When I was 17 I was pretty much a total mess, hyperactive, and probably ADHD. Which fed my overwhelming insecurity. Then I went to this Church is a warehouse called ,Jesus Unlimited. Never really thought about what I wanted until then. I never thought my life was about what I wanted. But I nailed it down that day. I wanted the Kingdom of God that is in my heart,to make my world the same. From that day on ,and I’m 65 now,I’ve found joy and happiness i the opening of my heart wherever I am. Every night before I go to sleep,I look back at what my open heart brought me ,peace and contentment, security I can trust in to close my eyes and dream of the could be’s to come. Mine is the kingdom within and nothing less.
I made the choice to turn around my health and the next day I broke my ankle falling down the stairs. I am not mobile at all around the house because I am overweight and I can't pull myself up on my non dominant leg. I now see how a healthy weight and strong muscles will benefit you in case of an accident. So I now have the motivation and I know my WHY I want a healthy weight.
If you can cut out sugar and intermittent fasting you can lose weight so easily. I'm fully disabled and can't aerobically exercise to lose weight. I had to lose weight after a surgery and lost 20kg in two or three months with ease. I am 30 so I have a pretty average metabolism. You can do it! I'm also beginning weight training, unfortunately I'm left in crippling pain after working out, but I know that I'm looking after my future self with these decisions. As I'm already disabled I'm already at a higher risk, so reducing it in any way as I begin to age is very important.

I take low dose naltrexone to keep my autoimmune disease in check and I take a low dose blood pressure med. I’ve avoided diabetic meds by eating better and exercising. I get weekly massages to help with muscle problems. But the exercising also helps with that. On occasion I will need something to help me short term, for example a muscle relaxer if my spasticity issues act up, or ketamine if my anxiety gets out of control. But if I’m doing preventative things I rarely need those.

For sports I do QiGong in fresh air and play BeatSaber in VR. That combined with breathing exercises and better nutrition, got me out of lifelong depression, panic attacks and distress. I also had to learn that when I sometimes have a bad day, that does not mean I'm relapsing. It's just a bad day. Everything changed when I understood that my mind is made by my brain and my gut.
@@martinepeters9891 I don't know about their breathing exercises, but I've found incredible results with: - Dr Wiel's 2 main breathing exercises he recommends, and (possibly more importantly) breathing exercises from - The Oxygen Advantage guy. These OA ones are like nothing else I've done, and I can see direct improvement with them. Which ones you start with depends on a self applied test score, so I can't recommend specifc exercises. But I do encourage borrowing cheating or stealing the book, and going to the website. The protocol is unlike anything I had seen, and makes an incredible amount of common sense even though some of the science behind it seemed counter intuitive initially.
@@martinepeters9891 @Piano Progress Channel Martine Most importantly I do different forms of compound breathing. That means full breaths in the belly, the chest and the shoulders and out the other way around. Singers use this technique, thats actually how i first learned it. Just meditating while fully breathing can make a huge difference. In the beginning it is easier to breathe fully while standing. I practice Master Jiang Yu Shan's Breath of Mental Power and his version of the Buddhist QiGong Form, which involves compound breathing. Breathing isn't complicated, once one learns how to use the whole body to breathe. It is less about pattern and more about depth. Patters only make it easier to regulate depth.

Thanks you . I see and hear people talking this information is directly sent to the nerve cell in the brain, the signal moves itsell giving instructions to the cells in the hear to be procesed and through the back brain to give meaning to a conclusion. And give orders to the hard to write. The way it works is simple nerve cells are like a group of people who form a community and support each other to provide ideas or results from a conclusion .
Great job interviewing him Tom! This doc is a force for all those that meet him. He is a game changer for our lives, country and world! Sadh Guru has powerful teachings/education about our ancestors and how it relates to us as individuals.. Many Blessings. Gretchen
Find PBS series on Dr Amen's lectures. Dr A and Dr J Fong for fasting are my go to cheer leaders. During the pandemic I listened so many videos on nutrition, and now the research freaks. Dr.A saved me as I cared for a parent , I took away cookies and evening snacking, parent lived to 93 as he declined slowly.
This interview is incredible. I was able to make a lot of associations on how I can improve my ADHD habits, and things that I have already implemented.
Awesome Compilation. I saw the interviews with David Amen before but didn't hit me like now, got the chills. Thank you. Reminded me to get back on track to improvement especially after a recent dead in the family..and makes me want to share it with then
I listen to these videos while driving just about everyday. This may be my favorite interview. It’s certain foods your doctor will have you avoid if you have poor functioning organs such as liver, pancreas, heart or kidneys, but I’ve never heard a mental health professional speak about diet correlating to mental health and when I tell ppl this they agree but they don’t usually do anything different. they think it’s a small issue of diet affecting mental health. As I’ve changed my diet drastically my mental health has been 1000 times better. Also I shut down social media and haven’t watch the news in years because the positive stories don’t get reported as much as the negative. They will cover a mass shooting on every channel for an entire week but just 30 seconds of a story about Someone helping in the community. The news terrifies ppl and it might actually make severely mentally ill ppl do more evil things just to be seen.
Sorry for the late response I’m rarely online. I’ve watch videos of Dr. Alan Goldhamer and Dr. Bobby Price and it changed my life. I follow a plant based diet and avoid processed foods the best I can. But if I do eat something processed, I’m not hard on myself. I eat high water content fruits and veggies, not a lot of bananas. I avoid a lot of dried foods that dehydrate you like raisins or sun dried tomatoes etc. I don’t really eat anything cooked until dinner, just raw fruits and veggies all day. I Stop eating few hours before bed. Daily herbal teas the list goes on. Daily Smoothies with seamoss, Very importantly I water fast and detox periodically especially if I’m looking to adjust my eating to be more clean or disciplined. I water only fast like a week or 2 first to detox and set my palate and it trains my tastebuds to actually crave what I’m trying to eat and changes the microbiome in my gut and some light exercise to increase serotonin levels automatically putting me in a great mood all the time I only really feel in a weird mood like a day after I’ve eaten processed foods.
My grandmother had Alzheimer's. My mother had Alzheimer's and I looked after her for 7 years. It severely altered my life and I suffered a prolonged depression afterwards. Anyone who has looked after someone with Alzheimer's WILL DO JUST ABOUT ANYTHING not to get it. Or... one can live in denial!
@@Sky10811 But you have to DECIDE that before you get there. You can't just do that to another person. My mother DID have a DNR order. No extreme, life-saving measures. But it is never clear cut. At the end, we had to NOT have a feeding tube put in (which would have kept her alive for years and we KNEW she would NOT want that). That means she starved to death. THAT is the reality.

This past year Been hit by a car, 5 month worked at recovery, couldn’t workout or run multiple surgeries, brain aneurysm fixed slowed me down, grateful they found it before it killed me, bike accident, bruised knee. Kept me down, If you can move. Whatever you can do DO IT! Sedentary lifestyles make us look feel and be ugly and unhealthy along with alcohol processed high salt fat foods meat and dairy will surely kill us. Worst is we are miserable. I know my lifestyle saved me and I recovered well because I never stopped doing all I can do. It heals the mind too. The depression is awful if we let it go. We need purpose and connection too. My mom who I took to chemo and radiation went in the hospital the week of my surgery on my right ankle I couldn’t see her.and passed away. Not getting along w family is draining also. We need to be as sharp as we can. It is the only thing we control is what we do with our bodies and what we put in them. I need to remind myself often when moving is exhausting but it is essential. If I can do this anyone can. I wish you courage and determination to treat yourself well. ❤️🙏🏻💜💪🏻
The research is there on why eye movements help process trauma. Based on the poly vagal discovered by Dr. Stephen Porges. The autonomic nervous system is constantly scanning your environment for cues of danger or safety. From my understanding, the tactile stimulation helps create a sense of belonging and com to the nervous system, therefore decreases the threat, therefore allows this traumatic memory to be brought up in a safe space.

Interesting ,I have severe anxiety every day. I do not think I ever had a had a happy childhood. My dad died young and mom never remarried, my mother was pregnant with my younger sister. My mother now has moderate lewy body dementia and we had to put her in a care home. I am stressed even more now, as I feel I let everyone down. I also have NF1and at times my brain feels tingly. I think I am basically a negative person. If something can go wrong it will. I just want to learn how to be happy. I also have trouble reading and understanding. I shut down a lot when I am stressed and do not eat much. Sometimes I go two or three days without eating. Will gave to checkout your site. I do at times take supplements and try to eat good but when it gets overwhelming I eat surgery items. I also get lost easily and can't find my way to where I need to go
I'd like to say that at minute 50 they talk about disconnecting from trauma.Disconnecting leads me to think about complete denial and separation whereas detachment can allow for objective observation and integration of the trauma.

We better start slow and keep going. In the long run, our health will be better. It's a good investment. If you're not convinced, visit friends or family who are sick. Our brain also need our attention. I remember my late grandma even forgetting who her son was. It's not how any of us would like to live in our old age.
I went to an all meat diet for 2 weeks and then added lots of fresh vegetables. My body fat melted away and my mood and energy went up heavily. I was able to go off my anxiety medications and sleep meds and now with exercise I feel the best I have ever felt. I am 45. Is this something others have experienced?
Thank you so much!!! this was great conversation very informative so fascinating lots of knowledge the mind and body love these conversations please keep talks like this on the internet so so helpful .
Thank goodness he promoted WFPB diet. Meat and dairy and processed foods create inflammation so give them up w sugar and fried foods. Love the statement “Not going to be in love w something that hurts me “. My son told me he rather die young than give up his foods. It is killing him. Wish the amen clinic wasn’t so expensive last I looked. There are mixed reviews by participants This all sounds great but I’d Like to see the studies done proving this works.
I just love his demeanor and gentleness. Just recently had the opportunity to listen to him. Looking forward to reading some of his books.
FINALLY someone saying it all publicly - thank you!!!! I have known all of this for 20 years and people chuck you up as crazy. THANK YOU
Fox & NBC lol ... this revelation showed be mandatory in the school(s), yet alone media. I'm with you on this!!!
One of my favorite Docs../ He gave me a new lease life years ago ( PBS) I’m so grateful for this family we have of healthy growth mindset individuals sharing information for impact, improved humans & happiness!!
This is a most fruitful conversation. Much thanks to Dr. Amen and Tom.,
For sports I do QiGong in fresh air and play BeatSaber in VR.
What breathing exercises do you do?
@@martinepeters9891 I don't know about their breathing exercises, but I've found incredible results with:
- Dr Wiel's 2 main breathing exercises he recommends, and (possibly more importantly) breathing exercises from
- The Oxygen Advantage guy.
What a great job! having a Tab for each topic, makes it easier for the listener to choose the topic of her or his preference 😊
Mindfulness and purposeful intention seem like the real keys to be successful in your diet and lifestyle. Goals and motivation are so important and needed and so valuable......
What a great and instructive video!
Dr Amen: I have at least three of your books, love them! Please keep doing what you are doing with SPECT scans. You should get a Nobel prize!
Tom: You are such a spot-on and intelligent interviewer; You really are able to live in the moment and ask the most perfectly crafted questions, to extract the most value from your guests, to the benefit of us humble viewers.
Amen
I had the same experience watching that movie when I was a young girl… I always tell people I have Pollyanna syndrome. I am always happy. I am very even tempered and I’m always grateful! Thanks for bringing that up because I’ve never heard that from anyone else!
Exercise, don't eat processed sugar and processed food, take a few supplements, sleep well and do intermittent fasting. Done

Awesome presentation guy's! This type of content should be on Fox and CNN several hours a day every day to help change peoples lifestyles. POLITICAL GARBAGE all day and night is not helping society.
Obviously if you watch Fox news Yuk!!
Hey, Tom... Can U get Dr. Eric Berg on Ur show? In my opinion he is the most knowledgeable Doctor I have known.. Thru him, I reversed years of Diabetes without medication after years of being on insulin.. My brain has changed and I've lost my desire for sweets and high carbs.. Hoping U can do it.. God Bless u!!
Hes a chiropractor, not even close to a real doctor.
I would love to watch that interview too 🙌🩷
What a good man.
Thank you for all your knowledge and honest doctoring.
You are humbly doing a GOOD JOB for the world.
How did I miss this when it came out?!?!? Thoroughly enjoyed this podcast. Thank you!!! 🧠 🧡

This was an amazing interview! So much to do! I picked up Dr Amen’s books in the library and he’s changing my life!
Gretchen
Thank you thank you thank you for posting this compilation! And Bless you Dr. Amen!! 🙏🏻
This man scares me a lot and I'm thankful for that.
This man is brilliant! He's a life changer.
This interview is incredible. I was able to make a lot of associations on how I can improve my ADHD habits, and things that I have already implemented.
Have you tried PC? It helped my autistic son 90%
I'm case you're not familiar with him, Dr Amen is specifically an ADHD expert, with incredibly useful information on his channel.

Awesome Compilation. I saw the interviews with David Amen before but didn't hit me like now, got the chills. Thank you. Reminded me to get back on track to improvement especially after a recent dead in the family..and makes me want to share it with then
Loved this talk, thanks for having him on!
I did my Brain Health Certification at the Amen’s University- that man is gold ☺️🤩❤️
How?
Wow! What specifically are you eating to positively impact your mental health?
Where do you find the total correct diet. I would love to see this. Is there a book that shows everything about diet
Thank God

Absolutely 😢
eutanasia at the age of 80. that s my opinion is the most ethical way
@@Sky10811 But you have to DECIDE that before you get there.
This was great conversation this is actually my second time watching the video wanted to watch again with a friend we both loved it so much great great information thank you.
That’s the truth. I connected my depression to when I get injured. Need that work out 💪.
I m so ty for your interview with Daniel.
Thank you so much I was taking the gummy! And that's why my anxiety started! I'm so glad I heard you saying that it makes your brain smaller! Thank you I think I found! My elimination problem! And that's one of them thank you so much! And I also have trouble sleeping! I could never sleep! Thank you again you're wonderful. God bless you.!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
MR. BILYEU I ALWAYS LOOK FORWARD TO YOU ‘WOW’ , it sounds so different.
I also get lost easily and can't find my way to where I need to go
Awe I hope you find a way to get better and find happiness. 🩷🙏🏼 You got this! It’s never too late to change.

I don't believe my thoughts because they make me suffer. Facts are freedom.

Awesome insight into the great need for change to achieve healthy living !
Dr. Amen is being humble in talking about his family. Part of his family started Broadway Department stores....
It’s such an individual process.
