This is exactly the video I was scouring the internet and RUclips for, I use Clip Studio Paint but I come from Sai which didn't have a curve, just a number setting so I was completely lost with the curve. Didn't know what part of the line really meant/did what so thank you for describing it all in a way that's easy to understand and absorb.
Thanks yeah I was surprised how obscure and misunderstood this setting is considering how important it is to getting the right drawing feel. So I had to make this video, glad it helped.
as someone who always likes writing with a 0.03 pencil trying to use the apple pencil was hard. I had to use a lot more pressure then I usually use and was scared of using too much and damaging the ipad I am so glad I found your video I tried with the curve 2 example and its exactly what I needed. I would have tried the one you prefer except I know how lightly I press especially whenever I lent someone my actual pencil and they kept pressing to hard and breaking the led on my mechanical pencil.
i got procreate for my birthday two months ago and have been stuck with a learning curve trying to figure this exact thing out. thank you so much for the help this just lifted a huge weight off me
So it took me a while but for those who took it literally like I did you’re not actually putting pressure onto the pencil like the name suggests. Idk if this is the case for all but what you have to do is tilt the pencil up and down and that’s what creates the “pressure” difference. As some one who comes from traditional pen and paper the pressure thing was very confusing. Hope this helps someone. Edit: Just found out that some pencils don’t have pressure sensitivity 🥲and what I described above is actually a tilt which is a separate feature to the pressure sensitivity. 😭
This video came out as a recommendation today and wow... I never thought it would change my experience with my Apple Pencil so much just by playing with the sensitivity., now I can make soft lines more easily, although I still have to discover the strong one, since I feel your recommendation is inappropriate for my hand and I have to press too hard my screen. Thank you!
Thanks for this video. Great info and you talk in a relaxed and understandable way, compared to many other RUclips video's where the person is talking extremely fast..
I just bought an apple pencil 2 and procreate but I was really struggling with seeing anything appear on there, until I saw your video and made those necessary changes. TYSM for sharing ❤
I bought an apple pen 1 a few days ago and i have to apply so much pressure on procreate to actually see the full colour of the line.. like I'm gonna break the screen, even if i change the pressure sensitivity settings, no change. Is it maybe the pen is defective??
Is the pressure curve what is going to allow me to adjust the lightness of the stroke at the beginning because all the pencils seem to be extraordinarily light and transparent and even if I'm not putting more pressure they gradually just darken. I just want a pencil that is the same color all the time - does anyone know how to do that?
Which Apple Pencil are you using? This setting is for calibrating how procreate interprets the force of your hand. The size and opacity settings would be deeper in the settings of the brush you’re using.
I bought a cheap $7 screen protector on eBay and to my surprise, it made the Apple Pencil around 90% to a pencil and paper in the real world. A little tweak to make it even better. The screen protector I bought was a soft screen, not tempered glass, not gel, not magnetic screen. I tried with paper feel screen before and didn’t like the scratching noise.
thank you! this helped a lot. was always wondering what i'm doing wrong in tutorials, it just didn't look the same, now i know it's not necessarily me hahah
I just got an ipad because my school required it and so I want to use it to draw. I previously used the galaxy tab s8 and I was wondering if anyone knows how to match the sensitivty on that tablet with the one on ipad 9th gen.
I don't feel like my apple pencil (2nd gen) is changing at all when i adjust the pressure settings globally or for individual brushes. I just bought it, did I receive a faulty one? No matter how lightly I press strokes are at full opacity/size i can't gradually build it like a real pencil. Is there an apple pencil setting i have to activate to turn on its pressure sensitivity?
it might be the 2nd gen pencil or maybe your apple pencil settings (not in procreate)? I am using the 2nd gen pencil and I did see a slight difference on pressure before changing the global settings as well as when I changed the individual brushes pressure, and after changing the procreate pressure curve (what the video is about) it had a big change on the pressure.
Do you know if this only works with an Apple Pencil? I bought a stylus on Amazon, but the pressure sensitivity doesn’t seem to work. I’m just wondering if my settings are wrong.
got me a ipad before new year and been playing around with the brushes for hours... i havent even drawn alot yet lol ... i think its very hard to find something wich is smoth / stabilzed and also still controllable...
Try adjusting the stabilisation in the individual brush settings - this video is more about global pressure settings rather than stroke wobbles. It’ll get better with time and experience
Thanks for watching guys, if you're after a Procreate custom brush set that pairs perfectly with these settings, check out my set - jaywalkerpictures.com
Even when I use the standard brush curve settings, I can’t seem to get it to work. No matter how much pressure I place on my pen, the size of the brush stroke remains the exact same!!! :( does anyone know what I can do to fix this??
If anyone could help me if greatly appreciate it I’ve watched every video I used to have it done but now when I try nothing happens and I have some brushes that don’t even show up at max size and opacity
Thanks so much! I have a new ipad with a glass screen protector! And I do not want to be busting through my apple pencil tips on my i pad cause I also need to take notes for college! thanks so much!!
can someone help me! When i draw with my apple pencil on procreate it feels like there is no pressure at all, despite doing changes in the preference area. I press lightly and it’s still the same. i press hardly and it’s the same. i cant figure out what the probelm is!
Sometimes my pencil doesn't feel the pressure right. For example, when hand pressure is too much, the lines are too thin, this problem occurs randomly. Could the pressure curve be related to my problem? I would be very grateful if you could help
Hi! Thanks so much for the video! However, I have a problem. I did exactly as you said, but I can’t get that same sketchy feel. I do have an apple pen and it is connected, so I’m not quite sure what’s wrong. I also have another problem that’s completely unrelated, but for some reason, I can’t really make the stroke follow the pen. It is calibrated, but it seems like it’s too stabilized??? I checked all my stabilization settings, resettled my settings, and turned them down to the lowest, including the brush stabilization, but it’s still like that? It’s to the point where I can’t write. Could anyone help?
@@jaywalkerpictures Thank you! I’ll definitely download them. When I was talking about the sketching thing, I meant that the pressure wasn’t working at all????? I have the settings set to default plus the settings shown in the video! I think it has something to do with the iPad generation, because I got mine all the way back in 2017.
I recommend watching some long tutorials not for how to use the app but just tutorials for drawing stuff like landscapes. James juilier art post good tutorials and I just did a lot of them and eventually it was like I fully knew how to use the app
Thank you SO much for not just sharing YOUR settings but explaining thoroughly what it means and how we can customize it to OUR preferences 🖤🖤

Same thing is happening to me. Only in procreate. I feel like I'll break my screen.
😂😂 same here
Thank you for this. I hated how hard I needed to press my pencil into the screen I kept thinking I was gonna damage it.

Hey just wondering why i dont have that setting on my ipad air 4th gen.
My procreate is up to date and using the second generation pen
I feel like I’ve tried everything and even with your settings, all I get is a tiny thin line no matter how thick or large the brush is I’m using. 😢

That is very well explained ..Thank you very much.
I think you are the first person I see using the Brave web browser
I don’t think anything changes when I edit the curve, it’s still the same as the straight line? Did I do something wrong?
The type of brush you're using could be affecting the feel. Try the Round Brush under the painting section in the Brush Library.
What’s the name of that track in the background
This feature was a doozy for me. It has such a.....learning curve. He he he
I see what u did there 😉
hi! i don’t have an apple pencil, i have a different brand bluetooth stylus. does this work for any stylus? thanks!
Not sure, but give it a try and play with the settings to see if it changes the feel.
