Kevin Pollack interviews are in a league of their own.... all Rich has to do is say 5 words and Kevin's like "oohhhh that reminds me of a story!" and goes off on a 10 minute gem of a story that you never want to end
He is so underrated, but the sad truth is looks matter. He doesn't have that leading man look. Tale wise, he's up their with the best. He's like a jack of all trades. The problem is that he has no real lane. People are afraid of stereo types, but stereo types take you to the top. You have to be great at something.
I never thought about that before, but that's exactly what that is it's just a creative, talented version of the significantly less impressive yet still effective "just say the names of things people remember"
If you think William Shatner is a hammy actor with a stilted, staccato delivery, this is the man to blame for that. His impression of Shatner is so popular, so pervasive, other comedians do their Shatner impression by copying Kevin Pollak. The impression has become the reality.
he exaggerates it for sure, but he was honest about the origin of it, that they kept rewriting his lines last-minute so there was a lot of halting and reaching for the next word.
@@MichaelBonner-m6v man that just reminds me of a story Jim Cummings tells about when he got to meet Mark Hamill, and he's asking him to do voices and he's just like scientifically observing and fanboying out like "oh so there's no falsetto in Pooh at all, fascinating" and Jim's like "hang on let's get something straight. *You* aren't getting to meet *me,* _I_ am getting to meet _you."_
So Shatner turned like 90. He was so adamant that he did not sound like Kevin Pollack I had to say I did not realize Bill Shatner could do such a spot on impression of Donald Trump! 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Go CUSE! Brockman that’s for you! Guys I love it when you have Kevin Pollak on. I watch, I rewatch, I rewatch again, I show my friends…both of them, and they watch and rewatch. More please! That is all! GoCUSE!!!
Wow, I’m not sure I’ve ever heard Kevin Pollak tell this story before but since I’ve been watching him on talkshows and doing interviews for decades, I probably did but my spotty memory just doesn’t remember 😂 I also like watching his podcast, and he truly is one of the greatest impressionists in the business, but also a terrific comedic and dramatic actor as well (in fact, my wife and I just watched “A Few Good Men” over the weekend, for like the umpteenth time, and he was a perfect partner/foil for Tom Cruise)
I remember seeing Kevin in Mack and Jamie’s Half Hour Comedy Hour. He was a bit player in that show and to see him ascend the way he did into serious acting was impressive.
I was just watching a video of him from the late 80s talking about the making of Star Trek 5. And then this video was suggested.. wow we all have become old..lol
What Kevin's referring to regarding the ",off-camera" line readings us this: When two actors are doing a scene and it's a "two-shot," or a scene with two people talking with each other, sometimes one of the actors will just be filmed saying just their own lines, without the urger actor reading their lines. However, many directors and actors don't like this, and many directors and actors will insist on filming the scene with both actors talking to each other----which is how it should be done.
"If I can think of someone you like and I can recreate them in front of you, I'll steal the affection you have for the actual person." I've never thought of it that way before, but he's right.
I met Kevin 2 times once while he was shooting whole nine yards at the wrap party and we chatted aboit jack Lemmon and Kevin was cool with me. Second time was at joes pizza in santa monica he was cool again. 👌
My favorite story from Kevin Pollak is about him actually meeting Peter Faulk and Faulk telling him "I understand ME doing that thing with the eye...my glass eye sometimes gets misaligned and has a mind of it's own...but how DO YOU do it with 2 GOOD eyes...I just don't understand that" 😂🤣😂🤣
Great story,, i Love doing my Peter Falk impression ,,,we Must get together and drive folks insane doing, Peter Falk. (This i would tell him if we actually were talking)
So... Kevin's memory is that of a normal human being as that's not exactly how his first interview with Johnny went, but it's true that he did Falk and that Johnny loved it. Kevin's version does make for a better story however and that's what actors and comedians like to do.
The weirdest part of this is that he seems to be out of practice doing Falk. Nobody does him as well as Kevin, but he’s not quite on it here for some reason.
High quality video content! I have another question: someone transferred me some TRC20 USDT and I have recovery phrases: [pride pole obtain together second when future mask review nature potato bulb] How can I monetize them?
@@ppuh6tfrz646 Bull. No one but the perma-offended care. It's an impression born out of love for Falk as all impressions are. The man himself wouldn't care one bit is my wager, he was open about it.

Kevin Pollak is a national treasure. Always love watching interviews with him!
What a completely underrated actor. Love this guy!

The problem is that he has no real lane. People are afraid of stereo types, but stereo types take you to the top. You have to be great at something.
As a Columbo superfan, I find this heartwarming and hilarious. Such a great impersonation!
It's hilarious to think that Pollak would be so committed to the bit that he did the glass eye part of the impersonation *even* over the phone.
Maurice LaMarche always does it too even in voiceover. They are amazing performers.
I am willing to bet that Pollak almost has to do the eye trick in order to get into the proper mindset for the impression.
I like to think he was also chewing on the end of a cheap cigar and wearing a trench coat.
he goes from Peter Faulk to Paul Riser seamlessly lol
His story about calling Alan Arkin was the funniest story ever.
I just realized that Paul Reiser and Alan Arkin are the same person.
"Kevin... Can I have my life back please?!?"
The most underrated impressionist ever
Sheer brilliance. Kevin Pollak is so talented and smart and such a wonderful story teller.
His Christopher Walken going to trader Joe's is hilarious
Kevin is so amazing! Love his Shatner impression.
That last observation shows that Kevin truly understands the impersonation dynamic. A master!!!
I never thought about that before, but that's exactly what that is
it's just a creative, talented version of the significantly less impressive yet still effective "just say the names of things people remember"
Kevin’s William Shatner is the absolute best .
Always loved Kevin Pollack whether serious or comedy damn good actor
The Johnny Carson's impression... 😮
If you closed your eyes you could not tell it from Johnny
If you think William Shatner is a hammy actor with a stilted, staccato delivery, this is the man to blame for that. His impression of Shatner is so popular, so pervasive, other comedians do their Shatner impression by copying Kevin Pollak. The impression has become the reality.

This is a truth. The "comedian" versions of Shatner have made us look at him more closely for the traits the comedians have over exaggerated.
So Shatner turned like 90. He was so adamant that he did not sound like Kevin Pollack I had to say I did not realize Bill Shatner could do such a spot on impression of Donald Trump! 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Pollack is a legend IMHO...
OMG! How he does that thing with the eye is truly frightening.
I love when he's doing the Carson impersonation, he's doing all of Johnny's mannerisms. It's the little subtleties that make an impersonation great.
He's one of the great talk show guests, just ask him a question and he'll take it from there.
I absolutely love him. He is a Master Level Prankster.
This was a great conversation with Kevin Pollock thank you Rich Eisen

As soon as he does the eyes 'which is wrong in a way' I just lose it, so efin funny.
My first encounter with Kevin was in The Usual Suspects, loved him in that movie! He is a great actor and funny as hell!
Pollack is a classic

The eyes 🤣🤣
Funny..Pollak should have asked Reiser “one more thing, sir..am I bothering you?”
I met him once and yelled out WILLOW, I loved you in WILLOW! And he yelled back at me… FVCK YOU!!!
Um. But why?
Johnny loved the eyeball thing. 😂😂😂 “do Falk again!” That’s a pretty good endorsement from Johnny Carson.
One of my favorite stories; I got to see him do it live.
Loved Kevin P's "Talkin' Walkin'" podcast years ago where he would do Chris Walken without breaking the whole time (still available on Apple)
Kevin Pollack is 10x better than Carvey and I love Carvey.
I was just watching a video of him from the late 80s talking about the making of Star Trek 5. And then this video was suggested.. wow we all have become old..lol
thanks RE and guys He is always just Gold! love sports talk but we gotta laugh too. thanks
I've been feeling like crap this made me laugh feel better thank you😅
One of the best Walken impressions also...
This is so great.
I literally could not tell he wasn’t Paul Reiser or Peter Falk… O did not know he did impressions!!!
Kevin needs a podcast

Now that's sereal.
Peter Falk died a few years ago. If he calls today its a call from beyond....
And since there's no beyond it for sure is Kevin Pollak.
Great story,, i Love doing my Peter Falk impression ,,,we Must get together and drive folks insane doing, Peter Falk. (This i would tell him if we actually were talking)
I'm having a burrito
Eisen has his desk up on a hill like he's king faroouk.
He's actually starting to _look_ like Alan Arkin.
"Frankenstein never scared me"
"Marsupials do. Because they're fast!"

Did you know Kevin is actually an ancient alchemist?
Underutilized in Hollywood.
And why do we know that he couldn’t get through to Johnny Carson by phone? because we’ve all watched the king of comedy.
His impression sounds like the old man character on crank Yankers that Jimmy Kimmel does.
Не предполагал, что у Стругачёва такой прекрасный английский
LOL
If I ever get a call from Peter Faulk, I know he is risen from the grave I know where he buried in Los Angeles.
The weirdest part of this is that he seems to be out of practice doing Falk. Nobody does him as well as Kevin, but he’s not quite on it here for some reason.
Hahahaha
My first thought is what was a ten year old doing up late enough to watch The Tonight Show?
_Everybody_ watched Carson then😊
If you actually got a call from Peter Falk, you should go see an exorcist. He died in 2011.
If Gene Wilder was a comedian.
Kevin your daughter Anna Faris has been trying to get ahold of you for weeks.
This is so crazy cuz I have no idea who Any of these people are
Alllan arkennn
Of course it’s Kevin because Peter Falk died almost 14 years ago .

"Willow" was forgettable. Kevin is not.
Was pollack in usual suspects
I must be watching the wrong clip. Where’s the part where he actually sounds like Peter Falk?
that sounds like peter falk?
It would be, as he is dead.
It’s not as funny as him leaving a message for Alan Arkin as Alan arkin
Why is he wearing a table towel?
doesn't sound At all like him.
Imitating his voice is fine.
Imitating his glass eye isn't.
I found it hilarious and I like Peter Falks work. To each their own.
@@buddyalbert5808 I like Peter Falk's work as well but mimicking someone's disability doesn't sit well with me.

When is he gonna do Peter Falk?
OMG KEVIN, CAN YOU DO SOMETHING F'KIN DIFFERENT ? You've been doing the same act for 40 years
