Majora’s Mask is honestly one of my all time favorite Zelda games and it doesn’t get the respect it really deserves. People complain too much of its dark theme which is something I don’t have a problem with at all, yet not everything can be joyful and full of light all the time. What I love about it is that it was a lot more challenging and intense unlike Ocarina of Time, as I really enjoyed playing Link as a kid as he was able to do of incredible things throughout his journey in Termina. Turning into a Zora and a Goron was absolutely the icing on the cake and riding Epona as a kid was even more fun. Yes, I did not like resetting time back to the first day yet I got over it eventually as I went back replaying it on the Gamecube, Nintendo 64 and even on emulator apps. Twilight Princess is another favorite of mine which indeed does have a much more dark and gory theme to like Majora’s Mask, as it really stood out making it sort of a sequel to Ocarina of Time learning the Hero Shade is actually the Hero of Time Link himself, who is the ancestor as the Link who becomes the hero of Twilight. I remember getting it on my 13th birthday for the GameCube as I was excited to play as a Wolf and fight creators from the Twilight Realm, and what I loved the most was the composed music score as it was indeed outstanding. I know not everyone is fond of it which is understanding, yet, I am glad I enjoyed it, both Majora’s Mask and Twilight Princess will always hold a special place in my heart.
I think the opening of Twilight Princess is pretty good, personally. Yes, it takes a little while. But Twilight Princess, more so than most Zelda games, is a very narratively heavy game. Link being a farmhand, living a fairly ordinary life, which slowly but surely gets torn to pieces, is a good premise. And I think it only works because you're given so much time in Ordon village, and with its' various characters. The fact that his ordinary and peaceful life is screwed over, and his friends, worse still, the children of the village are kidnapped while largely under his watch, serves as excellent and personal motivation for Link to be involved with the plot. I do however agree, that upon repeat playthroughs, the intro will become very tedious. But I feel like it was a necessary sacrifice for that first playthrough, and I was immersed into the world of Zelda in a way I really hadn't been before.
I disagree about games costing the same, if I buy a 5 hour game, I think it'd be great if it's only $30 but if I buy Tears of the Kingdom it's easily worth $100 or more. DLC is usually used to fix the pricing issue but it's a little weird every game costs the same when it's new when some games are way more than twice as good with twice as much content.
I honestly disagree with your take on MM3D, as I think it's an okay port but they definitely screw too many things up for it to be the best way to play the game. I think the watered down boss fights, where you just have to target the eyeball like countless other Zelda boss fights ruins what uniqueness the boss fights had. Making the ice arrows only work in specific places is just a plain unfun change. And I don't see how the new changes to the mask forms make them more fun. The Deku Link moves so much slower now, and he loses all his momentum from spinning the second you hit the water. Infact, you can get softlocked if you fall into the water while exiting the Deku Butler's race area, because you can't get enough momentum to get to the lily pad. And they replaced the fun Zora swimming from the original with mediocre human swimming, and the only way to use the classic swimming is to use magic, and since there's basically zero magic in great bay, that makes it pretty much unusable. I do think that MM3D is best to play for newcomers, because it's an easier game, and the saving is better, but for fans of the original game it's definitely not the best way to play. I even think playing the original with savestates on the NSO isn't even that hard either for newcomers.
It’s only a really minor thing to me because I have put about 400 hours into TOTK at this point. But the issue is not for TOTK itself because that’s a steal for that much content especially if it doesn’t have DLC. It’s more so if I got a game like Links Awakening HD for 70 I would be upset
@@mr.awesome6011 right! there were some NES games in 1986 that were $49.99, higher-end games....so there haven't really changed much in price over the last 40 years
@@StrawHatMidas yea, "Breath of the Wild" with 3 DLC's for $69.99 is very reasonable. Even "Tears of the Kingdom" at $69.99 I'm ok with because i'm many hundreds of hours in and the game is incredible.
The ruined movement and bossfights lol, what a sad port especially coming off of OoT 3D which is just an objectively better game than the original version
Ocarina and Majora need to have the 3DS style Remaster on the Switch's Successor. If Nintendo are going hard against fan emulation, they need to provide the compensation for fans who simply want to enjoy these games if they didn't get them back in the day due to varying reasons. Especially the Zelda fans who didn't like the Open World Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom games.
I agree twilight and skyward sword had too much intro narrative. Sometimes we just want to start playing. Not spend 3-4 hours doing pointless minigames for characters you will barely have interaction with. Wind waker art style helped smooth out the frame rate compared to twilight. The original ocarina of time and majoras mask is actually better on the 64. It just feels natural. The 3ds kind of made it little easier. But the 3ds yeah visuals are great. Skyward sword on wii because of motions link was made a right handed because most people are right handed. Breath of the wild was the same. Tears of the kingdom went back to left handed sword.
Great video, I got to play a fair few games from this series, like link to the past on my snes, ocarina for my 64 and 3ds, and skyward sword for my wii (and switch) since i fell in love with it i did enjoy them but sadly was never enticed into playing the newer games, a little sad i never got to play wind waker and majoras mask though, they always seemed like the best
I haven't played breath of the wild or tears of the kingdom yet. While lots of people love these games and I absolutely see why, my only criticism about them is now that these open world zelda games are the norm, unless its a remake or remaster, Nintendo probably wont release another standard style zelda game again. The origianl style games would been seen as too short to a lot of modern gamers
BoTW/ToTK are fun, if you like Minecraft. You have a forgettable soundtrack (well, there are around four good osts). You have a lame story which becomes lamer if you try to play ToTK as a direct sequel to BoTW. And Korok sh*t (I wish I was lying). But, like, you can totally enjoy each game as an open world with a beautiful landscape.
I think I need to replay Majora's Mask on the GameCube because I don't remember it being really glitchy and unplayable. 🤔 I love my collectors edition disk!

@@chooongusbug724 Twilight Princess has a superior story to Ocarina with a better version of Link and Zelda, better combat, better dungeons, and the best character in the entire series which is Midna. Breath of the Wild wasn’t perfect but it was completely necessary especially after the backlash that Skyward Sword got for the 25th anniversary. I beat it on master mode and it was a great experience. I personally prefer the darker aspects of Zelda the most which is why MM and TP are my top 2.

“I don’t know how to read” - I can relate very well to this
$70 for a game you can play for 900+ hours is absolutely reasonable. Games were $39.99 back in the 80's, so to complain about that is silly.
More than that. My brothers were buying NES games for $50. N64 games were around $70 as well due to high costs to produce the cartridges.
