Good content. Just ordered mine and luckily I set up the account and bought through the website before the Starlink kit arrives. Now we wait for arrival and take notes and points that you've highlited. I got the Kshs.6500 package as I am in the Eastlands area and the same Kshs.6100 is what I pay for Zuku for [60mbps download and 6Mbps upload], anything above100mbps download and 10mbps upload for the Kshs.6500 is a major win for me. Looking forward to your next video. If you're looking to buy though, I implore you to get the Starlink Gen 3 or better yet the Starlink Mini from the reviews I'm getting online. Today being the 14th - AUGUST - 2024, getting the Starlink Gen 2 kit @Kshs. 29,999 within Nairobi, Kenya is a hustle and a tussle; major supermarkets have run out of stock.

Eastlands seems to be less saturated so they offer the best rates there

@cliffjohn3612 zuku charges a lot, in my area(malindi coast) we've one competitive ISP, who offers 75mbps at 6250. He's taken almost the whole of my area since he has prioritized good customer care and affordable internet. I'm torn whether to get starlink or stay with my isp fibre

what am sure with starlink they will be way more better on stability of net than many internet providers in kenya...security wise i am not sure how the receiver are because the receivers of the other net providers have been on high rise of theft

I’ve heard cases of theft but mostly in dense populated areas . I think it would be safe to have mounted on the highest point of one’s house

Zuku was my first ever home internet option and I was frustrated by them in less than 3 months of usage , I definitely can’t recommend them

I wasn’t intending to use it on livestreaming because the upload speeds are abit limited. But I’ll try and see whether it can work out in such an event

How does one work around the upfront ksh14000? Cause I'm experiencing the same in my location
Just try out different locations around and within your location till the option opens up

Starlink mini is on its way. Probably by Dec n will Probably be half that amount. I honestly need an internet devoid of govt interference. Safcom n others will pay a high price for allowing the govt to interfere with internet during the recent Gen-z protests.

Yes it can work with other routers but you’ll need the Ethernet adapter that’s sold separately
Yes, you have to buy an Ethernet cable for Starlink Gen 2 [Actuated], then Gen 3 which is pricier and currently not available through their website in Kenya, it's router is WIFI 6 in contrast to Gen 2 which has WIFI 5, and the Gen 3 router has two Ethernet ports of which you can use Starlink internet with any third party router and other Internet of things devices respectively.

Is it me or I'm interpreting the roaming package differently? I thought the roaming package only applies if you want to use Starlink outside the jurisdiction area where you signed up for your Starlink
I could be wrong but when you pay for a residential package you’re locked in to a specific location
@@African_josh These are things that are very hard to pick up form all videos. I have watched more than 10 Kenyan starlink videos. You guys are doing a great job. I think if you do avideo higlighting these kind of things it would really help. Some people are looking to travel with it every week to some remote location for work. Also its sad you cannot mount the router on the wall. Also I am not sure if we are getting the Gen 3 or not. Those of us who have not interracted are still so confusded by this info. Great video though.
Also a direct speedtest side by side comparison with existing suppliers like Safaricom fiber, zuku, Airtel box and the normal phone 5G network among others would be great. Tech guys assume that we know what 159Mbps and 40 mbps means. I can bet half of your viewers haven't even noticed the Mbps is in small in the upload. If you put it into perspective, we'd really appreciate.
Also, terms like latency tunafloat kidogo. Ofcourse I can google that, but I wish when I google, I'd find the answer in your videos. A little definition and exactly how that affects us would be great. Some guys are into heavy usage, some medium, some light, gamers, email only types of people and all other type of users want to see how those terms like LATENCY affect us. Does it mean when i am on a zoom call i will wait a few seconds to get what my respondent says? I think you explained a bit in the video, but not quite clearly.

How can someone determine the areas that get the 6500 package? So that we don't get caught off guard. Secondly if you buy the 6500 package does it mean you can't travel with it because it is locked on one location?
It’s as easy as just keying in your location on the Starlink website , it’ll tell you what’s available in that area , from what I’ve been advised the residential package of ksh 6500 is locked to the location you registered while paying meaning you only have a radius of 1km . Outside that area it will definitely not work

6,500 package is available anywhere in Kenya. You can also travel with your dish anywhere in the country. You simply go on the app and update your location when traveling outside your home area
