No, my grandpas were both good men. The old kraut one is funny as fuck, he just hasn't had a drink or a smoke in fifty years. We tune that old bastard up he'll probably burn the house down.
RIP Walter Matthau (October 1, 1920 - July 1, 2000), aged 79 And RIP Jack Lemmon (February 8, 1925 - June 27, 2001), aged 76 You both will be remembered as legends
Antonis Kyriazis You moron, he's not actually Greek.... It's from a TV show. Lol. Stelio bro, you might have to put the tape on and teach this guy a lesson.
I‘m from Vienna/Austria/Europe and my mother language is German. But everytime I watch these two genious actors, I get this feeling like meeting my favorite uncles.
These two are my absolute favorite comedy team! I love their individual work in films as well. But as a pair, they're a dime a dozen! Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau are a national treasure! RIP gents. Thanks for all the laughs and the cinematic memories.

I love how much of a kick Jack gets out of Walter and visa versa. They must have laughed their asses off together while they were still with us. Absolute legends of comedy. Their humor is timeless and it still completely slays.
They were best friends and respected each other even though played bickering neighbors in Grumpy Old Men and Grumpier Old Men and friends in The Odd Couple in 1968 who the opposite of each other.
I love these two men. Their feel good movies, charm, humour, and charisma were untouchable. They were old enough to be my Grandpa’s. And imagine sitting with them over coffee and hearing wisdom and making me laugh at the same time. I miss them so much.🩷.
I recall sitting with Walter in the clubhouse at Hollywood Park race track in 1977 when I was racing, and he was the most funny, down to earth guy I've ever come to know, as we were both tying one on, and after the races, walking him our ahelping him in to the back seat of his sister's Camaro after the races. Great guy, and a great actor!
Take a look at each of their repertoires to understand the range they were capable of. Not just damned fine actors but - in my opinion - the two finest actors we will ever see.
Isn't the reason you're saying that is because they are the Epitome of fine actors of their Era! They represented a dying breed who were so funny it hurt! Lol.
"The taking of Pelham 123" and its final scene comes to my mind! Watch WM's character's response to the reaction of Martin Balsam's character! Underlined by David Shire's soundtrack... enjoyed Mr. Matthau so much!
No-one will match the class these two fine gentlemen exuded. Such comic masters in their own right but together...absolutely masterful in their characters in their films together. Yes very truly missed.
As a kid i stumbled two of this guys movies, i did not know who they were but they made me laugh a lot and after the experience a felt i loved them and they were my pals. Also as a kid it made look at old people like they were actually kids like me, this to guys shaped my life in a way. Later i learned they both were some of the greatest actors ever.
Me too as a kid. I loved the two old guys bickering all the time. I loved Walter, that guy seemed like such a kind, genuine and funny guy i about cried when he died
Im a younger guy (34). The first time i saw these two together was grumpy old men. Then grumpier old men. That was ages ago. Nesrly when those movies came out. The best part about these men in those 2 movies was that i always thought they weren't *really* acting. I always thought thats how those two would actually interact in real life had they lived next to each other. Thanks for the laughs, gentlemen. I miss you.
Andrew Jack I am 32 and became a fan of Lemmon and Matthau after watching Grumpy Old Men and Grumpier Old Men with my parents as a kid and my grandparents were fans of the movies. I have seen The Odd Couple 1 and 2 along with The Fortune Cookie. Never forget watching Walter Matthau in Charade from 1963 at my Grandparents house with my late Grandma Rose who passed away in 2006 as she was into the classics and seeing him as a bad guy after seeing him in movies like Grumpy Old Men.
These guys were so good together, and also individually in movies I remember going back to the 60's. Walter in Ensign Pulver and Fail-Safe. Jack in The Wackiest Ship in the Army and The Great Race. Then they made The Fortune Cookie, the chemistry they had together was obvious. The Odd Couple in '68 cemented that. I was young then and they always made me laugh. Many years later, my daughter loved Grumpy Old Men as a child, we watched it together many times on VHS. We both laughed all the way through it. And unlike many sequels, Grumpier Old Men was just as good if not better. They gave me a lifetime of entertainment extending into my next generation.
I love these men, and the movies they were in together like grumpy old men, grumpier old men, the odd couple 1 and 2, and out to sea. May they rest in peace.
two legends it hurts they're gone then I try to remember that legends never die...remember and remember them pass it down from generation to generation that legends never die on the streets and in the screen real people love forever because we need to continue to speak they're name never gone never forgotten
I miss these guys..they have always been a blast when they appeared together...their best performance in my opinion is the movies grumpy and grumpier old men..

Matthau is wearing a 70s tie in the 90s, love it!
The funny thing is it doesn't look dated but pretty fashionable with his suit.

What about Vin Diesel?
Agree 100%
Tom Hanks , Denzel Washington , Brad Pitt . Unfortunately there are no Neil Simon's anymore
What a time to be alive
Those two dudes could make my laugh on my death bed. Love em both and God bless their souls.

Matthau was that rare human being that is just effortlessly funny.
A lot of his banter. It is so timeless and comes off so naturally, That's really what makes it so charming.
Homer Simpson's original voice, when they were on the Tracey Ullman Show, was based on Matthau.
You could tell how much they loved each other as friends.
