I do not make models. I have no desire to make models. Yet I just watched a FORTY-FIVE MINUTE video about how to make a diorama, and loved EVERY MINUTE. I just love watching the details come together to make a scene that legitimately looks 100% real. I had to watch the finished results at the beginning and end and keep telling myself "that's a model!" because it just blew my mind. Thank you so much for your incredibly interesting videos! Even people who don't make models enjoy them, which is high praise.
@@BoulderCreekRailroad I like how you film your models outside as they to blend right in with the surroundings. That's talent with filming, let alone the model work.
First of all; RUclips has everyone afraid of producing a video longer than 20 minutes. If what you are doing with the video is interesting, most folks, young and old, will watch intently for a lot longer than that. Your videos are so well edited and narrated I would watch an hour and still be amazed at your craftsmanship and care for details. You, sir, are indeed a master modeler. I've seen dioramas in the Smithsonian that were not as believable as your work. P.S. Great photo magic as well.
ha ha... I totally didn't expect the one with the helmar super tac glue bottle to work... and then it just bounced right off the table and landed upright!
So I don't want this to be a downer. For the last few months I have used your big build videos to help me sleep. I have come to expect that your videos start with a shot outside so you have natural light and a real backdrop, making it look hyper realistic. This time, I was marvelling at how you managed to line up the shot so the building blended in with a real passing car on the road behind the model. Then I realised that the car driving by was part of the diorama. Awesome shot. I honestly thought the car was real for a moment.

Re: Spray painting (even with an airbrush): There was, back in the day, a pretty well known professional model painter, whose name I can't remember at the moment--his talents were often shown off in "Mainline Modeler" magazine, a US model railroad specific magazine. In those days many modelers used lacquer based paints, brand name Floquil (the brand name is still around), and unfortunately this very talented modeler ended up killing himself, because he failed to use adequate respiration protection or a paint booth as part of his regimen. He died not of cancer, which many chemical compounds still make use of and can cause in the long-term...but literally of toxicity due to overexposure to chemically dangerous paint fumes and particulates. Not that even lower amounts of exposure will do you very much good either.... I bring this up because you, Luke, very often seem to spray paint, and particularly paints like Rustoleum, around somewhat haphazardly/casually, and without obvious, adequate respiration (at least where the videos are concerned). Maybe your regulars have already heard your recommendations where sprays are concerned, but as a new subscriber, those aren't all that obvious, even if they are already out there. Paint splattering? Cool. Dry brushing? obviously cool. Dusts, chalks and other dirts? Cool--you are as exposed to those as much as if you step outside and take deep breath (life is dangerous...lol!). But spraying paint inside a confined space is a bit riskier, particularly if you make modeling a life long hobby. Just sayin'. Otherwise, I LOVE your work. How did you get the sky and mountains in the background? This whole thing was very enjoyable to watch. I didn't even realize it was forty plus, minutes.
I could watch a video of just those miniature bikers moving along the road. I was audibly shocked when the final shots appeared with the cars moving and everything looking perfectly realistic!
the outside of this building is a masterpiece.. oh wait, theres also printed illusions of 3d things inside.. oh wait, theres also actual 3d things inside.. oh wait, theres also real lights inside.. of wait, thats just one building.. oh wait theres also a whole entire scene.. how the Fluck can there be so many masterpiece level things all wraped up into one little scenery piece??? They usually rush things trough and add some annoying music while your vids show everything in details and your background music as well as your voice are really calming so it's a perfect combination 👏🏼 Great job man!
Awesome video as usual Luke little longer than what I'm used to but very very interesting and very beautiful work you do an outstanding job and I'm assuming you must make the bicycle riders yourself because I don't ever remember seeing any at the hobby shop that their legs actually move so I'm assuming you must make those yourself that just really look realistic especially the store. the store was just a work of art in itself . You could almost heat the registers ringing up sales it is so realistic. I have to admit there are times I see your work and I look at my work and I'm just like I should just give up ain't no way I'm ever going to be that good so I don't know why I keep trying? but brilliant video again I really enjoyed it thanks for posting it.
This is without any doubt top (and ultimate) tier of minature building. So many times I was like "there's more to this finish?!". Wow. If I may throw in my 2 cents - for me only thing is lack of some more glossy/sleek items on the set. It is obviously due to it's character, but f.e. the phone booth and this electric device/box on the pole might have had that kind of sleek finish. Anyway, without my paltry coins this set is astonishing and nothing will change that. Congratulations, jaw-dropping talent. I've looked on your channel and I'm surprised there is no clips of you working on miniatures for bigscreen movie sets. You got what it takes, that's for sure. Maybe you just don't show these clips, or I've missed sth ;) All the best for you mate, keep doing this beautiful work and I hope you extract some deserved big buck from it. Pozdro666

What an absolutely gorgeous model! I'm curious what happens with the models after their finished? Do you keep them, sell them, were they commissioned, etc? Love your videos!
My parent’s house as a red tin roof. Love it when it rains. Love your channel!!
0:11 подумал, что ты реально каким-то образом поставил велосипедиста, а сзади диорама
: D . Просто первый раз вижу в видео подобный велосипед. Очень реалистичный)
Yes!!!!! FINALLY I've been waiting so long for another one of these absolutely amazing videos
i can feel the heat,
worry about the mosquitos in the drainage ditch, do you have mosquotes
in Australia ? This scene is so real !
I love your videos mate! You should do an interview with someone. I'd love to learn more about the guy behind the models.
They're all driving on the wrong side of the road, mate!
Just kidding, awesome video!
lol... we are also upside down. I had to flip the video after filming it so it would appear the right way up for those watching in the northern hemisphere... 😄
Just WOW! Like seriously that's amazing in every way. Amazing videos man
Super like from Mexico. I love your videos. Thanks a lot!!!
Nina so cool that a girl might be interested in this, luv you babe from down under oz
How did you get the sky and mountains in the background?
This whole thing was very enjoyable to watch. I didn't even realize it was forty plus, minutes.
They are real mountains and sky he took the video outside lol
My kids dig toy trains and cars. This building, and a town like it, would be awesome for a train table. 💡 thanks pal!
This was randomly suggested to me by YT and I am genuinely impressed at the level of skill you have. Well done.
This was so cool to watch! I love miniature things, and seeing how these tiny cars can move throughout the town, so cool!
My mind is blown at the level of craftsmanship and skill and awesomeness in these things.. Now its 2am and i have to work in the morning.. damnit.. well ill prepare for being exhausted tomorrow because theres no way im missing this... or the next 4 that im sure ill be watching. lol.
Given that this is a very long video!... I’ve included some time stamps here to highlight specific parts of the video, a bit like chapters so you can jump forward or back to specific sections where I demonstrate different techniques.

When I looked through these time stamps I realized how long I’ve been watching the vid for
I would't care if the video was to be one hour long; I'd even actually enjoy it more...!
😍 I love your videos! A lot of people are doing things like you but I don't enjoy their videos as much as yours!
You are amazing!!! The detail alone is astounding!!! Cheers to you!!!
It’s also important to note that some epoxys heat up when they are curing (via chemical reaction) and can melt plastic and/or foam.
Ant Man could live there after defeating Thanos

Maybe you just don't show these clips, or I've missed sth ;)
All the best for you mate, keep doing this beautiful work and I hope you extract some deserved big buck from it. Pozdro666
Luke: this is not a short build so grab a cup of coffee.
Me at 2am: okay I guess I’ll do that.
1:30 that was cool and the reaction was funny
This video is abso-bl-lutely fabulous ! The store blows me away !
