I kinda see this scene as a sign of respect. The Predator removes his helmet and some gadgets and stops hunting Dutch as prey and instead fights him as an opponent.
And Dutch only survived because he outsmarts The Predator. It was amazing.
Right. And punches like we would everything.
An awesome finish to an awesome horror movie. The Monster reveals himself as does Arnie.
I think predator wanted to see the terror in Arnie's eyes before ending him for good. He knew he was bigger and stronger and could beat him easily. He underestimated Dutch.
@Justin WZRD We haven't seen Billy vs Predator fight.
@Justin WZRD I always thought Billy was way more intimidating than Dutch. It would've been nice to see more of his character in the movie.
The beautiful thing about this scene is how it shows that manliness is essentially not about showing off, but about ultimate survival.
Marcus Rotkirch absolutely
As great as this film is almost every scene with the predator should be removed! You can start right at the intro where it shows the alien ship sending the creature to earth.
Too much information ruins the mystery behind the alien.
The alien also looks quite lnferior, weak and predictable in most of the fight scenes. I wish he was a little bit more supernatural with technology beyond our understanding.
Don't get me wrong, I think this is one of the greatest scifi action films and I love it. And the design of the alien was ahead of its time.
@@FriendlyCroock Intreresting and certainly unconventional view. I agree the Predator's final appearance was always a bit of a let-down. They basically just stuck a crab's head on a tall guy with dreads and long finger nails. Can't say I agree on the rest though. The film assumes such a high octane war-action mode after the short scene with the space ship that you kinda forget about it until later; the scene when the creature comes out of the water is scary and awesome; and the fact his technology is kinda decipherable makes the fight more relatable. If you're talking about the fight coreography as opposed to the acutal look of the creature, then the reason is probably because the actor could barely see inside the suit and basically had to be told where to strike and when...
FriendlyCrooc dude, what do you expect from an 80’s film though. This movie was way ahead of its time, what would you expect? This movie is done far more superiorly with practical effects than the CGI we have today.

it's much more scary without CGI. Looks so natural.
Arni88 looks organic real right

Imagine him in the Octagon? Ref would have a look like...😳😯 "This-Is-Gonna-Be-A-Different-Fight"
Fair fight nothing. He used his claws before Dutch punched him in the face.
Still a fair fight by Predator standards, as long as he decloaks and didn’t use that plasma weapon.
I believe that he took a second to process what dutch said to him then immediately got offended upon realising it was an insult.
@@GenMaster I think it’s because he just realized what ugly meant. Then he was like ok, I got something for this mfer lmao

Not Gone Lie, The Last Movie In This Franchise Prey Tough As Hell Too
@@payton2297 nah, it's "woke feminist" garbage.
I always liked how the Predator seemed to understand exactly what Dutch was saying. It reacted angrily, but also showed intelligence, and at times respect. Like when it's following Dutch into his trench, and notices his trap, it doesn't look angry; it looks at him like "Oh, you're good". It sets it apart from other monsters, like the xenomorph, that has one goal; surviving by either eliminating threats or increasing the numbers of its kind. The Predator is all about pride, honor, and the thrill of the hunt.
Exactly, I always liked how much depth and character the Predator has in this movie. He is intelligent and clearly has emotions, you can see how disappointed in himself after Dutch beat him with the log but also the satisfaction he has when ultimately killing himself at the end to regain his honour a samurai or any great warrior would
Nobody likes being called ugly
The Predators, or rather Yautjas, have built spaceships capable of interstellar travel and advanced weaponry, so yes, they are intelligent. Much more so than humans in fact. Still no match for Arnie (Dutch) though.....
That Billy’s laugh at the end will always be epic
Billy was the guy with the long hair who dies last (killed on the bridge after faces off against the predator with just a knife, which he uses to slice a scar into his own chest). The predator had recorded his laugh from earlier in the movie when the guy who tells jokes finally got Billy to laugh. He also recorded Billy's "anytime" dialogue and replayed it to lure Bill Duke's character. I reckon he recorded only Billy's sounds because Billy being the biggest with the gruffest voice sounded most similar to the Predator's actual voice.
@@MtnCommando no man the predator recorded Mac's "anytine" to lure Dillon. You are right just got the names mixed up a bit
But the actor of Billy will always remembered RIP
@@hassejr7072 Bruh. Irrelevant.

I love how at the end Dutch looks traumatized. Even the big guy had to pause for a while to let it sink in that he just discovered we are not alone in the universe. The aliens are pretty freaking powerful and the government is aware and keeping things a secret. Not to mention, he just barely made it out alive. And his best friends died. He is worn out and has TONS of questions that he knows ue probably wont get any answers to.

Without human facial expressions, he was able to give a "Do I look like I'm that stupid?"
@@PikaCheeks "yo i'm called the jungle hunter for something"

The new Predator in Prey would like a word.
@@user-nv2wt4hi8t irrelevant comparison.
The Feral predator was one of the first Yautja hunters to land on earth. He was in an entirely new and unknown environment and had absolutely no idea what he would find or what to expect. It’s only natural that he wouldn’t possess the same degree of tactical smarts the jungle hunter in the 1987 film does..
@@loneshinobi2682 You're misinterpreting me entirely. Just because this predator is one of the first Yautja hunters to land on earth (funnily, never actually explained or addressed directly in the movie so I guess I should take your word on it because the film never once bothers to let us know this), doesn't mean he should possess absolutely no tactical mind and run into every single battle with groups of humans like a mindless fool. Every fight he's cut, stabbed, shot and he simply comes off painfully inept as he continues to walk through group after group. Aside from what that says against his combat skills, he simply comes across as a trigger happy moron of a Predator and suffers for it. There's no stealth, no elusiveness, no ability. Knowledge of the terrain or not, the OG Predator outran Arnold's group of specialists as they mowed down the jungle (with nothing more than one flesh wound on his leg) and beat a trained expert like Mac to the punch in a contest of patience and got the jump on him. Forget first time on earth, this looked like his first hunt by what an incompetent tool he was. He gave Predators a bad name.
@@user-nv2wt4hi8t you’ve proved how little you know with your entire monologue.
This WAS the Feral predator’s first hunt on earth. He was in fact inexperienced and yeah, it shows. This didn’t once take away from the entertainment factor for me at all. The Feral predator also belongs to a different type/clan that favors tracking prey from the ground and aggressively engaging in melee/hand to hand combat. It’s a standard for them. Maybe it isn’t as tactically sound or smart as other hunters we’ve seen but that’s irrelevant. Feral hunted and fought according to HIS standards while not going against their honor code.
He loses his cool more than a few times and becomes quick to temper but it matters not. A great example is when Naru was in the bear trap. He had every opportunity to kill her on the spot and he simply.. walked away. Because it wouldn’t have been fair..
Idk what kind of standards you possess for movies but imo this is the best predator film we’ve had since the 1987 original. I said what I said.
Also, “he gave predators a bad name” what an absolutely shit take lol I’m sorry but it is
@@loneshinobi2682 I cannot disagree more with your counter monologue. You've made up so much head canon here to explain a logic in most of these aspects. We have no in-movie idea that he's a different style Predator. We are given no information to state or confirm this is his first hunt or first time on earth. The fact you said this is the best movie since the original tells me everything. This was tied to or approaching the worst Predator movie with The Predator, only succeeding where that other piece of shit failed because it doesn't have a goofy Super Predator. But in it's place, it has this dumbo Predator who is sloppy and far too inefficient. If we didn't have the OG Predator to go on, this franchise would have never spawned sequels if it started with the Predator being this terrible at his career choice. It's the truth. The fact you have to make up and assert ten tonne of head-canon to mental math me on why he was a dreadful Predator just brings it all home.
I think a lot of people watching this movie missed the fact that the Predator's 'laugh' is just his recording of Billy laughing from earlier in the movie.
Predators mimic sounds . Its not a recording it is him mimicking. Clearly it has an understanding of humour from watching his prey . Know your enemy and such
Really? I think pretty much everyone realizes that. Especially because we hear it mimicking what the guys were saying in some scenes.
Eh since I was a kid after first watch it when I was like 9 I'm 35 now and thought that was how predator laughed lol
I had been knowing that was Billy's laugh and I've watched this movie since I was a kid.
He got the joke....it was because of the echo.....
Even though the Predator has no human facial expressions, he's still able to give a "Do I look like I'm that stupid?"
Love those subtle things in these kind of movies.
The beauty of Kevin Peter Hall being an excellent actor when portraying himself as the things he did. I think thats what so many of these costumed actors miss in the newer ones is these small nuances. They replicate them a lot. Nearly everyone who has portrayed a Predator has attempted them but KPH always nailed it and made it seem like a natural touch as opposed to a forced expression.

While this scene sounds like the Predator imitating Dutch, it's quite brilliant, Dutch is asking that question due to not being able to fathom the Predator's alien being, it's strength, it's skill, it's hunting prowess and even it's appearance, while the Predator sounds as if it's just mindlessly copying the question, it isn't, it recognises the question and asks it in turn, it's unable to fathom how Dutch, a human that is weaker than it in every way, was able to survive, battle and beat it, even when it was being cautious about the wily nature of humanity, something the Yautja have known about ever since they made landfall on earth and interacted with humans.

daustin8888 The one mistake the predator makes though is that they get over confident.
daustin8888 Yup, Arnold is like Batman and the Predator is like Bane.
I agree! The predator just picks him up with ONE arm and throws him around like a rag doll. I love how casual and leisurely the Predator stalks after Dutch when he’s trying to crawl away and lead him to the trap. almost like he’s saying, “haha where ya going little buddy? I’m not through playing yet.”
The predator always has a primitive one on one challenge with the toughest human, battering him to the ground then killing him with only blades.
The predator always liked competition. He wanted to kill Dutch like a Man.

0:50 The way the Predator walked towards Dutch with that look on his face was the scariest part for me in the movie back then
Man me too
Yes the predator had respect and nobility to him.
The one thing I loved about this movie rather than the others is because trying to beat the Predator in hand to hand combat is impossible. It shows that it has superior strength and technology. Dutch tried to whack him with a large stick and it broke it in half with just his arm blocking it and backhanded him and made him go flying. And when Dutch punches it in the face and it took no damage or stun from it. Dutch has to use the traps he set up earlier to kill it. I just love how they portrayed it as an ultimate killing machine that is very similar to the Xenomorph in Alien.
predator should be slow as shit cause theyre too big.
I know right? and with that it makes the predator hybridization thing with humans sound stupid in the new upcoming predator film, because predators are already stronger and smarter than us, and Dutch just made it with luck thanks to his trap, same with Harrigan, and Royce they all luckily survive, but other than that they had a pretty hard time killing 1 single predator, while 1 single predator was able to kill many dangerous people.

As I watched and realized how impossible it was to fight this thing, my adrenaline was surging. When i saw that Arnold decided to stay behind and fight it, I was screaming "Nooooooo! Go to the chopper, you idiot!" (on the inside). Then, as I watched Arnold prepare to fight and saw him hold up that torch and yell that war cry, I was paralyzed. But then, I heard the voice of God say "this is how I want YOU to face your fears, Susie." (I'm a Christian). Well, it was a light bulb moment and a turning point for me.
After that, I began to face all my fears head on. And I morphed ... I grew a backbone. But the best part was that facing all my fears made me realize there was never anything to be afraid of.
Very nice experience,
Sr tra s mint ref Sr me thin
I am a big fan of Predator
&
That also changed my life too
Because Predator is my favourite character in the whole world
&
Predator rules
Very powerful praise God !! Beautiful and wise
Oh boy.
That Billy’s laugh at the end its so creepily evil and cool all at the same time. All time classic movie...
“ I ain’t got time to bleed “ sickest line I’ve ever heard
“You got time to duck?”
love the predator's laugh. That, Arnold's howl, the nuclear blast, and any scene with Billy.
I suppose technically we don't know it's a nuclear blast as such, but still. Love the overkill for a suicide weapon.
dillons yell when he gets impaled by the wrist blades ties arnolds yell into the jungle. in my opinion.
This predator takes the term 'bad loser' to a whole nother level
Ya, he was pissed he lost to a mere human! Damn Predators! ;p
Dutch didn't give him a respectful death so he had to kill himself and make sure his body wasn't found..
They are like the samurai.
Since he lost in the battle he has to kill himself kinda sucks but its pretty cool preds do that
How? the predator accepted the challenge of hand to hand combat with Dutch, but Dutch couldn't handle the predator, he was too strong for Dutch, so he ran into his trap in order to kill the predator easily, which is kinda cheat, after falling into Dutch's trap he just knew he would die from the injuries, but he decide to at least activate the bomb to delete traces of his body.
The predator sees Dutch as a worthy opponent. So he takes his mask off
When I first saw this movie as a kid, the part where the Jungle Hunter took off his mask and showed his face terrified me for months!
That's awesome that you grew up with this movie though! 😁😉
@@krypton1982 Yeah his face doesn't scare me now.
KEVIN PETER HALL, EVERYBODY..LEGEND. The late great Kevin Peter Hall made this scene along with the music and sound effects..dude was a beast. KPH was also a black belt in multiple fighting styles. He really could beat the shit out of Arnie. A 7'3 black belt..Jesus Christ. 😨😨😨😨 Sadly, he died when he was just 36 years old in 1991..not too long after he played Predator in Predator 2. He got AIDS from a blood transfusion. RIP. LEGEND.
His Predator will never be topped..or even equaled. He made me think the Predator really was a badass alien and not just a guy in a suit..just with his movements, walking, acting, etc...straight up ART. He made it his own. He owns this role in both Predator and Predator 2. G.O.A.T. Predator and Big Foot (From Harry and the Hendersons)..SALUTE. RIP.
kevin peter hall is the helicopter pilot that says"what the fuck"right after the explosion.for the movie they wanted to put him in there somewhere without the predator suit on.because he did such a good job
And he very tall man..206cm...arnold and his member maybe 190cm....what the hell...we re gonna die
me 182cm...
@@marlonhectorvillarroelbust9622 I think he probably could have for AVP, AVP 2, and Predators 2010. He would have been in his late 40s to mid 50s in that stretch of years but the man stayed in great shape and probably would have aged well. It would just depend on if he stayed in great shape or not..I think he would have though.
He was very good in "Harry & the Henderson's" too and as a Boss Hogg henchman in the "dukes of hazzard" tv series.
It was Arnold's character Dutch who was ultimately the superior "Predator" here.
Arguably the Predator has to be the most unique species ever created. You could live for 2 life times and still wouldn't come up with such creativity. The fangs, dread locks, eyes, weaponry, camo, vision. To think of this shit is pure genius. Not to forget how great the cast and story is. Just a masterpiece of work here. I am so glad they changed that suit during production. The first design/suit they were going to use looked extremely preposterous. It wouldn't have been nowhere near as great as this film became.
And don’t forget the clicking of its fangs.
The classic ‘predator click’.
1:56 who else are upset about how much pain it sounded like Arny was in? Amazing acting, bro!
did anyone else peep that slap the predator gave dutch at the beginning lmao
Lashar Cunningham LOL, SLAPPED HIM LIKE HE WAS ONE OF HIS HOES SHORT IN MONEY
That monster back hand tho 😭😂💀
Damn near knocked my nigga out
@malik p He Backhanded The Predator and it Gave him a look like: Is That All You Got?!!!!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@janetcain3138 🤣
So epic. It just *feels* so real.
0:40 Fight starts.
The thing that made the Predator so cool and badass was that it wasn't just a mindless monster that killed indiscriminately. It had some sort of a code. It respected Dutch enough to face him in hand to hand combat, even though it knows it's superior to him physically
Genius Peter! How he removes a lid! Incredible performance by him Rest in Peace, Kevin.
More like rest in piss
Top 10 best movies ever

How the Hell does Dutch survive a point blank Nuke?
1:01 predator is all like.."Is that all you got?" lol
More like. Jungle Predator : Sorry your punching isn't to hurt me !
They should do a crossover movie..
Terminators vs Predators
Predator wins
Elier Melendez Hollywood would ruin it just like the 2018 reboot
They ruined both terminator and predator
I believe they made a comic book of it.
The Borg might have something to say about it
1:01 : Predator to Dutch: Really? that's the hardest you can punch? Lemme show you how I punch!
That monstrous roar from predator made my chest hair grew new chest hair
There are few movie moments that I will NEVER forget seeing them for the first time... The Predator taking his mask off is one of those times.
Dutch: "What the hell are you?!"
Predator: "wHaT tHe hElL aRe YoU"
Saw Predator with a couple of Army bro’s during AT liberty in ‘85... we left the theatre thoroughly impressed and watching this final sequence brings back good memories!
but Predator was released in '87. :P
+Dan LOL
Exposed
exposed
Dude look at the fucking title before you comment
2 legendary action movies of the 80s commando and predator
I laughed when the predator said "What the hell are you?" But when i saw Dutch is alive I respect him
This movie was waaaaaay ahead of its time, I would love to see it at the theatre today, I know every dialogue, must have watched it 1000 times by now 👍😎👍
The Predator's laugh always terrified me.
He was mimicking billys which i found out recently. So cool
So happy the current game expanded on Dutch’s character following this film, even getting Arnold’s likeness and voice. Say what you will about the game itself, but it’s been doing wonders for Predator lore.
Best film ever. I’ve watched it around 200 times lol
faxxxxx
Well I watch it 2001 times lol cracking movie
5:58 "Look, Chris" Resident Evil 1 (1998)
The animatronics and prosthetics in this movie are the best in the entire series imo, Stan Winston was the best master of FX and we all miss him and his work!!!!.....
God the predator for me is one of those characters that are the villains but you cant help but fan boy over them since there so cool
Love the dramatic song
One of the best aspects of this movie and this scene in particular was that in this circumstance, Arnie had to actually use his wits to win. In other movies, Arnie could use his physicality to triumph. But now, he is up against something that is his physical superior. That shot of when he punches the Predator right in the face and the Predator just shrugs it off demonstrated just how dominant a creature it is in comparison.
I love it when the Predator has dutch by the throat and examines his bone structure like
" shhhhhit I've got me a man here " and wants a fair one on one to test its ability 🤣 Predators are so badass
No one can remake this classic. So awesome.
The actor who played the Predator, Kevin Peter Hall, is also the helicopter pilot who says "what the?!"
The way anna looked at him at the end . Was both she felt bad and impressed for him.
I really want to see the T800 vs the wolf predator, anyone else?
2:58 after inspecting the branch like "You smart..."
At 2:51 his face touches the spike on the branch, that's when he stops to examine the branch
2:50
That "Bad idea" always gets me
