I love this and just wanna add a little something I learned personally.
God was hard on the Israelites because they weren't using their "manna season" to prepare themselves for the "milk and honey" season. All the complaining they did, despite the hardship, was a waste of precious time and kept them from learning and growing, which is what thwy needed after years of Tyranny. The complaining and resistance to learn kept them out of Canaan (the ultimate destination).
In order to get to the promised land we need to go through a season of desert. It's the struggles in the desert that prepare you for the struggles in the promised land which are much greater but much more fruitful. The Israelites wouldn't have been able to handle the struggles in Canaan if they couldn't obtain the lessons in the desert, which is ultimately reliance on God.
Hope this encourages somebody whose currently enduring their desert season. Remember. He didn't call you to Manna. He called you to Milk and Honey.

This is what it meant by putting the snake on the staff and getting the Israelites to go and look at the snake. It’s facing their fears, so then no matter what snake bites them they have the bravery to deal with it without dying. A metaphorical snakebite is betrayal by friends or family, or one of many many many other tragedies in life. Facing fears, is unbelievably rewarding.

      It's a test type of christ .
As the serpent was raised, so was christ Jesus also raised.
It's also linked to the serpent in Genesis, the serpent was judged in Genesis . Read it carefully the serpent was a beast , the snake is the symbol of sin judged, like Jesus who knew no sin became sin and we need to do is look unto Jesus Christ and accept his work on the cross as the atonement for our sin , look believe, receive and live.

    • @reamartin6458
      @reamartin6458 Год назад +6

Incorrect, the snake represents sin and the idolatry they (Israel) left behind in Egypt. It was a foreshadowing of the Messiah who became sin so that you might have life and live. Looking at the snake was an act of faith. Read the Bible and don’t take biblical advice from a man who hasn’t accepted Yeshua as his savior / JP is smart but isn’t lead by the Holy Spirit. Man’s logic leads to hell.

@@reamartin6458Okay, so following your last statement... Since I'm a man, would the logical inferences I derive from reading the Bible be "from hell" (or towards it, etc.)? Where should a man draw the line in the quest for spiritual truth and pure pragmatism?

But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.

A true Higher Power is going to call you to become a better and better version of yourself. None of us is truly self sufficient, no matter how far off the grid we may try to go. We are still relying on the rain to come down, and the sun to shine, and our lungs to keep breathing. People with nothing greater than themselves to look toward tend to become hopeless, in my view. Even very wealthy people may be relying on their money. But you can’t eat money in a famine. And money doesn’t give you peace in your heart either.

As a rock climber who has climbed over 1000 feet, you learn that you never stop being afraid. The fear gets quieter as you get braver. And you do realize that as you get braver, when facing the rock, you get braver in general. I’ve been able to do incredible things in my life that I never would’ve done had I not started rock climbing.
Social anxiety, fear of being alone, fear of death itself, fear of never having a family, fear of not making something meaningful with my life…. all of these become easier because of rock climbing. But you’re never not afraid on that rock. It’s terrifying, and I’ve been doing it for 14 years and the crazy thing is, you can always push the throttle down harder and make it more terrifying. Always. You learn to be best friends with that fear. you get to willingly choose just how hard you wanna push yourself knowing that it will suck, but in the long run, you’ll be better off for it.

That is very informative an soo pregnant with questions about our own ongoin journey into God's kingdom. Jordan is kinda walkin out publically his own understanding n questions with us n we are priviledged to see a man, possibly with some similarities with Paul of Tarsus, early n later, I think, his summary of those stories is such a great type of his own(google) search into the parralells n meanings in our own journeyings thru many wildernesses. Thank God, Jordan n Tammy have the guts to traverse these landscapes. As the bible says, "we see thru a glass darkly n not many wise men now are called" but hey, with people like Jordan nTammy we can "wise the hell up, Buco! Macro n Micro, To hear these stories from this perspective makes us ask questions n often it seems miraculous just to have the questions, imo This may or may not be his greatest lecture, but I think its one of his greatest overall questionin of our journeyin. Believe or understand the questionin, I think its a blessed framework to put our own lives on, we are all in this together n no easy way out, we have to go thru these things. Thanks to all etc etc God Rules, with love!

The concept of "God as the Call to Adventure" uses examples from Abrahamic stories.
    - Abraham's call to adventure by God leads him out of his comfort zone and into a series of challenges and hardships.
    - The narrative compares this individual call to adventure with Moses' call to lead his people out of Egyptian tyranny.
    - The story highlights that escaping tyranny might not immediately lead to better circumstances, as the Israelites face challenges and lose faith in the desert.
    - The discussion delves into the idea of worship, the symbolism of the snake, and the significance of facing fears and challenges voluntarily.

Just like the snake statue in the desert, Jesus takes out the poison. He took it on for us. If you believe in Him, your sins are forgiven. Sin still causes pain, but since our souls are eternal, once you believe, Jesus’ payment for our sin is applied and we have eternal life - we will only die a physical death - but will live forever in heaven with Him, instead of in hell. Jesus makes us new - alive spiritually - born again.

Dear Jordan, the answer to your question about what God tells Moses to do about the snakes is this: the snake is made of copper. Copper represents repentance in the Bible. That's why the horns of the altar in the courtyard of the tabernacle were made of copper.
The snake was to be put on a pole, not just so everyone could see it, but because of this:
The Bible states that 'cursed is he whom is hung on a tree'. The word for 'tree' can also be translated to 'pole'. Later, Jesus would be hung on a cross (which is essentially a wooden pole), to die for all the transgressions, stiff-headedness and sickness of all humans who believe in Him.

Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? 5 And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders 6 and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’ 7 I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.

Read what Jesus Christ said about the snake lifted by Moses in the wilderness in John 3:14,15,16. This how the Lord and Saviour of all humankind understood it. I love to listen to Dr. Peterson speak but he has the potential lead a lot of people away from the Truth until he acknowledges that the Jesus Christ is the truth, the life and the way. “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish each other in the Lord”.

What I understood from this is "the snake" can be seen as the "obstacle" that one may come across at times in life. No matter how good it may seem one has it you may get bit and still have to find a way to get through what you may be going through. But hey I may have interpreted this all wrong. Ha!!!!

I had a different revelation on this. The snake represent the venom and death and those afflicted by its venom should look at the snake on the staff to be cured. Now listen closely, Jesus on the cross represents the sin of the whole world, and in order to be free from sin you have to look at Christ, you have to turn to Him. God is truly great. ❤

Alot of interpretation.... with so little questioning. Bold and Amusing.... no harm.... dare to wander, folks. Follow your heart... Faith. Not Fear. Humans and their proof.... oooof. 2023. How can any one of us judge the other? When we are all here for one common reason: To break the chains... the generational curses, the psychological manipulation, save ALL OF the children...the cuffs of addiction, the implemented guilt...and escape the tyranny of modern government...? This will become a peace treaty for future generations... or a Holy War of epic proportions. Personally.... I'd rather die on my feet for a worthy worldly beneficial cause... than to disgrace the blood of my ancestors OR YOURS by bowing down in pre-defeat on my knees in surrender while our women and children are blatantly trafficked and sold and our men used as work steeds then sold for glue as if their labor were meaningless.... It's unacceptable. We are HUMANS. Disgraceful humans that cant even recognize the Son... none fit to judge. Abuse of innocence.. it is enraging! No one here is perfect, and be any, let him first cast a stone at me! I'm not hard to find, ever... Accountability.... Grace.... is a process. Humble pie for everyone, We are all just leading each other home. And this home...
    This home
Will not be like the last...
    To all our fallen...
Nothing has been done in vain.
Sometimes one small act of kindness can change a person's life....
Sometimes... it can also change the world.
    😏😘

Jesus death means salvation from death... The snake atop Moses' staff also represented "salvation" from the snake venom, and death.
