Jack Lemmon was one of the greatest actors to ever grace a stage. He is up their with Bogart, James Stewart, Cary Grant and Gary Cooper. Man Jack could sure give a speech.

I was born and raised in USSR and one of the few American films that were let into theaters was the non-political "Some Like It Hot". Jack Lemmon's Daphne was the character I liked the most as a teenager, although he didn't get "the right side of a lollipop" in the end. The humanity and humor of his performance weren't lost in translation. Thank you and rest in peace, Mr. Lemmon!

Spoken from the heart by a man with a heart....remembering Jack Lemmon. I met him once at a golf tournament in L.A. and he could not have been nicer to me. He signed my "Some Like It Hot" LP and looked through a book of photographs (showing him in various films) I had brought with me and laughed (he said "oh wow") as he looked at them. A memory frozen in time for me as I shall not forget it.

Among my favorite movies in which Jack Lemmon starred in was "Some Like it Hot, The Great Race, and The Out of Towners." I also get a kick out of watching Jack and Walter Matthau in the "Grumpy Old Men" outtakes. Wished he hadn't passed on so soon. Jack might have been up in age, but I'm sure he felt so much younger and vibrant at heart. R.I.P. Mr. Lemmon. Your acting talent remains legendary to this day.

My opinion is that very few actors get to play roles that are truly touching (remember the good comments Jack Lemmon made in his speech where he talked about acting being a noble profession). I think Jack Nicholson was a lucky actor to play more than one roles that were really touching and a lot people could relate to the depth of. I think he was lucky to get those offers. His own contribution was to try and do justice to those by his habit of working very hard. For example, his part of R. P. McMurphy in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest is an iconic one. There are others too.

Two examples of this are “The China Syndrome” and Try to catch him and Warren Beatty’s sister Shirley MacLaine in “The Apartment” and then there’s “Some Like It Hot” and one of my favorites as a kid from 1965 “The Great Race” where he played Professor Fate in which he was hilarious with Peter Falk as his henchman/sidekick Max played by Peter Falk.
