I've been watching Tomas' videos for 4 years now and I never knew about his childhood. It just goes to show how capable we all are of growth, he's come so far! Amazing! (I can relate having some similarities in my childhood, loosing 85lbs at 30 years old after two children, going back to collage and graduating on the deans list, and being in the best spot physically that I ever have been. I'm still working on the mental but I feel like that's something everyone is continuously working on.) I have just started watching the Genius Life podcasts and I can see me watching more in the future. 😊
Thomas DeLauer and Mark Sisson are the only people I found to follow a similar approach as I do. IF and Mediterranean style keto/low carb (loads of plant fiber, seafood, and mostly mono and polyunsaturated fats). It works and you cant tell they consistently look great, healthy, and age extremely well. They make mild modifications according to research, try it for themselves, and then share with others. They talk the talk and walk the walk. I trust them a hundred percent.
I think on Instagram I guessed that the upcoming podcast had Taylor Delauer ! I'm so sorry! I meant THOMAS!!! I watched Thomas's RUclips videos off and on in 2018 / 2019! I was always fond of his critique of products at grocery stores. The what to buy, what to steer clear of items in Wal-Mart, Costco, etc. I really liked those videos! Sincerely love the two of you guys together when it happens!
Thank you for the chat. Thomas is an incredible asset for so many of us who are trying to maneuver our way through health. Great to see a personal interview- very encouraging. Love the balance!
Max...thanks for bringing great content to the podcast world. This was an amazing chat with Thomas DeLauer who shared great conversation, ideas, and inspiration.
Thanks Max. What an absolutely incredible podcast collab between you and Thomas!! Listening to the both of you is both incredible interesting and enjoyable! Cant wait for more.
Great, podcast. Interesting to hear Thomas say he doesn't do keto anymore. I thought he was doing it cyclically. I've been rotating keto for a couple months with more carbs (like 100-150 grams of carbs centered around workouts) for a couple months. But I am lean and metabolically healthy and performance focused and have been considering adding carbs back into my diet for all periods of the year.
I hit a wall with Keto after 6 months, lost 20 lbs and hit a wall. So I am not surprised at all by Thomas pivoting from keto. It ignores balanced macros: carbs, micronutrients from fruits, etc. I just pivoted to Vertical since it matches what I was doing 15 years ago, where I went went from 210 to 185, rather easily. 2400 calories (deficit) with balanced macronutrients, 3 meals of 800 calories per. Not hungry and have much more clarity, energy and strength…Let’s see how that translates to body recompostion and waste size, since scale can be misleading. But, as I said 15 years ago I had it dialed in and it was Weight Watcher charts, essentially the Vertical diet: 40, 30, 30 macros.
There are thousands of athletes and performance-driven people who are in their 70s and 80s now. Arnold Schwarzenegger or Sylvester Stallone, to name a couple. Just look at Olympic athletes from the past 50 years and you'll have your case study right there
Was a pleasure to chat with you, brother! Always love our deep dives!
Cant wait for for the next one Thomas!! Could have listened for hours..
Good podcast. So you don't do keto at all anymore, not even cyclically for a few weeks at a time?
@ThomasDeLauerOfficial you should podcast more. Your knowledge is underrated. Coming from someone that studies like you do.

Thank you for talking about the struggle of how to teach your kids to eat without damaging their relationship with food ❤
