"I think I'm still combat effective" as it's just him strapped to the pilot seat propelled across the sky from inertia and his wing spinning past him. lol Very entertaining as usual. Well done sir.
@@Filip_Phreriks Depends on how fast they're going. The F-104 Starfighter could supposedly fly perfectly fine at mach 2 without wings. The whole problem starts arising when you want to change direction.
Two "cousins" fighting each other: to think that the Rafale could have been the Eurofighter itself, if France kept their commitment with the other major EU countries involved at the time in the project: running by memory, the "Rafale" precursor idea was one of the possible candidate to the Eurofighter place, but France wanted it - as the actual, indipendently produced Rafale - also able to operate as a carrier plane, a feature not so primary to the other EU countries (mainly, Italy, Germany and Spain, as none of them needed a navalized version)... ... so France pulled off the continental project and pursued their internal development, also to be able to have an "in house" fighter to be independent to external factors. Kinda risky economically, but (as an airplane enthusiast as me) a great way to see two very nice ones instead of only one 😋
@@Foxtrop13 🙂 Definitely Dassault has an awesome heritage of deltas... and even if the collaboration didn't actually work, I'm pretty sure that some of the french ideas still survived in the final Eurofighter. I think that none of the two is "messed up", in the end: the main difference I think is just about the production of the actual plane itself. For the Eurofighter, each main partecipant country produce only "a set" of parts, and then they are assembed together, as a shared result... France, I think, was against this production organization, and wantend to have a whole production line (mostly, probably, to keep the whole Dassault fully functional, and not as only a contractor of some systems)
The French also have been very entrepreneurial in selling weapons and tech to neutral and non-ally nations. Heck, they were selling nuclear reactors to Saddam that Iran and Israel teamed up to airstrike. They would want their ability to produce their aircraft less restricted by other countries' approval of France's customers.
That's a sanitized version of events. Apart from the diverging requirements, France "left" the coalition because it wanted to be firmly in the driver seat of the project, not share know-how, get most of the industry workshare, but have the other nations pay the bill. France pursues the so called strategic autonomy and is very protective of its industries. This makes defence collaborations difficult, which can be seen, again, in currently faltering projects.

@@G-2Ub the F-22 could take out almost anything in the sky not just because it’s stealthy. It’s because you are an experienced and the top best pilot can fly the 5th gen fighters. The delta planform on both aircraft means that the undersides of the outboard wing sections aren't in the way of the wingtip vortices from the inboard wing sections, which then curl back around inject energy into the airflow on topsides of the outboard sections. This delays the stall to much higher AoA, which means they can take out a ton of lift, but, not having the wingtip vortices blocked leads to a ton of induced drag at high AoA. This contributes to the tight one-circles down to the deck we see here, and but also leaves the aircraft with a severe energy deficit when they hit the deck. In a 2-circle fight, both aircraft are good at generating overshoot because they can slow down so quickly, but, for the same reason, both are good at preventing overshoot. However, whoever loses the overshoot fight ends up carrying a lot of AoA (with the corresponding drag) to stay airborne, and can't do much to prevent the other party from shooting away into another 2-circle.
