Happy bday Wii. I was in physical therapy after a life changing accident that disabled me. And while in recovery part of my therapy was to play the Wii & i feel in love. Flash forword to today and i have a working Wii a library of titles and a stock pile of AA batteries. Its my fav system!!
Wii is one of my favorite Nintendo console next to SNES & Switch. It has solid library of games, the motion controls works well for most games, WiFi was an thing, the menus were special, Virtual Conoles, backward capabilities & was an friendly console tomcat everyone can play. I have alot of nostalgia with this game and it's still holds up pretty well. Also Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 are the greatest games I've ever played.
I don't think most folks would agree with this comment, but I do. Maybe if the Wii had debuted with WiiMotion Plus I'd feel differently, but it was too little too late & not enough games ended up utilizing it.
@@g2a5b0e Yea, I agree with you. I am still skeptical of creating a system that is completely centered around the idea of motion controls. The Wii is a great system yes, but its a great system because the games for the system were fantastic. ANd honestly, I think out side of Wii Sports and Wii Sports resort, I don't quite believe that motion controls added to the experience of the very best games.
@ oh I don’t mind motion controls. I just think ultimately all of my favorite Wii games, apart from Metroid, I prefer playing with a normal controller setup.
The wii was at it’s best when it implemented the controllers into the experience. It’s much easier to blame the console itself then the inability of the developers to be creative. A prime example is donkey Kong country returns. I’m sure Nintendo told them that the game was required to have motion controls, but there were better ways.
The Wii is extremely iconic. New super mario bros wii was the first video game i ever played so I’ll always enjoy it. Games like mario Kart Wii and Twilight princess were also great. A bunch of other ones too
My first game I played was Mario bros Wii also it wasn’t just my first game on the Wii but it was my first game I played in my life but my favorite game on the Wii was Mario galaxy 2.
Twilight Princess did more than switching which hand Link's sword was held in... in the Wii version they flipped the whole map and every model. Left became Right and vice versa.
The Wii had some solid bangers, in addition to all the ones mentioned here, I'd also add Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 2 and 3, Zack & Wiki, Bully: Scholarship Edition, Okami, MadWorld, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, No More Heroes 2, Tatsunoko vs Capcom, Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn, The Last Story, De Blob 1 and 2, Tenchu: Shadow Assassins, and A Boy and His Blob as some other games I really enjoyed on the console.
I remember knocking at my friends house when I was younger asking him to come out and he said ‘I can’t I’m playing Lego Harry Potter on the Wii with my mum’ still not over it ten years later
Straw Hats Midus Great Channel amd Content Your information and story telling about Nintendo series is great also i enjoy the Humor you put in each videos
The wii was a staple of my childhood. Ill never forget my excitment for games coming out like nsmb wii and especially Dkc Returns. Also loved mario kart and the galaxy games so much.
Man I feel like I got 2 broken bugged disk games from the Wii like “The Contuct” (I couldn’t get pass the first level because it crashed) and “Smash Brawl” (I had to by another brawl game down the line… because the subspace adventure didn’t work the first part but the fighting co-op worked) so the Wii wasn’t my favorite console to by game disk but Donkey Kong Country returns was a great game and the Kirby games were great I loved them and they worked too.
To me the only problem with the Wii era is the lack of options it had when it came to controls. I know the Wii remote was the biggest gimmick for the console but you can tell that mommy Miomoto and daddy Iwata -God rest his soul- had a fetish with motion controls. Like yea the Wii series games handled them well and the Galaxy games did them well like yea cool, but not almost every single game needed to exclusively have motion controls. Like there’s Sonic and the secret rings, there’s DK country returns a game I feel would have been SO PERFECT with normal controls. What happened? They just didn’t make it an option like they thought it wasn’t necessary.
Man, pretty bummed you didn't mention monster hunter tri. It was north America's first major introduction to the series and a staple in the hand held triple A titles after that. I'd say sure it wasn't a Nintendo IP but you mentioned resident evil 4 and sonic and Mario Olympics like 3 times.
The wii was a wonderful console and I got to play with my parents that Christmas was a very surprising one. You mentioned the wii zapper and its more or less useless nature but I found that with a couple of controller layout tweaks that It was the definitive way to play Metroid prime 3... I swear, give it a try.
You also kind of forgot about Endless Ocean! You should've done a review on Excite Truck, another of my favorites. And as third party games go, you have the poorly received but decent Castlevania Judgement and Soul Calibur Legends.
Wii one of my fav. but this may be odd but I love Wii U more. even Wii U and maybe Wii better then switch. but love gamecube and n64. all nintneod sytem had been good. but I start on saga 1st 3 year so I start on n64. rip saga console years.
even though i didn’t get a wii until deep into the end of its lifetime… damn. what an easier life we had… pure nostalgia 🙂↕️✨
I loved the Wii generation, great first party games
And third party games.

My problem with the Wii is that all of their fantastic games mostly succeeded in spite of motion controls, and not necessarily because of it.

I honestly don’t mind the motion controls. They are actually simple and intuitive, without feeling too complex.(looking at you Xbox Kinect)

Twilight Princess did more than switching which hand Link's sword was held in... in the Wii version they flipped the whole map and every model. Left became Right and vice versa.

I've had the Metroid Prime Trilogy since it came out in 09. Its my fave collection ever

38:30 got the collectors edition of this game last year one of the best £45 I've ever spent

the first home console i ever bought was the wii u so i have unreasonable amounts of nostalgia for it
Be honest, this is the 20th Wii Retrospective you have watched at this point 🤣
mario super sluggers is the best game ever

Did you include Wii music?
52:02 dragon age?
do the wii u!
I've played every Wario Ware since the GBA, and the best one is still the 3DS version! Although Smooth Moves definitely comes in 2nd

Thank you for this such a great underrated console

Can you play Metroid Prime Trilogy with a Wii Zapper?
You also kind of forgot about Endless Ocean! You should've done a review on Excite Truck, another of my favorites. And as third party games go, you have the poorly received but decent Castlevania Judgement and Soul Calibur Legends.
Damn no Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn mention :(
:( we off the sacred egg must hold strong for a remake.
You should have brought up DBZ BT 3, which was much better than its version for PS2
As a huge DBZ fan, it was one of my favorite Wii games ever! 🥰🥰
We decently need a new wario land AND wario world game 🎉
awesome video but please stop doing the irl cut-ins. awesome video regardless

NES, SNES, GameCube, Wii and Switch are the best Nintendo home consoles!!!!!!!!!!!!
So all of them apart from two?
The N64 & Wii U do not approve of this comment.
