-one more off-handed example of an artist with no music: in the second artbook, it was mentioned there's an urchin punk rock band that performed at starfish mainstage. the japanese name of starfish mainstage, as well as the logo on the stage, references sea urchins instead of starfish, so this makes sense.

I think it was confirmed that she was only partially sanitized! that's why she still has some red on her tentacles. she wanted to be somewhat sanitized so that she could more easily dedicate herself to her music without getting tired or burnt out. so it's not to hard to believe that she would continue making sick beats

Honestly I love the idea that Pearl was the previous Sashimori vocalist because it either means that Marina brought out the best in her and that's why she doesn't control their music that much, or that despite her control freak tendencies, she has such strong faith in her partner that she can let her write without taking control.

In Japan, Turquoise October is called OCTOTOOL. This is probably a reference to the band Tool but maybe I’m reading too much into it

on page 196 of the Splatoon 2 art book, the page about starfish main stage, there’s mention of a sea-urchin punk band having recently played there. it’s probably just some one off thing but i thought it was interesting.
DAMN i totally forgot about them!!!!! that wouldve been perfect to talk about under the musicians with no music section.
So here's my theory for the CoroCoro songs: Ikkan, former member of the squid squad, tried to go solo after the band broke up. For what I know, Bassists can easily learn to play other guitars and for the drums, he could've just used a drumboard or drumset or idk how it's called. This theory is based on nothing but the fact that Ikkan used to be very passionate about music and I'm not sure that you can stop producing music if you're that invested in it. So maybe this came from a time between his Squid squad and his DissPair Time :3

I was wondering if the companies whose advertisements you see in many stages have some lore behind them. Seeing how there is this much lore about bands, there surely must be something about that?
rizirone made a video about the brands of splatoon and that covers it fairly thoroughly. there unfortunately is little to no info about the brands beyond the clothing and gear brands.
that being said, i MIGHT make a video about the article i mentioned at the start of the video, and the sally and hara wataru interview. those talk a bit more about not only some gear brands (mostly firefin), but also graffiti in inkopolis.

I’ve always assumed that the 5 note Turquoise October beat that Marina uses in the Ebb and Flow demo is an Octarian melody that everybody just knows. It’s so natural that you just put it in your music. Octavio even uses it in the Splatoon 2 boss fight, by actually pitching Callie’s voice into that melody. Much like him brainwashing her, he’s even turned her singing into more Octarian singing.

Seeing the idol group at 20:45 has me thinking, what is it with idols in the splatoon universe and having matching beauty marks? Both the squid sisters and off the hook have them too!

Could be wrong but I believe Diss-Pair was the first band to have the member's officially named on Social Media before Haikara Walker was published and the other Splatband member's names were revealed. Idk if there's a reason for this but eh, just a little random fun fact.
I have a Theory/HC about Dedf1sh’s music titles: maybe in the way they were numbered, They were written based off of the way Dedf1sh felt in the sanitation PROCESS, as she felt her memory fade away, she documented her progression.

I hope you someday feel a desire to talk about more lore regarding the bands and music of Splatoon, even if its about the already-often talked about the squid sisters and marina+pearl, just because I love hearing you talk about it all
Or I mean, to be honest, any splatoon lore at all is always a treat no matter what it is
I like the idea that Marina's "wasabi supply unit" thing is either a codename for a design team for the Octobot King, or something related to turquoise october- makes it seem less like a dumb downgrade and fit in better.
Ok so hear me out. Warabi and ikkan should be the idols for splatoon 3. They're chaotic in relationship, making them a perfect fit, and dude idols would be an awesome change for the next game.

oh god i pray this is the case, this would be so sick. the theme of chaos doesn’t exactly lend itself too well to another set of pop idols (+ i am kind of bored of them at this point)
It could be cool if the bands did the idol announcements swapping up semi regularly, but it could be either great or horrible, and I don’t think it’d happen due to the high modeling, animation, and writing requirements. It would also be great if the announcements were simplified, streamlined, removed, or modernized, and it looks like it might be simplified into a cellphone screen
The fact that the devs and creator of this franchise gave such deep lore to something usually simply appreciated like music wich in every game, movie and tv show is just background to create the mood really adds spice to this already fantastic franchise

I think that Callie was Brainwashed into working with Turquoise October based on some art, so I always thought that Callie was subconsciously trying to send a message for help to anyone
I don’t know why, but the songs by Turquoise October are some of my favorites in the entire franchise. Something about the weird samples and burpy bass sounds is just super interesting and… almost kinda badass? Idk, it feels like the wrong word to use, but the songs just feel so otherworldly, yet also familiar.

now that you mentioned that dedf1sh's songs are numbered in the order that she made them, i think that maybe she just didn't like the ones that arent listed as much as the others
The thing I love about the Splatoon world is how in depth and insane the lore is. The art for the bands or any promotional material for the game is insanely good and so much love and care went into every character design in this series.

I just got my copy of Haikara Walker in the mail yesterday, and when I got to the timeline immediately thought "hey, Rassicas still has a Part 3 video about the bands coming soon." Anyway, just gonna write my thoughts on specific things in the video.
Love getting additional ABXY/Chirpy Chips info, since they're my favorite band.
As for why Dedf1sh has some missing song numbers, my head canon is that she might have not liked those songs as much, and decided to just not use them.
That Corocoro song for Emperor is fire. I'm planning on buying the Splatoon manga very soon, so hearing about it here of all places was interesting.
19:36 Looking at the texture files for the CDs, It would appear that only the blue and pink are actually there. Maybe the one with the Inkling was scrapped pretty early on, since there isn't an unused texture for it, at least in the final game.
20:24 I'm glad you covered this, because I saw this in Haikara Walker and thought "Hey, who are these two? What's their deal?" so it's cool to see them talked about.
As for DJ SANGO, I really hope we get music by him in Splatoon 3, whether it be for single player or multiplayer. I just don't want this to turn into a Red from Pokémon situation where they're only there as a silent character who shows up for one thing and then leaves.
I hope the LWP is canon. Crazy theory/head canon time, but what if creatures going missing during the LWP helped kick start the whole Chaos thing.

i think that the reason that marina, TO, and octavio's music use similar instruments and sampling techniques is probably something to do with ocrarian music standards. Due to the opressive nature of their culture and society, they might be forced to use specific DAWs or soundfonts, or their music must have to fit certain guidelines to be broadcasted. In fact, those guidelines might be based off of Octavio's tracks since he is their dictator.

they hinted at dedf1sh and marina performing together in the past, and that was apparently true, pretty simply: the two go "way back". so i don't think the paul-dedf1sh connection is just a rumor either
paul and dedf1sh sharing that symbol on their hats is already interesting. but what really seals it for me is that, that symbol also appears on the weird machine at the end of the new trailer. so it's definitely gonna be expanded on, i think

I actually love marina being in the backstories of so many other octoling musicians. You can really see her building a community, finding people with similar experiences, etc. It's super sweet!

Well then. Splatoon's bands have more lore than most series I watch. I could see a whole story surrounding the bands tbh, and I'd watch/play it. I was gonna make a comic about them too, but oh god there's a lot of bands.

For the First Emperor Gear Set ad I think that song sounds like a remix of Metalopod by Squid Squad. The drums sound similar and it would explain why the vocals sound like Ikkan
i dont think it's a remix, the instruments and "lyrics" are different. i think its a separate song

you may be surprised to learn that there isnt really much obscure lore on the idols, probably because theyre so popular! people have dug up p much all there is on them. that and because im honestly not as invested in the idols compared to much of the fanbase, dont expect me to make a video on them anytime soon. if i make a video about them then maybe itd be about my experience seeing them live LOL. real life splatoon lore.
however, ive had a rough idea for an octavio video but not sure when or even if i'll do it. theres not too much info on him either.

Oh man just thought of something! Imagine if in Splatoon 3 then introduce us to a 5 member band called Marooned 5 (a play of word on Maroon 5)
6:37 I never thought Marina was apart of turquoise october since the jingle that their songs share s apart of DJ Octavio's theme which would imply that the jingle would probably be something common place, and the whole thing of he demo having the same lyrics would probably come down to them having limited resources (Or sounds to use) when it comes to music so most songs would consistently use familiar sounds to one another.
I think it would be actually super cool if a few band members could be on some lines in the deep sea metro as an Easter egg
one thing thats kinda fishy though (No pun intended) is the fact that the duo shown 20:30 look very similar to a certain duo we know. Something tells me that might be blood relatives.
Think about it for a second:
one had a high voice and the other was more of a whisper... almost the same as Callie and Marie where Callie was high and very energetic while Marie's was lower and much more softer.
Same facial masks
Similar hair shades, white and black (yes i know the white isn't completely white.)
Cuttlefish family appearances, same as Callie and Marie (even though it isn't entirely confirmed if they're full inklings or cuttlefish or a mix of both.)
Marie and Callie's parents don't go fully in depth on appearances or lifestyle or personality, leaving a lot of speculation.
Am I the only one who sees this pattern here?

It is apparently confirmed (Or something that was on the Splatoon wiki) that during the events before Octo Expansion, agent 3 took up being a DJ and they were the one to do a 8 hour DJ battle with Marina. Also the "6000000000" people that came was probably just the about of people that were there total. maybe part of the crowd left and new ones came in to watch.
The first part was on the wiki and probably true because I don't think any other squid has the Splatoon 1 hero headset, but I'm not so sure about the 6000000000 part, that was just my theory.
Overall, great video! Your videos are great to listen to and you definitely put a lot of work with the 3 videos and the translations.
im not quite sure what youre getting at here, because i do mention in this video DJ sango is agent 3 and did the DJ battle with marina. the info is sourced from haikara walker, a japanese-only splatoon artbook, and translated by fans like clanfearrunt and myself, which then gets put on the wiki by others. so its true.
as for the 60 million/billion inkopolis residents, even if not at once, its still a concerningly large amount of people! too many!

(Though that would also mean that they’re Craig's kids, and with the last name “Cuttlefush”, it kinda makes sense.)

I know I'm 2 years late to this, but, I do really like the idea of agent 3 getting into DJing, because like you mentioned, there seems to be very strong ties between DJing and octarians (probably cause their society is so tech focused), so the former top agent and current captain of the new squidbeak splatoon, an organization focused on fighting the Octarian army, taking up a form of music so heavily tied to octarian culture sort of feels like a great symbolic way to represent this new era of Inklings and Octolings living together

4:44 an interesting thing that may or may not be intentional is that turquoise inverted results in a color very similar to octarian ink, and given the colors of sanitized Octarian, it does have some interesting implications
I come from the future (thanks, algorithm, I discovered this channel the other day from looking up the Splatune soundtracks) to say they foreshadowed Side Order for 14:20 lol
I have several fan-idols that I’ve made over the years, but I’ll talk about Zen here since he aligns more with the Splatoon timeline than Out of the Blue, my other band, who live in a alternate universe where Sealings (my term for all Splatoon species) developed alongside humans and live peacefully underground.
Anyway, who is Zen? Zen is a blind Octoling who’s eyes were disintegrated after an accident that took place days before he left the Octarian Army with his surviving sister (he and three others broke their brainwashing in Splatoon 1, but didn’t have anywhere to go so they stayed in the army together and became as close as family). He later picked up violin and started singing, gaining the name “the Blind Beacon” (he made his real stage name Beacon) for being one of a few Octolings paving the way for more Octarian music in the future.
