Absolutely, Solskjaer was a much better player than he gets credit for. Watching some of the old stuff now, Cole and Yorke were also truly brilliant! I don't care that they don't have 700 goals each, they were world-class!!
Barthez was the most fun keeper ever! His style just resulted in howlers occasionally. He was still a great keeper, but blunder at Utd and people lose respect for an entire career
Looking at Fabian Barthez in these videos, it really gave you the impression like a travel cone was standing between the posts. No posture, no presence.
people like neville say rvn was a problem as he only won 1 league title - but without rvn we would have been seriously screwed with no runs in europe or fairly strong league showings. before 2006, we had cr7 who had literally no end product (but was clearly the most talented player in the team), an ageing back four, an inconsistent as fuck barthez who wasn't wearing the france jersey on weekends, beckham who was halfway out the door for some part of this period, a very young rooney, scholes who was very good but he got better 06/07, giggs who was past his best (he was guys lets be real here by 2003-2005 he was not what he was). The sad thing is when he was focused, Barthez was at times the best small keeper to have ever played the game. It was this year though that I think he finally just went batshit crazy. I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt and say he was a good keeper, but almost impossible to rate. Internationally, he could have had games where he displayed the highest level of goalkeeping ever seen when we factor in distribution and ballplaying ability. I was never ever able to work that guy out (a little bit like Safin in tennis - remarkable on their day but what happens on a bad day????).
Lazio's previous 2 kits were awesome too! Imo, the mid-90s - mid-00s was when we saw the peak of football kits. Juventus/Sony. Fiorentina/Nintendo then Toyota. The sponsors these days have no character, it's just about the money. Mostly tech companies - which I suppose Sony, Nintendo, SEGA, are too... but they were making video games
I think after reading comments on here that Fergusons biggest mistake was letting Carlos Tevez slip through his fingers in the pursuit of Berbatov. It took him years to get a keeper he trusted after Schmeichel left too. Stam was a mistake but his absence wasn't long lived. On another note Ruud van Nistleroy is the best out and out striker I've ever seen.
Carlos Tevez was a tireless runner and presser but I’m pretty sure he was let go because of his greed and the fact that Berbatov’s goal involvement casted a shadow over Tevez’s own, plus Berbatov was still among the top 10 EPL players in distance covered.
'Irwin played his last game before retirement.' - he went on to play for Wolves the following year and actually played again united 2 years later in the prem for them after helping them up from the champ?
@drgreenthumb5225 Barthez was with United for four years between 2000 and 2004, winning two Premier League titles in the process. But his erratic displays saw Sir Alex Ferguson lose patience with him and he spent the final season on loan back at former club Marseille, who he subsequently joined on a two-year permanent deal. Do a Google search pls.

It’s interesting that SAF tried to sign Vieira when he was planning to retire. He then did the same thing with Van Persie aswel it’s like his aim was to weaken his opponents before he left
@@harukrentz435Not sure about that, I’ve read numerous reports which state otherwise, he only informed United in feb . Arsene Wenger said in an interview when SAF bought RVP he knew it was because he was planning to retire so surely it was planned

What a weak defence that year, you can't sell Stamp and simply play an old lauran blank, gary neville, silvestre, Brown as central defenders. Without ignoring the overrated worst goal keeper came to the club, Mr Barthes
Sir Alex's biggest weakness was his ego. He forced Staam, Keane, and Beckham out. Beckham and Keane should've retired at United, Staam always arguably one of the best defenders at that time as well.
Kicking beckham, keane, and ruud out was correct decision, they had become problem however stam was different story but still we sold him for £4m more.
@@harukrentz435 how was Becks a problem? His only problem was the fact that he was a global superstar. His work ethic was never in doubt, and he never challenged Sir Alex openly.
Nah his biggest mistake was not getting Van der sar in straight after Schmeichel...had 5 years of disastrous keepers after Schmeichel which could have easily been avoided.
It’s insane people were identifying Ferguson as the weak link in the media. He went on to win another 6 league titles and a champions league.
Barthez would probably go crazy from all the pressure if he played this day
I forgot how badly I always wanted Solskjær to come on!! dude's a goal machine
We have a keeper problem until the great Van Der Sar came
Ruud Van Nistelrooy a legend.
How I wish I could go back to 2001-02
Onana born to replace Barthez. LOL

It's a fall in standards and expectations at the club
