I like how they gave this xenomorph (Grid) a character. Since he kills both Predators and is seen many times in the movie, rather than just making them a bunch of random xenomorphs indistinguishable from each other.

Idc what anyone says this movie will always be iconic. My dad showed me both predator and the aliens movies as a kid. I can remember saying on more then one occasion “I wish they’d combine the two and have like a predator Vs Alien movie” never forget the day me and my dad saw the commercial for this movie I freaked out.

@@joereilly8890 oh yea totally there was an amazing arcade game also available on PC years before, that's where the idea came from. Awesome games both and the movie is not that terrible, I consider myself a hardcore Alien fan and still feel fine with this.
Me and my friends used to play AvP in the playground as kids. We'd split into 2 teams and just start chasing each other around like maniacs. Kinda cringe to talk about but it was too much fun back then
I think this shows the difference between the two species very well. The Yautja are incredibly warriors but their skills are for the most part learned. They do have some heightened senses and physical attributes but overall they have to learn to be a hunter. Meanwhile the Alien emerges extremely deadly and has the capacity to learn but also is driven largely by instinct. The Predators are taking their time savoring the kill because they are new to this and so they don't even notice the deadliest thing in the room that sneaks up on one of them to systematically begin wiping out the biggest threats to the hive.

The xenomorphs are genetically engineered to do one thing. To be the perfect killing machine. And while the Yautja are supreme hunters, just like humans they're prone to making mistakes. And as we saw here that's what Celtic did to get himself killed. He should have killed grid as quickly as he had the chance but within the time of him savoring his potential kill the acid chewed right through that net and we'll...we saw what happened next

This is the best scene imo. Two predators reeking havoc and then comes a Xeno single handedly taking them both out. Badass scene.
I'm for Team Predator, and this scene broke my heart lol but none the less still was a cool scene for an under rated movie imho
@@martinmartinez3860 Yeah likewise, it always angered me, because in the books and graphic novels that predate this movie, I am sure the predators were taking on 6 aliens at once without their plasma caster. Then when it came to the predator and one human taking on the alien Queen, that should have been six predators on one.

I honestly liked the Xeno aka Grid killing the Predators, it really showcases how just one Xeno is dangerous on it own. But I do agree that the two Predators were killed too fast though.

Keep in mind that this was considered a trial. That's the only reason the xeno killed 2 predators. The predators were young inexperienced and by the predators standards, weak. There is a reason the preds made this task.
They also made a lot of mistakes. They focused on humans to much, the first to die didn’t pay attention to his surroundings even though he probably knew Xenos are crafty and sneaky, and the other big one was focused on fighting and brawling instead of actually hunting. He beat up a human earlier in the movie instead of killing him.
then 1 Predalien massacred veteran Predators in their ship.

The PA snuck up on them, though, and had the edge. Plus it can hold onto walls and such, so it would’ve had the edge when the ship crashed back on Earth. So I’m not sure that altercation was a fair indication of how 3-4 more experienced Predators would handle a PA.
Either way, predators are pathetic compared to the all powerful Xenomorph! This Xenomorph was only an hour or so fully grown & still wiped out two fully matured & trained predators, who I’m sure lived a lot longer than an hour, but in the end their efforts were futile! Perfect Organism 🦂🤘🏾🔥🔥🔥
While the quality of the movie itself may not be up to the standards of either the Alien or Predator series, seeing these two finally come face to face in this scene was incredibly chilling, especially experiencing it in theatres. Yeah, it may not make a whole lot of sense, but this whole sequence almost single-handedly justifies this movie.

AvP 2 (2001) on PC is probably the best AvP media there is. I'd recommend checking it out in some capacity

This film is underrated, I love the build up to the two iconic monsters facing each other and the whole pyramid storyline was unique and refreshing in my opinion!
I never liked the progression of the stories for either Aliens or Predator, but especially Aliens. In the first movie they were this completely unknown creature, and it was creepy. Then, as so often happen when things become franchises, it turns into "Oh well we'd actually encountered them many times before and everyone just kind of conveniently never spoke about it. A lot of the appeal was lost.
If this had more well known actors. It could have been better. Also it should have been R-Rated then a PG-13.

Alien senses are truly unreal. Notice how fast it went into prep mode even from a mere glance it perceived from the second Predator. And the best part is it didn't fuck around with the body to look cool, it just tossed it aside the moment it perceived the killing intent from the other and got right back to work. Also love how the young Predator was like "fuck this, I'm going to bull rush and WWF this bastard into walls"
Yeah the second one only got fucked because of his vanity and cockiness, he took a few seconds to do a badass slow walk and then savor the kill instead of quickly dispatching the Alien when it was incapacitated.

One group is completely singular minded and doesn't care about anything except survival, killing and the good of the hive whereas the other has more personal emotions attached to things. @@Arbaal Sorry for necroposting, but Xenomorphs don't really care for their survival. In fact, a lot of Xenomorphs would purposely get themselves killed for the sake of their hive.
Edit: So Chopper (The first Predator) was focused more on the humans than his mission to hunt Xenos. Technically they all did, my only guess is that these predators heard about their kin being killed more often by modern humans so they were extremely cautious. But anyway chopper focused on the humans and in trying to hunt them and get his plasma cannon, the Xeno (Grid) stabbed him in the back. He wasn’t paying attention to his surroundings like a good hunter should. Animals use their surroundings to their advantage and the Xeno was high up in the dark.
Celtic- so he is very large and strong. I’m guessing more than average for even a Predator. He was badass but he had one flaw. He loves hand to hand combat. He’s more of a Brawler than a hunter. Earlier in the movie he beats up a human rather than just killing him. The human was weak/beat up enough for a quick kill but Grid was not. Xenos are tough, crafty, and sneaky. Celtic whooped grids ass rather epically but he then caught grid in a net. Thinking grid was weak and hurt enough for a quick kill. I personally believe Grid did a possum act, where it looked like the only move he had left was a jump from a high place, then made it look like he was all weak and helpless until his blood cut through the net for a surprise ambush. Celtic got cocky and didn’t think correctly. Also you should never go towards the end with teeth on a trapped animal. Everyone knows that.
Scar- he was a great hunter but he did one thing wrong. He marked himself to soon. As soon as he killed the Xenos he felt he achieved his goal and he deserved the mark and respect, killing a Xeno brings. But as he was marking himself, his face as exposed to a face hugger. If he had waited until he was sure all Xenos were dead, he would’ve won. Probably would’ve killed the queen with no issue.
Predators aren’t invincible and these were young and barely experienced. They made mistakes even human hunters make. It is no surprise to me that they died very quickly.
@Dominik Rain Well, they are young bloods (teenagers on the first rite of passage to be full blooded warriors) and this is their first xenomorph hunt, so I don’t expect them to be taken them down like Wolf did in AVP:R since he was a blooded veteran hunter.
@Dominik Rain avp 2 showed us how good a well trained predator is...Wolf predator killed double-digit aliens easily and effectively.

@@alfa-psi I admit the predators are strong and advanced but I’m not surprised how easy they died because they did not pay attention or set their priorities correctly. If I was them I would’ve set some traps and slowly make my way towards the humans with my guns because the Xenos will most likely go after them first. Then when a xeno is distracted I could kill it and get that shoulder cannon at the same time. I honestly can see all the mistakes they made. But I’m not saying they are weak or anything they are just honest mistakes. Everyone just gotta stop saying they so badass and almost invincible you know? Plus these predators were young bloods. Experienced to a point but not expert killers.

Until they get smashed through a wall by a linebacker sized predator, the only reason the xenomorphs work is by numbers, besides that they really don't got nothing going, a bullet will kill them easily so idk about the "strongest animal in the universe" theory, I would say the predators are definitely way more stronger
The only reason these two lost is because they're young, look at scar in the next movie, he cuts through them like butter, only the predalien could see him and that's cause it's half predator

My favourite scene in the entire movie; was worth the price of admission. The tension, the music, seeing something blood curdling for the first time...whatever that went through Lex's mind was potrayed by the music.
I absolutely love this battle and how it depicts xenomorphs with the ferocity and strength they truly have. So many fans act like xenos are just bugs, forgetting that one alone is still a near perfect killing machine. They're not overpowered at all here: this is their true power.
What I loved about this movie is that in all of their separate movies, people are running from them.
It was nice to see these iconic beasts with an opponent who isn't afraid to attack head on.

I loved the badass fight scene but Celtic was focused on whooping grids ass than actually hunting him. My best guess is that Celtic is very strong and enjoys hand to hand combat as evidence of him beating up a human earlier in the movie, and after he beat up grid, Celtic assumed he was weak enough for a quick knife kill. But Xenomorphs are resilient and smart. I believe grid made it look like he was hurt badly and lured Celtic in for one fell swoop to kill him.
Good point, but I think it was just the timing. Grid wouldn’t likely endure extra pain from that net to lure Celtic a few feet closer. He just broke out when he did due to his blood finally melting the net and Celtic didn’t react quickly enough. They’re smart, sure, but the Xenos aren’t very smart. Perhaps if he still had a spear Celtic would’ve survived here.
At least, Disney bought the license of Alien & Predator franchise.

@@Atomic_Mayhem21 It's not merely killing the xenomorphs. It's HOW they kill them that is more important. Because of their warrior culture, there is more glory in victory in hand-to-hand combat, then next would be with melee weapons, and finally no glory in using their ranged laser weapons.
This Alien literally killed 2 predators, pure badass.

Yet magically the Alien's flesh-like body doesn't melt, but it's acid blood melts through steel, the netting (which broke a knife blade earlier in the clip) and Alien can get thrown through walls with no armor and it is magically okay.

This scene seemed incredible to me the first time I saw it, a Xenomorph killing 2 Predators was something I never expected, also, the soundtrack is great when the Xenomorph arrives to kill the first one, you have to take into account that the first Predator was distracted and the second only focused on fighting and not killing, I was confident, that Xenomorph in the end remained an elite among the others, and he was recognized by that net mark that was left on him, but he ended up dying just like everyone else, The third Predator was the best since it managed to kill many Xenomorphs, I always liked this movie, a legendary crossover of iconic bloodthirsty aliens.
I just love how one single xenomorph was able to defeat two of the three predators in the movie. The creature was treated with much more respect than the sequel.
I feel like this is why the Xenomorphs were considered by the Predators the perfect prey to test their strength. In a group they can put up a great fight, the Predators that is, and straped up even better. The last stand at the pyramid in the vision showed that. And the 1v1 in that same vision showed why just 1 Alien was needed for a trail. This movie needs a reboot I miss it so much.
They’re the “perfect” prey for educational purposes. Ultimately, the pick the xenomorph first and the human later.
I may not have liked the design this film used for the Alien, but in terms of how the creatures were portrayed I think this movie did pretty decently compared to the various comics, novels and video games. This is a far cry from the generic space bugs that die easily en-masse in the comics; this is much closer to how the Perfect Organism should be portrayed. One Alien alone is capable of taking out two Predators by itself.
That is a good opinion. Even Aliens makes the xenomorphs a bit too weak in my opinion (though it makes more sense since they have explosive bullets, it would be a bit much if they could survive that)

The effects still look AMAZING to this day, not like a game cutscene like some other films at this time (or now, really). I actually like this movie; it had an interesting premise. The only thing I dislike is that it's inexplicably PG-13. Whichever executives came up with that ridiculous idea were altogether wrong. In any case, the characters were okay to likeable, the concept was interesting, and the way the fight scenes were choreographed /shot and the effects were incredible.
What does PG-13 have to do with anything? Over the top gore and language doesnt add anything, if anything it takes away from the story in general. Hence Requiem was terrible.
Honestly, the gore and body horror is what made these two monster franchise so infamous. Only plus side of this movie being PG-13 is when my kids are teenagers I can introduce them to some of my favorite sci-fi franchises.

Honestly Celtic had like so many opportunities to kill Grid but he was to cocky and that lead to to his death
I think thats been the downfall of the Predator in almost every movie. It always underestimates its prey.
He kept like beating up on it to prove he’s like “Top Dog” but he got super arrogant thinking grid was weak enough for a quick knife kill.
In hot toys version of Celtic Predator, there was statue of him after success killing Grid.
Grid got his ass kicked in hand to hand combat but won the battle.
I don’t think the honor-bound aspect applies all so much, though. They have to kill a Xeno at some point. If they die before then, then no honorable kill. So sometimes it’s better to just acknowledge that you’ll get that special kill later and that right now you just have to survive.

This fight scene is way better than the Freddy vs. Jason Fight Scene. Its Darker, more Intense, Detailed, and has good CGI.

It wasn't as good as Predator and Predator 2 but it was still enjoyable. I just didn't like that it takes place in a confined place like a pyramid, and the way half the people are killed by the aliens so quickly and without a fight. It was far better than Requiem and The Predator.

I can see why hunting Xenomorphs is such a crucial rite of passage among Yautja, even one Xenomorph is very lethal and only the most tenacious and strongest Yautja make it out alive. It's no wonder the Yautja sent Wolf, a highly trained veteran to put down the infestation in Colorado.

It sounds like you're referring to a hypothetical battle between a grid and a wolf. In reality, wolves are agile predators, so the grid would likely not stand a chance in a confrontation.
I do appreciate how they made the Xenomorphs in this movie very difficult to kill, maybe not for more experienced yauja, but strong enough to properly take out two predators (yes who were still young), were very capable of doing damage, I just like how it's not too overpowering for each species but only for this movie. As AVPR came it really showed more at how much better an elite yauja is.

I consider the xenomorph to be scarier than the predators, because the predators do have ethics, a code, and a society: if you're not a threat, it probably won't come for you, but the xeno will not think twice.
Predators can be reasoned with, at least. The Xeno will either kill you or turn you into an incubator.

I like the detail that when the predator loses track of the xenomorph, the first thing he does is look up. Since that's is how the aliens ambush a lot of people.
This scene is really cool. I will say though, to people that think this means alien>predator, Grid didn't exactly "singlehandedly kill two predators". Chopper got snuck up on, and Celtic, if you analyzed the fight, was definitely more than the xenomorphs match. He got knocked over by the tail do to his inexperience at 2:50, but aside from that he was definately in control of the fight. The reason he lost is specifically because he didnt seem to expect/realize that the xenomorph's blood was going to burn through his net, which is why he didn't immediately jab his knife into its face (Again, because he was an inexperienced teen.)

It's part of the Predator culture to hunt like that. Yeah they could destroy the aliens if they really wanted too, but they choose to hunt them. They see the Xenomorphs as ultimate prey. To them it's sport.
Think of Humans hunting bears, or deer or hogs. It's sport to us, and more often then not we keep antlers hides and whatnot. Yeah we use guns, but there are hunters who still use spears and bows just because.
This predator was a cocky young blood, these 3 preds came down here to be blooded, and this is their first encounter with the xeno, a xeno is a xeno always, they exist only to kill and serve the hive.

That's the mark of a good movie. There's no such thing in Prometheus and neither is in Alien covenant. Their music is decent but fails to mark dramatic moments.

The main problem with Covenant at least was the characters in my opinion. They weren't very smart or memorable. David was the only character I consider great

He wants to wipe out all the races throughout the entire galaxy! He killed Shaw, remember that? And he also placed the facehugger embryos with the human embryos. And I wonder how will he make Mother Queen along the way. We saw two. One in AVP, and another in Aliens. Ridley Scott is in his 80’s now, but this trilogy, David’s arc, needs a closure, all done by him. Also, footage in Covenant has been cut left on the cutting room floor that needs to be seen in the light of day in some shape or form; whether if it’s on streaming or rerelease of the film. And I’m not sure if James Cameron will direct this one, while he’s doing the Avatar sequels, maybe want to take the scheduling conflicts slow and easy. He directed Aliens. That’s the best one, alongside the first. So I don’t know how this one is going to turn out for us. Time will tell.

The action scene is good and the start to it, with the invisible Predator getting impaled and lifted up by the Xenomorph’s tail, is absolutely iconic.
I just think the three Predators getting taken down to one so quickly, and by the same Xenomorph no less, makes the incredible bad-assery of the third one a much harder sell. It reminds me of the joke of the “law of inverse ninjas,” where the more there are the less skilled they are individually until the last one is practically unbeatable. It’s not a deal-breaker for me, but I do think it was a missed opportunity/wasted potential.
I think it would have worked better to give the Predators more time to shine, maybe see them working as a group or even working against one another, like one or two get their kills and start behaving arrogant and cocky, trying to out-do the others which could be what gets them killed. Could be a chance to give the Predators personalities and to showcase how just because you’ve killed ONE Xenomorph and gotten your trophy doesn’t mean the game is over; you still have to get out alive.
All that said… this movie does have some bad-ass action sequences 😁👍

The personalities of each Yautja brothers sent to this hunt really do stand out if you pay attention enough;
Chopper had the more high risk, high reward mentality of the three, throwing caution to the wind before he was ambushed and slain by Grid.
Celtic, the more beefier of the three, was the Yautja who relied more on his natural brute physical strength, so he was more overconfident, egotistical, and quick to anger, which led to his underestimation during his attempt to avenge his brother's death, resulting in his own.
And Scar was the youngest and the smartest between the three, relying more on his cunning than everything else, as well as being the only Yautja to have succeeded in his hunt prior to leaving the Pyramid and suffering fatal injuries during his battle with the Xenomorph Queen.
this movie received a lot of hate and admittedly i at first was very dubious given its PG-13 rating, but ultimately it actually has some of the coolest xenomorph scenes on film

Xenomorphs can detect prey by the electric signals emanated from the body like sharks do (since they have no eyes or sense of smell) hence why it's so hard to hide from them.

I love this scene! When you watch behind the scenes on the Dvd, they said this fight scene took a month to film. After it was all done and put together they said it was worth taking that long.

Every time I'm in a fight, I try to start one in a place full of pillars in hopes of one day re-enacting this scene !!
The film itself will never win any awards for being the best of Alien or Predator franchises...but that moment when the two come face to face for the first time was well built up, and amazing to see.
