The problem with Stan's advice is that he's 100% right. Many of the things he recommends require someone to actually put in effort (such as going on a 10 minute walk after each meal.) The unfortunate truth is that almost nobody is willing to do these things unless they're an athlete--the regular person doesn't have the motivation or discipline to do these things on a day-to-day.
People love to make excuses oh my legs hurt oh im tired oh im having a bad day etc. As someone who got up to 16 and a half stone (due to drinking lots of alcohol)and only started training 1 and a half months back im now 15 and a half stone so I've lost a stone. In this last month and a half i've learned some things. Theres no such thing as motivation its just disipline i was just being lazy and making excuses to feel good not willing to sacrifice to get better.. But now when i hear people in better shape than me make those excuses it kind of irritates me. So what your having a bad day? you're not motivated? you hurt? So what. If you only work on yourself when you feel like it you get no where. If you only train on good days then what the fuck are you doing on bad days sitting in bed like a pussy? At this point for last nearly 2 months i've got up and jumped rope. Went for a 2 mile run. Go boxing for an hour, spar with some friends then skip to cool down and do a second two mile run at night as well when its dark and cold and relaxing. There is no excuse just laziness. Soon enough i will be 11.5 stone but for now im still considered moderately obese but its going down every day. so if i can do it anyone can do it, i know im still fat but i have lost a stone so im feeling pretty good these days and now that i know motivation isnt real it feels much more like a part of my normal routine to just train eat and sleep. I have bi polar and since i started training this hard i barely feel mentally ill, which i did for the last 15 years.
