  • A French freediver broke the world record for deepest dive with bi-fins as he descended to a depth of 120m (393ft).
    Arnaud Jerald took 3 minutes and 34 seconds to complete the dive, during the annual Vertical Blue competition in the Bahamas.
    It's the seventh time the 26-year-old has broken the world record in his career.

    3 minutes and 34 seconds is a long time to hold your breath, but add in the oxygen used to swim that depth and its truly an amazing achievement.

      I'm not being an ass or a troll nor do I don't acknowledge his achievement, but there's a fishing tribe in the Philippines that could last for more than 10 mins called Badjao/Bajau under the water. They pick up clams, crabs, and stab fish with spears under the water while walking on the sea floor. I wonder why they don't let them try these kind of things.

    • @MrPringles6996
      @MrPringles6996 2 года назад +28

      @@hestiashearth478 yeah ive heard of a tribe like that too, i think with this the achievement is the depth as the deeper you go the more compression you have on your lungs which uses up oxygen faster in your blood or something like that haha im no biologist. Lots of people have beaten 3 mins 34 before but not at 120 meters deep.

      @@MrPringles6996 yeah, deep diving seems extremely difficult tho I don't know the specifics too lol but I'm currently reading 3 diff. articles about Bajaus and it seems like they could confidently go swimming below the ocean surface, 200ft which is 61meters for more than 10 mins. i'm imagining that if they could last longer than 10mins, the deeper they go the shorter they could last(sounds naughty). jks aside, i really wonder if they could beat the world record if they were given a chance.

      sorry, not so much focused on the time he spent underwater but the depth he reached. did you guys consider the pressure on your body, your lungs and brain when 120m deep under the surface? the pressure is one thing, but he then went back up as fast as possible and this change in pressure on his system probably is quite another matter

    120 m depth is almost thirteen (13) atmospheres of pressure - you experience one atmosphere of pressure increase for every 10.06 m (33 ft) of depth in water. That's deeper than most recreational dives (

    Deepest I’ve been able to dive in my 18 years of life is 20 feet.I can stay down in water for a long while, sometimes as much as a minute and a half.Hats off to that guy, the pressure alone would be hard to deal with, when I dive deep with my snorkel mask the pressure really constricts you after about ten feet.
