Excellent tutorial. I purchased my first Jaguar XJ6 secondhand in 1979 with 79000 km. I added another 107000 km to it and never had a problem. Moving to Mercedes was a disaster, using more oil than gasoline. In 1987, I purchased a new Jaguar Sovereign, doing about 90000 km a year, and sold it with 203000 km on it, no problems. Old love never dies; I just purchased a 2018 F Type R convertible with 11000 Km on it, and I love it. I'm a Dinosaur, not going electric.
This is great. I just test drove a 2017 last night and the owner went thru most of the buttons pretty quickly. Plus it was dark and hard to see. People fail when it comes to showing prospective buyers all the nice features of the car they are trying to sell. Been watching all of your F-Type videos actually. Excited to get one of these in my driveway. The motor rips, it sounds amazing, and looks uber sexy! A lot of exotic car for a great price. Under $30k. WOW
I changed my footwell lights to blue and the puddle lamps to shine "Jaguar" text on the floor. The colors match the cool blue lights of the interior now. I love opening my door at night.
Thanks Mark have had my V8 R for 2 months now and have pretty much done with all my menu & switch settings, part of the fun :) The wiper stalk on mine, max - min is a time delay between wipes, though as they are rain sensitive they should automatically override it and wipe, if needed. The tail lights on rear boot are for the reg. plate, try finding that manual close button in the dark when looking up, you get dazzled by them...I know life is hard eh lol. Love how your videos are full of great content for any newbie or people thinking of buying an F Type, cheers.
Thank you very much for the comments and providing further detail. These cars are amazing and never leave a person bored for sure. It’s great to finally get into spring so it’s easier to actually enjoy them fully.
Thanks a lot Wayne, you bet I just could not resist, and the only car brand that can burn out the check engine light bulb or wear out the hood release lever. Fun aside it’s just nice to be able to get out and drive.
If you set the steering wheel to your desired position, then select auto, it will rise when you turn of the ignition to allow more clearance for getting in and out of the car.
Hey Mark. Love your videos. I don’t know if you read the comments, but I notice you’re probably going to change your windshield. Does that have to be done at Jaguar, or can your local windshield shop do it? My f type S is relatively high mileage (110,000 km) and the windshield has that slightly pockmarked effect from highway debris. (I have read that these windshields are a little soft). I don’t have any stone bruises as such or cracks, but it’s certainly not perfectly clear, especially driving into the sun. I’m only 5’7”, so the goofy little visor doesn’t really help me. I searched for, and finally found out what the little buttons under the mirror were for: garage door opener. Mine is a ‘15, so the bottom left button on the bottom of the dash is for rear fog lights (lights up a couple of extra red lights on the lower rear valance and adds a brighter element to the taillights as well, as opposed to LKA, which mine doesn’t have. Mine also has a ‘P’ button behind the dynamic button which activates front parking assist.
Nice tour of vehicle Mark! Headlight washer was cool. I have never seen it up myself. Cruise control speed limiter is a frustrating button/feature. As in it won’t let you go over speed limit( or only by a set amount). I Don’t use it. ( i do use the regular cruise) Fog light button only turns on rear bottom clear lights to red for foggy conditions. I may have missed you mention it,or is it an option, but the car has a roadsign reader and displays the speed limit for example in center display. Great for construction areas with new speed signs you may have missed. Better than gps based navigation speed readouts, for new signage. And my hazard button has no wear. Lol
Haha, thanks Randal, I did not know about the sign reader, thanks for sharing and seems like a great feature. Definitely so much tech that a person often stumbles across something new from time to time. Also, it’s nice for a change to get some decent weather.
@@markholubetz Try the sign reader out, some where there is a temporary speed sign. Should change just as you pass it. That “limiter” button also works based off that I believe. You can toggle thru the different “speed control “ modes witb the button. I forget a bit of it at the moment.
Mark, after owning my FTV8 for 3 years, your video taught me something - the interior light has a left and right ! Who would have thought ? I thought it was only the centre light. I also didn't know the car had headlight washers, which I'll check if my car was fitted with when next I use it. Thanks for an informative video
Haha, yes there are some funky gadgets and I have always laughed at the headlight washing systems on all cars. Strange but effective. That’s for the watch, and hope you are having a great week.
@@markholubetz Well, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that my car does indeed have headlamp washers ! Another example of the engineering thought and consideration for it's clients that went into the design of this car
Love your channel, purchased 2021 type r convertible brand new last April, Tom vehicle two weeks ago for sevice and new york state inspection, had problems with the Pirelli tires, all four tires were rotting, dealership called Pirelli and there answer summer tires and car should not be driven in temperatures under 50 degrees. I laughed I live in northeast that's impossible. dealership is making it right with new tires. My guess I got bad batch of tires. I was wondering if you have Pirelli on yours.
Hi Joseph, thank you very much for the support and yes, I do have Pirellis on my car. They are a newer set though when I bought the car new. No rotting issues here, but yes, I have heard that low temps do not agree with these tires. Maybe I need to move to California, Texas, or Florida. Haha
Probably this will make .1% difference but if you remove the clear sticker on the lighter chrome protective cover it looks shiny and nicer. I realized that 8 months after owning the car, lol.
Don't drop the FOB(s)! They shatter into pieces. I mean they go back together w/ some work, but it's kind of embarrassing how easily they break apart. I was getting out of my (new to me) F-Type R for the first time and both of my FOBs happened to fall out of my sweatshirt pocket onto the asphalt, and that's not a long drop w/ how low these are to the ground. I looked down in horror at a half dozen pieces of both their contents. It's happened a few times already and I've only owned the dang thing for a few weeks. Cool video! I learned a few things I did not know about yet. I think even in Sport mode (dynamic or not), it will shift automatically until you shift manually once. It goes from "S" on your display (presumably for sport) to the number of what gear you are in once you start shifting. It also downshifts automatically no matter what if the RPMs get too low, even in "manual" mode, which I don't mind. I haven't banged the rev-limiter yet. It's funny, with this car when you upshift you don't feel like you're out of the powerband. It still just goes ... fast! Still loving this car. Thanks for all the tips!
Great comments and I agree on all fronts, the performance is immense and it has such a broad torque curve it pulls at any RPM. I also noticed with the FOB, I took mine apart to get the emergency key and parts just sort of fell out and it felt very fragile. With that said, very small detail in the big scheme as these cars are incredible.
You can use an oil extractor pump to pull a few ounces out if overfilled. That’s why I never let the dealer touch my car. Goofy bastards. Another quirky thing is the fill scale. If the oil level is in the middle, that doesn’t mean “normal” it means 1 qt low. The bottom of scale is 2 qts low. There is no CEL or warning light for high or low oil quantity, so you have to manually check it every 10 seconds.
The oil over fill issue is a common dealer mistake. They use the oil extractor not for the required 10 minutes. The last three minutes are required t o remove the oil in the oil cooler which burps as it drains. They are pulling about 5 quarts out and putting about 7.5 quarts back in. The overfill means there is well over a quart too much oil in the pan.

I’ve done the same exact thing too. Inexpensive upgrade for sure and very easy to do.
Hi, can you share the link of where you bought the lights?
Great idea, I just placed an order on eBay for them.
Thanks for the video. My new/used jag comes home tomorrow. It was great getting a heads up with all of the bells and whistles. 😊
Congrats, sounds awesome. What spec like coupe or convertible , colour, etc?
@markholubetz 2016 base jaguar f- type model, black on black convertible that has classic good looks. Time to retire my 2004 blk on blk 350z conv.

Skipped the mirror controls, those are interesting to use when it comes to reverse and setting them. Great video!!!!
Thanks for watching
picking up my V6S coupe in 2 days. great video to watch while I wait like an excited kid at christmas haha
I think the horizontal lines under the Auto mode on the headlight switch signify how long the lights stay on after turning the car off.
Thank you for that. Lots going on in these cars, and much to understand.
Excellent tutorial, Mark. Loved the BMW hazard button worn out reference. LOL LOL LOL. Keep them coming.

Hi
You forgot to mention that holding down the remote door open or close button operates the windows up or down respectively
Hi Michael, indeed thanks for sharing. With that said in Canada they will only open and cannot remotely close. Regulations I believe.
If you set the steering wheel to your desired position, then select auto, it will rise when you turn of the ignition to allow more clearance for getting in and out of the car.
This is good information

In Europe we can operate the wing whenever we want - I really like that!

Hi,
I am a new owner with a question.
When i turn my heat control button both sides go up (or down).
How do I seperate them?
Regards Rob
Can you drive the car on automatic while on sport mode or while on dynamic mode? Thanks!
How do you set the clock??
Great video! where can I purchase that colored front splitter?
Are you referring to the red stripe? I did that with Vinyl myself. I had some material and tools and did that in an hour
A good way to learn the second button is to go to a car wash, wipe down the door handle and… zzzzzzzzzzt. Keys locked in car.
Oh no. I know we have all done that. Heart drops when realizing.

can the cigarette lighter dummy socket be used for a 12v accessory, such as a phone charger?
