    Always straight to the point without a few minutes stumbling around the topic. That's why you're the best on RUclips! And the little clips adding comic relief were on point! Awesome video Kev and very informative! Thank you for the tip! Got 1 guy healing up now. For sure going to use this technique when he's ready to go back to my main tank!

      @@TheStinkinglincoln Stress is much better than getting killed when adding a single fish. I have a 20 gallon QT tank and have only once ever had an issue with multiple fish in there. Furthermore with everything going on in the world why be negative and try to bring someone down? If you don't like something and it's not for you, just don't comment. Move on and be miserable by yourself. No need to bash others or be a dick. This is a community. Be nice and support or keep your mouth shut and move on. Everyone is here for hobby which is fun and stress relieving. Hope you change your attitude towards others and have a nice night.

    A big water change when adding just one fish or just when adding new fish helps alot. They don’t even notice most of the time. I learned that from one of your videos

    • @KaveManAquatics
      @KaveManAquatics  2 года назад +2

      That is the preferred method to adding fish. Always more than 1, and with a water change. But this is for those that want to add JUST 1. Sometimes the water change method isnt enough and the 1 guy can get bullied and end up dead. Like I said, it could work, it might work...but the chance of a dead new fish are much greater, imo

    Nice video. Yeah I have 19 African cichlids currently in my 75 gallon tank and they are getting along just fine even though the last batch I got were one inch smaller than the first batch. I was worried that there was going to be aggression they werent the same size but everything turned out great. I have four filters on my tank for good filtration and been adding stability to help build more beneficial bacteria

    Ive found also when i add just one, because like you said we all see that one we gotta have, is to leave lights off when getting ready to feed (make sure theres enough food for everyone to be distracted) and then same time you put food in the tank, place your new guy in there also. Its worked 3x for me.
    Fish are too busy stuffing their faces to notice the new guy. Ive done your method also and it works.

    You are absolutely right for the tricks you have to make but the fish are so unpredictable! I did that drill you are discussed a thousand times at the past. But the last time I did it , adding four fish from the carantine tank all hell broke loose. One of the fish was so bitten in only two days I had to rescue it again and put it again in the carantine tank! To save his life! If I was a few hours late that fish wouldn't exist. It was not the smallest of the four actually it was the bigger and almost fully coloured. My big cherry OB started the chace the first day and the other fish of the tank followed the second day almost ignoring the other three fish! The first time that happens to me! I even introduced one fish only in many occasions with out having any issues. This time I was stunned about what happened! Kev please I want your thoughts about that, thank you in advance.

    • @KaveManAquatics
      @KaveManAquatics  2 года назад +2

      Doesnt surprise me, nothing in this hobby is text book...and what worked once might not work the second time. This is because every tank, species and even the individual fish are all different. You never know what can cause what. This method is something ive used before with high success. Ive lost fish in the past by just adding 1 and sometimes I didnt. But when you do get that 1 fish you really want to make sure you dont lose, this method is your best bet.

    I have added 1 fish at one time before and I do agree it's a big risk but I have one tip that seems to work for me. The fish you get has to be a bit bigger than ur other ones. They still pick on him but not as much. I use this method for a few of my fish and they are all great. Now if you have a tank with full size or close to full size, then I'd use this method.
    Thx KAVEMAN for the tips! 😃👍

    Kev, I have a problem. And that is I don't have any problem. I mean, I added some fish to my new tank WITHOUT CYCLING IT, I had to completely clean my tank due to a high ammonia level (and sadly 6 fishes died in just 2 days and I had to quarantine the rest) and had to restart.
    Although I don't know the water chemistry of my tank, due to lack of test kits, there is no sign of high nitrate level and the water isn't cloudy. I have some live plants in my tank for the zebra juveniles to hide and an underground filter. So what is going on in my tank?

    • @KaveManAquatics
      @KaveManAquatics  2 года назад

      Theres no way you can see signs of high nitrate levels without a test kit. Whats going on in your tank is it still isnt cycled. Watch this - ruclips.net/video/9Cuqylaak3E/видео.html

    • @KaveManAquatics
      @KaveManAquatics  2 года назад

      Happens bro...hierarchy shifts and they attack the weak fish. He should stay separated until fully recovered, healthy and confident, then he can be added back in with more fish. Either more new fish, or use this method

  • @markvarites510
    @markvarites510 2 года назад

    Another awesome video as always ..I just set up my 55 gallon African Cich tank last Saturday ..exactly 1 week…I have 10 Cichlids all around 1” …do you think I’m safe adding a couple more pairs without having to quarantine?….or is the Hierarchy already established that quickly?…also there is no way these little babies are eating another fish …yet

    • @KaveManAquatics
      @KaveManAquatics  2 года назад

      The issue wouldn't be about them attacking each other...yet. the concern is adding disease to your tank from new fish. But since your tank is fairly new, yes you can add them right in and just treat the entire tank with something like General cure to eliminate the most common diseases from all the fish together.

    How many fish to add in a tank . Many suggest 1 inch per gallon rule . But your tank doesn't seems to follow that rule 😀

    • @KaveManAquatics
      @KaveManAquatics  2 года назад

      That rule is very general. With African Cichlids the tank is overstocked by design. You can always keep more than 1" per gallon but your filtration has to coincide with the increase in fish.
