    I have been foraging quite a bit this year. I have several tinctures going. I struggle with details though and ... I haven't weighed stuff or done ratios. How badly have I screwed up?
    I've got quite the corner collection happening. I walk the dog and I see things... I take my phone and snap a pic. Apple lets me swipe up on the pic, click the little leaf and it tells me what it is... or at least a best guess which is a great place for me to start. I find out if it has any properties that I want and then I get it. Do some more research when I get home and usually end up tincturing it or drying it... usually both. I look forward to this winter when the snow forces life to slow down and I have time to really dig into these herbal ally gems!
    Thank you for your part in my journey... all the things you teach.... I have oats growing in my garden right now because of you! I hope it finishes in time. I remember you saying it would be ready in three to four weeks. I'm there right now and they don't look anywhere near ready. I'm hoping I haven't screwed up somehow.
    I was thinking about going to Natural Pantry for some Lion's Mane, bringing it home for a tincture. I got to wondering about pesticides...

    I came across your channel recently. You two are a breath of fresh air. This has always been intimidating to me. We grow up with the industries telling us how reliable medicine is and how dangerous home remedies are. I’m finally over their scheme. I think I’ll dip my toe in the water and try a little something. I’ve had digestive issues as far back as I can remember. Medicine has never helped. I’ll start there.

      Spring is upon us and I always tell my friends to start with dandelions because they are so abundant and you can use the entire plant! It can help you with digestive issues! There are many plants that can help with this that may be better but this is an easy one to find to get you sarted!

    • @Car-jy8pw

      @@jenniferwinek4623 thanks for the tip. I’ll try it. Since I posted that I started drinking some herbal teas (plantain seems to make the most notable difference so far). I also started taking broccoli sprouts and all the edible greens I could gather in the garden… blending them… freezing the smoothie and taking a little every day. It’s actually helping a lot.

    So much fun! I love it when I spend a day tincturing or pressing out tinctures! So Satisfying and hopeful. When making some of your tinctures, you could put them in a blender. This would give more surface for the alcohol to extract from and will condense the herb so the menstruum will cover the herb easily. I do this with most of my tinctures and have found it makes a stronger medicine. Thanks for all you share! It's so fun to watch!

    • @MattCha90
      @MattCha90 Год назад +3

      100 grams of ground herbs to 100 ml of alchohol will give you the strongest possible extraction per the old pharmaceutical manuals. We make ours that way in an open top dropping funnel and it produces a beautiful rich and strong extract concentrate. Diluted 1:9 the concentrate creates a full strength tincture comparable to what you get from the jar method. It will save you boatloads of time as most can be prepared this way and it only takes about 48 hours to complete instead of days or weeks. We use this method to produce bitters and pastillies.

      @@sarahgracenadeau I've never used self heal for headache, but I'm will to try it if the need arises. I am not one to have headaches often, but WOW did we have them when we had the virus. I used yarrow to improve my fever and try to break it, but with the virus I fevered for several days on and off and it finally ran its course. Thanks for the heads up about self heal! My daughter and I forage it from our land and keep a good stash! God bless.

      @@rough-hewnhomestead5737 I only started foraging last year, and I had lots of self heal and I was pregnant and didn't want to take a bunch of poison to feel better. When I tell you my fever and headache went away within an hour of drinking a self heal tea. Just wonderful. I'm definitely on the look out for some yarrow. I think I'm just gonna get some seeds for all this stuff and grow it in a medicine garden🥰
      May The Father bless you too!

    Great and calming video! As a heads-up; Monotropa uniflora ("Indian pipe") is not a fungus but a plant without chlorophyll.
