If you ever get a chance to meet him, he is also an amazing person. I was working for a staging company in Washington some years back, was setting up for a NIN concert which i was super stoked to get to see for free since I built the stage. During sound checks, I was helping the lighting guy pull cable which sucks more than any job ever, and shit got tangled and I was in a bad place with 90 pounds of cable draped over me and a series of drum risers snagging me up, I hear.."hold on I got ya" it was Trent fucking Reznor who jumped in and saved the day and my back. He proceeded to tell me how he used to do this kind of thing his self when they started and many other things. That man stood out on the stage 30 minutes before the doors opened during sound check talking with all the contract people there like they were long time crew members. After the show, everyone who stayed, which was everyone of course, got signed Tshirts, cd's, I got a downward spiral vinyl signed, and tons of of shit from the actual show, picks, a broken drum head etc. I got maybe 15 percent of a keyboard(all that was left of it after the show) that trent hand destroyed during the show...ultra long story short, Trent Reznor not only influenced my music, he is the most down to earth, real artist I have ever met, and I have had the opportunity to meet many.
Started listening to his stuff in the early 90s (because a girl I liked was a rivethead), and while the crush lasted all of a month, my love of Trent's music has stayed to this day. Probably one of the most underappreciated musical geniuses (same with Klayton, and Tori Amos) of this time.
Early NIN music was all programmed and performed by Reznor. But eventually it did become a full band performance in albums while Reznor still remained the main song writer and eventually with the collaboration with Atticus. They always perform with a full band now.
this band had more to do with the shaping of my teenage years than any other, pretty hate machine came out at a pivotal time in my journey to being a teenager, came out when I was 12, changed my whole outlook on music and what you can do with it, how you can make people feel with it....Trent Reznor is the reason I play music today
This song is one of my favorites from NIN. It is a very powerful message about being so close to someone that even if the world should turn against you, you'd still stay together and support each other. Of course, you could always extend that beyond just a single person. Another favorite of mine because of its ambience is "The Great Below". Song's haunting, I tell you. I think you'd enjoy more from them. Their albums "Pretty Hate Machine", "The Downward Spiral", and "The Fragile" are all masterpieces in their own ways.
Smokeys smile when the beat kicked in was pure bliss. He's buying in hardcore Trent Reznor "he's the everything". At this time NIN was just Trent now its Trent and Atticus Ross. NIN is arguably the greatest live band on the planet. Check it out today, you won't be disappointed.
Trent Reznor does all the music in studio mostly by himself but with the help of Atticus... but on tour he needs others to play the other instruments so he brings a tour band called Flood(at least thats what I remember)
Flood was the name of his earliest collaborative engineer. Flood was also the bass player from the original line up of Killining Joke before he became a producer and engineer
@@MikeyFX thanks, I've been a huge fan of NIN and Trent in general and had all the Halo's up until 15 or 16 but haven't kept up with the band lineup for over a decade. I'm glad the new generation is rediscovering all this good music from the '90's and early 2000's.
Atticus Ross is the second member of Nine Inch Nails, but only since 2016. Until then the sentence "Nine Inch Nails is Trent Reznor" was written in every release of the band. So Trent Reznor has written all the music until that time. But he has also studio musicans who played some intruments on songs. Some even helped in writing songs with him and in live shows he was always joined by other musicans. But that songs you listened to (I found you watching "The Perfect Drug", "We're in this together" and "Head Like a Hole"), where from a period where Nine Inch Nails was just Trent Reznor.
@@Hollywood6IX let me remind you guys, you’ve reacted only to one Epica’s performance. It was Sancta Terra with Floor Jansen. And if I remember correctly you were really impressed with it. Please consider reacting to more Epica. They incorporate death metal, black metal, a lot of progressive elements into symphonic metal. And their lyrics have so many common themes with Tool’s lyrics. You won’t be disappointed.
Atticus was his producer for a while before becoming the first other official member of the band other than Trent in recent years, but NIN has always had a live band for touring. The band has had several iterations over the years with several rotating members and a few mainstays. Some have occasionally contributed a bit here or there to the music, but mostly they put their touches on the live versions. Notably, the original live guitarist was Richard Patrick who went on to form and be the singer of the band Filter (and he is also the brother of Robert Patrick, the T-1000 from Terminator 2: Judgement Day). One of his former live keyboardists has done most of the Saw soundtracks, as well.
I highly recommend....... everything!!! There are so many amazing songs. I'll just say "Every Day Is Exactly The Same" and "Right Where It Belongs" and "All The Love In The World" and "The Great Destroyer" and "Zero Sum".....
NIN is one of those musical acts that needs its own day in the week like tool... so much to discover. The smartest music there is. Long live trent reznor and thanks for doing this.
Can't go wrong with live NIN, they're great. Saw them 2014 and it was amazing show from start to finish. Their Woodstock live was what eventually got me fall in love with them, but newer lives are so good also.
Trent Reznor (until a few years when his long time engineer Atticus Ross became a full member) was the main creative force of NIN. Robin Finck is his long time guitarist. But all the early albums were written, composed, produced and performed by Trent. There would be session musicians. But it was almost always him. If you ever get to see them live, they are absolutely incredible. I've seen them over 30 times lol! Check out the 'Live and All that Could Have Been' DVD from back in the late 90's. But also anything from the last few tours are also pretty good. His band are all incredible musicians too. For the record, Broken is still my all time favourite release of his/theirs.

Atticus Ross is a newer member and the first time he's had another full member of the band in decades. The vast majority of studio NIN over the years has been Trent Reznor, sometimes with guest musicians on some tracks, but he plays most of the instruments on every album, writes all of the music and lyrics, and does much of the engineering and production himself. Live, there's a full band, but the touring lineup changes fairly frequently.
Those performances live are a must watch, and The Fragile album both sides, A and B, you guys will trip. One of the best albums ever, for real. And yes, Trent Reznor composes everything, he is NIN. Since With Teeth Atticus Russ joined as a more permanent member. He also works with Trent composing all movie soundtracks. They won their second Oscar two days ago! You guys should also react to the Social Network OST, by Trent Reznor and Atticus Russ. They won their first Oscar with that soundtrack.
Great reaction boys, love this song. Something sort of similar, Passive by A Perfect Circle. This was written by Trent Reznor and Maynard when they were working together on a side project called Tapeworm. Unfortunately Tapeworm never got off the ground...
For a different feel of Trent and NIN, check out their performance on Austin City Limits. Their songs take on a different form in that live context. I wish they would release that as an album/dvd.
NIN is all Trent just like Falling in Reverse is all Ronnie. They both write everything themselves, lyrics and all the instruments. There are touring band members that play the instruments. Trent has Atticus in the studio, Ronnie has his producer Tyler in the studio. Ronnie has always been the only member of Falling in Reverse.
Every time that track ends- that piano. It reminds me of how you feel after having an outburst; getting angry over something, and having that moment of clarity. Chills, every time.

You have a huge library of epic with NIN. It would take you years to listen to them all at one song a week. He has had many excellent musicians in studio and live. Danny Loehner has been with him for years. The live show, being really good, has a full band. NIN put on some of the best rock concerts I've seen. The radio stations have let you guys down by not playing all this great music all the time.
For NIN, they DO have a touring band for when they perform live. Robin Finck, Alessandro Cortini, and Ilan Rubin are other longer term members who are on their touring lineup. As far as seeing them live, there are live videos out there that show just how much of an amazing live show they put on. One of the most iconic performances was... well... anything from Woodstock 94, where the whole band was covered in mud, and totally pissed off on stage due to technical difficulties.
Hoping brother Trent & co. win that Oscar this weekend. Love. Check out Somewhat Damaged, The Way Out Is Through, March Of The Pigs, or The Frail. Thanks, y’all.
I think what the internet has taught us is that the depth of the talent pool in the world is an ocean. So the people who really blow minds are the ones that are the smartest about what they do and the most passionate on top of having talent.
I have said it over and over and over again all over RUclips and the internet. The music that kept me alive in my darkest moments: NIN. The Fragile, as said by others before me, is a masterpiece.
And to add to your astonishment of his talent...Trent/Atticus won an Academy Award and Golden Globe for Social Network musical score and for Pixar's Soul in 2021. Primetime Emmy for Watchmen on HBO. Nominated for Gone Girl and Girl w/ Dragon Tattoo and won Grammy for Dragon Tattoo. They did music for the documentaries Before the Flood and Ken Burns The Vietnam War.
Next NIN: "Gave Up" the "live" performance filmed at the Tate house with special guest Marilyn Manson. Someone posted this below and It is a must for you to do this one next.
Manson didn't play on that video, he just pretended. Manson doesn't play any instruments, but they were friends and working together at the time. So at the very least, the rhythm guitar was dubbed.
Atticus Ross started working with Reznor on NIN around 2005 and officially became a member in 2016. Prior to that everything was primarily Reznor. For live performances Reznor has always used additional muscians with the lineup changing over the years.
Love Nine inch Nails. Actually my favorite band since I was younger. My son's name is Trent. I saw yalls reaction to The Perfect Drug. Please react to Fit For An Autopsys cover of The Perfect Drug. Beyond badass and heavy as hell. Much love and respect
Trent pretty much did everything himself all instruments, production, songwriting, programming, of course some outside help e.g. studio personnel, engineers, mastering, producers Atticus Ross began working with Reznor on the latter's side project Tapeworm in 2002. He later worked with Reznor's band Nine Inch Nails, first as a programmer and producer in 2005, and became the only official member of the band outside of Reznor in 2016, the rest of the band Alessandro Cortini (Bass, Keyboards), Robin Fink (Guitars), & Ilan rubin (Drums, Piano, Keyboards) fill out the rest of the line up
Live perfomances from NIN: The Way Out ir Through (NINJA Tour), Last (Live in Holmdel), Terrible Lie (NINJA Tour), Right Where It Belongs (Live from Beside You in Time DVD), Piggy (The Downward Spiral Live, by ThisOneIsOnUs channel), Shit Mirror (Live in Paris Olympia 2018), The Great Destroyer (Live in Europe Aug 2007), Me, I'm Not (Live in Europe Aug 2007). Just a note, The Downward Spiral, The Fragile and Year Zero are conceptual albuns, they tell a story from beginning to end, the first 2 being related to TR's depression and drug addiction in the 90s, I think it would be a nice journey for you each week reacting to a new chapter in those stories starting with The Downward Spiral.
Trent and Maynard worked together on a project called Tapeworm, that sadly never flourished. I think one or two songs from those sessions have appeared, reworked, in some form with A Perfect Circle but I'm not 100% on that. I'm sure a Trash Talker will gladly correct me. Josh Freese has played drums for both NIN and A Perfect Circle You want straight up Industrial Rock Greatness, check out Nine Inch Nails - Wish
Nine Inch Nails = Trent Reznor .. he'll have contributions here and there, some more than other. He's have a traveling band for shows and videos. Atticus Ross didn't come into the picture until later. There's a early NIN video where one of the guitarist is Marilyn Manson, "Gave Up".
The Fragile was so amazing, my sister and I had our own listening party to it when it came out. We saw them on tour for that album with APC, and it was transformational. My fave is still the track they did on that album is Even Deeper but Into the Void and The Great Below are neck and neck to tie
Richard Patrick which is the lead singer of Filter was a member in the early days of NIN Trent has add a rotating who's who of talented musicians whether it was for touring or studio work
'The Fragile' album by NIN is a damn masterpiece, need to dive into all of it.
Yes yes yes

This band was a huge influence in my teenage years. Pretty Hate Machine, Broken, Downward Spiral, and The Fragile; Amazing albums.
Tears to the Eyes💯 He plays Everything
You have a huge library of epic with NIN. It would take you years to listen to them all at one song a week. He has had many excellent musicians in studio and live. Danny Loehner has been with him for years. The live show, being really good, has a full band. NIN put on some of the best rock concerts I've seen. The radio stations have let you guys down by not playing all this great music all the time.
I was glued to The Fragile back then. You felt it. Fire music video too.
Trent Reznor is a genius.
Hoping brother Trent & co. win that Oscar this weekend. Love.
Check out Somewhat Damaged, The Way Out Is Through, March Of The Pigs, or The Frail. Thanks, y’all.
Digital Underground- "The Humpty Dance"
R.i.p
Lol. Loved that video!!
Josh freese plays drums for nine inch nails and a perfect circle live
Not any more. Current tour drummer Ilan Rubin has been with them since around 2013 or 2014.
Next NIN: "Gave Up" the "live" performance filmed at the Tate house with special guest Marilyn Manson. Someone posted this below and It is a must for you to do this one next.
Yes! This!!!
this video is insane.
Manson didn't play on that video, he just pretended. Manson doesn't play any instruments, but they were friends and working together at the time. So at the very least, the rhythm guitar was dubbed.
The "Beside You In Time" live show is AMAZING ❤️❤️
Atticus Ross started working with Reznor on NIN around 2005 and officially became a member in 2016. Prior to that everything was primarily Reznor. For live performances Reznor has always used additional muscians with the lineup changing over the years.
Legendary live performance for NIN, was Woodstock in 99 in the rain and mud!
The fragile pt.1 and pt.2 have to be listened all the way through. EPIC journey.
I was at a club in Houston called numbers when the world debut happened, and that bass in the hook is so much heavier than you can imagine....
Love Nine inch Nails. Actually my favorite band since I was younger. My son's name is Trent. I saw yalls reaction to The Perfect Drug. Please react to Fit For An Autopsys cover of The Perfect Drug. Beyond badass and heavy as hell. Much love and respect
Trent pretty much did everything himself all instruments, production, songwriting, programming, of course some outside help e.g. studio personnel, engineers, mastering, producers
Atticus Ross began working with Reznor on the latter's side project Tapeworm in 2002. He later worked with Reznor's band Nine Inch Nails, first as a programmer and producer in 2005, and became the only official member of the band outside of Reznor in 2016, the rest of the band Alessandro Cortini (Bass, Keyboards), Robin Fink (Guitars), & Ilan rubin (Drums, Piano, Keyboards) fill out the rest of the line up
Also Trent Reznor has won a Grammy, an Emmy, a Golden Globe, 2 Oscars and still missing a Tony to win them all!
AVN ? 😆
Josh Freese has played drums for both NIN and A Perfect Circle
You want straight up Industrial Rock Greatness, check out
Nine Inch Nails - Wish
Oh wow that's awesome, great info
I think it's Passive? Not 100% sure though.
@@sadie608 That does ring a bell now you mention it x
They tour full band. Atticus is a fairly recent addition. The first few albums it was all Trent
Seen NIN twice and they have a rotating line up for their live shows. The first time seeing them it was Josh Freese on drums.
Your boy Devin Townsend is also doing much of his stuff himself 👍🏻
Nine Inch Nails = Trent Reznor .. he'll have contributions here and there, some more than other. He's have a traveling band for shows and videos. Atticus Ross didn't come into the picture until later. There's a early NIN video where one of the guitarist is Marilyn Manson, "Gave Up".
Maaaaaannnn, you got a New Fan for that religion was law before law quote yo! Felt that way since we was 14! Love listening to yall!
Not the biggest NIN fan, but their live performances are some of the best I've seen
The Fragile was so amazing, my sister and I had our own listening party to it when it came out. We saw them on tour for that album with APC, and it was transformational. My fave is still the track they did on that album is Even Deeper but Into the Void and The Great Below are neck and neck to tie
Love this song. Good reaction.
Do more NIN please! My suggestions would be: And All That Could Have Been, The Great Below, Right Where It Belongs (Live from Beside You in Time DVD)
Richard Patrick which is the lead singer of Filter was a member in the early days of NIN
Trent has add a rotating who's who of talented musicians whether it was for touring or studio work
There’s a great vevo video on RUclips of a live nin show from 2013 from the staple center, it’s fire!!! 🔥
