I got my 03 honda shadow Jan of 2022, I got it from a guy that had it sitting for 6 years, Its my first motorcycle I took the MSF Course and I love tinkering with it, Its simple to work on and I enjoy every moment on my bike.
@@meandmyshadow7839 it's a ACE and I loved the class it definitely taught me things about a motorcycle I never knew. My wife wants a bike now and I told her taking the class will definitely help you understand the safety and understanding of a motorcycle
That's so awesome. I felt the same way after completing the class. Even after years of riding it helped me a ton in understanding more about turns, lane position, and just overall safety. The ACE is freaking awesome btw!!!!
Got my 2002 750 ACE in June...msf course in June... that bike is all I need.. and it's pretty tough to tell the difference between the model years at a glance
I lived almost 14 years in MA USA, 2005 at 2018 when I went deported to my country with only the clothes of the body. 14years of my life dumped to the trash at this moment, I lost all I had ,some good money on the DCU bank, many different types os eletronics and instruments, many iphones, ipds, expensive game computer. too many tools, but my 92 caddilac civil STS and 2003 honda shadow ACE broken my heart and my soul to many pieces. 4 years later I don´t know how I´m survive living . But you man living in that country having all those roads to cross with this Shadow, just have a fun and God Bless you for all that . chears.
Man thanks so much for watching and commenting. Sometimes we forget how damn lucky we are here and your comment really drives that home. Thanks for taking the time to shar6this. I really hope and pray that things get better for you and that you continue to watch this channel. Thanks again so much for sharing this.
Couldn't agree more with your assessment of the ACE 750. Three years ago, I grabbed a 2000 model as my "return to riding" bike after 20 years away raising kids. It's been an absolute joy to own, and fun to fix up and make my own, without worrying one second about reliability. All day comfort and enough power for a single rider, while being easy to handle and cheap to run.
You may be a bit cramped on the seating position, but the weight is not an issue. It has a capacity of at least 500 lbs. I would definitely go sit on one first, though. The seating should be fine, but your legs.. on the mid controls may be a different story.
@meandmyshadow7839 Appreciate the response. I am a long leg proportionate tall person (I sit next to my fiance who is 4' 11.5", and her head is at my nose).
Liked & Subscribed, Thank you for taking me on a ride in your home town, ride a 2002 Shadow Spirit 750, just enthusiastic about my Metric as you are, commute daily to work, it’s my free adrenaline before & after my shift, speed safe, Aloha from Hawaii, Kenneth
I'm telling you there's nothing better than a ride after a tough day at work...or heck even a good day at work lol. In my opinion there's no better natural high riding the shadow. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. Plus I am super jealous of your riding weather not to mention the beauty of your island views.
2007 Spirit, had for 11 years. 17500 miles now. 12000 by me, New battery and tires and oil changes and one set of plugs. STARTS EASY EVERY TIME AND SO EASY TO RIDE
I'm considering a '07 750 spirit now. It has 11k on odometer aftermarket Vance&Hines and custom seat. Man wants $3300 for it....I'm almost 60 years old and haven't rode in 40years.
It sounds like the bike is a good deal. The 750 is very forgiving and a great bike to re start on. Low center of gravity plus most folks can flat foot it. Let me know how it goes my friend. Thanks for watching and commenting I really appreciate it. P.S. If you have any questions please feel free to ask!!!
just happened upon this video, I have the opportunity to purchase a '07 shadow. and watching the video I was like "Hey this area looks familiar", then I thought " I know that street, and that church, and the McDonalds. Holy crap I know that town" I sure do miss that area. Godspeed friend :D
Love your video,, I bought a new ( 15 miles on it) '09 750c2 spirit w/ 50,145 miles on it now. No , none, absolutely no problems at all, very very reliable, you went by my neighborhood in watagua, Texas,Oved to Richland hills. Be safe out there !
you had me going for a minute LOL. I just sold my Harley Low Rider, had a Road king before that, both were nice bikes, but you are right, they were nice bikes to sit and look at in the garage LOL...its not so much the engine and trans in them that are unreliable, its the electrical. I got real tired of spending every other weekend chasing down shorts, and going through every fuse to find the culprit....so I went back to old faithful Honda
Well, I though you were going to start out knocking the Shadow, and regret buying it. However, all you said is a prefect description of the Shadow line of motorcycles. I have owned three, and still ride one at age 76. In my opinion, they are the best bikes for the money spent. At my age, being able to easily move it around is a real benefit..
I agree. I'm 56 and really appreciate the ride. This motorcycle is not only for us more mature riders however it's lightweight enough and easy maneuverability are definitely a huge plus. The shadow is a very special bike and holds a special place in my heart. Thanks so much for taking the time to watch and comment
@@meandmyshadow7839 No worries good video I’ll check some more out once I put these kids to bed. And I’ve only had it for 2 weeks so haven’t done much neighborhood riding yet. I like riding up and down 121. The stop and go of neighborhood riding still takes work to get used to
I just bought an 08 from some friends that just needed it gone. $100. Needed a battery and a good flushing. It has been sitting for 4 years. 6500 miles. That is not a typo...One hundred dollars 😊 My husband is a mechanic and has wanted me to ride with him. A 62, I learning on a Shadow 750. I should add ,my husband rides a Shovelhead. He's been a Harley and Triumph man for life. He is very proud of my deal.
Lol! Love the backhanded tone! This video earned my like and subscription! 57 years young getting back in the saddle and looking for the right bike to do it. Signed up for moto safety training next week. I road a shadow back in the 80's. Will probably ride one again!😎
I'm a 35 year old woman who is wanting desperately to start riding. I'm going for my msf course in May. I'm 5f8i and 160lbs and think the shadow aero is the perfect starter bike.
That's awesome and good luck on the MSF!!! I know you're gonna do great. Yes the Honda Shadow is a great starter bike. I would suggest going to a dealer and asking to sit on one just to get a feel for the bike. This is an excellent comment and you have made.my day 😀 Let me know if you have any questions or concerns!!! Thanks for watching and commenting
@meandmyshadow7839 when it comes to mileage on a bike, how high is too high? I know it really depends on how well it was maintained but out of curiosity.
Depends on what your getting as well. A well maintained shadow or really almost any honda can last.well over 100k. As a rule of thumb if the bike is say an 09 and it has 120k that might be to much. I always try and get the lowest miles possible and if it's a private owner I will have a mechanic look at it or bring someone along that I trust who can evaluate the bike before I buy .
Also keep in mind if it has let's say 60k on it but everything checks out that bike (thinking honda shadow here) has at least another 100k miles left on it if properly maintained. Hope that helps. Also anyone else on here please feel free to chime in.
Milage is certainly an issue, but as long as the bike is well maintained, it's not a major issue with Japanese motorcycles...still, it's pretty easy to find these bikes at unbelievably low milage at no more than $3K-$4,500...just takes a little hunting...I got mine for $3,500 with only 5,941miles on it...anything under 5-6K miles will usually be in pristine condition with no issues of any kind...but 10-20K miles is no problem for these bikes either...mine is currently pushing 40K miles & still runs like brand new, & still looks very nice, with very few noticeable marks on it...& I use the lowest octane at the pump...I wouldn't dare put that in my Road King, unless I want to wind up stranded, but these are made & tuned to run on that...these bikes are built to last, so having a few miles on them doesn't really effect them as much, but I'd certainly still go for the lowest mileage I could find in my price range, but these bikes are pretty inexpensive & easily affordable most of the time, even at extremely low mileage...
I am waiting on my 750 aero as we speak. I am getting a trike conversion kit with it. I do not have to be convinced about the qualities of the 750 shadow. I have done a lot of research regarding this bike and I am convinced that it is the best fit for me. I am an experienced older rider who has owned a Goldwing and a KZ 1000. The Goldwing was super comfortable and the KZ was super fast. I am beyond those days and the Shadow will fit me just right.
I love to hear from experienced riders that do their own research. I guess I'm really not trying to convince folks as much as I just want to share with everyone my total joy when I ride my shadow. Thank you for your comment and watching. It is greatly appreciated.
Really loved your video. I'm a new rider and was looking to get a new Honda Rebel 500 but couldn't find one since it's the most popular bike for new riders right now. So then, a good friend of mine let me sit on their Honda Shadow and I just ended up falling in love with how much more "cruiser" it is. Plus I always imagined being on the highway more than in corners, so I thought the added weight would help with stability.
Thanks for watching and welcome to the Shadow experience. It kind of sucks you in. The weight of the shadow does lend stability to the ride not to mention the wider tires helps. Thanks for watching and commenting. Keep me posted on what you purchase.
Its got an overcomplex carburetor all the way to 2005. Big weakness. Harley has a single simple carb and if you have a problem you can just buy a generic carb for $40 and swap it out, but generic carbs will not work on the Shadow.. Most bike carbs are easy to rebuild, the Shadow carb is a nightmare. I have a 2005, its nice but the forward controls are too short even for me at just a 30in inseam so my knees are too high. I ride to look good, and having my legs bent ruins my ascetic. I have the opposite problem on my 2007 Harly FXWG in that I am stretching to reach the pedals.
Just bought a 2004 Honda Shadow Aero with 2900 miles, needs a little TLC but really excited about it. First bike, taking the motorcycle riding course next weekend. Sitting in my garage and I can't believe it! Im really doing this after so many years of putting it in the back burner. After much research i settled into rhe shadow phantom for the looks, but it just wasn't in the current budget and most all remotely close to me where about 2-3 hours away so I'd have to rent a trailer. Then this aero comes up for sale locally below my budget, owner fell ill (sad) and couldn't ride no more. He just wanted some one to enjoy it, and here I was by chance. If all goes well by the end of July early August ill be riding, not going to try until i get the proper training. Thank you for your video.
Congratulations, and the Aero is an amazing bike!!! I'm glad to hear that you're going to take the safety class and learn the proper way to ride and be safe. Welcome to the club, my friend. Keep me posted and enjoy the ride!!!!
I have an 03 Shadow Spirit I got in Dec 2019 w 17k miles and I just hit 24k two weeks ago and I absolutely love it, anyway great video and stay safe out there! People can’t drive lol 😂
I have an 07 Shadow. The clutch was slipping on mine. I suspect the last owner used the wrong oil. I put a Barnett clutch kit in it and it works fine now.
Yep, the Barnett kit is an excellent fix. You shouldn't have any more issues. Hope you are loving the Shadow as much as the rest of us are. They're a great machine. Thanks for the excellent comment.
Great video. I am on the wrong side of 50 and Have owned a lot of bikes over the years but have been out of it for a decade, and have just bought a low mile Shadow 750 here in Australia. Looking forward to taking to the road! This video makes me realise I made the right choice. Thanks for sharing. 👌👍
I don't think that bike will let you down . I'm really glad to hear that you're getting back to it Keep me posted on how the riding goes. That's really cool
Thats a great way of looking at it. Everyone rides their own ride. I'm not into racing or a ton of speed either. I really appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment.
As someone who's never ridden a motorcycle(I have ridden scooters but not motorcycles) before but would soon like to get into it, this was such a cool chill video. You talked about the pros and cons and all and I really liked it. Great content !
Thanks for watching the video, and welcome to the channel. I honestly believe that motorcycle riding is truly life changing. If you do get into it, you will enjoy it. Riding is my therapy. It really helps me to de stress and relax. If you have any questions at all, don't hesitate to ask!!!!
@@meandmyshadow7839 riding helps me relax and get rid of that stress too especially when I'm driving at slower speeds sometimes so that I can just take my time to go from one place to another while observing the things around me. This is one of the reason I'd like to buy a not-so-powerful bike coz I enjoy slow steady cruising.
I totally agree on the 750 shadow. It's very forgiving. It was my first street bike. At that time I was 19-20yrs old. Then I decided I needed to pop a wheelie. I reved it up and with some good rpm, and clutch play, i popped a wheelie...scared the hell outta me. Didn't know what to do... so I let off the throttle. It slammed down. The bike died....Then I just hit the button to crank it, and headed home lol. It's literally a bullet proof bike lol.
Lol, that would've scared the crude out of me. They are tough and so well built. Even folks like me ( I can only speak for myself) can survive some of the stupidity I have pulled. It's like honda said "okay let's make one that will forgive Tim." He may be an idiot but doesn't deserve to die, lol
Great video. Just purchased a 2001 750 ACE here in 🇬🇧 . Beautiful bike. Been with my wife for 14 years but she's never been confident enough to get on a street or tourer bike. I saw the 750 ACE for sale and her face lit up like a Christmas tree. Just got to pick up a helmet and some gear for her and then we'll be off for her first time on a motorcycle.
They're days I wish I had a larger bike. My 652cc S - 40 is great for buzzing to appointments. For the ability to go on longer rides the Honda 750 would be a good choice. My bike only has 2.8 gallon tank. So it seams limited for most longer rides.
Just bought my first motorcycle, a 2006 Honda Shadow Spirit 750, gonna take it for a short spin today! Your video helped me make my decision on it! I also had my uncle who’s been riding for years and is more mechanically inclined than me take a look at it. Can’t wait to put some enjoyable miles on it
@@meandmyshadow7839 My first ride went well on the Shadow, I was a little nervous at the start of the ride, I had to go downhill out of my driveway/cul-de-sac, but once let it got momentum going down, it felt natural. In the rest of the neighborhood, what I learned in the MSF class came back to me and it was a pleasant 1-and-a-half-mile trip. Definitely need more practice, but it was a fun first ride, and the bike felt good! Can't wait to ride it again!
@Kaleb.R Excellent comment. I think that the more you ride the more your going to love it. It's a great bike. Just remember to take your time. Stay safe. Wear your saftey gear Ride your own ride!!!!!
Man a 99.....depending on its overall condition, tires, carbs, brakes, electrical, chain, and things like paint and seat maybe 2k. Depends on what ad ons as well.
Ive only owned Harleys stoped riding for 12 years and I just bought a Honda 750 ace and my first Harley was a sportster and I like my ace better sportster was to small rode it for a season and bought a Softail
I had to keep double checking that I was understanding you correctly & I assume that’s some planned cleverness . So that Was a little confusing lol but great video man I enjoyed . I thinking about trading an extra truck Iv had sitting out back for an 09 Shadow . Rode dirt bikes for yrs but very little street and none really since having kids. Owned lots of Honda 4wheeler & dirt bikes and almost always solid & dependable! Thanks & glad I came across your channel.
I like mine because it's very pretty, *but* there is a long list of little things not so great about this bike that add up. The foot pegs are far far too far forward making it uncomfortable bike to sit on; the keys dangle off the side instead of square of the middle of the front forks, requiring you to take the key off your keychain and put it back on every time; it's a heavy bike, and you feel like you're riding atop a freight train; lot of chrome on the bike so you're always polishing the silverware and high maintenance; no 5th gear indicator light which i find immensely annoying; there is a factory recall on the vacuum fuel petcock - mine bought used was toast and would cause the bike to never crank after you had cranked it up for 5 minutes; the battery seems undersized for it; the ignition key and front fork key locks seem to jam up a lot and not want to release your key; there is only one safe angle to shoot the gasoline in the tank, and if you don't get it right, you'll get sprayed back; initially, all the safety killswitches really annoyed and perplexed me until I figured them out; a lot of the parts on the bike are... ughhh plastic... like the fenders... and engine covers... i mean, really?; the battery is buried under the seat, not where you can get to it if you need to charge it or jump it off; I think the tires are tubed tires, which means if you get a puncture on the road, your screwed; the swing arm shelf in front of the rear tire is a landing pad for all the worlds sand, dirt and mud, because they did not extend the front of the rear fender far enough; the fuel petcock switch is buried between the cyldiners and too far forward so when you run out on a tank, and you are scrambling to find it to switch to reserve, you're poking your hands right into hot cyldiners and it's not where it's suppose to be. I could go on an on, but these are off the top of my head. It's a pretty bike, but then most are... and I like the shaft drive... but... it's not perfect. Honda made a lot of bad decisions throwing out things they use to do right, for doing things wrong, to copy the look of a Harley... basically. Probably the top 3 things that annoy me the most on every single ride (and I'm a zero car 100% motorcycle daily driver) are the foot pegs being far too forward, the side key location, the lack of an 5th gear overdrive light. You literally have to remind yourself not to leave the key hanging out the side in the bike when you park it. And I'm always wanting to shift up from 5th gear from the sound of the engine, only there's nothing above it. And the footpegs being nowhere under where I want to rest my feet... bu there being dead air there instead... is kind of distressing.
All very valid truth. I guess it's not perfect for everyone however those top 3 things that you listed don't really bother me. You are definitely not alone in your complaint about the food pegs either. Have you considered floorboards?
i own the same size bike a 99 honda shadow 750 ace i have not taken mine on the highway i,m a little fearful but need to get it done i think were i live it would not be too bad but would like someone with me that rides i do not ride with a windshild on my bike my 98 had one and i took it off i do not ride at night and am looking to put crash bars on my girl, would you know a good brand at a good price the only extras i have on my bike is a bluetooth for music off my phone it was given to me from a freind used but works very well i have the fog lights and a cell phone tank bib that stuff came with the bike a good freind installed the fog lights i installed the bluetooth myself well great videos keep up the good work and god bless
Thanks very much for the excellent comment and for watching my video I'm also on the hunt for hwy bars. The only ones I have found so far that will fit my particular bike are cobra. I saw them on revIlla and they're not cheap. I don't want to drop 300.00 right now on crash bars.
OK, i wasn't expecting that. i currently ride the Rebel 500. it's a good starter bike. i like the 750, want a Fury. but the looks of the Shadow match every other v twin. the dependability of the Honda line is unmatched. i have had my bike 6 months(got back into riding after 40 years) another 6 months to a year, i am going to invest in a Shadow Phantom, or a Fury. cool video, nothing but good stats on the Shadow.
2014 phantom has been my main ride since ii brought it home! Bat wing, wide beach bars, solo springer seat, fwd controls, long straight pipes, vellocity stack, cobra tuner, lowering kit, air ride shocks, mini floor boards, titanium exhaust wrap, all done in the off season. I'm in northern b.c.Canada so it's usually October to may..groan. It has people standing around it every time I come out of a store. Lol I had to leave a build sheet at the front desk where I worked because I was spending too much time talking to customers about my bike.
@Me and My Shadow wish I could post a picture, currently sitting in my living room for the winter, valve set and detailing are next. Rebuilding a 85 kawasaki 900 in the dining room, and a 83 night hawk in the garage...yah I'm divorced!
Wow That's truly a compliment!!! I honestly believe that this bike is an excellent choice for all of the reasons I have stated. I'm going on 15 years with mine if that tells you anything. Keep me posted on what you get and if you have any questions don't hesitate. Thanks for watching and commenting on the video.
@@meandmyshadow7839 They were asking $4000. It was very cool but it unfortunately wasn't a good fit for her. I loved it though, might need to pick one up when I'm ready to switch out of my fz07 ;)
Lol yes we do pay taxes and no they don't keep up on the roads 🤣. Only in America man!!! I'm not surprised that your classic (I'm sure we'll maintained) fires right up everytime!!! Because these bikes are freaking AWESOME!!!! Great comment. Thanks
I grew up racing motocross and have been on 2 wheels in some form or another my entire life, im finally taking the step to getting a road bike, and the honda shadow 750 is what i been looking at (havent tested yet though) , I dont care about namebrand shits, i also dont care about having the biggest beefiest hog on the road, i also care more about country roads than the highway, but acceleration is what i want, imo its not about top speed, you get used to that, but to be riding them turns and dragging ass outta them, ya, thats my goal. Do you think the honda shadow 750 fits the bill or do you think i should be looking more toward 1100-1200 range? thanks
While the 750 has plenty of get up and go, I'm not sure performance wise. Definitely get out on a test ride first. I will say that handling the 750 is better (my opinion), then a larger bike like you mentioned. Bigger bike, bigger displacement, and a lot heavier. Just some food for thought.
I’m just getting back into riding. I’m a bigger frame 6’1 270# and picked up a 2012 Rebel 250😂 yeah it’s a bit small but it got my feet back under me. I’m looking at a 2007 Shadow Spirit 750 in a week or so. I’m getting comfortable with my moped 250 but the 750 will better suit me in terms of size and power
It's really smart to start where you are comfortable specially if it been awhile since you have been riding. Congrats on the shadow purchase I'm jealous of course. I appreciate you taking the time to comment and watching. Please let me know how the shadow works out for you. You must be excited. Jumping up 500 cc!!!
Searching for a first bike and your title "Buyer Beware" concerned me as most feedback are that the Hondas were generally bullet proof. I'm actually considering a new Phantom.
@@meandmyshadow7839 Gotcha. I gathered after scanning the comments. Watching a ton of videos and don’t always have time to watch the entire vid in the moment. Thanks for the post.
All of them have Issues but Harley issues tend to be VERY expensive to fix. After we started PAYING for the bailout and helicopter money that the FEDs put out (printed) ... now they ALL are becoming expensive to fix.
I believe so yes the bike is pretty low to the ground. I would suggest going to a dealership and just sitting on one to make sure. You might also test the weight to see if it's a good fit.
@@meandmyshadow7839 Was planning on checking one out this weekend. I’m a little worried about the weight, but I guess I’ll see when I get there. Thanks! Great video!

I'm 5'1" 125lbs. . My 2007 Shadow Spirit is perfect for me! I've ridden 50,000 miles and have loved every second. I pull away quickly from my husband's Harley street glide and love asking him" why are you so slow catching me?" Love my Shadow. Low maintenance. Chance the tires at 8-10 thousand miles. Change the oil and filter every year. Plugs changes maybe every 5 years. Battery last 3-4 years. Keep on trickle charge in winter when NOT riding. My Shadow loves curves and hill also! I did a complete ride to Smokey Mountains and Tail of the Dragon, 118 curves in 11 miles. Rode the Cherohala mountain highway. It's a GREAT bike! U will fall in love and never want to cheat on it by riding another brand bike!!!!!
This comment is awesome!! Thanks for describing the true joy of owning one of these bikes and the adventures that you can have. Always does my heart good to read these excellent comments. Thanks!!
I got on here expecting to hear legit reasons why someone dislikes a shadow phantom... the only thing i got was funny sarcasm and then "im only upgrading to get a bike that can better haul 2 people", which just makes sense and isnt even criticism lmfao
thankyou for all the info and history man im really looking into getting one of these because being in the army reserves is alot of driving back and forth and less gas is used 👍🏾 how much do you pay for gas and insurance ?
Gas is super cheap like 15 dollars a week (depending on your area miles ect). My insurance is also not bad. I pay like 89.00 but that's for the year not per month
In the early to mid-80s when our country put taxes on their bike over a certain size, is the reason Japan started making Harley look alike. They sold for much less and performed better than the Harleys of the time. The mistake was the USA decided to tax them instead of making a better motorcycle.
Those were the days, I was stationed at Fort Leonardwood in those days. We were buying used dirt bikes for under $400.00. Because that's where they train the Engineers the tracks changed each and every week. Miles and miles of wooded trails.
Hi there! How is it going? Listen, I would like to acquire one of these bikes, the thing is that I have a fatboy screamin' with the 110 motor so I guess is too much motor for riding in heavy traffic; is the honda shadow 750 a good bike for a daily ride in constant heavy traffic? Your reply will be greatly appreciated, cheers!
Hello and thanks for watching and commenting. Yes the 750 is an excellent bike for daily commute . It's lightweight enough to maneuver and is also extremely reliable.
I don't believe a 750 is too powerful for a new rider especially here in Finland (EU) as your A2 license course is usually on a 690/700cc motorcycle KTM, Yamaha MT07 so a Shadow doesn't have that kind of 0 to 60 speed or horse power, a 750 cruiser would be far easier to handle than a snappy throttled naked bike.
You are correct. The 750 Shadow is pretty easy to handle, and the power is definitely more forgiving . The only thing that might intimidate a new rider is the weight. However, once you're on and riding, it's hardly noticeable as the weight of the bike is so low. I honestly believe that the Shadow makes a great first bike. Great comment and you are definitely correct. Great comment. Thank you.
@@meandmyshadow7839 I'm quite a big guy so the weigh of the bike doesn't bother me. I've actually been looking at this very bike for myself for about €3 to €4k
Considering a new 2022 750 Shadow Aero that’s been sitting in the local Honda dealership for a year. Any concerns with a bike sitting for a year? I sold my 2014 Harley Davidson Heritage Softail last year 103ci, 1690cc which was just getting too big as I approach 70 years of age. My first bike in 2012 was a new Yamaha 650 V Star that sat in the showroom for 2 years which It developed a small leak at the shaft drive which warranty covered but was a great first motorcycle.
With honda shadow highly doubtful there are any concerns. Specifically at a dealership. They are usually bullet proof. The dealership will , and should, give it a good once over before letting it leave.
@@meandmyshadow7839 Thanks for the reply. I purchased an Honda ADV 150 a month ago for commuting and back road fun and I’ve been having a great time with. There is a scooter club in town and they ride mostly Vespas and Groms with a sport bike or two, about 20 members. I’ll be joining in on their Monday evening rides. I’ve discovered however, I still have the cruiser bug in me is why I’m looking at the Honda Shadow. I’ll keep the ADV and two up on the Shadow. I will retire next year and look forward to getting some scootin and cruisin in with my wife who will retire soon as well. I’m enjoying your videos and hope you have a fun and safe summer!
@@meandmyshadow7839 It’s interesting that motorcyclists flash me the hello sign as they approach me in the opposite lane! The ADV 150 does look like a sport bike from the front. They probably do a double take and realize they acknowledged a scooter or as I have done when I was riding the Harley, I acknowledged any two wheeler on the road. I’ve never researched how that all started. Any ideas?
One of my older videos, I believe it's called biker wave and skate boards or something like that I go into it. I will biker wave anyone on two or three wheels doesn't matter what it is. Just not a bicycle. Lol
love your channel bro i take my msf course on sep 20th i hope i pass fingers crossed but i definitely want to buy a honda shadow and detail it like i do my mustang 🔥🔥
I have never owned a Shadow 750. It's not that I don't like the bike, but except for the very first Shadow 750s, they all have tube type tires. I will not ride a bike with tube type tires. They have almost killed me, they have left me stranded countless times, and they have cost me a fortune in towing bills. I am FINISHED with tube type tires. Otherwise I think the Shadow 750 is a great bike. It was the 700cc bikes that Japan came up with in response to the Harley tariffs. I have never heard of a bike with an actual 750cc. Even the 700s were 699cc. The Honda Rebel 250 is only 234cc. It's kind of like the price of a gallon of gas always ends in nine tenths. Just one tenth away from the next whole number. I love carburetors. I have never had any problems with them. But I can fix them if I do. I won't touch an EFI computer bike with a 10 foot pole. Most people who are not mechanically inclined are not interested in motorcycles. In love motorcycle because they are MACHINES (excluding computerized motorcycles) I was a professional mechanic for 37 years, now retired. I have always done all my own maintenance and repairs on my motorcycles. The Honda VTX1300 and VTX1800 are great bikes, IMO the VTX1800 is simply too big and too heavy. They weigh more than a Goldwing. But they do have tubeless tires, which means they are going to be a lot safer, won't leave you stranded, and won't cost you more than you paid for the bike in towing charges. The most comfortable cruisers I have ever ridden have been the Kawasaki Vulcan 750 (I have over 230,000 miles on three of those) and the Yamaha Virago 750 and 1100 twin shock versions.
I didn't know that the VTX 1300 and 1800 are tubeless tires . I agree that tubeless is the way to go. The Kawasaki bikes are incredible bikes. Seriously looking at several of them now. Don't have much experience with Yamaha however I hear great things. Excellent comment!!!
I can't remember the year model, but it was late 80s early 90s, my wheels were NOT wire wheels. The bike was a 1100. I sure regret getting rid of it. It was teal and silver. A friend had the 750 and only on stop light to light could I pull away from him. Tim, I just love listening to you going through the gears. Just a awesome motor and bike.
@@vernoncrutcher7153 Pretty sure the bike you are talking about is either the Shadow Spirit 1100 or the Shadow Sabre 1100. Both were shaft drive. One of the best engines Honda ever made. They were considered better than the later VTX1300.
The 1100 is a great bike. A friend of mine who has a channel as well (MotoAlley, check him out) rides the same bike and absolutely loves his. They are a bit rarer on the used market. I think it's because they are well liked and not a lot of owners sell. Honestly, I wish that Honda still made them.
I got to change the oil and get a helmet and I’m legally allowed to ride mine finally but I’m going to need tires and tubes. Before I can ride it very far. And it’s crazy how much they are to get changed and disability doesn’t pay rent utilities and food so I might not be able to ride it much this year and not at all next year Gezzz $675 bucks were I live Gezzz
One suggestion is what I did. I bought my tires online then had the dealer put them on. In the end though it was still around 500.00 when all was said and done. I guess it's a price for saftey. Tires are so important and they know it.
would this bike be okay for commuting to and from school? I take the highway about 40 miles per day @70 mph and occasionally 75 to pass. Can this bike do that? Thanks for the video! looks like a great bike! I'm looking at a really clean 2008 shadow for just 2-3k Edit: If I don't get a shadow, I was going to pick up an old Harley 1200 sportster or maybe even a Yamaha stryker if i can afford it haha
Yes this bike can handle that however for hwy speeds I might consider a bigger bile such as the shadow 1100 or vtx 1300 or vtx1800. The 750 can do this but for a bit more power you may want to consider a bit more cc. Just a perso nal opinion.
@XtraTerrestrial_519 Yea. In hindsight, I feel like Japanese is the way to go with almost all motorcycles. They just know what they are doing and have been doing for decades.
I honestly believe that abs is better but I have adjusted for that with my breaking and allowing for time to stop. ABS would be nice honestly I don't see the need. That's just me though.
It’s a great bike every thing you said was true but I do want more power it’s not bad at all but it’s probably a good thing that’s why I don’t have a street bike
I hear you on the power. That's why a honda vtx1800 is in my near future. I still love the shadow for everything that it is though. Great comment thanks.
You could have said all this from your garage. It would have been more pertinent to viewer attention and possible questions. Riding along with the noise is just egotism.
@@meandmyshadow7839 I was replying to the nomad guy lol, I enjoyed the video! Going to check out a Shadow this weekend for my first motorcycle. So the video was helpful!
what i wished i would have known about the shadow 750 was that honda decided to take the decent featured and performing shadow 750 of the 80's and turn it into one of the slowest least featured street bikes on the market. the 80's shadow 750 had around 70 hp 6 speed gearbox, a top speed of 130ish and a low fuel light indicator. my 2000 shadow 750 has a romping 46hp, a 5 speed gearbox, a top speed of 90 if you're going downhill and no fuel indicator or gauge with a gas tank that you can't even see the fuel level unless it's full my shadow is so gutless that on the highway when you come to an incline you can't keep up with the flow of traffic even at full throttle. i wanted a highway cruzer, something my 80's era 650-4 isn't good at, what i got was a way slower bike that isn't good at highway riding......
I got my 03 honda shadow Jan of 2022, I got it from a guy that had it sitting for 6 years, Its my first motorcycle I took the MSF Course and I love tinkering with it, Its simple to work on and I enjoy every moment on my bike.
That's freaking awesome man. Is it an ace or Sabre or what. How did you feel about the MSF course?
Great bike
I lived almost 14 years in MA USA, 2005 at 2018 when I went deported to my country with only the clothes of the body. 14years of my life dumped to the trash at this moment, I lost all I had ,some good money on the DCU bank, many different types os eletronics and instruments, many iphones, ipds, expensive game computer. too many tools, but my 92 caddilac civil STS and 2003 honda shadow ACE broken my heart and my soul to many pieces. 4 years later I don´t know how I´m survive living . But you man living in that country having all those roads to cross with this Shadow, just have a fun and God Bless you for all that . chears.

I really hope and pray that things get better for you and that you continue to watch this channel. Thanks again so much for sharing this.
You lost a lot but the Lord Jesus stood by you.
Absolutely man. This bike just checks way to many boxes for me not to love it.
What about a 280 lb 6'3 guy?
You may be a bit cramped on the seating position, but the weight is not an issue. It has a capacity of at least 500 lbs. I would definitely go sit on one first, though. The seating should be fine, but your legs.. on the mid controls may be a different story.
@meandmyshadow7839 Appreciate the response. I am a long leg proportionate tall person (I sit next to my fiance who is 4' 11.5", and her head is at my nose).
Yeah, I would definitely go sit on one or demo one before buying. You may be just fine, but it can't hurt

2007 Spirit, had for 11 years. 17500 miles now. 12000 by me, New battery and tires and oil changes and one set of plugs. STARTS EASY EVERY TIME AND SO EASY TO RIDE
I'm telling you with proper care and maintenance this bike is bullet proof. Love it!!!

How do you like your 07?
I bought a 2000 750 ACE,liked it so much,I bought an '02 750 Ace! 😉. Fun bikes.....
Awesome man two shadows
Love your video,, I bought a new ( 15 miles on it) '09 750c2 spirit w/ 50,145 miles on it now. No , none, absolutely no problems at all, very very reliable, you went by my neighborhood in watagua, Texas,Oved to Richland hills. Be safe out there !
I've put 50,145 miles on my shadow added to the 15iles it had when I bought it.
Awesome howdy neighbor
you had me going for a minute LOL.
Lol ahhh Harley our love hate affair. I know that after a certain amount of miles it can really get to be a pain. Both in the butt and wallet.
There really is a lot to be said about Honda and there reliability
Great job 👍
Thank you and thanks for watching and commenting I appreciate it
Easiness of it is no cause for shame.
Just bought my first bike, 01 honda shadow ace 750. LOVE this bike so far!

This is an excellent comment and you have made.my day 😀
Let me know if you have any questions or concerns!!!
Man, i was looking for 500 also, right until I ran into shadow and fell in love with it too as my first motorcycle.
@@olegyefremov2583 That's how it goes. I'm 5 months into owning mine and I'm so happy I made the choice to get one.
Looked at the new Shadow Aero and I really love the aesthetics of it. Made me think….
Thanks for the comment and I didn't know that comparison between the carburetors.

@@meandmyshadow7839 riding helps me relax and get rid of that stress too especially when I'm driving at slower speeds sometimes so that I can just take my time to go from one place to another while observing the things around me. @aniketjaswal10 Yes, always ride your own ride.

They're days I wish I had a larger bike. My 652cc S - 40 is great for buzzing to appointments. For the ability to go on longer rides the Honda 750 would be a good choice. My bike only has 2.8 gallon tank. So it seams limited for most longer rides.
100 more cc may just do the trick. I wouldn't say that the Shadow was built for super long distance. However, it can do it.
Just bought my first motorcycle, a 2006 Honda Shadow Spirit 750, gonna take it for a short spin today! Your video helped me make my decision on it!

Thanks for watching and commenting. Welcome to the channel.

I'm also on the hunt for hwy bars.

Heck yeah brother

I’m 5’5” at 150. Would this be a good starter for me? I just love the style of it and of course the price tag.
Thanks and yeah I would definitely check it out first. You might look into a Rebel 500 as well. They're a bit smaller but if your looking for a starter bike that's another excellent bike. Just a suggestion

In the early to mid-80s when our country put taxes on their bike over a certain size, is the reason Japan started making Harley look alike. They sold for much less and performed better than the Harleys of the time. The mistake was the USA decided to tax them instead of making a better motorcycle.
Great comment!!! It was no mistake as far as the government was concerned. They made more money and those who ride lost.
@@meandmyshadow7839 It's not really a loss, the bikes were faster, lighter, more reliable, and best of all cheaper.
@timothyprice9064 True. It also forced HD to improve. It opened up a whole new world for folks who couldn't afford to ride before.

I sold my 2014 Harley Davidson Heritage Softail
last year 103ci, 1690cc which was just getting too big as I approach 70 years of age.
It’s interesting that motorcyclists flash me the hello sign as they approach me in the opposite lane!
Lol

Sounds awesome
@vernoncrutcher7153 Thanks for the excellent comment, my friend. I love that you watch and take the time to leave your thoughts!!!
@@vernoncrutcher7153 Pretty sure the bike you are talking about is either the Shadow Spirit 1100 or the Shadow Sabre 1100. Both were shaft drive. One of the best engines Honda ever made. They were considered better than the later VTX1300.

hi nice video did you ride the whole time with joke ? it has a realy high idle.
No choke. I have adjusted the idle since that video. Thanks for the comment.
what model shadow is the better version/more reliable?
They are all pretty reliable. I have the ACE. Overall any of the shadows are going to get you that reliability unless previous owner has trashed it
That's not why. Bike are sold as a certain size. They always round up.
Yes that true however during the Regan years he put certain rules in place as well.
I have a 2007 shadow 1100 sabre and can't ride it often enough.

Edit: If I don't get a shadow, I was going to pick up an old Harley 1200 sportster or maybe even a Yamaha stryker if i can afford it haha
Yes this bike can handle that however for hwy speeds I might consider a bigger bile such as the shadow 1100 or vtx 1300 or vtx1800. The 750 can do this but for a bit more power you may want to consider a bit more cc. Just a perso nal opinion.
It will be fine. Bigger and heavier would be appropriate for sustained high speed long distance. VT 750 may be exactly correct for what you’re doing.
Thanks for the comment. I always appreciate the opinions and I believe your correct. Bigger would be better however I have to work with what I have

what i wished i would have known about the shadow 750 was that honda decided to take the decent featured and performing shadow 750 of the 80's and turn it into one of the slowest least featured street bikes on the market. the 80's shadow 750 had around 70 hp 6 speed gearbox, a top speed of 130ish and a low fuel light indicator. my 2000 shadow 750 has a romping 46hp, a 5 speed gearbox, a top speed of 90 if you're going downhill and no fuel indicator or gauge with a gas tank that you can't even see the fuel level unless it's full my shadow is so gutless that on the highway when you come to an incline you can't keep up with the flow of traffic even at full throttle. i wanted a highway cruzer, something my 80's era 650-4 isn't good at, what i got was a way slower bike that isn't good at highway riding......
