As a Manon player who just started playing Sim I don't know how to feel. Once people realize what that 3hk does that match up just went from pretty easy to real scary for Sim.
Keep the videos coming, brother; learning excited about returning to the game. I have a question or maybe a video topic, but what tips would you suggest for losing? We know losing is part of life, but losing gracefully requires a different mindset.
If your relationship with the frustration associated with losing isn't fantastic I have a video essay on that if you're interested too. TLDW frustration is the signal to hit the lab or to sleep on some concerns and to stop playing until later. If you can't recognize the humanity of your opponent and appreciate them, you'll devalue the process and the game, which leaves less things to get in the way of the anger involved in losing Losing with an open mind let's you collect problems to pick at and solve in training mode or vs other players. If you aren't skilled at losing in the moment it's really important to watch the replays. I have a notebook I keep with me and, when i actually use it, it feels really good to fill it up with new ideas to test and I need to lose in order to find new ideas.
lol my problem always was I gave up too easily. I would try one or two options which get stuffed and I'd be like "whelp, I guess I don' t have an answer *shrug*". But the key is always pushing past that hump, keep trying and always have an open mind, which is easier said than done.
This is a great video I love it so much phenomenal tech Jay keep up the great work with these videos and excellent advice on how to use the lab or training mode much love God bless you and your family bro
As a new player what do you recommend using, modern or classic? I’m new to the game and want to improve. Just found the channel and loving the vids so far
If you genuinely want to grind away at building your skill and maybe getting competitive... classic. Modern takes away too many tools/moves for some characters and the damage debuff is more and more detrimental the higher skill matches you play. Edit: Also classic skills transfer over to other fighting games, especially learning about combos. Sure the skills won't transfer exactly 1 to 1 (different mechanics or like Mortal Kombat uses orthogonal directions for specials and not so much diagonals, also a block button) but you'll already have solid basics to build on top of and tweak a little bit.
I disagree with the other comment. Valid points, but a new player should 100% learn modern. You can still learn your classic inputs along the way - which gives you more options than just what modern offers. And later on, once you are better overall, you can switch to classic for a deeper level of control. Modern gives you enough tools to learn and win. Classic will always be there. As an addendum, if you do decide to go classic, it still is straightforward to learn. It's how most players learned how to play fighting games so you know it can work for you if you put in the time. However, tradition isn't always better. Modern was developed for a reason.
@@cbbbbbbbbbbbb It's not just about learning classic inputs for special moves and such. Modern takes away standard moves for characters that are useful for different situations that you just can't practice at all with Modern controls. Also getting in the habit of using auto combos is going to be tough to break. "Tradition isn't always better"... ok... but classic is definitely better than modern in higher level play. There is a reason why no one in the top levels is using modern and that damage debuff is huge when you need to make the most out of every turn you get. You're right, modern does have a purpose and it's for people who just want to play and have fun, which is great. It's not for people who actually want to improve, as OP stated, without building bad habits. Edit: It all comes down to how much you want to improve. I'll say this is a good question to see what controls are best for you. Are you looking to learn frame data and/or sink time in training mode? If no, modern. If yes, classic.
@@BlitzkriegBryce Before sf6 I played a little mortal kombat and thats basically it if we talking fighting games. SF6 with modern controls is still overwhelming for me with all the mechanics and stuff, I can't even fanthom playing it on classic. You're talking from veteran perspective. I think it's better to start with modern, learn basics, get comfortable with it and then if you feeling like you wanna still grind the game and get better at it - then switch to classic to get more control over characters.
Can anyone tell me what the beeps are in training? Are they part of the music or is it trying to indicate something? Every time I watch a video of someone on training mode I think there's a device somewhere in my room trying to get my attention
Hey, Justin. Very educational stuff. Could you address the option select discovery that's said to be game breaking (block and tech throws). Is it really a perfect defense?
Plenty of creators have videos covering that OS. Rooflemonger, Lord Knight, Aris (avoiding the puddle) are the ones I know who have already made vids about it within the past day
I mean if you can still drive impact in the corner for a wall splat, go for the traditional high/low mix-up, or if your character has a command grab them there's that. But this is too unhealthy for the game's competitive viability and needs to be patched out ASAP.
@@5r3t5n0m There isn't much else to say, the OS is so obviously game breaking that they'll remove it ASAP. You can't just eliminate strike/throw mix-ups from SF. That's the game.
What do you feel about Manon vs Gief match up. I play Manon and get shut down by gief standing medium kick and crouching medium kick. If I jump, I get lariat. Any suggestions
You gotta out neutral gief. His attacks are slow and punishable. Also some fiefs aren’t used to pressure on wake up so feel out your meaty attacks for extra damage. Just be careful for his wake up super.
So I guess I'm just old. I can't play modern. My fingers just have a mind of their own that bleeds classic. Is it worth it to learn though? Long time jw fan.

I was thinking during that blanka ball segment. After 2HP,HP and blanka back rolls go for 214HK for that over head
I had just beat Blanka this morning before work.
You just solved my problem with the 3 characters I hate the MOST with Manon. Props.
That Manon slide is a useful anti air especially in the corner mess around and put the opponent in the corner and set them up for a mix or a grab
Loving the recent videos where you go into your process. Subbed.
Let me tell you about matchups... 100% times i fight against Cammy. I lose
Marisa and Jaime for me
Cammy and juri always got me trippin
@jcapo5 same dude it is so hard to fight camny with only one hand

Drive impact behaves differently depending on when it is done. So for example you can drive impact the honda but slam with the right timing.

I really want to see a SF6 #1 ranked character tournament. With all the top players to represent their character.
online rank 1 players dont mean much you can just grind and stack LP points. EVO is when best of the best come out
Good for you, CPT is mostly online this year lol
Not exactly what you are saying but.. you could watch some of the pro SF6 tournaments, yiu can see Who gets represented most also.
