I grew up in foster care, in one of the homes I had like a brother figure that let me play his GameCube and gameboy games… he wouldn’t let me play the N64 but he’d let me watch him play it. he’s the reason I love games as much as I do. I miss him. He died by his own hand in 2014
Damn bro that shit is dark, but respect to him for probably not realizing how much of an impact that little gesture of kindness actually meant for you. Most people will never realize the little things they do that stick with others for eternity.
I have Wario World but I wouldn’t say it’s an amazing game. It’s short but it’s nice. Don’t have to use your brain much for it; but sadly it’s very repetitive quickly. It’s a nice game though but I’d put it in B tier if we spoke of it from S-F tier
I mean he also didn't mention a bunch of amazing games, like Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem, Tales of Symphonia, TimeSplitters 2, Star Wars: Rogue Squadron, Beyond Good & Evil, Skies of Arcadia: Legends, Killer7, Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes, Ikaruga, Soul Calibur II or Viewtiful Joe. (Granted, mostly 3rd party games, but all amazing nonethelss, and just goes to show how many absolute bangers the console had.)
The Gamecube is such a great console. Spent so many hours playing Melee, Double Dash, and especially Mario Strikers and Kirby AirRide. Great console to play with friends
It’s just a shame that GameCube hasn’t been added to Nintendo Switch Online. There are so many great games that new generations might not be able to experience (unless they use Dolphin)
GameCube is easily my favourite Nintendo console. Every game felt like it was trying something new, and in most cases, those games are the best in their franchises, in my opinion. It was so experimental, and they still stand out today because of that. A fair amount of iconic franchises started on the Cube, too. Unfortunately, it was also the system some franchises had their final entries on. I also love how much that system feels like a summer vacation because of the aesthetics of many of the games, and simply because of how refreshing the games are to play. This system and its game just leave you feeling happy and good. It's great to finally see people appreciating this system that I've been praising for over 20 years.
@georgepaulthagoat5311 I never got around to playing the 007 games on GameCube. I should try to check them out. Do they play more like the Medal of Honor and Call of Duty games on the system, or are those 007 games still like GoldenEye's controls and gameplay?
Thanks for the nostalgic video. Melee, Sunshine, FZero, Hit ans Run, Double Dash, Mario Strikers and Resident Evil 4 were all part of my childhood. I also have to mention Pokemon Colosseum, Pokemon XD and Dragonball Budokai 1 & 2.
ever since i subbed to you like two weeks ago ive looked forward to your videos so baddddd man. especially w how bad things are getting. you’re a gift. thank you for making the videos you do. they crack me up and make me smile.
1:01 The cartridge was limited in size but insane in speed. It could read most cartridges in less than a second so no loading screens on N64. It has a read speed of up to 50MB/s and cartridges were less than 64MB(512Mb) with most being 8MB (64Mb) to 32MB (255Mb). By comparison a PS1 could read a disc at 300kB/s, with games around 300-500MB. So up to 25 minutes to read a whole game.
The GameCube has so many good games, it’s hard to choose just one favorite. I’d probably say Animal Crossing though. I remember picking it up at GameStop on a whim, I had been looking over all the used games and its cover just kept catching my eye. It started an addiction 😆
I just barely missed the GameCube, my mom wasn't into video games and by the time my step dad came around he already had an Xbox so we just played on that. I was so jealous of all my older cousins and my friend's older siblings who had a GameCube, to this day I still see it as the "cool" console. The Wii was my first Nintendo home console, but I still wish I had gotten a GameCube.
2004 will forever be my favorite year of the GameCube. Which is my favorite console of all time. Paper Mario TTYD & Pikmin 2 will forever be GOATED. Endless hours and replays on both including Pikmin 1 & Paper Mario 64. Fantastic video as always man
So many fond memories from the GameCube - era. My favourite Nintendo console aside from Switch. Wind Waker, Metroid Prime & Starfox Adventure was top notch gaming experiences. And Resident Evil 4. Truly ground breaking when it came out. Loved the controller too. Nintendo aced it with GC. It deserved better sales.
Bro I literally just got all A rank on SA2B. The only thing I gotta do is get all the emblems from the chao races and karate. Next im tackling sunshine. I’m so glad I bought this GameCube.
8:50 I feel like people don’t like Crazy Taxi is because they don’t know the boost trick by going from drive to reverse back to drive , which gives you an instant boost and makes the game highly more enjoyable.
I love the GameCube a metric ton. So many good games. Muppets Party Cruise, SoulCalibur II, Disney's Extreme Skate Adventure and the Naruto: Clash of Ninja duology are some of my personal favorites. Although, I'm surprised you didn't mention Star Fox: Assault. That game is not only peak, but combined with 64's branching paths could make for a fun modern day game for the Star Fox series
GameCube, along with the Switch and SNES/SFC is one of my favorite Nintendo consoles. I get that you were covering games you were familiar with, but there were a lot of other great gems too such as Eternal Darkness, Star Fox Assault, Viewtiful Joe 1 and 2, Killer7, Tales of Symphonia, Super Monkey Ball 2, Skies of Arcadia Legends, Pac Man World 2, Bloody Roar Primal Fury, Capcom vs SNK 2, Def Jam Vendetta and Fight for NY and Soul Calibur II just to name a few unsung gems in this video.
i grew up with the gamecube and to this day I still play with it, and think its the greatest Nintendo has released. Although, i think the wii was revolutionary, honestly close to as revolutionary as the N64. I respect the switch a lot but i feel like a lot the games are bland (except BOTW) and share the same theme. Regardless Nintendo hasn't missed with their major console!
What about Soul Calibur 2 dude, or DragonBall Z Budokai? 🤔 Every fighting game fan loves those games! And what about the GBA player attachment, that was amazing! The GameCube also came packaged with a Zelda game collection, that had the NES & N64 titles! Also what about Zelda Four Swords Adventures?! They were my absolute favorites, along with Zelda TP and WW. And what about Tales of Symphonia?
Yes. I remember buying the GC with MK:DD bundled one day before release. It also came with the N64 Zelda games. No brainers since I never played those. 150€ that's a steal. Added a second hand 20€ WW. 170€ for hours upon hours of gameplay.
Dude. Star fox adventures SLAPS! Agree it's not what the franchise is known for but I absolutely think of that one and star fox 64 as the most memorable.
The 7-year console lifecycle wasn't a thing in the Gamecube years. Consoles typically had 5 years until they were replaced by the next generation. It was the PS3 and 360 that started the trend of 7-year lifecycles. The Super Nintendo and N64 both had 5 years before they were replaced by their successors. The Wii lasting 6 years was unusually long for Nintendo at the time.
There’s about 4 sequels to chibi robo, and while I agree with you that zip lash and photo finder deviate so heavily from the original it’s hard to consider them a proper sequel, park patrol, and clean sweep in particular are much more faithful with reoccurring characters. Give it a shot !
There was also the Animal Crossing game that I believe started on N64 as Animal Forest. The GameCube also had some great accessories like the WaveBird controller and the GameBoy Player that allowed you to play GB, GBC, & GBA games on your GameCube. I remember playing Kirby Air Ride and Sonic Heroes those were some great games. I did miss the Pokémon battle games on the N64 Pokémon Stadium, but there was a cute Pokémon spin-off game on the GameCube called Pokémon Channel.
I literally had to pause after Star Fox Adventures, the nostalgia was hittin like a truck lmao. I never realized that game was made by Rare, that definitely makes sense looking back. Sooo many hidden gems on the gc, and its good to now see them re-releasing the tried and true bangers. I also remember the X-mas that I got Mario Party 6 on was the year I realized Santa wasnt real, but I didnt care cuz that game is incredible
Looking at the overall library you presented, its a shame the hardware sales didnt do as well as one would expect. Lot of quality stuff released. When I had the Gamecube, I played a lot of Melee and Double Dash with friends. Got far into Windwaker and Thousand Year Door. Sonic Heroes was the only story driven game I beat but was a blast to play.
Um.. am I the only one that remembered Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem being released back in '02? Seriously, it was the first party Nintendo game to be rated M for Mature, and for good reason! For those who are wondering what the game is like. Well, all I can say is that it's like more of a Psychological Horror akin to Lovecraftian Horror with a dash of Survival Horror, but it's the theme of messing with you, the player. Like for an example showing you that your save file was corrupted and deleted to turning down the volume of your TV to sharing a GameCube Death Screen very similar to the blue screen of death on Windows PC's back in the day. It's one game no one should ever sleep on! Sadly, it only sold less than 500,000 copies but was such a massive success in reviews from critics and players alike! Crazy fact about Star Fox: Adventures that the game was released on September 23, 2002, in the US quite literally a day before Microsoft bought Rare on September 24, 2002! It may not be a good "Star Fox" game, but it's an amazing Action Adventure game plus a good game for the final farewell to Nintendo!
We need a remaster of Mario Superstar Baseball on the switch or a new Mario Baseball. I loved that game as a kid, remember staying up til 3am on the weekend.
11:14 slight correction. Sakurai himself confirmed in a fan questionnaire post-release that wavedashing is a 100% intentional mechanic. Same with L-canceling, considering it's a holdover from Smash 64.
As long as I live, I'll NEVER deny seeing a Gamecube retrospective. It was my first home console and I loved it so much. I gave it away to my cousin once the Wii came out, of course due to backwards commutability. But man, I miss seeing that cube. Good times, gooood times. (And yes, the controller is Nintendo's best controller OF ALL TIME).
15:00 In case if you haven't known already. Starfox Adventures originally started out as Dinosaur Planet, it was Rareware's take on a Zelda type game with their own original characters and Miyamoto from Nintendo noticed that one of the Furry protagonists looked like Fox. So that was the reason why StarFox Adventures became the game it was.
No way you can talk about the Gamecube's launch and leave out Rogue Leader - that was by far the Gamecube's killer app until Melee finally came out and had far and away the best graphics on the console until at least Metroid Prime, if not until its sequel Rebel Strike. If you wanted to show off the Gamecube in 2001 and try to argue that it was more powerful than the PS2-Rogue Squadron was the game you showed off. It's like talking about the PS3's launch and never mentioning Resistance. Also, it's well-known how Rare's Dinosaur Planet for the N64 got turned into Star Fox Adventures for the Gamecube. Miyamoto saw the early build and the similarities to the Star Fox characters and offered Rare the chance to use the Star Fox IP instead of going the riskier route of making a new IP. Rare accepted this suggestion and retooled their game to better fit the Star Fox universe.
Good video, but the RE1 slander left a bad taste in my mouth. The Resident Evil remake on GameCube used tank controls and fixed camera angles to heighten tension and immersion. Smooth analog input, a quick-turn feature, and manual aiming offered precision while maintaining vulnerability. Pre-rendered backgrounds provided cinematic framing, maximizing detail and suspense by obscuring threats. These features aren't as dated as one would think as there were other, more modern control schemes at the time. These design choices emphasized fear, strategy, and environmental storytelling, creating a deliberate, immersive experience that defined its survival horror identity.
Ummm Eternal Darkness, Viewtiful Joe, Geist ?. How do you not talk about those exclusives . Especially Eternal Darkness , which took sanity effects to a whole new level ? Good video but what the hell lmao 🤣
gamecube had amazing 1 party games, amazing, 10/10, but the 3 big problems gamecube had compared to ps2 and xbox og were sad. 1. bad support of 3 party games, fkn bad support, 2. only a single player/offline console, xbox and ps2 had so many online games, u could even play need for speed games online on those consoles, while only offline on gamecube. 3. gamecube only had 480p quality. while the other consoles were hD consoles. xbox had many 720p and 1080i games, and i remember first time i got a hd flatscreen tv , i went on settings on grand turismo 4 and turned to 1080 i on my playstation 2
I grew up with the Gamecube games Super Mario Sunshine, and Mario Kart: Double Dash!!. I also played Super Smash Bros. Melee for a long time, until I had issues with the bland clone characters and balancing, wrong portrayals of the fighters, and the seriously difficult challenges, even some trophies. I hope SSBM isn't the only reason to buy a Gamecube like fans claim. It isn't "perfect". I adore Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, especially with the enjoyable partners, fun chapters and the amazing soundtrack. TT-YD should've sold higher than Melee. If only Donkey Kong Racing was released. There is also Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes in 2004. 38:30, I always get tired of the "People only know a character because of Smash" trait. It's like their home games don't mean anything.
Great video! Missing afew gems like Mario Golf, Rogue Squadron, and Star fox Assault (maybe Wario world). Either way, you brought me back to me teen years of me arguing with my friends that the gamecube was better than ps2. Never won an argument tho 😅
Game cube is goated Metriod prime Super smash Fire emblem path of radiance Animal crossing Mario sunshine Fzero gx luigi mansion Pokemon colosseum Pikmin Mario party 4 Kirby air ride Zelda twlight princess /windwaker Mario kart double dash Just naming games I played
My one big giant issue with this video is you forgot to even mention Mario party 7 had 8 player mode. That was a giant feature for the series and such a brilliant and well executed idea and also wouldn’t be down again and honestly makes it my favorite game in the series because of that because me and my friends still get together to play 8 player today
I grew up in foster care, in one of the homes I had like a brother figure that let me play his GameCube and gameboy games… he wouldn’t let me play the N64 but he’d let me watch him play it. he’s the reason I love games as much as I do. I miss him. He died by his own hand in 2014
Probably because of how delicate n64 stick is
Damn bro that shit is dark, but respect to him for probably not realizing how much of an impact that little gesture of kindness actually meant for you. Most people will never realize the little things they do that stick with others for eternity.
Bro you forgot wario world from 2003

Twin snakes and soul caliber were Incredibles examples of how much could be packed into so little @@sove3566
Cheers to all the old times we played on the gamecube 🍻
Gamecube will forever be my favorite console of all time
me too
The Gamecube is such a great console. Spent so many hours playing Melee, Double Dash, and especially Mario Strikers and Kirby AirRide. Great console to play with friends
I still think of that Christmas I got Mario Sunshine. Even now time flies. 😢
It’s just a shame that GameCube hasn’t been added to Nintendo Switch Online. There are so many great games that new generations might not be able to experience (unless they use Dolphin)

Honestly even tho goldeneye is an absolute classic, I really liked the 007 games I played on GameCube better
@georgepaulthagoat5311 I never got around to playing the 007 games on GameCube. I should try to check them out. Do they play more like the Medal of Honor and Call of Duty games on the system, or are those 007 games still like GoldenEye's controls and gameplay?
@ as far as I remember it was similar to goldeneye just better graphics
Thanks for the nostalgic video. Melee, Sunshine, FZero, Hit ans Run, Double Dash, Mario Strikers and Resident Evil 4 were all part of my childhood. I also have to mention Pokemon Colosseum, Pokemon XD and Dragonball Budokai 1 & 2.
Kirby air ride was one of my favorite games of all time.
It's wild how short the lifespan of the gamecube was. 5 years! My childhood wrapped up in just 5 years apparently
Resident Evil 1 remake is a masterpiece
Yeah, this clown doesn’t know what he’s talking about
One game that i had that i dont know if ANYONE else ever played was Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg released in 2003.
your production skills are sick!!! I miss my game cube :,(
ever since i subbed to you like two weeks ago ive looked forward to your videos so baddddd man. especially w how bad things are getting. you’re a gift. thank you for making the videos you do. they crack me up and make me smile.
I usually don't watch videos from smaller channels that often, but this one was really entertaining man. Great job.

Smash bros Melee will forever be THE BEST SMASH OF ALL TIME!
Gamecube is such a great console its still hooked up to my modern TV, still play with it & collect for it today
All good; however, no Dragon Ball Budokai or Star Fox Assault? The only 2 games I believe are missing in this list.
Budokai 1&2 were amazing back then. He also didn't talk about Pokemon Colosseum and XD.
GameCube, along with the Switch and SNES/SFC is one of my favorite Nintendo consoles. Well said definitely the best 3 consoles they ever made in terms of gaming library.

The GameCube is one of the greatest consoles Nintendo ever made
The Wii was just a modded GameCube, so was the WiiU and the Switch, they were all a slightly modded GameCube. It shows how good the GameCube was
Oh yes, it was so good that later Wii releases cut GameCube support entirely, and the Wii U adapter worked only for Smash 4
N64 games were still coming out until 2003
There’s about 4 sequels to chibi robo, and while I agree with you that zip lash and photo finder deviate so heavily from the original it’s hard to consider them a proper sequel, park patrol, and clean sweep in particular are much more faithful with reoccurring characters. Give it a shot !
GOAT console, ahead of its time
Great video my dude 🎉
There was also the Animal Crossing game that I believe started on N64 as Animal Forest. Sooo many hidden gems on the gc, and its good to now see them re-releasing the tried and true bangers.
I also remember the X-mas that I got Mario Party 6 on was the year I realized Santa wasnt real, but I didnt care cuz that game is incredible
I just realized you didn't talk about CustomRobo! Such an underrated gem.
Awesome video! I want to give a shoutout to CUSTOM ROBO for gamecube. I freakin miss that game lol
11:14 slight correction. Sakurai himself confirmed in a fan questionnaire post-release that wavedashing is a 100% intentional mechanic. Same with L-canceling, considering it's a holdover from Smash 64.
Okay, so what about Marth's grab range and chain-grabbing?
Chibi-Robo is one of my favorite GameCube games. Ribbit King and Cubivore are also great hidden gems.
Bro… how could you not mention Viewtiful Joe 1+2…? Like, what??!
I'm 4 weeks late but all I see in this video are awesome games nice video
How did you manage to not mention Rogue Leader, one of the most impressive games on GameCube?
I got scared you weren’t gonna mention Chibi-Robo! Hahaha
This is my whole childhood in 43 minutes
Sonic adventure 2 was my first game ever
Straw hat Midas is like a discount Scott the woz but I ain’t mad I still watch it. Hope you make it bud
Gamecube had alot of good games. Unfortunately i never got to play double dash myself lol
I got the game gang come over
Me patiently waiting for a new 1080° and Wave race
Your cut aways are funny
My biggest dream was to own all the GameCube Mario Parties. I currently have MP4 and MP7. I still need MP5 and MP6...
Bro’s absolutely favorite adjective is absolutely “absolutely”.
As long as I live, I'll NEVER deny seeing a Gamecube retrospective. It was my first home console and I loved it so much. I gave it away to my cousin once the Wii came out, of course due to backwards commutability. But man, I miss seeing that cube. Good times, gooood times. I should’ve put the GameCube on S tier for my console tier list, I honestly didn’t know the console was that awesome.
Twilight Princess is my favorite Game of all Games, not just the best Zelda game!👌🏼
You didn't get crazy taxi? How old are you? It was a game that felt like you were playing a arcade game and it's freaking awesome
wonder what happened to panasonic today...
I traded my Xbox 1 for a GameCube and I loved it..metroid wad awesome, wish they make the metroid game like it again
No way you can talk about the Gamecube's launch and leave out Rogue Leader - that was by far the Gamecube's killer app until Melee finally came out and had far and away the best graphics on the console until at least Metroid Prime, if not until its sequel Rebel Strike. Loved the era, controller was just perfect
I love these Nintendo GameCube games!
I agree. I hope they do put GameCube games on the switch online.
Can't wait not to mention time splitters /tales of symphonia 😂🥺😭
This was my first console and played it nonstop until I got a Xbox 360
Miss this console
24:06 pricecharting has it at a $75 average? Even paying $350 for an unopened, brand new copy would be overpaying by a lot?
And you forgot to talk about animal crossing
Yeah my footage was awful so I talked about it for like one second at the end :/
@@StrawHatMidasAnd you also didn't mention Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes.
@ and what about wario world?
I think out of “only for” Gamecube games, it would have too be RE4, but I probably played more Zelda master quest 😅
I thought sonic adventure 2 battle was known as the best 3d sonic game😅
22:12 missed opportunity for knight rider reference ;D
I still enjoy playing the GameCube myself
Its crazy how, If you wanna play a game thats been released both on the PS2 and GC, you should always go for the GC version, looks better ALWAYS
GameCube gets slept on. Was more powerful than the PS2 and the way it rendered was really gorgeous.
I'm wondering if Shadow the Hedgehog on PS2 crashes less.
You forgot Gears of war , and God of wars bro 🤦🏽♂️ ... naw fr tho great video . I loved Star fox growing up
GameCube also has the single best harvest moon game. Harvest moon a wonderful life. I will die on that hill.
GAMECUBE the most underrated console of all time!
Good games, not good marketing, too strong competition, and for that time a bad product design
Kirby Air Ride is the GOAT!!!
missed chance on ssx tricky
Personally, the GameCube library is unmatched
Look up Dinosaur Planet for N64. It was its own thing til the very last minute. That’s why Star Fox Adventures is the way it is
Sunshine, Windwaker, and Metroid Prime were my 3 absolute favorites games growing up
I grew up with the Gamecube games Super Mario Sunshine, and Mario Kart: Double Dash!!.
LOL!!! I Love your skits man !!
Great video! Missing afew gems like Mario Golf, Rogue Squadron, and Star fox Assault (maybe Wario world). Either way, you brought me back to me teen years of me arguing with my friends that the gamecube was better than ps2. Never won an argument tho 😅
Metroid Prime 2 is my fave
Game cube is goated
Metriod prime
Super smash
Fire emblem path of radiance
Animal crossing

Mario party 4

Just naming games I played
When Nintendo games had even more personality. Dunno how it’s been 21 years and production has gotten even lower
Absolutely
My one big giant issue with this video is you forgot to even mention Mario party 7 had 8 player mode. That was a giant feature for the series and such a brilliant and well executed idea and also wouldn’t be down again and honestly makes it my favorite game in the series because of that because me and my friends still get together to play 8 player today
How can someone talk about the GameCube and not mention the Rogue Squadron games?
when i was a child i hated crazy taxi with a passion
