Hi everyone! What grade (out of 10) would you give this video?
It was like mad max but in the ocean
I've always really liked this movie, I was ten years old when I watched Waterworld for the first time and I've probably watched it at least a hundred times in the decades since. I really like how nearly the entire movie was shot with practical effects, aside from the CGI giant fish attack it is a movie that I would consider as timeless, to a first time viewer it would be hard to pin down when it was made if it weren't for that CGI fish attack.
But yeah, numbers, I think I'm going to give it a 9.5/10, with the CGI fish being the sole reason for the -.5, it just looks so awfully dated now, much like George Lucas's CGI edits of Star Wars in the 90's (I want the original, uncut, untouched theatrical release that is harder to find than a leprechaun's gold at midnight🙄), the CGI add-ons look so out of place and are not needed. Practical effects, including miniatures, are the best all the time, I'm sick of all the CGI in movies these days, producers are really overdoing it. Practical effects lend a serious sense of reality, where CGI can be spotted in a heartbeat and takes from the immersion, which in essence is a large role in my love for Waterworld, it makes it feel like a real and believable world (except for the damn fish lol).
9/10.
Your video is an 8/10,over all this movie was really good, better than Most MCU movies.
8.5/10 mad max is one of my fave older movies and this gives the same vibes.
This movie received a lot of negative press, but I really liked it. My dad took me to see this in theatres, and it was awesome.
That's why you like it. Keep this memory forever and don't let anyone say it was a bad movie.
pretty dumb though but entertaining
I agree, it is entertaining...
I saw it as a young kid in the 90s too, loved it aswell, still love it
@@jlmassirit wasn’t bad , it was awful
Mad max on water. Genius.
I've never thought of it that way. 100% accurate.
Sounds like a fan theory
Could be in same universe.
This was probably the pitch 😂
yes, it is old as world statement
I dont care what they say this movie owned
I liked it a LOT.
This was one of my favorite movies, think i wanted it more than any other movie
So underrated I love this movie
Lol
I don't care what the "critics" say, I love this movie. 9/10. Repeat viewings.
1. Good action scenes.
2. Good characters.
3. Good soundtrack.
4. Good special effects.
5. Good story.
Agree. Seen it many times since it came out. It was GOLD to see back then.
It never made sense to me why it got bad reviews, this was a great movie. Someone must have made enemies in the entertainment business...
It was an inventive and compelling story.
Agreed, I've always watched it when those very few chances happened over the years.
@@Nate-bn5kk At the time, it didn't get horrible reviews. It currently has 6 1/2 stars on Imdb which is less prejudice than Rotten Tomatoes. It just cost way too much to make compared to it's potential box office draw. Real effects aren't cheap and then there was the whole desert storm destroying the ship so they had to build it again.
i was in this movie when i was 8. i was one of the smoker kids reloading guns when dennis is walking to the car in the smoker ship
That sounds awesome
That so cool. I loved this movie as a kid!
That's impressive. Must have been nice.
😊
Where were you filming?
This was a great movie. It was full of adventure.
When I was little kid, we had only two VHS tapes at home: Water World and Shrek 2. I watched one of these movies almost every day, for years. I watched them so much I could play them in my memory, remembered every scene detail, every word from dialogues. Water World universe stuck very tightly to my imagination. When I was playing LEGO, building things in sandbox, or just running araund with a stick like kids do, it was Water World themed many, many times. This movie has special place in my heart, and I cannot watch any scene now without having tears of nostalgia in my eyes
Aliens and T2 for me. I've seen them so many times, they just start playing in my head, and I'll laugh at a line, and you're like "What hell is happening right now?"
Great flick! Watching it in a theater is a must. Great action, excellent costumes, but the music made the experience.
The opening scene is still one of my favorites in movie history
Loved this frkn movie. So many amazing scenes. Loved Costner in this ruthless role. So many cool features on his boat they reveal over time. The only thing I would've changed a bit would be to humanize his ship a bit more (he does already in a way, being possessive of it, but they could've went further with it).
They say it was one of the biggest flops ever, But I liked it a lot. It was different.
Yes, loved it!
It was a huge flop. It grossed $88m, putting it in 10th place in 1995 for box office earnings, but it's a flop because it was extraordinarily expensive and that $88m was only like 50% of it's filming budget, nevermind marketing and whatnot.
It was the first movie to cost $200+ million to make (bad weather via a hurricane, salt water corroding the props, weeks before film shooting could restart, etc) Also They didn't have green/ blue screen tech OR graphics like now.
Too bad a bunch of A-holes at the time couldn't appreciate a damn good movie, and one that was relevant.
back in the days u actually had to make good movie, now u can just manipulate media with promotional accounts
Thanks!
Vou morrer rir
“Nothing’s free in Waterworld.”
That guy thought those limes were free, but they cost him his life.
Critics don't know what they are talking about .. This movie is a unique treasure!
yaaaap.. at that time this movies beyond imagination, one of best movies i ever watch..
100%💀😲😲😋@@rezafahleviten
이영화가 명작입니다. 지금봐도 촌스럽지 않습니다
❤❤❤❤🎉great movie thank you for letting me watch such a great movie wish you all good health and peace 💪💪💪🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤
Great movie, Tina Margarino outstanding!😊
The Exon Valdez references were priceless
Ah yes, the catamaran: that most fearsome and fast vessel to scourge the seas.

Outrigger canoe similar to what is used in the Philippines
@@cyronjade8602 Polynesians did it first to my knowledge, maybe Chinese tho tbh
Love the movie, more entertaining than those movies nowadays.
This movie had an Indiana Jones vibe to it! Loved it when I was a kid!
Awesome movie. Really entertaining.
One of the most underrated films. It is a very very good movie.
It is a very good movie, just not appreciated at the time. It might be more appreciated after some island country disappears under water
@@stevenrobert8567 yeah, sure. And which island is disappearing so far?
@@roninkegawa1804 The Maldives are going going soon to be gone. Why don't you move there and take Trump with? Nice place to live I hear.
很好的一部片子,可惜生不逢时.......出来的太早了一些~!
This was my favorite movie watching with my dad since he was a big fan of these movie plus I went to universal studios and saw the show in 2002
One of the best movies
Brilliant film, I believe it was slagged off by the critics ?
Just like "The 13rd Warrior" or "13nd Warriors" (depending on your country), higly hated by the critics but also have a lof of fans. I read somewere that this was the last of those 90's super productions due the high amount of money the spend (producing and everthing) making those big sets. They only got 1/3 of what they spend and changed Hollywood forever aparently... Sad because even without any CGI or special effects they make you belive that Waterworld was real...
I remember hearing a good description of it at the time it came out: "not as bad as all the critics were saying it was, but not as good as its budget should have made it." Personally, I'd never call it "brilliant" but it was fun to watch.
This movie is a retahded cheese fest. Unfortunately, it’s not bad enough to be “so bad, it’s good”
Expensive
Underrated movie... Quite well done
This movie is one of my most favorite movies. It was amazing when it came out and still is today!!
Most Underrated MOVIE N THE WORLD!
It was one of the best movies
Mon film préféré ❤❤❤
This was actually a great movie
Un excellent film 🎥 🎥 🎥 🎥 🎥
I absolutely loved this film. I was really into this and mad max at the time. It can never be exaggerated how expensive this film cost to make 😅
Have this in vhs, laser disc and dvd. Anyone who complains about this movie didn’t get it
That lemon tree is more important than people think. Vitamin C deficiency would be massive killer on a water world.
No way the guy would just take the fruit and not the whole tree
is that when you get scurvey?
@@votpavel Yes. it's a devastating disease.
@@TemplarX2 And you need lemons, limes are useless
@@dmitripogosian5084 Most likely they were lemons, but people might not know that they had to wait for the fruits to ripen
Ah yes - "Dances with Fish"...
Lol....
I thought it was "sea of dreams"
Ужасно люблю этот фильм! Смотрела и буду смотреть ещё и ещё, до самой старости.
I liked this movie I own it and it's really good
This is my favorite movie. I think it's cause I'm from hawaii and was raised on the water. But the storyline as well is cool.
amazing movie!
Perbanyak video bosku ya aku udah folow terus
I love this film
pitch meeting is like---> Mad Max ....on a boat.
now that is a great movie scene. word
Film bagus sekali, tidak bosan untuk menonton nya kembali .
Dry land is not a myth. I've seen it. Kevin Costner. Waterworld. I don't know what the big fuss is about. I saw that movie nine times. It rules!
Can't wait until God flood the world again
This just popped into my feed out of nowhere...I saw this when I was a kid, I feel old now!!!
One of my top 10 movies
This was a great movie, regardless of the hate it gets.
a film from my youth 👍❤...10 at that time
Many year ago they had the live show at universal studios in Los Angeles I was there in a rare occasion where Dennis Hoper himself was there acting in the live water world show it was also are first time at Universal studios little did we know at that time how blessed we were to see a great actor perform live in the show based in one of the best movies ever.
When the guy in the fuel oil tank said Oh, Thank God when a flare was dropped down the hatch. If youve ever worked at a factory or other soul-crushing job, you can relate.
This! laughed my ass off at that scene. And when the long haired blonde guy finally got his chance to drive the car "I've always wanted to drive this MONSTA!"
Agrolandia
Its so funny how he has to get so close to his citrus plant to be certain the guy stole them 😂 good film btw
If the Great Movie didn’t have the music and maybe more dramatic Music, I think it would have been received better?
Critics and the general public hated 1982’s The Thing when it first released and now it’s a beloved classic. I can’t see why this can’t be beloved as well.
One of my favourite hidden gems
As Agent J would say..... "That was a good shot tho right?"
"Please, tell us why you thought little Tiffany had to die..."
Excellent movie
This movie is awesome.
Everything so quickly here really 🤞 hot 🔥🔥 movie 🎥 beautiful ♥️
the movie may not have been good, but damn the soundtrack was awesome!
It is simillar to Mad Max series it would be great if the would continue to release sequels to this movie it worts it😏
There definitely was some strong hostility toward the people who made this film back in the 90's, otherwise why would anyone dislike a good science-fiction like this?! Great film.
Gostaria de saber o nome desse filme não lembro mas
@@FranciscoOliveira-rr2ue Waterworld
for context, limes are valuable at sea because they are full of vitamin C, vitamin C deficiency at sea is known as "Scurvy", sailors valued these limes, that is why English sailors became known as "Limeys"...
still better then yellowstone season 5.
She's my Friend..💯❤️🙏🔔💖
Didnt know there was any best scenes in this movie. But 10 minutes worth....surely you jest.
лучший фильм! обязателен к просмотру и пересмотру. лучше многого фуфла которое сейчас снимают.
Great movie!
🤙🏽🤝🔥🔥👌video 🤝
I love this movie when I first saw it, and didn't know that it was considered a "bad" movie until I was much older.
This movie got everything, the open sea fantasy, the catchy music, and a great lead who is not your classic "hero" archetype.
One of my favourite movies. Remember Jack Black and the aeroplane pilot.
Фильм легенда😍😍😍
fascinating
Jack sparrow of the apocalypse lookin ah 😂😂😂
Movie of the century
the money Costner burned on that damn trimaran is out of the charts..
Planet with no earth Needs more water 💦😅
Favorite movie
This is the most ridiculous big budget movie ever, but still somehow good.
Mad Max on Water 😂😂😂
His acting is better here than it was for Yellowstone
Critics didn't like this movie but I loved it.
screw the critics, this is a great movie
Well back then people didn’t really understand the consequences of climate changes as well as today…
Mad Max: Fury of the Polar Ice
Love fim.
Nice to see jetski riders are the same in the future 😂
The directors of these films are really trying hard 🎉🎉
Full movie ❤❤❤
The most valuable trade item in waterworld is dirt, " pure dirt "
