Excellent interview with one of the greatest yet again. I never miss any interview Sal is in. Most of it is common knowledge to the fitness enthusiast/PT etc . Theres always one new nugget that i can retain . Thnx to you both !
One of the most helpful breakdowns. This is exactly where I am. Was getting a bit discourage looking at the scale even though my strength is going way up (pushing higher weights, but put on 2 kgs since starting).
Newbie here and weight has stayed the same for about 2 months. Very discouraging but noticing the strength increases, estimated VO2 max increases, and rough body comp increases in lean mass with decreasing fat. Hang in there to everyone else getting started! That weight number may not change at first, but the more muscle you gain, the more calories you'll be burning and you're getting close to noticing a weight change.
You’re going to look back on this and be so grateful you stuck with the course and measured by strength and how you feel. The fat will come off eventually, and you won’t lose a fraction of the muscle everyone else does when they just crash diet and lose a ton of “weight”. Keep killing it man👊🏻
Sal mentions in other podcasts to pay attention to level of hydration and ensure good sleep patterns to ensure the body is able to heal itself. Stick to it. Best of luck!
I’m 23, 5’11 210lbs and tying to get to 190. Is a zig-zag diet healthy for me? I’ve been trying out 1500 calories during the week and about 3000 on the weekends. Consistently hit 10k steps a day+ and lift heavy 2x upper body 2x lower body per week.
I think what people say is you can't boost fat Bruning by using sporadic high calorie cheat meals. That is different than raising calorie intake gradually to find your new maintenance level.
Lost 14 lbs in a month just lifting 6days a week and walking incline. Walking doesn’t make me more hungry unlike running. Walking targets fat running burns calories from what I’m told
I'm English and whilst Italian food is definitely better than our cuisine overall, English breakfasts and Sunday roasts are actually both very good and can be part of a healthy diet.
Do you mean the body fat percentage? That is the percentage of someone's total mass that is fat. The Body Mass Index (BMI) is a person's weight in kilograms (or pounds) divided by the square of height in meters (or feet). A fat guy and a bodybuilder could have the same bmi but different body fat percentages.
@@casdavies I have five bikes of different types, and I was doing ~200km per week up until covid. For some reason I haven't had time for that since. I'm missing it for sure.👌
@@SHINYxCHROME my bench is getting closeish to that target, I'm 115kgs, and can do 3 sets of 6x140 after a warm up. I'm fairly sure I could do 230kgs once for deadlift, but definitely not for squat. Maybe one rep at 100kgs. Though I do, do, 5 x 100kgs farmers walks for about 20 meters twice a week.

Chicken, Lamb, Whey Protein shake.. plus eggs of course . .. easily done.. I put choc whey protein with greek yogurt.. really nice alternative to shakes.. makes a great dessert
It’s basically impossible to get fat eating whole foods. That’s why it’s so important to cut out all processed stuff- our bodies aren’t built for it. You can eat 8 chicken breasts, fruit, veggies, ect. - and not surpass 2,000 calories. It’s not about eating less- it’s about eating more, pounds of food, that have less calories since God only put like… 5 calories into all fruits and veggies. Only 200 calories in chicken.

Sal is such a guru! I am amazed at the energy Sal has to understand so much and share so eloquently.

Amazing, Sal breaks it all down very nicely.

Bro the weight doesn't matter, the fat % is the key.
You can also had grilled/tin tomatoes and mushrooms to the full English breakfast as well as sausages. The eggs can be poached or scrambled too.
I’ll be happy to go from 30% to 20% 🤷🏻♂️
This podcast is very complimentary to Dr Andy Galpin’s guest series on Huberman Lab. Definitely more science but it’s a great follow up to this one.

This is all great advice. But u can make major progress by only eating decent, and hitting the gym weights hard. Worry about splitting hairs later on.
That was the exact recommendation at the end of the video
is running alot or sprints for 15 min is the best way to jump start cutting fat?

I don't actually know what Italians eat? Probably more salad than we do but the rest is pasta, bread and processed meats isn't it?
Sal Di Stefano, must get bored repeating the same msg. No processed food, eat plenty of protein and lift heavy things. 2 second podcast done
And yet no one listens lol
Where in that is the variety of rep ranges covered.
I can do the weight lifting and protein bits but the processed food…🥲

Change speed to 1.5x!
This is great, but how do you go from 30 odd percent body fat, when you lift 5 times a week (3-4 hrs), and already eat only meat and veggies.
Focus on strength. Bench 1.5x body weight, squat 2x body weight, deadlift 2x body weight.
