  • AliExpress LiFePO4 (Version 2) Case Battery Review | Even Better Portable Budget 12V LiFePO4 Power
    In this video we look at the latest (version 2) AliExpress NYDPP LiFePO4 Case Battery. The use cases from the previous case battery review ( • AliExpress LiFePO4 Cas... ) work just as well with this version. At 12.8V (100Ah), this provides plenty of portable power and long battery cycle life that doesn’t break the bank. This was purchased to provide a method to extend the battery capacity (runtime) on our existing solar generators as they are not upgradeable or expandable. Another driver was to have something that was still portable and could be used in its own right without the need for a solar generator. A big win with this battery (and the previous) is how well it works with our 12V MPP Solar Inverter 1012MSE ( • Video ). If you are researching portable power or solar generators before making a purchase, why not check out our Solar Power playlist - bit.ly/2OsIKmH as it might be useful.

    Hi there! :) Very helpful video I must say! Just one more question if you don't mind.
    Could I hook up this battery to my outboard motor alternator output? In my case this is Yamaha 40 HETL, and output says: 12V -17A with rectifier/regulator.
    What I would like the most is that I could keep this battery pack in my boat and having it connected to outboard motor so I can charge it while driving.
    Thank you in advance!

    • @DADvinci
      @DADvinci  2 года назад

      @Siniša Dukarić Good day! Thanks for your generous feedback, it's much appreciated 😊👍. I wouldn't recommend connecting directly without a DC to DC charger as the voltage needs to be LiFePO4 friendly and current limited otherwise it could fry your alternator (LiFePO4 takes as much current as it can which could cause problems). There are a couple of options from Renogy or Victron, but you'd still need to be able to control the amount of current it draws due to the 17A limit on the outboard. This video explains the issues with alternator charging > ruclips.net/video/jgoIocPgOug/видео.html. I use a small (10A) solar charge controller on my batteries with a 12V/24V dc power brick which then turns any 12V DC supply into 24V DC so is in the range for the MPPT to work on my controller and charge the battery. I hope this helps. Please let me know if you would like more on the specifics. All the best, Adrian

In Paris i cannot charge it using solar panel, so i thing about taking a battery like the one you show but 12v 200A. And i need to be able to charge it really fat when going to supermarket. Do you think a case battery 12v 200a can handle a charger 12v 100a (that i can find on aliexpress - goal charging in 2h) ? thank you

      @etiennehoarau8804 Good day and thanks for your question. Just to confirm, you are referencing the 12V 200Ah case battery from the link in this video description? If so, under the technical parameters section it has the following ‘6. Maximum charging current: 70A’ so this is the best charging rate you could get. I hope this answers your question? • @DADvinci
      @DADvinci  8 месяцев назад

      @kierangrimley6978 Good day and thanks for your question. I've not tried a 36V battery out as yet. I usually stick to 12V/24V and soon to be 48V, as I can use them with inverters and DC accessories. I guess I could use one to charge another battery, assuming it accepts somewhere in the range of 36V (MPPT input on EB150 is up to 60V).
      It might be worth checking the number of amps the trolling motor takes on start-up. The BMS on the 36V battery might not be able to deliver, just worth a look first. All the best, Adrian

      @Reviews On This and That Good day! Thanks for your generous feedback, much appreciated👍😊. I chose this one based on its compact size, handle, not needing to mount it against anything and decent reviews. It also has replaceable fuses for added protection. So far, it has been a good choice as it works fine with both case batteries, without the extra bulk of the larger 'mountable' inverters on Amazon and AliExpress. I hope this helps? All the best, Adrian

      @@DADvinci Hi, yes I agree with it having a handle, being compact and having replaceable fuses too makes it a good choice. Thanks for letting me know I appreciate it man. I have a 12v 40AH LifePo4 battery, as I plan to turn it into a portable charging box with solar MC4 ports, Anderson ports, USB ports and a DC socket as well, so gathering info on which inverter and what to go with. Thanks for replying back man, I appreciate it boss. I wish I knew someone local to help me with this for wiring and safety reasons. Take care now.

    • @DADvinci
      @DADvinci  2 года назад

      @Reviews On This and That No problem at all, glad to help. One question I do have is what is your 40Ah LiFePO4 battery rated for in terms of charging and discharging current? The reason I ask is that using an inverter like the one I've got (1000W) is likely to pull too much current from the 40Ah battery if used to run higher drain (wattage) AC devices. On paper as a rough example, if you try to pull 800W continuously this equates to approx.12.8V x 62.5A = 800W. If your battery has a max discharge current of 40A, then you're going over what it can deliver. If it has an in-built BMS (battery management system) that has over-current protection then it's likely to trip out. If you could have a look at the discharge current limit that would be good. Cheers, Adrian

    Hi - really helpful videos - can two of these 150ah case batteries be connected to provide a 300ah system?

    • @DADvinci
      @DADvinci  2 года назад +1

      @Alex Gath Good day Alex! Thanks for your kind feedback, it's much appreciated😊. I've used my 100Ah batteries in parallel, to increase Ah, with no problems. I always make sure the voltage is the same (as close as possible) on both batteries before connecting in parallel as they will try to balance between themselves. The best/quickest way I've found is to fully charge both batteries individually before connecting them together (if you can't match the voltages very well in the first place). Having battery cables of equal length and gauge is also a good thing to get current flow as even as possible for both batteries (don’t put one under more stain than the other).
      From what I've seen, manufacturers usually specify if you shouldn't connect in parallel in the specs or on the battery label itself. NYDPP haven't, so that's why I use mine this way. If you wanted to ensure this is also ok on the 150Ah (I've only got their 100Ah), then it might be worth pinging them a message on AliExpress before purchasing. This should give you the 300Ah setup. I hope this helps and please shout if you need anything else. All the best, Adrian

      @Adventures of RustyBits the Campervan Good day and thanks for your question. That's unusual in terms of currency. You can change your location/flag (for correct shipping rates/times) and currency in the top right-hand corner on the main webpage. As you can imagine, I order a fair bit on AliExpress and in the main it's reliable, with only a couple of things going missing in the years I've been using the site (got money back). You're also covered by their buyer protection > bit.ly/2MeWsfr. Any delays are usually caused by UK customs, which has been more noticeable since Brexit. It only affects an odd order now and then. I ordered an Alpicool C15 fridge from AliExpress on 16th June and it arrived yesterday, so really pleased with that delivery time. Also saved me over £30 from the price on Amazon, which I'll take over a longer delivery time. I've not had any additional import duties or VAT on either of the case batteries, but might be worth you dropping the store a message before hitting the button to purchase. I hope this helps. Ok so that make it a dead serious dangerous battery

    • @DADvinci
      @DADvinci  2 года назад

      @LithiumBoat Solution I'm not sure what you mean. All batteries can be dangerous if not used correctly. I wouldn't be using these if they were dangerous. I can't comment in terms of using these on a boat (judging by your RUclips name), but they may offer a level of protection against moisture which is greater than a DIY pack (depending on DIY build). I wouldn't personally throw one overboard to test how waterproof it is. These are budget batteries that offer an alternative to those who wouldn't want to create their own DIY battery packs using raw cells. This is an example of someone doing that on a boat with LiFePO4 cells > ruclips.net/video/XUfiYUFD4QQ/видео.html. Cheers, Adrian

    • @lithiumboatsolution5389
      @lithiumboatsolution5389 2 года назад

      I think we need to take the security approach. Lifepo4 is just as dangerous than nca or nmc li ion cells. You just need more temp build up to get the fire going. The is the user safety approach and the transport safety. Both indicate a responsible and capable manufacturer.
      First and for most a cell manufacturer gives max min temp use. If you don t have a max and minimum temp cut off for discharge and charge the battery is dangerous to the user. Also it would need to pass un38 3 test which it can t if it doesn t have the right "limitations" so legally it can t be transported. The right label would be a class 9 label not a square red lithium battery label which is for less than 100wh
      Now if you take the un38.3 test critereas you will see a simple test. Fully charge the battery and short it . If it can t pass that without burning up or the very least some sort of fire or gases then the battery is no good.
      If it doesn t have low temp protection then the battery can be recharged below zero meaning there will be dentrites that will finaly create internal shorts. Most likely when it is fully charged and of course where lifepo4 give off rhe most flammes.

    • @DADvinci
      @DADvinci  2 года назад

      @LithiumBoat Solution I can't recall the labels attached to the packaging as they were delivered some time ago. These batteries are LiFePO4 prismatic cells wrapped together, with a BMS attached and stuck in a case. Other than the BMS not having low temp protection (from what I understand), it's equivalent to a DIY build. The BMS has worked properly when it comes to over current and low/high voltage, disconnecting as expected. The certification provided by the manufacturer is supplied on the product page (link in the description) and you can send them a message should you wish to find out further details.
