- Adding New African Cichlids to tank can be a disaster if not done right. African Cichlids have a hierarchy in the tank and if not done properly your new fish can quickly fall victim to the others aggression.

When you do your water change I notice you put the Prime in the tank before adding the water, I thought you were suppose to de-chlorinate the water first before adding it into the tank.
Man that 210 is a gorgeous tank!
Thank you bro 😁
Beautiful video ❤️👍😃
Bro this is what from you! Fantastic videos, updated and gorgeous tanks and specimens of beautiful fishy friends. Love it! Absolutely love it! And the 210 looks amazing! So well done and keep those videos coming! Let’s go! God bless you.
Thank you bro, appreciate that! 😊
Perfect way to get Saturday going. A giant cup of coffee and watching Kev add to the population of that awesome 210. Now on to a quick water change and some hardscaping of my own. Thanks for educating, motivating, and kicking off the weekend Kev!!! Let's Gooo!!!!
Anytime brother! 😁💪
I can watch your videos all day!! Thanks for the helpful tips, I just added some new guys in my grow out tank to my big tank as well, exciting times!
Hands down I learn so much everytime I watch your videos thank you so much!
I can't get over how beautiful your tanks are so clean just gorgeous
Thank you so much 😀
Man that's a beautiful tank
I appreciate you and you are in inspiration I have a fish channel to but I get no views very disheartening I love watching your channel grow you are awesome bro and have made sense in a lot of different things you do god has blessed you my friend it shows in all your videos tank on and ✌🏻
I have 2 African cichlid tanks your page has helped me tremendously I started with 2 tanks 20 fishes 4 months ago an only lost 3 fishes due to bullying I believe your breakdown on all the products is amazing thanks so much brother keep it up 🇩🇴🇵🇷🇺🇸🙏💪💯🐠much blessing
What can I say I’m speechless 😶 for watching u so long I learned a lot and I appreciate it thanks 🙏
Thank you my bro 😁💪
There’s nothing better to watch at 1am !
Much love from down under 🤙🏼
Awesome bro! Glad you enjoyed it 😁
Your rock formations are awesome man, everytime I look at your vids I try something new
The formations are cool but it’s actually a polostyreen background
Another great video 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Hey Kav! Absolutely great information! I was given a whole tank (50 gal) set up over a year ago & kept it storage. I always had fish when I was kid (70’s), none of the great products they have today! Lol My cousin built my filters & we did old school tank cycling. I don’t know how I kept them alive! 😬😂 Doing research I fell down a rabbit hole & came across your channel. You are thorough and straight up. I was interested in cichlids and after watching a lot of your vids - freshwater tank and cichlids it is. I’m starting out with 4 African and a rescued plecos. So far so good just dealt with an ammonia spike & grateful for your vid on that! Please keep up the Great work!
Tank is looking so 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thank you my bro! 💪💪
Great insight as always Kev. Top job.
Thank you Tony! 😁💪

Great vid Kev! You're tank is amazing excited for the next video
Thanks 👍
WOE!! Absolutely gorgeous Kaveman😍 as always thank you for everything you do and share!! Your channel is amazing and it's so helpful!! You're always on point with the advice you give to us!! I truly appreciate you! 💯🌿🐟🌿❤️
Thank you Mary!, So glad you enjoyed the video! 😁
Great content as always
Glad you think so!
beautiful and colorful..😍
Thanks for your videos. Much appreciated. I have a 250 African tank. Mixed species. So far so good. Noticed you have 3 Fx6 running your 210. Might have to add one more. Your water clarity is amazing.
I used to have 3, as 1 of them was just a polishing filter. I now only run 2 and water is always crystal clear 😊 If you're having issues with cloudy water get my book before adding another filter. It will definitely be helpful! and much cheaper lol - bit.ly/clearH2O
Got A Couple Of Words For U Kev🤬 U Are The F’em BEST!! Keep Them Vids Coming!! I got back in this with a 25 year hiatus.. Bruh Learned So Much With Your Tutorials!!💪🏾🙏🏽♥️
😆 Thanks bro! Glad you're enjoying the channel!
Dig how you give us a bit of everything throughout the week content wise that 210 is looking epic bud keep up the greatness and as always stay up and blessed
Thanks! Will do! 😊💪
I only got one question how do you know that the adding of the new ones might not reduce the oxygen in the water I know bioload wise you'd check spikes etc... But I have always been noid about adding fish like my 75 gallon only has 2 lemons 3 clown loaches and a couple snails
@@juniorlovell2833 Well, my tanks are always OVER oxygenated. So doesn’t really matter how many fish I add, there’s always plenty of oxygen 😁
Your tanks are beautiful bro. I'm working on upgrading my tanks but i know it takes a bit of doing to get there.
your 210 is beautiful. I am looking forward to upgrading.
Great video thanks for the info
My pleasure 😁
I like when you sir say let's go . So kind ...
😁 Thanks
Hey Kev, Could u please make some more videos of your South American tank pls!!😊
Keep up the good work!!!
Absolutely, will do!
Thank you Kev!!!😊👍
Your 210 rules!!! I just put lake salt in my tank like u do i dont premix it cuz it doesnt stir well it just clumps up then dissolves
Nice video😃👍
Thanks for this. I am glad you mentioned the Malawi salt and the trace (why and when to add it). I was wondering.
I just got my 3 cichlids from snake river my taiwan reef ob, ndiwie fire hap and blue dragon blood no color yet but I can’t wait
We did this when we added 7 mbunas to our peacock tank. Everyone gets along fine. The mbunas quickly set about giving us some fry. Of course they went into their own tank.
I really enjoy your videos. I wanted to introduce a new Electric blue Jack Dempsey into my bigger tank that has 5 black JDs already and I want a maximum of 6 fish. The electric blue is smallest so I may reconsider when it’s bigger.
Very good and educational like always
Thanks, Glad you found it helpful!
Just subscribed great content just wondering if you let me know if the tank I have is setup correctly ?
Clown loaches are really incredible fish ❤️😍👍
I swear i saw you on the bronx zoo show. Keep doing your thing player.
I wish I could show you how clear my water is!! Thanks for all the tips Kev!
Awesome!! 😁💪
Mannn.. After coming across your channel the last couple of days... Im dying to upgrade 🤣🤣
Currently have 2 120 litre tanks (just under 30gallons I think) pretty good size and a little 40litre hospital tank lol
But nothing like your 150G and especially the 210 that thing is insane😍🤯. My plan is to sell both and go big with one huge tank in the coming future (fingers crossed) may have to be a custom build because of where I plan to put it lol... always wanted a much bigger tank. You've got me fired up my dude
Loving the content by the way.. Oh I checked out the video you reccomended on regards to cleaning the gravel while doing a water change, may have to try this method seems effective
Keep up the good work my dude 🙏🏽🙌🏽
Thank you bro, appreciate the positive feedback! And yea I get that a lot, guys tell me their wives are mad cause I make them want to upgrade lol
Nice! beautiful tank btw
"I missed it" lol
lol I did...I was looking for that guy lol
Add peacock bass to the American cichlid tank. I Love them Mannn...
Thanks for the tip 😁
Looking sweet!
Have you tried dropping in a bit of food when you want to scolp them out? It keeps them preoccupied while you grab them, will probably also bring the loaches out
@kaveMan Aquatics I may be acquiring a 150 gal soon and am looking for advice on the most cost effective way to filter a tank that size. Hoping you can shed some light as many of the threads I look at are from shops looking to sell the biggest and the best instead of giving real advice on what is best for the money.
Thanks in advance!
Kev can you do a short on cichlids lake salt man?
Good Idea 😊
@@KaveManAquatics thanks bro
What is the difference & benefits of Seachem stress guard & stress coat?
API stress coat is primarily a de-chlorinator but also helps with the fishes slime coat which is good for stress. Stress guard is not a de-chlorinated, its only for stress but its much more stronger and concentrated than api stress coat.
Great video as always, I appreciate them very much! Quick question. ..do you purchase fish from imperial cichlids?
Never have...but do you mean imperial Tropicals? Them, yes.
Lol that was it...thanks for the response.
Beautiful tank! I noticed the heater looked like it was on during the water change... Hope it didn't burn out on you! (I've done that before.)
Na it’s not on. I keep it on the same power strip as wave maker. That’s how I know, if wave maker isn’t on heaters aren’t in either 😁
Nice good luck♥️
Thanks bro!
Great video yeah my Madoka White lips and Star Sapphire for me grow slower than anybody else.
Hey man, great video 📹 👍. As usual How do you like the Aqua Decor background on your 75? Do the fish have hiding areas in it? Do you recommend?
Highly recommend, its awesome! plenty of spots to hide under the 3d rock
@@KaveManAquatics Thanks for the response as usual! Awesome background. I've been saving. Lol.
What was that pump you used to drain the tank? It looked like it worked really well. Did you use it in reverse to fill it too? Sorry, I’m new at this. That looks like an easy way to do it. Also does it work on smaller tanks or is it too powerful. I am learning so much from your videos. Thanks for sharing
Yes it is a very easy way. Its called a Vivosun pump. Links to everything I use can be found in my shop - koji.to/kaveman_aquatics
And heres a great video on how I drain and fill using the pump - ruclips.net/video/5T4t_PdXCQw/видео.html
Good video!(: but I have a question, how do you get rid of algae on tank glass?
Less light, less feeding, get a pleco, and get my free ebook 😁 bit.ly/H2O
Thank you!
Hi Kave, how many fish do you have in yr 210G?? It's looking FANTASTIC!!!
You must have not watched till the end, lol 50
Please make vedio on American cichlids and how to add new small American cichlid with old and how get out from fin nibing
Love your tank. I keep saying your tank is going to overflow....lol
thumbnail 🔥🔥🔥
lol, Thanks
If you ever plan on breeding those ob's please let's us know I'd love to purchase some especially those orange and purple or yellow and purple ones wow.
So you use General Cure anytime you add new fish to a tank? How does that work and why do you do it? Love the content!!!
Not every time, if I get a batch of about 5-10 I add general cure to their quarantine tank. Not to the main tank.
@@KaveManAquatics okay thanks!!!
I really learned with you thank you, My question is why there's lots of bubbles floating on top, the water is clear now, I'm feeding them less. I'll be a pro in no time.
This video should be helpful - ruclips.net/video/VcKV9V59Z0Q/видео.html
Question: unfortunately I couldn’t fix the seal issues with an older model fluval canister filter so I purchased a The marineland polishing filter - fully submersible & supposed to handle up 97 gallon tank. If you don’t mind me asking here- Have you heard of it & what’s your thoughts on submersible filters? It also creates a great current really moves the water & I can adjust it to flow up, down, left or right. I am still going to put in a wave maker though.
I dont use internal filters but have heard they are a great help at keeping your water clear.
Hey KaveMan ! My tank swap from my 20 gal tall to the 36 bow front went great ! Thank you for the advise on how to help switch it and chemicals to add and when to add them. I have another question I was recently given the pineapple from spongebob as decoration for the tank. But have recently found out it’s bad for the tank and releases chemicals in it due to the paint chipping. Is this true? I’ve tried googling it and some say it’s okay and some say it’s really bad. I removed it just in case
Awesome fish.
Thank you bro 😁💪
If I can get half the tank you have I’ll be VERY happy.
Hi Kev. Love your channel, never heard of cichlids until I seen your videos and I’ve recently took the plunge and bought some juvenile peacocks. Only thing is they keep following each other and glass surfing in one corner. Is this normal and will it eventually stop?
Glad to hear you got into cichlids. But theres a lot to learn about them. They're chasing each other because of their aggression. I suggest you check out my free webinar training on African Cichlids, will be very helpful for you - event.webinarjam.com/channel/KaveMan-Aquatics
Kev, I just squish the salt rocks with the back of the teaspoon while it’s still in its container and that makes the salt normal again
Cool tip 👍
Hey Kev nice video I see you adding new fish to the 210 question when you take the fish out of the grow-out Tyreke and put them in the main tank how many inches they should be with big boys lol
These guys were at about 3.5 "
@@KaveManAquatics oh okay between 3 inches no smaller than that yah okay thanx kev I appreciate u helping me
Love it
The white sand looks so good wished I went with that over black is it safe to remove my black sand and add white sand

@@KaveManAquatics sweet I go watch
What fresh water fish would you recommend for a 29 gallon tank?
Awsm sir 🤘🥰 lots of love from India ❤️❤️😌
Awesome! 😁
I added a 7 inch Arrowana to my established 150 with (4) 5 inch Uarus.. They were cool but my 3 inch Datnoid started hitting him. So my Datnoid lives in my big net for a week or so till Arrowana settles in. I put a big sponge filter in and waters Crystal Clear.. Thanks for the tip 👍🏽
My pleasure bro! Good luck with your arowana, I hope your datnoid settles down!
Hello keven , I have one question. How many hours do you have the aquarium lights on ?
You have very good videos
Hello from Miami
8 hours or less 😁
@@KaveManAquaticsok thank you so much for your time to answer my question
Have a happy weekend
I am getting ready to start my new 125 peacock chiclid tank. now this tank was already established as it is a rehomed tank. I have a forza 13 with uv filter (established and came with) and an fx6 as well (will need cycled) taking some water from my wifes 125 that we are taking down and moving to get my 125 going. so it is a semi established tank. I see that you want to add as many as possible at first to try and curb aggression and also don't keep repeating the pecking order. On the other side you put to many fish in you spike the ammonia and crash the system. I know there are so many varying factors which is why I gave you so much information. what is your suggestions as far as the first group of fish. and then adding others safely in the future?
Niceone kave👍
I think the clown Loach is not right for that tank (maybe I am wrong) but other fish are cool 💯👍👍👍😍
Why not? They are awesome additions
@@KaveManAquatics 👍
Hi Kev, where did you find the clip that you use on your bucket to hold your hose? Thank you
Most of the hoses come with one but not all do.
Came with my bootleg siphon hose...check it out here - amzn.to/3lf8h2h
Hey man awesome video! Was just wondering about putting clown loaches into my African cichlids tank too but was not sure how they would react to the cichlids lake salt, would they be ok?
The concern with loaches is aquarium salt, not cichlid salt. They'll be fine 😊
@@KaveManAquatics ok awesome!! thank you very much, you are a great help! keep up these awesome vids man!
Hi Kave!!! Where do you usually get your cichlids from?
My shop has my recommended breeders, (and discount codes) check it out- kavemanaquatics.com/shop
do you think 1250 circulation pump wavemaker is to strong for 60gal aquarium Time Warner to get it that's wrong because I was going to put it in a 75 gallon for the remaining time is it too strong with a 60 I have African cichlids
Dope.. when did you get your OB Taiwan Reefs? And what size did you buy them at? I just got my 2 “2.5”-3” guaranteed male” Taiwan reef OBs 2 weeks ago from SRC and I can tell they are males by their egg spots and they are just starting to show little glimmer of blue in their faces, but I heard they take a long time to grow and color up. Yours looks like like it’s already starting to show color so how long have you had it and how long did it take for it to start coloring up like that
I got them at about 1" 3 months ago...now theyre at about 3-3.5. the one male got color quick. The other 3 have to be females because they have 0 color, especially compared to the other guy
Look very similar to mine, you get them from SRC as well?
@@KaveManAquatics and what do you do to make them grow so fast? I got my first order from SRC about 4-5 months ago at 1.5”-2” and they are only about 2.5” maybe 3” so far and arnt really showing much color yet and seem like they are growing super slow
What sound track is that while you were draining the tank.
So, it's not necessary to acclimate the new fish to the new tank?
How is the RHINO PLECO doing in the grow out tank? 🐈🐟
Doing great! Growing and his color is change to a more dark green. He completely eliminated all the algae by himself! He must be full lol
How do I add demasoni mbunas they're so tiny I have a 75 gallon with only 6 duboisi one is full grown
Can someone help me? Can i put electric blue acara with ranchu goldfish and angelfish? I dont want the acara eating my goldfish...
Lets put everything else aside.. will them pick on my goldfish? I understood that electric blue acara is the least agresive fish from cichlids family
Kev, whats your opinion on the best canister filter? Fluval or Oase w/ built in heater?
Nothing is better than an FX6 bro
@@KaveManAquatics thanks for the suggestion 👍
do you continue adding stability everyday or just the day you added the new fish?... I just found out my tap has about .50 of ammonia..... thoughts ?
No, Stability daily only until your tank has finished cycling. After that you only need to add prime or safe during water changes. That's a high ammonia out of your tap, but the prime or safe will detoxify it long enough for your bacteria to convert it.
after you put in your water conditioner when the tank is low, are you filling up the tank with just regular water from the sink/hose? or is the water you’re putting in the tank also treated with water conditioner.
Regular tap water, after adding dechlorinator to tank. Watch this water change video - ruclips.net/video/ur6PMwbUiK4/видео.html
Kev how long is a good time to keep fish in quarantine
At least 2 weeks, but really 4
Hi Kev, what size was the clown loaches when you got them vs when you transferred them to the big tank?
I got them very small, but dont remember how long I waited until the transfer....I just remembered being a bit scared they were still too small lol
@@KaveManAquatics i see. I asked because I got clown loaches too but they are about 2.5-3” and not sure if they will be fine with my peas and haps tank. My biggest right now is the venustus and insignus hap which is 7 inches length.
@@KaveManAquatics so I just added my 5 clown loaches 2 days ago but they never swim around and just hide at the back of my HOB and output filter. I’m afraid that they won’t eat and starve.😔 what to do?
Hey there! I was hoping you could give me some advice! I recently just bought a 55 gallon aquarium, I’ve always wanted to keep a blood parrot. The tank was on sale so I decided to do it! I also want to keep African Cichlid. I’ve been trying to do my research and it led me to your channel. I was wondering if you could give me advice. Like how many should I get for a 55? Should I get 2 blood parrots? Can I keep a pleco with them? What kinds of Cichlids should I get? I watched your playlist for beginners and it’s help me a ton so I thank you!
