    What a fantastic summarization of the good old 80's. 👍 The Video is going back about half a century but by watching it feels like walking right into the future. It's stunning what technology was developed decades ago, you would never presume - great work 👍👍👍

    I was a kid in the 80's there are so many watches in this video I remember. I had a Timex Ironman and a Timex analog/digital but I don't remember the model. I always wanted the Casio with the thermometer but never got one. Great video.

    Awesome video!
    It's also worth mentioning that the seiko G757 was also used in the game Metal Gear Solid V the phantom Pain, and with the popularity of the watch after the release, it saw a re-release under the brand name "Wired" (a seiko subsidiary).

    The golden age of digital watchmaking... wish several of these were in production today. By the way, Casio will release this year the LF-20W as a successor to the old Twin Graph.

    The Casio Amw-320 "Arnie" was briefly shown in this video, featuring the module 358. That module was everywhere for almost 30 years.

      @Illuminating Watches by the time I was wearing them, they had already switched to resin. Maybe Timex will reissue a steel version like they have done with the T80.

    As a child of the 70s and 80s i remember my love of watches starting with the emergance of more affordable digital watches becoming available and kids at school having them ( i remember a brand called Beltime being popular). But because they were still more expensive i had Sekonda mechanical wind up watches. I actually remember purposely overwinding a sekonda in thr hope my parents would get me a digital watch

    It is unbelieve how many watches were launched and how diverse they were during the 80s.
    Some of them are like no others, no compromises, just betting to be really different instead of playing a safe move.
    I remember that the Caso Digipaper was the coolest thing you can wear as a teen back then, and I don't have it.

It’s unlikely I’ll do a review style video as I don’t tend to do those (I hate to think people would buy something based upon me liking it as my opinions are very biased to my own tastes). I love the watch as I’m a mad digital watch lover , but objectively it’s definitely not worth the price tag !

    I never wore digital watches growing up in the 80s. I guess it was just too popular and ubiquitous during that time and I really snobbed hard against it. I much preferred the look of analog displays back then. But it was digital watches that resparked my love for watches a few years back... I guess I got swept up with everyone else in the nostalgia for the 80s! 😅 And nothing symbolises the 80s more than digital watches!

      I was an 84 birthday so digital watches were a big part of my childhood - especially my Timex Ironman Triathlon. If only we’d kept hold of some of them in good condition - we’d be rich!!

    Thanks for informing me that what I have been looking for is called a "pseudo-analog" watch, because of this managed to find a Citizen 9600 which I'm very happy with :) Edit: there is something funny about using a digital display to mimic older technology... this is called a skeuomorph. Hereby I propose to call them skeuomorphic watches from now one, that's all for me thanks

      @@IlluminatingWatches I got into cycling recently! Good excuse to wear vintage sports watches 😅. My watch obsession is pretty recent. I randomly found a citizen independent ana digi temp with the white face 50$... But it was broken so I took it to the shop and they said they cant find the movement.... So I did it myself! Found your Chanel and now iv'e got like 20 restorations done! I started an insta about my restoration... Great chanel!

      Indeed this is a problem with collecting vintage digitals. You are reliant on donor modules and knowing people who are good at fixing things.
