    Hi chommang, I’m from Kazakhstan, I’m writing through a translator, I don’t know if you’ll see these comments, but your videos help me a lot in learning, I’d like to get a new video from about hair in more detail (if there’s a similar video, I apologize) so how hard it is for me to figure out how to draw wavy lines, especially when I draw girls, trying to figure it all out!!!!

      прив, я тоже из кз! с волосами мне помогло то что я начал изучать как правильно делать штрихи (как правильно держать ручку, вести локоть), оказывается мне именно этого не хватало. потом я просто пытался наблюдать за любимыми художниками и их штрихами, срисовывать используя уже полученные знания. всегда заставлял себя вместо 2-3 линий делать 1 красивую, перерисовывать весь скетч заново чтобы штрихи были чище и понятнее. В волосах это важно, потому что их форма очень похожа на поток, и если не следовать ему то будет выглядеть очень не натурально

    • @ZerxClow
      @ZerxClow 6 месяцев назад +3

      @@direboy спасибо за совет, я лично готов следовать любым инструкциям с этим, буду пока пытаться срисовывать и делать одну красивую линию и менять потом волосы, добавляя детали и пряди

    I remember watching your old videos like this about drawing head with this method, i dont really like drawing and rarely does it but i get great grades on my college drawing course thanks to your tutorial videos! that circle for eyes guideline is really useful, and i think seeing the guideline as a sphere instead of a circle is the most important thing to keep in mind when using loomis method

  • @Hyperguyver2
    @Hyperguyver2 6 месяцев назад +27

    What needs to be emphasized is understanding how the head is shaped and how everything else interacts with that shape. Like knowing the human head has more in common with a box than a sphere or ellipse

  • @TheGreatBubba

    I think the hardest thing Ive come across since learning to draw is trying to break this perfection habit I have. I think its a age thing as Im older now, but seeing how youre able to tackle a pose/ head without worrying about every line being perfectly placed is nice to see. Hope to achieve this skill level over time where I dont spend more time on the base foundation of a sketch than I do the overall piece.

  • @esthykechan

    I love that this video came along on my feed bc I’ve recently been studying the Loomis method and hoping to switch to using it after using the simple circle method for years

  • @vineq9367
    @vineq9367 4 месяца назад +5

    Well, now i understand the Loomis method helps a lot to recreate the structure of the head, learn the proportions that sometimes in real life it doesn't follow, and know how to place each part, after a lot of practice, you can master without the guides.

  • @YamiBaddy
    @YamiBaddy 5 месяцев назад +38

    I learned the Loomis method starting out and it was really nice to have it as a crutch.
    But I always felt like my heads still looked odd.
    At some point I just stopped using it and freehanding heads and that's when I got a lot of nice looking ones.
    I think what happened was me using the Loomis method to construct the head, without really thinking or looking at the overall look of it; basically, draw by steps without thought-process.
    Glad I did, because it made drawing a lot more fun!

    • @GM-dg6mj
      @GM-dg6mj 5 месяцев назад +2

      i pretty much tweaked the loomis method a bit and added my own understanding from it, i no longer draw the upper half of the vertical line on the forehead, just the lower half for jaw length guidelines

  • @ZaiDrizzleDrop
    @ZaiDrizzleDrop 2 месяца назад +20

    Woooow your seriously pointing out my frustrations with the Loomis method and the tutorials that teach it.
    I'm a simple guy, so when I see a ton of guidelines in tutorials I get frustrated, so many little lines I have to remember.
    I especially hated when I was told that the "ideal" human body is 10 or 8 heads tall. But that can only really be used when the drawing is standing straight, not for dynamic poses.
    I'm really interested in your more simplified approach, because I avoided tutorials for a while, they were hard to follow and really specific, so I think I'll become a member to see your stuff.
    Heads are really frustrating to draw.

    쭈욱 그림을 그려온 사람으로써 정말 무릎을 탁치고 갑니다. 진짜 고민하신 흔적이 보입니다. 남들 다 똑같이 그 이론으로 그냥 이해없이 그리고 있고, 저 또한 앤드류 루미스 방법론으로 그릴때마다 약간 애매한 부분들이 있었거든요. 딱 그 이야기를 하시네요. 저는 어릴때부터 만화가가 되고 싶었지만 되지 못하고 현재 평범한 직장인이 되었습니다. 취미로 글을 쓰고 그림을 그리려는 유튜브를 만들었고 우연히 다른 그림 유튜버들을 어떠신가 하고 보게 되었다가 선생님 영상을 몇개 시청했는데 그림에 대해 시작하신것도 그렇고 모든 의미들이 참 대단하신것 같습니다. 구독했고 자주자주 시청하겠습니다. 개인적인 롤모델이 생긴것 같아 기분이 좋습니다. 유튜버 말고 그냥 하나의 순수한 구독자로 늘 보겠습니다. 인물 샤프 그림을 자주그리는데 선생님 스타일로 가이드를 잡고 한번 그려봐야겠어요. 감사합니다!!!!
