Rhino is such a joke. The cooler, the white Hummer with rims, the chinless sidekick, the steroid abuse into old age, the gimmicky diets....its all too much
I remember my grandma used to mix ground beef, rice and broth together also. She feed it to my cousins when they were babies. This is also really good for babies because it’s easy to digest and don’t require much chewing.
I always rinse the rice before cooking it... you never know what's in it, it COULD have lots of dust particles from the warehouse or factory it was shipped to and from, chemical/pesticides residuals, bug carcasses or droppings from bugs or rats if the warehouse is filthy, etc etc etc... it's always better to rinse it a few times even if it looks clean!
It also helps to reduce the starch content. I also parboil it, strain and then put in in a pot with some thin slices of butter on top and bake it for half an hour. Fluff after cooling. I also boil it with Himalayan salt, some cardoman, big cardoman or two, a broken stick of cinnamon, a couple of bay leaves and a few cloves. The smell and flavor comes out lovely but you can't do it this way in a rice cooker.

I love how meticulous Stan is when it comes down to every little detail. Watching these kinds of videos makes me want to go home and eat the monster mash I have ready in the fridge and go for a 4 mile walk and be as healthy as possible forever lol
"OK. I'll go ahead and flip them. Now just another 4 minutes and they'll be done." NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Btw, short to medium grain rices form less resistant starch when cooled. The same is true for all waxy starches as they are high in amylopectin instead of amylose. Amylose will form resistant starch unlike amylopectin.
Stan's legit! He is a no nonsense, no bullshit kinda guy... I've been on his Vert Diet for a month and love it, its the easiest diet I've ever been on and the results are beyond doubt!
No no that wasn’t Stevie Ray, that was his kids screaming in the background. Tomorrow when you’ve came down off your acid trip re-watch the video. Reality check Son
Love monster mash. Down south we call that dirty rice. Couple tips to try add what we call holy Trinity, onions , beep peppers and a little celery. One more thing add some chicken broth to water in rice cooker. I will say this cotsco stuff is definitely the best. As for BBQ pit , cut yellow potato in half, once pit heats up rub potato on grill. That spinach thing looks yummy
Really great ideas here! Just what I needed to help me lean out. You could totally put in any clean dry seasoning to this to add flavor, chili powder, cumin and or mediterranean spices, jerk season, jamaican all spice/ curry or even ginger, garlic, chinese 5 spice
Trick I use for green shakes..... I’ll take 2-3 containers of spinach, and slowly add them all in a blender mixing with coconut water. I want to make a fairly thick “sludge”, and then pour the whole thing into ice cube trays. Usually makes 6 trays worth. Then each day, I pop a few of the cubes into a single serve blender like Stan has here. Add some room temperature water and fruit, and 1-3 second blend for a very quick shake
You’re talking about a guy who needs a super cooler with secret compartments to keep his powdered drinks straight... i’ll buy into his crap when he shares his hormone protocol
Stan, old cooking tip... if you want to break up ground beef and "mash" it up into rice fairly easily, use a regular old wire wisk. It will break up your meat really quickly without smooshing your rice too much.
Hey Stan, noticed you didn’t wash your rice! There are several benefits to doing this, less starch, grit, clumping, etc. Not to mention the rice taste better. Mike
As a home chef I have often wondered why strongmen and bodybuilders do not use sous vide at their preferred cooking method. It is in my opinion the perfect tool for you! You can cook like experts Chef every time without screwing it up, the time frames are far more flexible and the quantity is as much as you need. For example : 1- You hit the button 2- Drop the prepackaged meat as is into the water. 3- you come back anywhere from 2 to 12 hours, remove pack and serve.. Perfectly cooked every time to the exact temperature. If you prefer a Sear on it you can sear afterwards.
Ooo wee that steak cooking hurt my soul haha. I use cast iron for all my steaks. High heat get a nice sear. Salt and pepper before let it come up to room temp (the steak), render the fat if there is any on the outer rim. Cook for 2 minutes a side on again searing hot heat, 2 minutes for a rareish steak, 3 for a mediumish. Any more is too much. One both sides are done for their time, turn temp to super low and toss in butter garlic and thyme. I like to play with different herbs but those are my go to. Baste and flip, baste and flip. Then into aluminum foil and let rest for a minimum of 10 minutes. I get amazing steaks every single time. The times are for thicker steaks, BTW. Rib eyes and new yorks. If they are less than a inch or so think, I'd bring the time down 30 seconds or so.
This was a very awkward video, Stan's making all these steaks and burgers and the phd guy looks starving in the background and doesn't even get to try anything haha
Hey Stan you're the man! Thank you for the video And for all the great content you've provided over the years, I am very grateful. I would like to share my version ("Greg's goulash") I cook 1lb of ground beef, bison, turkey or lamb in a pan with one diced sweet potato. While that is cooking I prep the rice with bone broth instead of water in the pressure cooker. Then I mix it all together in the pan with 1 pack of taco seasoning. Add sour cream at the end to balance it all out. For an even easier to cook lower carb version (no pressure cooker needed), I add in one pack of cauliflower rice to the meat and sweet potato mix in place of the white rice. Same pan cooking! Thank you, Greg
excellent from stan. I tried the majority red meat nutrition over egg whites and chicken and its unreal results, 5x times faster recovery no matter how heavy or intense i train and it makes you feel far less fatigued , more focused, fueled, stronger , feels like im on steroids.
Talk about ruining a good piece of meat. You’d think for as knowledgeable as some of these guys are they’d know that. I think the 165 was directed towards the bison but I’d guess that’s the same as beef.
@@SammyJoeLouis real talk, though... can you imagine having the boys over and throwing some steaks on the grill... then you pull out a thermometer to make sure they're all extra extra well done. Yeah...let's just order pizza.
Look I'm not trying to bash this guy I think he's pretty informative and has obviously made a great life for himself but unless it's the speakers on my phone I swear he's struggling to breathe
Stans a really cool guy, but he is obviously taking some form of additional steroid compound/s supplemented in with his regular diet as there is no way that you can get that type of muscle shape and overall definition in his body just by eating red meat and training alone. He has a very extensive bodybuilding background which blatantly gives this away. He states that he also helps Brian Shaw and Thor with dietary advice, but people dont understand that both Shaw and Thor were insanely massive way long before they ever met Stan Efferding.
He said in a seminar he overcooks the higher fat meats which, if they are marbled enough, kind of “fries” them and says he enjoys that flavor more. He wouldn’t necessarily overcook a low-fat, cheap steak like this.
Who the hell is stab? I’ve never heard of him. Wait are you talking about Jack the ripper? Or maybe the night stalker? Yeah never heard of stab.Go back to your whole hollman.
I buy one Costco container at a time. I have a wife and a five year old daughter. Plus a 8 month old baby. So the fridge can only hold about a weeks with of my mash. I usually only meal prep two days worth of food at a time. Planning on adding an additional freezer into my garage.
Mark thanks for posting this. Stan thanks for the info, I've been eating the bison for the past year with phenomenal results. Can't wait to try the mash! Got everything today and had my first spinach "shake" delish, and can't wait to feel the results. Thank You, both!!
Incorporated a lot of this into my lifestyle with good results thanks for doing what your doing. I'm not about to go 100% tho I'm not a competitive athlete so I enjoy myself :)
jweber544 / Hanuman Remember that what you think of as 100% is probably 80% of what you’re actually capable of. If willed hard enough we can do crazy things.
@@AML45610 um no. I know what 100% is thanks. I used to track every meal, no matter how awkward, persuade my friends/gf to only go places that showed macros/calories. I would avoid social occasions and shun my friends because I didn't want to have to eat something different from my plan, or miss any sleep or drink alcohol that could add extra calories, reduce muscle or mess up a workout. I would workout pretty much no matter where I was or how awkward it made things for others. I would measure bodyfat, how many hours of sleep I got, stare in the mirror constantly etc. After nearly 5 years of becoming more and more obsessed I had little to show for it and my mental health and self esteem was in the toilet. Once I started being more normal, stopped tracking calories, stop recording my sleep, stop worrying about how my body looked where my bf% was, I began to feel a lot better. I noticed that once my bodyfat was at a relatively normal level I didn't really care about it anymore. Getting lean was like a disease for me once I was there it fucked with me constantly. Being normal allowed me to actually enjoy life again, and what a surprise I started making some of my best gains in the gym. Some of the biggest and strongest natural guys I know personally are the same way, they don't let lifting weights consume or define them, it's just something they enjoyed doing, and so kept doing for years or decades whilst living normal lives.
Thx to both of you, I think this is an aspect of lifting/fitness that many people ignore, most of us don't make a living off competing or from the fitness industry, its very unrelatable and at times unhealthy.
Ryan O'Connell it depends on what it’s in reference to. If he’s referring to protein amounts he doesn’t say 40,000 milligrams of protein. He just says 40 grams. But when it’s smaller quantities like what vitamins and minerals are found in they typically are just 100mg here and there so it’s just got specificity sake.
Has anyone tried Stans prepared meals that are sold on his website? I am particularly interested to hear about the monster mash. How did you like the service and the food???
I doubt he's trying to make the meal gourmet. He's just trying to get in the adequate calories and nutrients daily, at a certain point, when you're eating the same thing daily, it's just easier to throw some shit together and eat it. I'm sure he could make a nice steak and roasted potatoes + mushrooms dinner if he wanted to, but that's just not time efficient when you're eating 4+ meals a day. I follow the diet and honestly, meal prepping with some ground beef with spinach, bell peppers and carrots and throwing in some white rice cooked in chicken stock is delicious, quick, easy, and better than grabbing a tuna sandwich.
You've clearly never had the luxury of shopping at an HEB grocery store in Texas. Hands down the best meats and produce anywhere. Makes Costco look elementary!
@@shawnedwardnajvar Your logic is seriously flawed. Of course I've been to HEB. I've shopped at both Costco and HEB for many years. This is pointless; you're just going to keep saying random stuff for no reason lmao.
I shop at HEB all the time. Also have known many in my area of Texas that are local butchers that have been butchering meat for decades. Costco is definitely the best. It’s pretty widely known that they have the distribution channels and infrastructure that has allowed them to source the best quality meats in the US. In fact, like the guy said in the video, Costco sells USDA choice or better. Most HEBs are 95% USDA select and maybe some choice or prime options depending on the store location you go to but not much.
I make monster mash like this....Cook beef on stove rare.Toss in a pressure cooker with rice and bone broth instead of water.Add vegetables and pressure cook 2 min.Done
I made Monster Mash with white rice on one variant and butternut squash and turkey on the other, both with bell peppers and spinach mixed in. Both were awesome but I'm going to try it with moose and caribou next time
He absolutely ruined those steaks. "165 to be safe" - No thats chicken. 121-125 for Medium rare. The fact that hes gunna reheat these cremated hockey pucks is insane. Way to ruin $35 worth of good meat.
When you eat meat take the bones and add them to a crockpot. Fill it with water and bones let it go for +10hrs on high. (This way you can let it cook and don't want to watch it) Beef bone marrow bones is an amazing choice btw. When you cook white rice WASH it first and even soak for extra benefits. Dump that water and cook it in homemade bone broth not water (1½ cups broth to 1 cup of rice) the rice will absorb all the broth into it.
Stan is one of the most impressive lifters ever. He has big numbers under his belt, he's jacked & super intelligent on all things lifting and in this case eating like a champ.
"Monster mash" is actually congee. My partner likes to make me a "white person" congee with turkey, ground rice, chicken stock, carrot, curry leaves and lots of garlic. It's delicious if you let it simmer on the stove and you can add whatever you like to it.
0r Mexican Picadillo. just saute onions, add meat then purred boiled tomato with garlic clove then zucchini squash, carrots and potatoes. salt pepper n cumin. rice.on the side. take on the road in thermos.
Yea man exactly... Stan "can you be in my video" Staring guy "yea what do you want me to do? Stan "stand in the background, tell the camera you have a phd then silently nod in agreement with everything i say..."
@@captainsuperrthicc5477 that's not entirely true. Try doses will help you hold it longer, but you will lose it. I'm sure he throws a blast in here and there to get back up there again, but he is already a big guy. I'm in yet and every 6-8 months I have to throw a shirt blast in to stay a decent size, not competition size but just to hold on to a good amount of muscle and then sustain it with trt
@@beentheredonethat5908 you will still need lower dosages to hold on to mass than to build it, but i wouldnt deny what you said. You will probably lose it a lot slower, but eventually get down to what your hormonal levels would allow you to build.
Stan Efferding, why do you pour the chicken stock in with the rice and meat? Why wouldn't you just add it to the rice cooker and incorporate it that way? Thanks for the video supertraining06!
There's a channel called chase irons where he cooks most of the vertical diet foods all together in a rice cooker at same time. His channel is really good for ideas on applying stans vertical diet practically
Also if you have a gas grill and like that smokey flavor just get a block of whatever wood you like (mesquite, oak etc.) Let it sit in a bowl of water for 30 mins or more, and just plop it on the grill. It'll generate smoke when you close the lid. And get that smokey flavor
I’ve never seen so many negatives comments on a Stan Efferding video in my life. “He doesn’t engage his guest enough, he cooked the meat to 160 degrees, why can’t he just scoop rice with a cup, he’s making dog food.” Christ. If you listen to his other content, he cooks this because it’s easier to chew and get the nutrients and he likes the taste better, meaning he’s more likely to adhere to the diet, and every other complaint is pointless. He engages the Dr. plenty. Try learning instead of whining. If you don’t like it then don’t implement it.
Pimento cheese I was looking for this comment! Literally laughing out loud... my dog gets the beef/rice and broth concoction whenever he has the shits from getting after it. Haha 👍 *Edit. I add canned pumpkin too ... he scarfs it down like a beast. 🐕. Good times
If you cook your greens you get more out of it! I cook my greens in large batches with just a couple splashes of water to keep it from burning. Not only does it pack more green into a smaller bite, but it makes the nutrients more bioavailable as well!
Wow I’ve been making “monster mash” for years....thank you internet. So what do I call my oatmeal with milk, banana and peanut butter... banana mash? 😂 After singing that back it cracked me up. 😂
@24:20 How do you sneak your thermoses full of mashed goodness by TSA for mid-air consumption? Wouldn't have thought they would be considered solid, but maybe you just go light on the broth and then insist vehemently that they aren't remotely liquid?
Yeah... there's a lot of that in bodybuilding and weightlifting... I mean even regular joggers "I gotta burn this off"... Its actually sad. These people are spending a small time of their lives prepping and eating a lot of bland stuff.... That's why a lot of body builder's lives seem depressing.
I don't think Stan is too worried about getting sick from under cooked meat. He was handling raw meat without washing his hands afterwards, and pretty much touched everything in his kitchen.
That's because he's an uneducated fuckwit who knows nothing about diet besides what gets you big. Nevermind what makes you sick. He definitely spends 3 hours a day on the porcelain wondering "why oh why is my stomach a mess all the time".
ArmaRes he didn’t touch the meat with his skin, he hand tin foil between him and the bison. He even mentioned it when he put the ground meat on the grill
@@Yakushii why would he spend three hours a day on the stool? I eat just like this and have no digestive or stool issues. Now when i take out carbs my bowel movements are rough but i have to increase potassium and shit flow like water.

Bob Sapp yeah add spinach and it’s wedding soup
Reheat those steaks for 2mins? Will they remain “easily digestible” once they’re leather gloves?

I love how meticulous Stan is when it comes down to every little detail. Watching these kinds of videos makes me want to go home and eat the monster mash I have ready in the fridge and go for a 4 mile walk and be as healthy as possible forever lol
When Stan said "cook these steaks to 150, maybe even 165" I died a little bit inside
He’s making beef jerky monster mash
I pull my steak at 110-115.
Because I typically do a reverse sear on the grill.

He’s talking about the ground bison
If it ain't medium well you can keep it I'm good on any version of rare
More cooking and nutrition stuff please
What happened to McCune's chin?
Btw, short to medium grain rices form less resistant starch when cooled. The same is true for all waxy starches as they are high in amylopectin instead of amylose. Amylose will form resistant starch unlike amylopectin.
Stan's legit! He is a no nonsense, no bullshit kinda guy... I've been on his Vert Diet for a month and love it, its the easiest diet I've ever been on and the results are beyond doubt!
What are the benefits that you have experienced? What was your starting weight, and where are you at now?
Stevie Ray Vaughan in the intro...im actually so happy people still listen to this legend!

@@kelseywhite3014 ZACTLY!! Not everyone has grasped the easy on the gut diet outline. Besides, Ribeye don't need too much help tasting awesome!

Stan is a legend
Stan, old cooking tip... if you want to break up ground beef and "mash" it up into rice fairly easily, use a regular old wire wisk. It will break up your meat really quickly without smooshing your rice too much.
It's a minor point, but pigs are not ruminant animals according to Illinois. EDU.
I thought the same thing
medusa little but he wasn’t talking about pigs he was taking about cattle u know cows 🐮. Pay attention next time

@@briantime9880 uhh, nope... you should pay attention. He mentioned pigs, jackass.
Hey Stan, noticed you didn’t wash your rice! There are several benefits to doing this, less starch, grit, clumping, etc. Not to mention the rice taste better. Mike
That was weird to me. He talked about starch levels but washing rice is the best way to reduce starch and also actually clean it just in case.
He said he wanted the extra calories so didn’t wash
for how much rice he eats, it would add up to like a week of his life washing rice.
washing rice is not a good idea

As a home chef I have often wondered why strongmen and bodybuilders do not use sous vide at their preferred cooking method. It is in my opinion the perfect tool for you! You can cook like experts Chef every time without screwing it up, the time frames are far more flexible and the quantity is as much as you need.
For example :
1- You hit the button
2- Drop the prepackaged meat as is into the water.
3- you come back anywhere from 2 to 12 hours, remove pack and serve..
Perfectly cooked every time to the exact temperature. If you prefer a Sear on it you can sear afterwards.
So simple, yet so genius. Stan is the f'ing man
Conventional beef is finished on grain at the end. I think that guy mispoke and pigs are not ruminants. Support sustainable local agriculture
Thank you,
Greg
Gonna give this a try, sounds really good

Better than what? If the man wants his food this way then let the man eat his food that way.

I trust Stan's advice. He looks very healthy.
How does the TSA like those hot thermos containers?
Tony Seefeldt no they do not. You might get through but they’ll harass the s***t out of you.
they like them better than the "supplements" being brought in.
Can't take that much fluid.....
Looks like what I feed to my dog
Pimento cheese
I was looking for this comment! Literally laughing out loud... my dog gets the beef/rice and broth concoction whenever he has the shits from getting after it. Haha 👍
*Edit. I add canned pumpkin too ... he scarfs it down like a beast. 🐕. Good times
Pimento cheese ok
P
@@NODAK9 Had a good laugh before going to bed from this :)
My dogs literally get the same shit when we run out of their wet food
If you cook your greens you get more out of it! I cook my greens in large batches with just a couple splashes of water to keep it from burning. Not only does it pack more green into a smaller bite, but it makes the nutrients more bioavailable as well!
Fry up the rice with the spinach before adding to the "mash"
Damon Mccune is the one to follow. Thanks for the cranberry juice tip at Trader Joe's.
20:11 That looks interesting.
Could you do a breakfast video? I know eggs are of course on it but what else? OJ?
Wow I’ve been making “monster mash” for years....thank you internet. So what do I call my oatmeal with milk, banana and peanut butter... banana mash? 😂 After singing that back it cracked me up. 😂
You pack banana 🍌 and oats in your crack what? Ok art, Whatever floats your boat bro. Have fun with that.Typical musician.
Crazy cooking steaks to 160, 130 medium rare the ticket, never had a problem.
Save every calorie. Grills the meats
@24:20 How do you sneak your thermoses full of mashed goodness by TSA for mid-air consumption? Wouldn't have thought they would be considered solid, but maybe you just go light on the broth and then insist vehemently that they aren't remotely liquid?
Following…
This looks like misery kibble. I get that it's convenient but no way I could power through that for more than a couple meals.
Yeah... there's a lot of that in bodybuilding and weightlifting... I mean even regular joggers "I gotta burn this off"... Its actually sad. These people are spending a small time of their lives prepping and eating a lot of bland stuff.... That's why a lot of body builder's lives seem depressing.
Justin White I guess if the only thing you have in your life is eating food, your life sounds depressing lmao
@@danboone5672 I was talking about bodybuilders and shit.
Its actually pretty good
Little Spokane Brewing Company - Have you tried it? Considering the chicken stock, I’m pretty sure it’ll be super tasty.
I loved the thumbnail. Most people crop their sleeves to show muscle. He’s just like,
“Na. I’m big. You know I’m big.”
That second bowl of Monster Mash looks more like a Monster Turd
That pretty much sums up what it taste like also. I know ,I tried it once and chunked 🤮
please go over how to set macros on the vertical diet.
Old Iron King not when he was putting the stakes on the grill.
@@Yakushii why would he spend three hours a day on the stool? I eat just like this and have no digestive or stool issues. Now when i take out carbs my bowel movements are rough but i have to increase potassium and shit flow like water.
