If it wasn’t for all that terrible experience, I don’t see how Peterson’s repository of knowledge would have reached me, and so many others. I am so grateful for that

Many years later, Paul writes in Romans, "I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do-this I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it." "So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death?" Which is Paul's way of saying, The Struggle is Real.
Yes the struggle is real but on that passage our minister has been exploring that Romans 7 cannot be true of the Christian at the same time as Romans 6 and 8. It is suggested that Paul is reflecting on the helpless condition of the person (Jew) under the Law in 7 and that we are not to identify with it but to take on board that the Spirit gives us the power to reject sin and embrace the good. To 'live ' in 7 is to give ourselves an excuse but to ' live ' in 6 and 8 means to "say no to ungodliness".
The other side of the coin: God is real too. I say this bc we live in a dichotomic creation. And I believe that when we struggle we are in a tough place of making choices that will ultimately shape our faith. One way or the other. Make us weak or strong. PS 139:7-10 helped me find solace that no matter where the struggle takes me, Abba Father has my back.
@John of Words unlucky is a strange choice of words. Espec looking at your avatar name. Your poetic string of words is laudable to the extend it conflicts with the Word of God. You already live as a post-tetelestai being called not to redeem creation but to spread the Good News. That which you talk about creating ... has already been created in you, me, us all. Hey I've just experienced this, too. The title of this lecture particularly felt like a wink as if to say yes shit is hard and bad but it's part of a much larger picture which is in itself magnificent
Cheers friend, room is and has been clean for quite some time now, routine has been set but out of that question has arisen: what now?; what must take place before the next step? Truly, patience a virtue that must be cultivated, and doing that has been a battle, more now than usual :) I just wish there was an inner green light that told you when in general you were on track, and when you were straying off. I'll share this weird bit of synchronicity, I fell for drinking by myself tonight, something that my inner voice tells me I should avoid due to family patterns, and the bottle of wine that I'm currently downing is called Jacob's creek. Well, taking a look at the title of the video, I don't think you need to be much of a genius to see that life is telling me to rise above it. Enjoy the rest of the day, life is weird and always wonderful, even if very difficult sometimes.
I don't know why but I feel like tearing up when I listen to these. Is it awe? Is it gratitude? Is it because he's articulating the things which I've already known but never had words to say? I have no idea it's just... idk
I have the same thing. For me I think it has to do with him being able to take such profound meaning out of sentences that seem to have little meaning, even when I have read them many times.
Jordan Peterson, you are incredibly intelligent. Thank you for voicing your ideas to the world. I have been listening to your talks for a couple weeks now, and it has helped me start to know myself a little better and expand my spiritual views. You are a blessing.
Interesting how Dr Peterson explains trying to figure out the meaning of life as *"no one can do that alone, it's insanity"*. This is exactly what it is unless we have people we can trust that explain things as deep as our psychological interactions with reality. Those (myself included) who spend many hours alone pondering, wandering, and wondering about what it all means need to indulge in contact with others. Sometimes more, sometimes less depending on the people we contact. Watching this series has answered more questions about life for me in 30 hours than the previous 61 years. I would only hope to live to be 122 or more so I can enjoy it without all the baggage of pondering, wandering, and wondering...or, at least, spend those hours helping others find the same answers.

When JP says he doesn't buy the skeptical assertion that people on their deathbeds only have mystical experiences because it's their brains' last attempt at alleviating pain, it reminded me of something Dostoevsky wrote in Brothers Karamazov (I think). Something along the lines of: When very mentally ill people report seeing ghosts, people always assume their mental illness caused the experience. How do we know that ghosts don't only appear to severely mentally ill people? Dostoevsky was being a little sarcastic I think but he probably thought it was worth considering.
People's minds are closed off to other frequency bands and dimensions of reality. It's got nothing to do with being mentally ill or not. I've seen several spirits and I know other people who have. I also know a couple of good mediums who can connect with departed souls. These things exist regardless of whether believe it or not.

I try not to put any man on a pedestal, but I really appreciate my friend Ryan showing me Jordan Peterson a couple years ago. A lot of people have a misunderstanding of the Bible and of the Christian faith, and no wonder considering the complexity of the "religion" and the complexity of spirituality in general. Jordan helps people to understand Jesus. Jordan has helped me to understand the Bible, people, and myself a little better and I'm very grateful for that. poor bastard was such a genius it drove him mad. i will be forever grateful for this mans insight and i hope he comes back on more level ground. God bless you Jordan Peterson.
He was not driven mad at all, where did you hear that? And it wasn't because of his brilliance that he took a step back, that is severely uninformed and malicious statement that you should retract immediately. Its because he was facing a multitude of problems some of which were supremely hard personal health issues, the fact that his wife had cancer. He was also constantly facing different dragons (i.e media, radical left etc) that would absolutely crush the common man and to top it off he was prescribed physiologically addictive anti-anxiety medicine that caused him to seek medical help. It his brilliance and family that saved him sir. You need to act more responsibly and perform adequate research before besmirching people.
Happiness isn’t guaranteed in life. We should strive to make life less of a struggle for others. This is what gives our lives purpose and gives others a sense that life is worth living.

They initiated him into the mysteries. Thank god.
I am sad Dr. Peterson had to go through the drama of being violently and unfairly protested (and almost fired from U of T!) but at the same time, I am glad his “confronting the dragon” (and all the fire coming his way) allowed for his knowledge and lecturing skills to transcend his classroom and curriculum responsibilities, to build something of incredible value that so many of us benefit from. If it wasn’t for all that terrible experience, I don’t see how Peterson’s repository of knowledge would have reached me, and so many others. I am so grateful for that
Yes, It’s like a caterpillar to moth story.
beautiful writing Alfredo, I feel like the sjw are the response to a world becoming soft (tower of babel, or in too much abondance) and it lead to people like Jordan to be needed and welcomed! "Go into my stable and take my finest stallion. He is yours. His name is Windjammer."
The only time I heard that phrase was from Micheal Scott (Steve Carell) from The Office.
I guess I’ll have to google it.
I heard it as "take my finest stallion, shes in the stable, her name is windjet" on how I met ur mother
Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it."
"So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death?"
Which is Paul's way of saying, The Struggle is Real.
Not here to slap you in the face with my righteousness. Who am I, a chief of sinners, to do that, right? You already live as a post-tetelestai being called not to redeem creation but to spread the Good News. That which you talk about creating ... has already been created in you, me, us all. Salvation (order) is available to the world (chaos) -- let us be the light, John.

Jordan you made me re-evaluate my personal need for religion as a moral compass, Thank You.
Thank you for this. It was Jung's contention in his 'Psychology and Religion' that man isn't content with dogma and liturgy, but wants to experience God personally, which opened my eyes. It was a milestone on my own journey towards actually meeting God in Jesus Christ.
I studied psychoanalysis (object relations) in grad school. I’ve been fascinated by Jung for 20 years. My BA is in experimental and developmental psychology. I found cognitive neuroscience interesting since my undergrad years.
Then I found Dr Peterson. OMG.

Criminally underrated. This series has given me so much pleasure and insight into life
This man is becoming an icon of intelligence for our era
I disagree. I think on humanity as a whole, in proportion to intelligence throughout human history, he is right up there with Socrates and Aristotle. He isn't bright because we're all modernly dumb, he's just bright, and that's it.
Becoming? HE JUST IS!
Wisdom and intelligence. He's smart, but his wisdom is off the charts.

In perhaps my darkest moment for the past half year, almost exactly to the t (+- 2minutes) a new biblical lecture appears. I'll take that as a sign of something, and pay extra attention for the upcoming couple of hours. Thank you.
Onionknight Keep your head up! Keep you room clean!
Yeah same. Weird how that works.
Synchronicity
I don't know why but I feel like tearing up when I listen to these. Is it awe? Is it gratitude? Is it because he's articulating the things which I've already known but never had words to say? I have no idea it's just... idk
I feel this too, Marc!
I have the same thing. For me I think it has to do with him being able to take such profound meaning out of sentences that seem to have little meaning, even when I have read them many times.
So much Wisdom..(HUMOUR) CONFUCIUS SAY:

Marc, Thanks for putting that "out there". I am puzzled by my (tearful) reaction.
Jordan Peterson, you are incredibly intelligent. Thank you for voicing your ideas to the world. I have been listening to your talks for a couple weeks now, and it has helped me start to know myself a little better and expand my spiritual views. You are a blessing.
this is possibly the best youtube lecture on this subject. I've ever seen.. quite simply Brilliant
My favourite thing to do is to lay down in a quiet room and listen to these lectures as I let myself drift in and out of sleep. It opens up my mind and somehow lets me absorb the knowledge so easily. I always wake up feeling like I've had a revelation and recharged. Thank you Dr. Peterson!
Damn. I do the exact same thing. I always wake up motivated. Hearing other people say this has the same effect on them has really done something to me. I wish I could grab a beer with you guys. Hope you're well
It makes me so happy to see Mr. Peterson get such a warm welcome. I saw this man go from standing outside a college being called a nazi to psychology rockstar in about a year. Kinda gives me hope about some of you.
I'm a pastor and have been committed to the spread of the Bible and its teachings for the last 20 years. You are absolutely one of the greatest Biblical teachers of this generation, and have helped open my eyes on many key passages in scripture. I pray for you every day Jordan.

This is what I was looking for this morning. Admittedly, I stumbled across his interview with Dave Rubin, and that was, you know, all right, but this was what I was looking for!
Dominic Bertino Katamazov left me with chilled nightmares for years
People's minds are closed off to other frequency bands and dimensions of reality. It's got nothing to do with being mentally ill or not. I've seen several spirits and I know other people who have. I also know a couple of good mediums who can connect with departed souls. These things exist regardless of whether believe it or not.
@@misssarahashplant31 yes, I have had a glimpse of 3 Heavens and have seen Jesus and some demons. Mainly happens in deliverance prayer and God is highlighting the different 2nd Heaven altars souls/people are under. Jesus is way above it all on 3rd Heaven and when you connect with Him that is when souls can be freed from ancestral altars.
@@BCEden1 the veil between the spiritual realm and the physical realm is thick. It’s there for a good reason. It seems absurd but I have seen evidence that it is true. Even according to quantum physics, there are alternate dimensions.

Not a fan of pity parties but listening to your lectures I’ve been able to connect dots I’ve never seen before. My mother, God bless her heart. Was battling depression and raising 3 kids alone, and as the middle child I found myself getting the least amount of attention, acting out, getting in trouble.
I think that “favorite of the mother” part of the lecture really made a lot of sense to me, i didn’t have confidence growing up, I would chase women who’d hurt me cause I wasn’t taught what love was. It’s crazy to see this parallel play out in your own life.

This video was posted on my birthday 3 years ago. Oh my... those were dark times for me. Now here I stand coming out of the valley of the shadow of death and what a gift.
Dr Peterson always discusses happiness is not a goal but the focus should be on accomplishment. I don't believe these two are mutually exclusive. While I agree happiness in and of itself is not the goal, but rather a by product of achievement. The happiest times of my life we useually a result of my achievements and accomplishments. My most unhappiest times was where I had little contol or influence over events in my life or among my family members. I also happy in my family's or close friend's achievements.
Keep up the good work, Peter.
You are a gift to us all.

I love my church, and my preacher does an amazing job, but I hope God has and will continue to bless Jordan Peterson and the teachings he has done on the Bible. 💚💚💚.

One of the most inspiring things to me is that Dr. Peterson is a manifestation of the behavioral characteristics that he teaches! His ideals and his conduct is harmonized or integrated. So he has an amazing degree of integrity! He is such an inspiration! Besides being phenomenally interesting!

poor bastard was such a genius it drove him mad. i will be forever grateful for this mans insight and i hope he comes back on more level ground. God bless you Jordan Peterson.
Saw some footage of him playing with a RC car. He's up and moving, seems to be recovering.
