I'm 36, people my age grew up with super mario kart and most of all, mariokart 64. We then stopped playing as we grew, didn't touch or want to have the garbage since. Now as people pushing 40, we play MK64 again for nostalgia when we have our old mates over for pizza absolutely beers. Oh, and 8 deluxe obviously, many of us got back into it with the switch.
Double Dash!!, DS, and Wii are my top 3 games in this series. Overall, they just had the best characters, tracks, and music, in my opinion. That said, this is one of the few franchises where there isn't a single bad game in it, and all of them still kick ass today. They're all still worth playing today. I'm not counting GP Arcade, Tour, or Home Circuit, cause those aren't really true Mario Kart games, and are weird side games haha.
It's a shame how much Nintendo refuses to acknowledge the arcade games, as they did have some odd third-party characters, like Pac-Man and that Tomogatchi mascot, and none of its courses have come back, not even in the Booster Course Pass. Still, thank you for covering the rest of the games! Maybe someday, I'll be able to replay Double Dash and actually enjoy it.
I remember going from Mario Kart DS to Mario Kart 7 and the change in graphics and all the new features were revolutionary to me, but the 3D mode always hurt my eyes, and the first person mode was never my thing cause i remember it forcing motion controls😅

After DS and Wii, Mario Kart became so ridiculously popular that the main series Mario games are less popular, and those games sell something like 20 million copies for every single game. The Switch 2 will definitely get both 3D Mario and Mario Kart in the first year

@@hoglacy I don't think that will happen, if it was an Odyssey 2 they would have just made it on the original Switch and something like 3 or 4 after the original Mario Odyssey came out. An open world game using the same formula as Bowser's Fury that is just 10 times bigger has a much greater chance of being the next game in the series. that's what every leaker in existence says, that's just the logical next step for the series, and it will show the power of the Switch 2 just like breath of the wild did with the original Switch

Mario Kart 64, Double Dash and DS will always have a special place to me. So many endless nights playing these with my brother for years, even though Mario Kart Wii is my favorite. Amazing video as always man
My brother and I would practice Rainbow Road on Wii over and over and go online and choose Rainbow Road every time. And since we got two votes, we played our choice quite often. We got so good at that course that we would even do pretty well, if not beat, the rampant cheaters that would spam blue shells or bullet bills
For him to skip over the whopping 16 player lan play of double dash and the mario Kart Arcade is kinda crazy. Double Dash's lan play with 16 player was something double dash was built by too with the console hardware though it does mean that you need 4 gamecubes with the lan adapter, The lan itself, 4 copies of the game, 16 controllers, 4 TVs and 16 people. Then the arcade version is also pretty neat to try when you see one running especially since namco helped developed it and with its cross over character with Pac-man. Also wanted to mentions there are 2 version of the arcade mario kart Gp but one is just more updated than the other one.
I remember playing mario kart DS with friends on the school bus every day. we always played balloon battle and i have some fun memorys from that. i also played a lot of online mario kart 7 as a kid. and i also played some MKWii but not as much as the other 2. now you have mk8D but its totally not my favo mario kart. i went back and bought the older mario karts like Double Dash MK64 and Super Circuit and i Really like those games. Im planning on buyign SMK aswell in the future

MK Wii and MK7 didnt do it for me. It had this insane beauty filter on the whole game, very little contrast. Seen The Hobbit2? That kindof Insane beauty filter that everything looks washed out. Anyone else sees this?

@@StrawHatMidas I don't know how willing you are to use stuff like this in videos, but did you know that the Nintendont application on Wii/Wii U can play the first few Mario Kart arcade games? It's designes to play GameCube games but the arcade machine hardware is similar enough.
I never liked wii I grew up on the original and double dash wii looks horrible has a hazy blurry look the battle mode is forced to do teams with cpu so doesn't matter what you do it is still only 1 person of of six bikes were op and unbalanced it's fucky kong and flame runner only if u want to win
Grew up with the OG, i remember the build up to Mario kart 64, and the immense disappointment when i first played and saw that they replaced my main character Koopa with ugly ass Wario (still to this day haven't played a wario game) after that i become a DK main. This vid is great nostalgia for someone who's been with the series since day 1. 🥲

I really wish I put more time in MK Wii and 7. Never owned them but I was very deep in the Xbox 360, GTA and still playing the DS for Pokemon.
