    Great help. Waiting for my new Throttle Body from the U.K. as none available in Australia. Also fitted a shield that bolts under the ECU to protect it from the engine heat; Thanks for your help, ( always needed ). I hope my results are as successful as yours. Best regards. Colin.

      @@4kays160 Yes, it was quite an easy job, I also fitted the ECU insulator which helps keep it cool. Never had any problems until a week ago when I got a (check engine light) which I solved with my reader! But overall the car has been giving better mileage and never fails to start. I hope that helps?

      @@4kays160 Make sure that you buy a genuine Saab part. Sometimes you are shipped parts supposedly genuine but are actually Chinese and they dont do so well! I’m in Mission Beach, where are you located, as there is a supplier in Melbourne and one in Perth, I believe a couple of suppliers have retired recently! That’s why I sent to the U.K. because if they don’t have a part in stock, they have it sent over from Sweden and are always super helpful.

    I own a 2016 genesis coupe 3.8. I recently installed a true cold air intake. The car drives completely fine under normal circumstances, but when I downshift and try to wide open throttle above 3500rpms, the car goes into limp mode and throws this exact code. Did the increase in air break my throttle body? Car drove completely fine before the installation.

    On the old TB, notice the hollow region at bottom with the knife thin mating face at throttle bore wall to gasket? The throttle you removed was for a naturally aspirated engine, not the version made for a turbocharged engine.
    The turbo version has a thick gasket mating surface right at the throttle bore wall, same as around the other mounting gasket interface areas.

    • @caractacusbrittania7442
      @caractacusbrittania7442 4 месяца назад

      Saab did not make a naturally aspirated 93 NG.....
      They were all turbo, including the v6, the tid and the ttid diesels.

      @Blake4Truth 4 месяца назад

      @@caractacusbrittania7442 Regardless, that throttle body that you show is for naturally aspirated engines. Chevy Malibu and others use it. That’s not a Saab 9-3 OEM TB.

    Hey brotha , so I have the same issue. I usually clear the code and run it but has been running rough. I have changed the Throttle body 2 times and no luck… I have read on forums it’s because some connector H42-2 that need to be re pinned (which I don’t now how to do) and to be cleaned i guess. I think the connector is under the battery and I tried to clean it and hook back up but still having the same issue …

    Did it feel like a bad head gasket when you were having these shuttering and poor symptoms with performance? I have the same code and it has old gas in it, so it could be a bad throttle body but my first concern was bad head gasket. Has the repair been good since the publish? Thanks!

    • @ColinPrince

      Hi, I’ve had no problems with p0638. My code is front bank throttle, I can’t remember the number, even though I’ve seen it 100 times. I would recommend changing the Throttle Body, but genuine Saab parts, trust me, I tried two aftermarket units and literally dumped them, a total loss!

    • @4kays160
      @4kays160 8 месяцев назад

      I have this exact code, p0638 is a code for connector H2 something under the battery box its a multi pin plug, ive been told to clean out that connector really good and plug it back in , and follow the wiring both ways back from the plug to make sure there not rotted or coroded or pulled out of a plug end or shorting out first.. i have a proper code reader scanner and code eraser obd2 handtool and p0638 is the code im getting too, if you google that code, it tells you its the connector im talking about, so i have a feeling people replacing multiple throttle bodys might have had dodgy wiring and the voltage difference was the wiring leak or plug resistance, so id suggest checking that plug and clean it up, clean all the pins inside good, then check the wires are good still, clear all your codes in the car, and try and see if its fixed or not, before getting a throttle body.. ive heard of the wiring being brittle from heat and swapping out that loom section fixed it...

    • @ColinPrince
      @ColinPrince 8 месяцев назад

      @@4kays160 The one thing that you’ve already learned is that a problem with a Saab that shows up on a reader can be totally unrelated to the problem. They seem to have a number of connections wired up to the same wiring loom connector. This gives you a false reading on the code reader. I’ve had a couple of issues that are related to a part of the car that proves to be unrelated to the real issue and unless you are aware of the relationship, you can be working on a problem that doesn’t need fixing, I recently went through an issue where that was the case, but I’ll definitely take a peek under the battery and see if I have a build up of dirt that could be the cause of all of my problems!
      Thanks so much for the heads up. Colin.

      @@ColinPrince yeah no worries, its actuall common on alot of cars to send a fault up a loom earth and the electrics go haywire.. i was more saying to the other guy who was asking about his code p0638, as thats my exact code too, and ive gone into the saab error codes and its saying its that connection, and it also says that when that messes up or has a split that could be the voltage difference trigger the throttle body to move out of range ... i reset my codes, and turned of limp mode , and it hasnt done it again my throttle is acting fine now, but i still have the code come back the car just drives fine? And i had a look earlier next to my battery box, and i could see weird wiring straight away that looks like speaker cable and all sorts under my battery box, and my headlights have some strange dodgy wiring on them too.. so with any luck if i rewire it all to factory thats hopefully what is triggering that fault code?.. if not well ill look for a throttle body, likely call the place at Melbourne you recomended..
