    I would not of expected anything less than brilliant from these two. A balanced, uncomplicated and informative conversation.
    The way Pran pulls from a variety of disciplines to provide a compelling view of what and how we are meant to eat and live is 👏.
    Adding farming to his bow is taking the Hippocratic oath to another level - skin in the game.

    As someone who sometimes struggles to understand the scientific terms and jargon that professionals use to talk about health, I really appreciate how you choose guests who articulate themselves so well (including yourself) in a way that people who haven’t studied these topics before can easily understand. Especially ones who give advice on how someone like me can live and become more mindful of their health in general. It’s inspiring and motivates me everytime I listen to one of your podcasts :)

    Excellent discussion! Maintaining a healthy gut is a key to good overall health. Our gut is basically our second brain. To have a healthy gut means having the right balance of tiny bacteria and other microbes in our digestive tract. It's so important to keep the gut healthy not only for digestion, but also for immune function and many other functions in the body! Sincere appreciation for this video and all the valuable information you sharing with us Max and Dr. Pran! Thank you!🙌❤👍

    Fantastic interview, throughly enjoyed it. Dr Pran has a unique view, you don’t come across too many gastroenterologists that follow a largely animal based diet!

    I’ve had many colonoscopies by several very good gastrologist, I’ve never had anyone tell me to eat meat before colonoscopy. before a colonoscopy you’re told to eat broth soups, popsicles, clear liquids, definitely not meat.

    I don't know what to think as this man keeps changing his stance. A few years ago he mentioned in a youtube video that the avoids cheese etc as he likes to get his fat from meat. But in this interview he mentions that he likes to eat high quality cheeses. He also mentioned a few years ago that he avoids carbs but in one of his latest insta post he mentions he eats sweet potatoes and white rice for dinner. Seems like something in his blood work or imaging reveal that it was critical that he needs to add some carbs to his diet? he should talk about why he now has a sudden change of heart for carbs otherwise its just confusing with the information that he comes out with.

    ### Key Takeaways from Dr. Pran Yoganathan on The Genius Life Podcast
    1. **Gut Health and Disease**: The gut microbiome's health is crucial, with imbalances leading to chronic inflammation and diseases like eczema, psoriasis, and acne. Leaky gut syndrome, where the intestinal barrier becomes permeable, is a significant factor in many inflammatory conditions but often goes undetected in standard medical examinations.
    2. **Dietary Evolution and Health**: The transition from hunter-gatherer diets to agriculture-based diets has had profound effects on human health, leading to changes in gut health, stature, and overall well-being. The modern shift towards ultra-processed foods further exacerbates gut health issues.
    3. **Gut Microbiome and Diet**: A healthy gut microbiome is essential for overall health, with dietary choices playing a significant role. Avoiding trigger foods without addressing the underlying microbiome issues is ineffective. The widespread normalization of gastrointestinal symptoms like IBS indicates a prevalent gut health crisis.
    4. **Environmental and Corporate Influences**: The use of agrochemicals in farming, driven by corporate interests, has detrimental effects on gut health and increases the prevalence of diseases like Parkinson's. Traditional farming communities, such as the Amish, exhibit lower disease rates, suggesting a link between modern agricultural practices and health issues.
    5. **Protein and Gut Health**: Protein, especially from animal sources, is essential for gut health and satiety. It stimulates GLP-1, a hormone that aids in feeling full. However, the quality of the protein source matters, with grass-fed and finished meats being preferable due to their better nutrient profile and lower exposure to antibiotics and pesticides.
    6. **Fiber and Gut Health**: While fiber is beneficial for a healthy microbiome, its effectiveness depends on the state of the gut flora. Extreme dietary recommendations are not conducive to gut health; a balanced approach is necessary.
    7. **Plant-Based Diets and Health Risks**: Plant-based diets high in ultra-processed foods can lead to protein deficiency, muscle and bone mass degradation, and chronic inflammation, underscoring the importance of a balanced diet that includes high-quality protein.
    8. **Nutritional Awareness and Personal Responsibility**: The modern diet, influenced by the ultra-processed food industry and compromised dietary guidelines, contributes to health issues. Individuals need to take responsibility for their health by making informed dietary choices and being aware of the broader societal and economic forces at play.
    9. **Red Meat and Cancer Risk**: The link between red meat consumption and colon cancer is weak, with most studies showing no significant association. Red meat is nutrient-dense and can be part of a healthy diet when sourced responsibly.
    10. **Mindful Eating and Lifestyle Changes**: Mindful eating, awareness of food's origin, and the practice of mindfulness can enhance gut health and overall well-being. Personal health journeys, like Dr. Yoganathan's, highlight the importance of questioning conventional medical wisdom and exploring alternative health approaches.
    11. **Supporting Sustainable Agriculture**: Supporting organic and regenerative farming practices can reduce the chemical load in our food system and improve health outcomes. Engaging in activities like growing organic vegetables or raising chickens can help individuals regain control over their health and resist societal manipulation.

    I was hoping he would talk about his way treating IBD based on his experience but he didn’t really talk about IBD for more than 30 seconds. I have IBD and have not found a doctor who thinks outside the box. I have seen brilliant doctors but all of their dietitians are plant based.

    • @pranavanyoganathan8046
      @pranavanyoganathan8046 6 месяцев назад

      Perhaps doctors that align themselves to restrictive dieticians aren’t thinking outside the box?

    • @Joannabanana1989
      @Joannabanana1989 6 месяцев назад

      Yes. That is the point of my comment. Doctors here do not think outside of the box with treatment. It is all medications or surgeries. It does not mean they are not smart (in my eyes). That is why I was hoping to hear your take on treating IBD if you don’t follow the normal standards of care.

    I think it's funny how you refer to the happy cattle. I'm sure they weren't so happy the day they were slaughtered. And that all the people still pushing for meat based diets have over looked at the research at what happens to the animals body the days leading up to slaughter. You are literally ingesting that stress and fear that the animals body produced before death. Just like humans secrete hormones like cortisone and adrenaline. So does that animal. Not to mention how wrong it is. You enjoy freedom but want to take it from another life form. I feel like society is getting what it deserves. Eventually nature will right what humans have done wrong
