There's an option in training mode that highlights your character red during special cancel frames, and blue during super cancel frames. This really should have been included in the video.
I usually drive rush into no-pants, cancel OD-dookie rekka, heavy TP, finish into handwash. The timing is tricky, your legs can go numb and you wont get Oki
Man, don't know how many of these comments you read but I really appreciate you braking down this frame data science for me. I'm just at the point of transitioning from casual gaming supers and jump in combos to getting in to the intricacies of frame data combos, and connecting specials. I love how deep this street fighter world is. Thank you so much!
This is the single greatest contribution to learning fighting games in the history of RUclips due to the digestable format that SF6 puts it into. If any other fighting game doesn't have this learning system, it's really over...
Yeah SF6 is the new gold standard. I've been a casual fighting game fan who never understood frame data ever, but 10 minutes playing with the frame meter in SF6 made me get it immediately, in a way no 30 minute long tutorial ever did.
@@steel5897love to hear it. i feel like the term 'frame data' frightens a lot of people, but its way simpler than they think. sf6 did a great job making it digestible
These kind of videos are why you're my favorite fighting game pro I've learned so much so so much just from watching you I've taken my Street Fighter game to a whole higher level just from watching you
These videos help spectators to understand the intricacies of the Combos you see on screen. Thanks for highlighting the additional frame advantage from punish counters and drive rush
I actually picked up quite a bit of info from JW in this video. I knew VERY little about frame data before this...and now I feel like I have the basic idea. Fighting games have always attracted me and I do enjoy them, but, I've never been any good with Street Fighter. I actually haven't picked any up since Guilty Gear (which I am trash...lol) SF4 or Tekken 6.
Coming to SF6 from SSBU, the concepts I can understand fairly well. Frame data, advantage and disadvantage, shield pressure all make sense. Combo routes are a little tougher for me but I think that's gonna come w practice and time. I am tired of fighting cammy w modern controls online tho lol
I understand it but still need a lot of work. Lol. Glad to have a video like this. Will need to study this but still happy to get an explanation. Thanks bro!
Chun was my first character starting to learn and now im learning terry i haven’t mastered anyone but this video helps alot thank you! Jus got my first fight stick
9:45 fucking this!!! the frame meter made it so easy and so much more fun to learn frame data. I've been aware of it for a long time, but i never used it to learn chaaracters the way i do with this game. For example, i was trying to figure out what to do after Chun's EX leg, which gives me 29 F advantage, then by just looking at certain moves frame data and active frames i could figure out something to do, which is dash (19f) and 4HP(8F starter, 6 active frames) Surely you could figure this out by just experimenting, but it felt so much more fun to do it this way. It felt like i was using my tiny little brain.
I love street fighter and I wish I could understand the game like this. Because of dyslexia I can't look at this info and take it in and use it so everything I do in the game is through trial and error and then muscle memory. The highest I've gotten on a character so far is bronze with Ryu 😅. Love your content Justin keep up the good work 👍
Cammy feels most natural to me, but damn do I run bad in this game. 2-19 this morning. Ridiculous. I've never had this much trouble online or offline with any fighting game. I need a coach, Justin!
If you’re having trouble with Frame Data, watch this!!! I had a lot of trouble with frame data for a long time, only started SF6 a couple of weeks ago coming from Tekken. I watched video after video about Frame data and this Video was simply the best, SF6 already has a great Frame data display but this Guide finally made me understand.
Thank you for explaining about the frame data. I never knew it was this important. U explain it clear, simple and easy to understand. Will have to put the frame data knowledge to use now. 😂😂
Honestly I just learned characters via trials First three I mained aka JP, Juri and Ken were characters I was already interested in + the latter two I tried in the demo alongside Jamie. Marisa is another character I'm interested in too but am still working on her (somehow better at JP than Marisa lol. Then with Dhalsim and Zangief, the former seemed kinda fun + his trial modes were fun, and the latter is admittedly fun which is bizarre cuz I've never liked Gief as a character and I still don't but idk. Literally attempted placement ranks with him as a joke and instantly got Gold 3 which baffled me
Thx Justin...hope it will help a "grandfather" like me to progresss in Fighting Games. Kid of the 90th and there is no better genre than games like SF, KOF, Tekken or SamSho :)
Thank you Justin for this video. I really liked how you broke down the process step by step. I never played chun li but now I might try her with this process.
hey new ppl. For us long time fg players we understand these concepts from hours and hours of playing these games. Just wondering if these concepts are easy to understand for all the newcomers out there. I've been so far removed from learning these things I don't remember how difficult it was to understand frame data + other concepts.
I’m new to fighting games and had no idea about any of this I’m bronze level currently. I’m doing well I go on 7 and 8 game streaks but I’m also very inconsistent. I know when I run into stiffer comp I’m going to have to understand frame rate. So confusing lol😅😅 you fighting game guys are gurus
As a smash Incineroar main, I was never a combo heavy player. But I've always been interested in Street Fighter. So now in Street Fighter 6 I'm a Zangief main cause he's a wrestler like Incineroar. I'm really enjoying him. He has some simple combos into lariat. And he has button that I like to use to intimidate my opponent cause they now they're gonna get grabbed soon lmao
so many useful lessons from the old master Wong. I've been walking around pantsless with poop on my butt after every defecation, but now I know that I can actually use that to my advantage and get some juicy counterhits!
Appreciate the frame meter breakdown - was really instructive as had always wondered how you guys come up with original combos and will probably try to go through this process myself. As “shit” jokes… hilarious! Was actually reminded of OG YTuber Peter Chao “rubbing shit on a building” sketch.
The thing is there are only 6 buttons, so before frame data existed, people would just experiment until they found out which moves connected with each other. There is a limit to the amount of combinations there are.
that was an amazing thinkaloud. and damn i wish frame meter became standard earlier, would have been so useful getting into and sticking with fighting games.
omg this is awesome, i was always a gold tier player at max in SFV. at that level you don't really need to care about frame data. just wait for opponent to do some special move and punish. i hit platinum and been losing ever since, i'm slowly trying to get into frame data thing but was feeling lazy to check those stats online and ask different people. Well, the game CORE gameplay is the same for every characters, so if you learn a characters, learning the others should be relatively simple unless we are talking about JP which is totally different because you need to learn patterns instead.
That's the price to pay to be plus on frame lmao. You save frames by not wiping, so you also don't need to wash your hands either, and no need to waste time pulling your pants up either. It's OPTIMAL
