Good content as always. I recently passed 5,000 miles with my KW DDC coilover setup on my F80 and still love them. They are super comfortable for the street, planted, and direct with steering. I just recently replaced a thrust arm on my driver side and the ride is solid. It is my daily and I frequently take the wife and kids with zero complaints from them about the ride being harsh. I definitely want to put them to the test on a track sometime soon.
Only reason I want to get rid of factory suspension, is because I feel every bump in the road and it’s loud and thumpy, I want something just a little softer.. I need your insight.
well said, my theory is if things are not broken don’t fix it, there is a chance you only make it worse, that is specially true for street uses. For track, I would only starts to change my suspension when I nearly reach the record of the stock car, otherwise how can I tell what it’s lacking if I am 30s slower than the record on a 2 minutes ish track. Better just put those money on tickets, fluids and tires, and improve the driver mods.
Agree and disagree. Some items can be upgraded just fine without ruining anything. I personally exceeded the limits of my stock suspension the very first week of use lol. The moment I put my coilovers, I was able to actually drive the car so much harder. Zero issues with me installing them. If you aren’t exceeding your stock suspension, you aren’t driving hard enough, and if you aren’t driving hard enough, Im questioning why you bought this car in the first place…
Would you think it would be a good idea to put coilover on an s550 mustang. Since it similar weight to an m4. I want to get the car to feel as planted and without body roll similar to what I get when I drove a 440i.
There are also tons of companies that just make coilovers, simply dyno original shocks and valve 20% more compression to give people that idea of hardcore stuff. And then there's a few companies that really do something in t heir own way. That have a certain philosphy and dont make a kit for every imaginable model.... TractiveSuspension for example...
One of the better videos.. i have been watching you on and off for years and i like watching you learn and admit your mistakes. Nice job, bro. Peace and safe travels
Your M4 is an excellent design. Quite nimble on the track stock. Well balanced and tight handling on higher speed turn ins. Was able to feel really confident tracking out.
I have to agree with you 100% regarding the F80 M3's suspension! I personally think the OEM suspension on my 2017 M3 is PERFECT as is from Munich! Edit: BMW has spent millions of dollars in R&D to develop their M cars' suspension,...and I have yet to drive an M car that had a suspension that 'sucked' in regards to it engineered purpose! For instance, I test drove 3 F80 M3s just to find that I prefer 1)the non-comp M3,...2,..shodded with 513M wheels over those shodded with 2" wheels! For those that prefer rock-hard suspensions,...more power you,...however, there are many that prefer a subtle ride on the street as well.
yet the same company purposely de tunes cars to sell different ride feels in a higher rated chassis. A ton of R&D is pout into new sets as well. OEM suspension is tunedd for the ride height equipped not one that is desired. OEM is not always the best 2013-2018 technology isnt 2023 technology.
OK, if $1500 is cheaping out, what price point is considered adequate for someone who's not looking to cheap out and really wants a better performance from their suspension set up ??
All depends on what you want... A good value no brainier would be KW Variant 1 for someone to get their feet wet with high quality suspension for the road without completely running ride quality. Then the KW Variant 3 would be for someone who has the time and knowledge to find their exact setup while keeping good ride quality. The next step up is Ohlins road and track for a more track focused suspension, with stiffer springs and more features. The rest JRZ, Nitron, KW clubsport and Bilstein PSS10 would be for track cars. Just compare prices for you exact car and you'll know whats a good value for your use case
335 owner here, I just ordered the bilstein b14s for my car because I feel like the M sport suspension is shot now after 100k miles. Any thoughts on the b14? I can’t find much online about it.
Bro same, on my e93 335i w/ MP package, the struts blew out right at the 100k mark, thinking of going with the b14s so if you ever got them please reply if they are worth it or not
What is the top two systems I should put on my dodge charger 2012 SXT V6 to lower it 1 inch .3 front and back and still get the same ride as stock is there anything out there that good? I have eibach pro kit with the struts and it’s not good I want an everyday driver
Did you do some trackdays in the meantime? Are you going to do a after XXX month review about the billstein? Im really interested how you like them because i would like to have them on my M3 F80 but wondering if i should go for this or something else..
My m340i is riddled with rock impacts. I’ve only had it 3 months. I haven’t replaced It yet only because it’s just gonna get hit again in a week. Cheap glass wasn’t something bmws top engineers spent time developing
I've got the m performance on my f80. Wagner charge cooler, mishimoto charge pipes, dinan heat exchanger, catless downpipes single midpipe mad max exhaust, all the carbon fiber.
Imagine livingin a country these things driven 100,000km cost still 80k euros. I love these m3/m4 but cant see the point upgrading from n54 to them over the cost. Enjoy your car man!
You don't need to corner balance your car after.. an alignment will suffice.. Corner balancing is if your taking it to the track which 90%+ of BMW owners don't do...
4:48….make NO mistake, the overwhelming majority of parts/accessories made in Taiwan are pretty WELL made and they’re NOT cheap at all. Are you talking ‘bout stuffs made in China? Please do your research before making that BOLD statement.
@@SimplyCarThings ….BC Racing coilovers aren't that bad, ok….they’re considered decent upgrades for many sports sedans out there. Furthermore, a lot of enthusiast forums have provided positive feedback and experience w/ numerous BC Racing products. Nuff said.
That was a lot of words when all you said was “there are a lot of variables,” “it’s complicated,” and “you get what you pay for.” What exactly is “the hard truth?”
i have m performance coilovers on my f87 and they were just fine for street driving it depends on the setting, obviously you cant go over bumps at high speed like you can with a E series benz or something, buts that the case with all sports cars

4:50, so $1500 is cheaping out on coilovers? And I was looking at $300 ebay coilovers.
😂😂😂

Thanks video is a great insight and helped me navigate this minefield and I am now heading in a proper direction cheers mate
Ok... what's wrong with around $1.5k coilovers like BC or Fortune Auto 500 or Silver's?
Cheap chinisium that is fine for shit boxes but not m cars especially when you track.

I have a 2015 bmw 328i xDrive GT I’m looking for some nice suspension kit for comfort and some time st

You totally get it. The placebo effect is so rampant in the tuner world.
great advice 👍 getting new coilovers is only half of the job done. dialing it in perfectly to the car is another!
very true, it’s so important yet most people overlook it!
Have you done a video on the bmw 440i with the m package? I’m looking for my first reliable bmw and these look quite appealing for a daily
Got one this year with mppsk. Do it, its the best daily.

oh shit you went with clubsport bilsteins. how are you liking them and how is the ride height settings? I am thinking of picking some up for the f87.
bro they are amazing. shoot me a message on Instagram and I can send you some more pics of the ride height and tell you more about the settings
Would be cool to see a video of the M4 on track.
What size and offset is the rear.
Great video with great points. Thanks!
So did he ever do a full review ?
Are you from Temecula? E90 owner here and randomly came upon your channel and noticed what looks like Birdsall lol.
Great video. Everything is a trade-off. Everything.
Had me rethinking my build can you make a video in more detail
what specifically would you like me to make a video on?
@4:50 is for all those running BC racing coilovers😂
At least I can get lower then you😂
m4 looking clean broseph! very nice
appreciate that brotha!
is that a crack windshield @7:45?
yep

what front splitter is that?
here's a link to it

A1 informative content as always. Keep uploading Omar !
appreciate u bro!
Are those stock headlights?
Yessir!
The answer is always Ohlins Road and Track suspension. No matter the car or motorcycle.
I would counter that and say MCS 2-way remote dampers
Nice 👌 I also wasted lots of money on my car specifically on the wrong suspension
same man, lesson learned 😂
Racecar suspension. There are always going to be trade-offs for that track performance.
What wheels do you have ?
Apex SM10!
Dope thanks. That's what I thought
What times are u running st buttonwillow? And configuration?
Imagine livingin a country these things driven 100,000km cost still 80k euros. I love these m3/m4 but cant see the point upgrading from n54 to them over the cost. Enjoy your car man!
you would think it would be cheaper in europe since its a euro car
thats the european union extra taxes they put on purchases,
@@qna95B yup crasy shit man.
This if why i like just emd springs to do the car and everything else stock. Bmw knows what they are doing

@@bluestonemetallic7 fair enough, i guess they aren't all that bad lol
Yeah BC or something comparable are fine if you have a old e36,e46 ect, if I had a new M3 or something I wouldn’t put that shit on there lol
Nitron use damper bodies or components made in Taiwan and they're one of the best.
I love suspension
me too!
BOGE/SACHS and Bilstein are the OE anyways. 😂
thanks for keeping it real!
of course!
That was a lot of words when all you said was “there are a lot of variables,” “it’s complicated,” and “you get what you pay for.” What exactly is “the hard truth?”
I don’t care bc coilovers all day I can go super low, don’t care about the track anyways
Preach
400 👍
🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷👏🏻, Awesome video as always!
Bro, what happened to your face?! Were you in a huge car accident?
for the road....coils are rubbish.
track.... nothing beats them imo.
if your hoping for the harshness to go away...it won't...it will get worst as time goes on. very good brand but no. track only
So true. That video is coming in 6 months 🤣
i have m performance coilovers on my f87 and they were just fine for street driving
it depends on the setting, obviously you cant go over bumps at high speed like you can with a E series benz or something, buts that the case with all sports cars
really depends on the kit and damper settings you go with tbh, but yea for most people, they don't need them for the street
