I have subscribed to multiple boxes over the last year. I canceled most of them. I kept Open Gate and Creative Notions. I find I don’t like most of the projects in Creative Notions but still enjoy getting them. I love Open Gate. I enjoyed the box you opened today but not sure I’d want to invest that much money in unknown stuff when I can go to my local quilts store and spend it on things I really want. That being said, I love the battle of the boxes and am looking forward to March and starting up again. You are so nice and pleasant, it’s a joy knowing you. And we live pretty close together too. How fun. Stay happy and enjoy the little bit of sun we’ve been having. I was getting quite tired of the gloom. See you soon.
Excellent box, pricey, but you get what you pay for. Never seen a box so put together. Nice to see notions that actually goes with the projects and get all the fabric needed that you need for a project.
I use topstitch needles quite a bit in bagmaking, along with super universal nonstick needles. They have needles for everything! I have found what threads and different weights of thread will or will not work easily with my machine.
I bought a Tula bag kit from my local quilt store and it was $75 so the price seems reasonable to me. I think the creativity of the box is good and it’s unlike anything we normally see. It may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it is creative and I like it.
It’s a nice box. I get a few different boxes and I think I’d rather have more boxes for the price of that one. It is a very nice box and I love the fabric. Thank you for viewing all these boxes for us. ❤
Love this box. Just a little out of my price range. I would have to cancel my other boxes to be able to afford this. I'm a reader and I'm going to see if I can get this book at my library, if not I will look for it online to purchase. This is such a great value as you have everything that you need to make the projects. The fabric is beautiful.
Too pricy for me, loved the typewriter fabrics. And the book was a cute idea. Wonder if there might be some quilt pattern somewhere in it? I’ve read books that had a lot of cooking in them and there were recipes at the end. A bonus! Thanks for sharing.
Hi Holly. I learned about your channel from Brenda over at Conquering Mount Scrapmore With Brenda. I am so happy you said you would still take checks. I don' t do the other stuff. I am seemingly too old to deal with all of that! HAHA!
Amazing box! I'm a big fan of Cozy Mysteries (of all sorts - Quiltinging, Sewing, Fiber Arts, Crafting & Bookmobiles), so the book seemed fun and on point with the theme of the box. Yes, it's pricey; however, sounds like it's an online workshop/class with materials provided - you would pay close to this for an in person class & materials. I love video classes & tutorials as I'm a visual learner. Lovely presentation and that box can be reused in the sewing room for sure! It seems geared toward intermediate or advance quilters - but that's been a complaint I've seen that some boxes are too set for beginners - can't please everyone I guess. How fun a bookmark for your book, a tote bag for your books, and a pretty quilt to cozy up with as you read while enjoying a cup of something hot (currently snowing here!). Looking forward to next month to see how the trend goes.
Saw the Mrs. Quilty unboxing and my eyeballs popped out of my head when you said the price of Mended Hearts. That's the price of advent calendars! Holly! I'm rolling on the floor! "You may ask, 'Why would anyone pay $110 a month for a subscription box? I don't know!" cracking me up! I can buy exactly what I want at that price (and do 😬) I could see this price for a quarterly like Sweetwater Quilt Co. Okay, my issue with this box is that I have all those notions, even the thread, and I have the book pattern - the only thing I didn't have was the fabric and mystery book. For $15 (I think the book was $14.95) I'd rather have something usable like say 3 or 4 small spools of Aurifil, nice snips like Kai because the handles are bigger, a magnetic pin holder, a desk vacuum, etc. - NOT a book (that's what my e-Reader is for). I only buy books from a few different authors. Did that book have a pattern to make the tie dresden block on the cover? That block appealed to me 🙂. Yep, for $110 I could get a quilt kit of Kaffe or Tula - now that appeals to me! Thank you for the unboxing and chat.
Fun box but not my cup of tea. I have done paper crafting and mixed media subscription boxes for years and after a while there are only so many embellishments and stamps one needs. Hoping to find a good general sewing or quilting box subscription. Your videos have saved me a ton of $$. Thank you!!!
OK, I think this box is amazing! Just kinda taken aback by the inclusion of a book. LOL Me, personally, I'd get more fabric and make a throw quilt and not the bag. Kudos on the notions! Once again, thank you for sharing with us! Keep smiling and stay kind!
Interesting box, but above my price point. I love that you share all the boxes with us! Fun fabric. I bought the Book Nerd pattern previously but haven't done it yet as I'm not as fond of paper piecing as you. Plus, you need to enlarge the copy--so that was a bonus that they did that for you!
Every box you open I ask myself if I'd pay any where near that much for the project/items included. I wouldn't pay 100 bux for a tote bag. The book I'd seriously be irked about. I want skill building items from subscription boxes, not fiction. A pattern book would have been great. I understand it fits the theme but it's not something I'd want to read. Fiction choices are so varied from person to person. On the plus side there are good full sized notions.
FWIW, I got it without watching her video... I'm ok with the project, but that is me. I want to do my thing not the project of the month. With that said, I did appreciate the amount of stuff that you got - full size spool, paper piecing ruler, paper piecing pattern printed out, etc. & her theming is spot on.
The box appeals to me because of all the variety of items in it but … way above my price range. Like you, I love specific instructions. I so dislike the words “quilt/decorate as desired”. Love your headdress and your pretty nails.
I am considering ordering something like this, only a bit less expensive. Interesting. I guess I would not necessarily want to receive a book, I am not a reader. However, even as I write this, it might actually be fun to get a series of books and follow the series, I can change, right? Hmmm, and the explanation of FPP might be helpful as I have never tried it. Takeaway: I'm still on the fence about subscriptions, mostly bc I like to pick out my own stuff.
The box is pricey. I just finished the book nerd quilt.. full size notions is great. Adding a book is a different idea. Wonder if video would help explain. Follows a theme.
The theme of this box is lovely, a book, a book bag to make, a book nook quilt pattern, and a bookmark. The amount of fabric you got is kind of sad for the price. Their homemade card confused me with the hexies motif. If this came down in price by more than $20 from the sale price, this box would be a maybe.
Fabric is really cute. However, it is too expensive to make one bag. The thread seems too heavy to sew a bag. The book, I am not sure I would be happy to get a book and not sewing items. I would need photo for bookmark. I would not purchase this box.
I have enjoyed reading all of the Carol Dean Jones cozy quilting mysteries.

Fun box. I also love paper piecing. I find it very relaxing and satisfying. Thanks for sharing
Excellent box, pricey, but you get what you pay for. Never seen a box so put together. Nice to see notions that actually goes with the projects and get all the fabric needed that you need for a project.
That box is cool beans. It is pricey but everything is useable. Loved the fabric!

I like this box. Great theme and projects! At this point everything is on my wish list. Thanks for sharing Be Well

Nice box. The typewriter fabric is Rad! Great video!
This box is very well curated. As a book lover, I am in love with the fabric - wow!
The book is delightful. And I believe it is a series of 3.
Girl!!! For that price it better be absolutely fantastic!
I love your cheerful videos

Very interesting box. I’m looking forward to next month’s theme.
Ooh love the box! I love books too! Great themed projects! Show us if/when you do any of it!
Too pricy for me, loved the typewriter fabrics. And the book was a cute idea. Wonder if there might be some quilt pattern somewhere in it? I’ve read books that had a lot of cooking in them and there were recipes at the end. A bonus! Thanks for sharing.
Very cool, I like the themes and this seemed on point. I do love a good cozy crafting mystery!
Looks like a good box

Indeed!🥰
Pricey box. Over my limit tho. I like the patterns, the fabric and notions you get in the box. Have a great day.
The material is lovely
The fabric line is made by Northcott. Did they say in the video what to do with the embroidery thread and felt ?
bookmark - the floss it for you to decorate.
OK, I think this box is amazing! Just kinda taken aback by the inclusion of a book. LOL Me, personally, I'd get more fabric and make a throw quilt and not the bag. Kudos on the notions! Once again, thank you for sharing with us! Keep smiling and stay kind!

I agree, I'm a bit surprised a pair of readers weren't included. wink
Yes. I agree.
Wow I’m a book lover too

Did they explain the bookmark? . I guess it was the felt which said to embroider as you like
In the video they did explain the book mark, but the decoration is up to you.
Too expensive for me on a fixed income. But the material was great. I think it will make a cool book bag.
Cute and well thought out. But too pricey for me, especially for an every month box.
The box is pricey. I just finished the book nerd quilt.. full size notions is great. Adding a book is a different idea. Wonder if video would help explain. Follows a theme.
Nice box, but ouch pretty pricey. I love the book quilt pattern. Needs more outline of the box
Very expensive! That’s all I have to say.
Fabric is really cute.
However, it is too expensive to make one bag. The thread seems too heavy to sew a bag.
The book, I am not sure I would be happy to get a book and not sewing items.
I would need photo for bookmark.
I would not purchase this box.
