There was an audible noise of delight at that point when I saw it in the cinema. The sight of those eyes for a couple of seconds was almost as big as the Tom Baker moment.
andylornastuff Hey, did you see it at a cinema in America? Or did I just miss it? I live in Scotland, and I've never heard of Doctor Who in a cinema before
@duckseverywhere, The anniversary special was shown in cinemas at the same time it was broadcast. We got it in 3D too! This was in England, so not sure if it was available all over the UK but I thought it was.
Farewell John. Rest in peace. I wish we could have seen another appearance from you on Who but alas. However, for this movie, for that moment, you were the Doctor. And you know what? You were bloody brilliant.
@doctorwho0077 Everyone who makes it through the holiness test at the _real_ End of Time (a.k.a. the Great White Throne Judgement) will have his or her story told rightly. I can't wait...! :-)
Yeah, about that, yes, I do not deny the epicness of this quote, but something is bugging me. Shouldn't the thirteenth Doctor here have been the first Tenth? As the Tenth Doctor regenerated twice. The Twelfth Doctor is from the new cycle of regenerations given to the Doctor by the Timelords on Trenzalore. Eleventh is the thirteenth life of the Doctor.
'Gentlemen...I have had 400 years to think about this..I've changed my mind' 4:15 (Takes out Sonic Screwdriver, Deactivates The Moment) I admit, I was crying...the idea that the Doctor would save his home and his people was just too much for my fan boy brain to handle :3
It broke my heart when I first heard the Doctor was the last of the Time Lords, but we see the irony that he could be the greatest of them all. Behold this vision: the Doctor, through much toil, hardship, sacrifice, struggling and suffering, finally manages to slip through the time lock he created, beelining straight to Gallifrey, gathering as much of its knowledge, technology, and of course it's people before exiting the Time War and resealing it to prevent it from destroying all existence, giving the Time Lords a fighting chance to survive.
OK, John, you wanted that big, red button. Here you go. This might just be the best episode of the modern series. "The alternative is burning. I've seen that. And I never want to see it again!"

Series 12 has great music. While there was a massive problem with too much ambiance in Series 11, and still is kinda a problem in Series 12, Segun is an absolute genius with his music. If you haven't, please take a listen to a few of these great tracks: Thirteen The Spy Master The Lighthouse The Ascension Will Begin Time Lords CyberMasters Ascension of the Cybermen End Credits (It finally brought back the "middle eight" section of the theme for the first time since 2013.)
I'm impressed as all get-out at how the music is such an amazing contribution to the feel of the show -- this team works like mad with a limited budget to tell an enormous story, so they've used a style of music that literally creates the impression of a vast, inter-galactic backdrop against which these events unfold -- remarkable! And *smart*. My god, they're smart, the whole bunch of them! Well, that's "SciFi" for you -- shallow, whizz-bang action stories for teen-aged boys. Only somehow it's actually immensely potent story telling for, it turns out, great numbers of people all around the world! Epic? You bet!
@@maxkenny9503 I have to object. I'm definitely a fangirl but I value good story arcs and, believe it or not, 12 (Capaldi) is my favorite Doctor! Being teenage girls doesn't mean we're all shallow.
All of The Doctors have taught me something important. The Ninth Doctor: The greatest people to help us show our potential, is the people we love and care for. The Tenth Doctor: It's alright to be afraid, as long as you don't act 100% cocky, or act afraid all of the time. The Eleventh Doctor: Sometimes, it's best to look at everything and just say: "Fuck you universe, anything's possible." Twelfth Doctor: Change can be scary, but no matter what it's a good thing, and we all have our olds traits in us. This and The Day of The Doctor makes me want to see a whole season (series) on the Time War, but in the point of view of a squad of solders fighting in various battles and ending at the Fall of Archadia.
This song really hits me, exspecially when it came out with the 50th, it not just showed how terrible the war was and the pain the time lords suffered, but how much pain it has caused the Doctor since he destroyed it. How much he wanted to be forgiven
personally my favorite part of this episode was "i change my mind" just that quote, i changed so much, set in motion such great things, just that one choice the Doctor finally made after 400 years. he finally had the change to rewrite the past, erase his greatest mistake. i dont know, but that one simple phrase sent chills down my spine. i change my mind. Gallifrey stands!

Beautifully crafted music, a basically simple, declarative structure meant to juice up all your systems, tears included. That ending declaration, in truly heroic tones, over such music, just flips all your switches, and off you go into the stratosphere. It's well-nigh irresistible.
One thing that I really would have liked them to show was how did the twelfth doctor manage to get there. Eleven didn't know he was going to regenerate anymore then. How did 12 figure out that he needed to be there to help the other Doctors. And why didn't 11 notice him there then. There could have been atleast one episode during Capaldi's run to address that.
