Jack Lemmon was and is one of my very favorite actors. He was so versatile that he could play anything, and he had the good fortune to be respected and beloved by so many of the people he worked with. It's so very sad that he's gone.
One of my favorites! Such an amazing and entertaining actor! There will never be another like him. RIP Jack Lemmon. Thank you for all of the cinematic memories! 😎👍🎉🎊🙏❤️
16:14 the restaurant scene! One of the best Hollywood pieces ever! I saw that more than a dozen times... ...and still tearing my öaughters! The mimic of Walter peaks this masterpiece to the top. 😎
I wished that they would show these AFI tributes in their entirety. I love to see some of my favorite actors and actresses being recognized by such a prestigious organization such as the AFI. 🎉❤
Isn't UTube just awesome! I've seen several of the the whole shows that used to be edited for TV. Keep checking as I'm sure there will be many more here in future!
@@olivegreen337Not really, it had some funny moments. "Days of Wine and Roses" (1962), was sad and depressing. A great movie, nonetheless. One of Jack Lemmon's best performances, and one of director Blake Edwards' best films.
That was a very good speech from Jack, showing his certainty in and the delight he felt in acting, and was as good as any of the speeches he made in any film. I always loved his performances because he comes across as a natural actor who does it without trying, even though that makes it sound like it was easy for him, and that he didn't have to put in effort, which of course will not be the case. I don't think he ever gave a performance that was less than "very good", and mostly way above that. Whenever his films are shown on TV (rarely now), I always set the box to record them, as he's always worth watching in anything. :-)

They gave this award to this ham and didn't give it to John Wayne, Charlie Chaplin, Cary Grant, Burt Lancaster, Robert Mitchum, Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Olivia de Havilland, Jean Arthur, Sophia Loren, Deborah Kerr... Unbelievable!!

No mention of Ernie Kovacs? I believe Jack was good friends, and made a few movies with Kovacs before he knew or even met Walter …

Ginger Rogers never got this award either …

That’s the thing about comedy…it looks so easy. It is not…

What a ridiculous remark! Ham?? Have you been paying attention?
@@patwooster3851 yes by all means. Can you name ONE classic movie with Steve Martin or the same with George Clooney?.
It’s not just about classics.
Which I love, don’t get me wrong. I too think about actors not honored with this award in their lifetime, but…
