Oracle of Ages and Seasons do not get enough love. They are SO FUN, man. Easy to pick, easy to play, great music, great ambience and linking both games makes it essentially an enormous adventure with 16 dungeons. They will always be my favorite handheld Zeldas, period.
Agreed. Seasons was the first game I bought with my first shop job at age 16 in 2001. I played it so much. I replayed both last year and are still incredible
Phantom hour glass was my first Zelda game and I still to this day hold it in high regards and is honestly one of my favorite DS games to this day. I definitely see why it’s not everyone’s cup of tea but the amount of exploration on such a small handheld blew my mind as a child and I’ll never forget the feeling of accomplishment I’d get after finally solving tricky puzzles. Such a nostalgic game for me
Was about to say played it as a kid and then I later picked it up as a 19 year old, and was still absorbed with the world of phantom hourglass just like I was a kid again. Haven't played many zelda games but phantom hourglass and even spirit tracks are underrated gems
You have it backwards. Pokemon IS the Cash grab. Two different Zelda adventures is a wholeeee lot different than “hey, this copy has Growlithe, but this copy doesnt!”
I'd go further and say Pokemon could have been released as just one game that randomly selected which Pokemon you could find at the start of the playthrough. And the oracle games were planned as a trilogy from pretty early on. They scaled back in scope when they found out how hard it would have been to link 3 games together the way they wanted (and I don't blame them, it's quite hard to do).
I always liked 2D Zelda games more than 3D. Maybe it's because there much faster paste, the worlds aren't to big to explore that felt like an slog and simple to get into. The only 3D Zelda game I enjoyed is Majora's Mask and it's my top 3 favorite Zelda game, next to Link Between Worlds & Link to the Past.
I agree. The 3D ones are a ton of fun too but take so long to get going and best overall. Whereas I can replay a 2d one at a leisurely pace over a weekend.
Liked the video! Quick correction, Four Swords for the GBA is an entirely separate game from Four Sworf Adventures for Gamecube. Adventures is a sequal to the GBA version.
Bruh, do you have a massive physical collection or are you playing on emulator? Cause your videos are comprehensive as heck for someone with low subscribers lol Not that either would make a difference for me, I’m just curious.
A Link to the Past is still by far the better Zelda game in my opinion. I like Zelda 2 despite the hate. Pretty much the reason why it's a RPG style type game was due to how popular the Dragon Quest / Final Fantasy series were at the type and game companies had to match that experience. This and Castlevania 2 are the only games went from being a adventure style to RPG with both games are the 2nd in the series. The Game does get more challenging as you progress and just to think back in the day that you would spend hours and hours trying to level up. I seen fan made projects where someone recreated Zelda 2 in a 1st person view style with only the first area is done. Heck there's Fans are recreating both Ocarina of Time and A Link to the Past using Unreal Engine just for the Love of the series.
@@Clyde-S-Wilcoxwhile I do agree with Alttp being absolutely amazing, I’d have to put Super Metroid as my favorite SNES title. Alttp being not too far behind.
Nice to see someone else doesn’t hate Zelda 2. I enjoy the game for the most part as well, but it’s still one of my least favorite Zelda games because it’s ridiculously difficult especially the first time you enter Death Mountain, and Death Valley. I think I actually prefer more modern top down Zelda’s than alttp, but it’s still a stellar game.
There is an fan made game of Zelda 2 titled, the Enhanced Version, which is an remake of Zelda 2 with many QOL improvements and added content. It is really good.
Praising Pokémon’s split model and condemning the Oracle games is such a terrible take. From a technical standpoint, there wouldn’t be enough memory on a gbc cart for both games. From an “experience” standpoint, each game can be compared to Links Awakening, and both games feature a “dark world” mechanic that essentially doubles the explorable region. The linked mechanics are optional, and just turn two individual stories into a larger grand narrative. In some ways it’s comparable to OoT and MM (narratively, N64 didn’t have the link mechanics). It’s about as bad of a take as saying “The Legend of Zelda is a cryptic game that drops you in and you have to figure everything out yourself”. It’s only true if you’ve never thought to open the manual the game comes with. Outside of that specific nitpick, this is a great retrospective on what I think are the best Zelda games from a gameplay perspective
Legend of zelda 2, adventure of link was originally not zelda, but another fantasy game. But higher ups told them to make it a sequal to zelda to increase its sales. This is why shigeru miyamoto dislikes the title. It's not zelda to him. It's not what he wanted for the series.
PH and ST hurt me to play physically, the stylus cut open the skin between my thumb and finger, and as such I just cannot return to them unless they implement normal controls. No other game hurt me like this. ALBW is perfect however.
Thank you I love Zelda 2 it's my favorite at the moment and it was the one to make me a Zelda fan. The only part of Zelda 2 that I hate is the island Palace/Palace 3. The floating dog faces just make me angry
Great video overall, but very confused on the Oracle dual release opinion. Don’t see how Pokémon gets a pass since they are a few minor differences between the two, but Zelda creating two completely different and full games is a cash grab.
@@StrawHatMidas the zelda asleep in Zelda II is actually a different zelda from og “the legend of zelda”. Canonically in Zelda II there are 2 Zeldas alive at the same time: the zelda link already saved and the sleeping zelda link is about to save. Another thing I saw you said was that zelda had the triforce of wisdom in link to the past, which is false. In that game the triforce never broke. Even though Zelda still embodies the virtue of wisdom, the concept of the triforce separating to the three virtues was only added in 1998 with ocarina of time, therefore you cannot conclude that she has it in link to the past. I’ll check if there’s more errors I recall

Great video but you are repeating yourself a lot! Try and edit your scripts a bit more. I am all about a game that lets you take it in any order that you want to, it's really refreshing in Zelda."

They are fun. I’ve been playing seasons randomized Great music for sure Something about 8 bit music
Man, a link to the past still looks and plays amazingly after so many years.
A Link to the Past wasn't the first Zelda game I completed, but it was the first Zelda game I played. Still fantastic.

They should come up with a game called Hyrule crossing a mix between animal crossing and the characters and settings of The legend of Zelda
To me, a link to the past and minish cap are 2d masterpieces. ♥️
Great job! Glad you had a good piece about Zelda 2 love the game greatly :)
My only 2D Zelda games I have played are the original LoZ, Zelda 2, and Spirit tracks. My fav was probably spirit tracks but it’s close.

Echoes isn’t bad…..but it’s not something I’d put above A Link to the past, Links Awakening, TLoZ, or Minish Cap.

It's also my favorite, I've played them all and enjoy all the Zelda games but Tears of the Kingdom was something else
