      Absolutely. I just want to make the bike more mine(if that makes sense) without changing the overall look too much. I really love the look of the original and try to be careful in how much I change that.

    I have that exact tank bag, my wife bought it for me, I laughed at it at first. But the laughter stopped once I used it a couple times lol, its very convenient for keeping things that you might need access to at a light and you dont want to wrestle with the bike trying to get into your fork or saddle bags lol

      the clear cover on that bag, with a smaller battery powered LED like the tiny stickup night lights, makes for a great make shift lantern, or if you get a light that flashed, a great safety flasher at night without having to use your bikes battery up with the hazards on

    I am in the process of buying a Honda Shadow 750 Aero. The bike I am getting has a windshield but I am planning on replacing that with a bat wing fairing. I used to ride many years ago on a KZ1000. I put a bat wing fairing on it. Best move I made of all my accessories. Wind Protection, storage, etc all outweighed any arguments against the bat wing.

      I really do like the functionality of the batwing. I just think that it may change the overall look that was intended on the Shadow a bit too much. I may change my mind in the future and go for one, though. That's the beauty of these bikes (Harley as well). You can make them look how you want to suit your needs. Great comment 👍

    Not keen on the Bat Wing fairings. I like the smaller Vedder Rooster that's more compact and has speakers and a stereo. The '82 Yamaha XJ750 I bought had that Rooster fairing, unfortunately the windshield cracked and the wind blew it in half off the bike. I will be picking up another XJ1100 and would like to have the same fairing or at least a windshield for them all.

    My bike is in storage for the winter. I just got back to biking in August after not riding for 40 years. The bike came with bags a cover, a set of Cobra pipes that I switched back to stock and a batwing. I haven't installed the batwing yet and I cant drive over 50 mph due to the wind effect. I will try the fairing in April when I get the bike back and let you know. I'm hoping to get up to 65 mph with the fairing.

      I guess we never forget our 1st bike and the era we drove in.This was the 70s and I was having a great time. Throughout life, marriage, kids, mortgage careers we put some things on the back burner. I don't want to miss out on the experience. I have only ridden alone. It's peaceful. I'm only responsible for myself for the first time in I can't remember. On a side bar I did have installed crash bars. I want to give my legs a standing chance of surviving a drop or accident. I have a 2004 Aero 750 with 40k miles it's shinny and red, more than enough bike.

    Fairing? Looks? Who cares? FUNCTION matters, nothing else. I always prefer a Silhouette type. Just the frontal shape of a fairing, yet clear all the way down. Thks for the info re: what you have, but (1) more info re: back rest & (2) the rear box mount??? I don't want saddle bags (I'm considering buying a Honda Shadow). Secondly, how the saddle fits you? Your height and inseam? Are rear shocks factory or new, improved type? Did you ride cross nation, or just a Sunday morning cruiser? BTW, I'm four-score years now and plan one last ride-around before I die.

I pulled the windshield off my Shadow for the look and ended up throwing it right back on the bike. It's definitely nice to have the wind protection. I’m also debating between my clear windshield or a Batwing. I haven’t decided yet. I like the looks and functionality of the Batwing but the body is black. With the windshield I have full road visibility and I already own it. I have a 86 Honda VT1100C and the only one that fits is the single wall handle bar mount, like what I already have. @@meandmyshadow7839 I have to say I agree with you, I should have bought a bagger if that’s what I wanted. I liked the light and no fuss look of my bike, then I couldn’t carry anything. I put on some Viking bags and problem solved. I paid a shop to install fork seals and they put a big scratch in my fairly new windshield, now I hate it. I didn’t notice it until later or a new one would be installed, my bad. I ordered a universal Batwing and it’s here tomorrow 6/21. It’s painted to match my black and has a better look than the boring windshield. I figured I’m riding it so if I like it, that’s what counts. Does your bike use relays? If you have relays then the safest way to wire all the goodies in would be to tie them into the accessories relay. They sell them as direct battery connect to be "universal" to any bike and thankfully you have the on/off mechanical switch to cut the parasitic drain to the battery. Bikes with relays you can hang them off the relays and not worry about parasitic drain issues as the relays disconnect when the key isn't in and turned to the on/acc position.

    • @meandmyshadow7839
      @meandmyshadow7839  Год назад +1

      I honestly don't know if it has relays. It's an 03

    • @pd8559
      @pd8559 Год назад +2

      @@meandmyshadow7839 At minimum all bikes would have a starter and turn signal relay but those would not be suitable to tap into since the are only in use momentarily. On my bike for example if I turn the key off then I notice that my headlight goes off so that tells me that circuit is tied in behind the key switch. My key switch cuts and connects the battery power to everything downstream of it which would be handy to tie off onto as it would supply power when key is inserted and turned on which is when I would want an accessory device powered and running then when they key is removed at the end of a ride the power connection to the bike’s battery would be cut to the device and no worrying about any parasitic drain on the battery while the bike sits. Honda should be a negative ground so any chassis component or ground wire should read zero volts on a dmm meter when tested to the negative terminal in the battery. So that would mean the key switch is switching the positive side of the battery to everything downstream of it. If I tested and confirmed this on my bike I’d leave the negative wire I ran to the battery there if not wanting to move it then move the positive wire that I had previously run directly to the battery positive terminal so it now connects behind the key switch which is switching the positive side of the battery. Then it would have a complete circuit and power up when key is inserted and turned to on and when key removed the positive is cut off and the device no longer gets power and cannot drain the battery. If that makes sense. Then for safety sake I’d always make sure each device had either its own fuse or I’d put in a fuse block to tie off all my devices behind fuse protection. Your favorite online retailer would likely sell 380 or whatever number of pieces kits of endless sizes of automotive blade fuses and then ten or automotive blade fuse holders with wires already attached for $14 or so.
