I need SIX HOURS of Pollak telling stories about Matthau and Lemmon!! Keep 'em coming!!
i'm with you!! man my childhood lol
Kevin Pollak never misses when it comes to stories.
There are a few comics that have ended up being quite good actors. Tom Hanks, Greg Kinnear and Jonah Hill has been the latest
Kevin has been such a smooth fit for so many second tier/first tier roles with some of the greatest directors and actors. DeNiro, Pesci, Nicholson, Matthau, Lemon, Spacey, Scorsese, Rickles...he's had an unbelievable career.
Man I'll listen to interviews all day long about Walter Matthau and Jack lemmon
My grandpa was of the silent generation, he did not watch movies. But, he LOVED grumpy old men. So glad i have those memories. Thanks.
I know a million people have already said it but I'm going to be 1,000,001........."Rich, please don't ever stop doing these interviews!" They are awesome!!!!
Love love love Grumpy old men, I have it on DVD, watch it once a year.
Our oldest son was in isolation due to leukemia, I brought Grumpy old men to his room to watch; it was the first time he'd laughed in a month.
That memory is one I hold dear to my heart. He passed away 3 weeks later.
Dear,God😞I am so sad to hear.God speed to you and your family!
Grumpier Old Men is sheer perfection. One of the few sequels that was better than the first.
Mathau and Lemmon. What a duo!
I can watch that over and over. I will laugh like an idiot.
Nah, 1st was better IMO.
Burgess Meredith and the euphemisms for 'bumping uglies' is comedy gold
@ agreed
Burgess stole the movie and Sophia Loren as Maria Ragetti was the perfect addition to the ensemble! Everything was smoother, the script was better and funnier and the pacing was far better than the first one. Memorable and endearing performances from everyone involved!
Walter Mathau as the coach on the movie Bad News Bear's was and still one of my favorite movies as a kid
We met Kevin at one of his comedy shows after. He is just as genuine as he appears in this talk with Rich. Very nice man to everyone. A treasure.
When I was about 18 I worked at Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto. There was a horse called "Mikey Likes It", after the Life Cereal ad. I used to love it when legendary track announcer Darrel Wells would say "Mikey Likes It coming up the rear..."
I'll bet you could tell some wild stories, yourself, about working at Woodbine Racetrack!
Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon were such legends! They really were! ALways so funny and awesome. Always remember Mattahu as such a cantankerous character that he played so well!
As an ice fisher myself who fell through 2x and lived to talk about it, those were 2 great movies.
Pollak has always had a likability to him in his characters and certainly interviews. Great stories and one helluvan impressionist 💥
Kevin Pollak is a great storyteller!
Kevin Pollack is a MASTER story teller!
We, my family and I, actually were able to watch the filming of the movies. One of the scenes we were able to watch, was the Halloween scene from Grumpier Old Men, we were standing in the front yard of the house next to 'Walter's house'. Front row 'seats'. It was amazing to watch. Walter and Kevin were on the porch of the house and Walter accidentally pinched his finger in the screen door. He let out a yell, and filming stopped immediately. The director, etc all ran up to the door and Jack came running down the sidewalk to make sure Walter was okay. A few minutes later, the paramedics are calling for ice and Walter yells out: 'Ice! Ice! My kingdom for some ice!' Everyone on the porch and within hearing distance, lost it laughing. A great experience and memory.
I love Grumpy Old Men & Grumpier Old Men
My cable station here every so often plays these movies, back to back. I like that.
Saw it in 93 when I was 10 with my Scottish Pop Pop….one of the memories I cherish….seen it hundreds of times, both films….1st one is an all time comedic masterpiece …whenever I’m sick or not doing great I watch it and for those 2 hrs all is well
Those movies are my favorite, I loved those 2 old men
Kevin Pollak just being Kevin Pollak, so Friggen Hilarious‼️🤣
Liked ❤ even BEFORE listening. Kevin Pollak, what an extraordinary guest. One more story/impression please.
The bar used in the film is where my son hangs out!
Slipperys in Wabasha…too bad they didn’t actually film inside that bar
He is the only actual hollywood celebrity ive ever met he was very cool and funny
I love that in one of his last movies, Out to Sea, Walter Matthau plays a gambler who goes on a cruise to find a "rich broad" to hook up with so he can pay off his gambling debts.
Matthau meeting a stunning Sophia Loren for the first time in the table read of Grumpier Old Men: "Great to meet you, love to eat you."
I heard Pollack tell that exact story during a stand-up routine 20+ years ago.
I really like Kevin Pollak…….he is such an underrated actor, not sure why?? He is an Excellent actor.
My high school was on the same village lane as the WW2 RAF base that Walter & Jimmy Stewart were stationed at. 👌🙏👍
He was so good in those. My favorites.
That tiny part of the entertainment industry that makes it ALL tolerable! Fantastic!
I would LOVE to hear that tape. LOL
My cousin lives in Pacific Palisades CA and has met many celebrities, as a realtor he's had Farrah Faucet in his passenger seat because her limo couldn't do the sharp curves up the driveway of a home for sale she wanted to see. And a favorite of mine is years ago he was at a hardware store near his home years ago, Walter Matthau lived up in the hills near there, and while my cousin was in this hardware store, the door opens, and it's Walter. He watches Walter walk to the counter with his old soldering iron that's not working, and asks the guy if he can order parts so he can fix it himself. The guy says "Walter, I don't know if I can even find parts for it, it's so old. Why don't you just buy a new one and save time, Walter says yes, that sounds like a good idea, so he buys a new one. And my cousin is standing near them watching & listening to this exchange. Walter was a frequent visitor to this hardware store, and he liked to tinker and fix things by himself. My cousin has met Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jake Lemon, Howard Morris 'Ernest T. Bass' And once he was walking and Dick Van Dyke was walking next to him, they had a nice talk. I love my cousin's celebrity meeting stories.
I was in the Same math class as Country Superstar Deana Carter 1981 when I lived in a suburb called Goodletsville TN, met her 30 years later when she did a show near my hometown in NW Minnesota and she signed my High school Annual!
Treasure it to this day.
These 2 movies are absolutely great
Grumpier Old Men is the first movie I remember crying while watching. The fishing hole scene with Jack and Burgess.
Rich this interview is GOLD ! Well done bud
I loved both those movies very much!
How is Grumpy Old Men not considered a Christmas Movie yet???
Both Grumpy movies are great.
I see Kevin Pollak, I click
I just watched grumpy old men Free on RUclips. I forgot it was a Christmas movie. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. They are so funny. Thanks for the memories
The movies and cast were great. Awesome comedy duo
Worked in an orthodox jewish deli/restaurant years ago on the lower east side in NYC and remember an old man who also worked there mentioning Matthau as being a degenerate gambler. Old man had a few stories about several actors & actresses of that era.
Thats what i named my 1976 12 ' ft Sears & Roeback ' V ' Bottom fishing boat :
" Grumpy Ole Man "
I get the impression that even George Carlin, the master of the Seven Words You Can’t Say On Television”, would have blushed at that tape.
Loved both of those movies!
This was a great story❤
Probably one of my favorite thanksgiving movies, besides Planes, Trains, and Automobiles.
Stories like this are awesome!
I live in Minnesota and I have fish the Grumpy Old Men fishing tournament many years❤
Bad News Bears came out when I was in little league so it’s a favorite of mine forever. Also loved Casey’s Shadow which had a long run on cable back in the early 80’s. I love the “old men” movies as well. Saw both in the theaters.
I never met Walter Matheau. I did meet Walter Pigeon once. Helluva nice guy.
Same for me. met Walter Brennan once.
Morbius!
Kevin pollak is the man.
As I understand it, Jack klugma nand Tony Randall were going to do it as a series, but Klugman passed away. That would have been interesting.
This was hilarious ! 😂😂😂
Walter drove one of my all time favorite Ferraris, a 275GTB in a movie.
That’s awesome
Great story 😂
Good stories .😂
Jack lemon was 67/68 during filming...kevin is now the same age...doesnt seem very grumpy though
Hey just think the scrapped 3rd movie was going to be called Grumpiest old men! 😂
Walter Matthau and Fred Astaire.. what an odd couple 😃
"Odd Couple" would make a great title for a play.
One of my all time favorite Beatles songs! Thanks Mike. As a lifelong guitar hack, I know this song was way ahead of it's time for the volume swells used in it. Just brilliant.
And George's voice is just as good as the others, just so much talent in one small space.
Uuuuhhhhhh......I think you commented on the wrong video.
Walter Matthau's Real Name Is In The Credits For The Film Earthquake 😮
.. still waiting for the sequal-sequal, "Grumpiest Old Men." That's some MENSA-level stuff right there.
Classic!
Sorry but Grumpier Old Men is a helluva lot more creative than simply adding a 2 to the title of the first movie. Like Everyone Else dies
My youngest son would put it in to ' De Grumpify ' me, then Grumpier old men came out and my abbbs were never the same after that.
Who is this Rich Eisen guy?
I could have sworn Bradley Whitford was the son in Grumpy Old Men
Nah. Kevin Pollack is a far more talented actor.
Fred astaire long game coidic timing who knew he had any talent
I bet you could pick three words out of a dictionary, and Pollak could tell you a story involving them.
I thought grumpier old men was a good title
Today’s entertainers will never come close to the legends of Hollywood, except for maybe Denzel, Washington and a few others. If you were an athlete or comedian in the last 10 years, please quit acting. I’m tired of seeing you.
Hollywood is disgraceful
And these podcasts make it worse
🖕🏻
You’re nuts.
This is awesome
