I love how Chet just stares at Red Mitchell playing the piano with such admiration. It’s always beautiful to see a very talented musician recognizing another’s talents.
Awesomely wonderful and thanks for the memory of Mr Baker and the piano too!
♡♡♡
Kids, you want to learn standards? watch Chet and learn from one of the greatest that ever lived in this planet.
Such a beautiful Rodgers & Hart song melodically & lyrically & the late Italian tenor, Sergio Franchi indeed had the best vocal recording of this Rodgers & Hart 'Rembrandt' I've ever heard
I don’t think there’s another musician that can touch me as deeply as Chet can.
It's the same with me
Chet and Jack Jones touch me the most
Try Ben Webster and let me know ....
... although I love him too ... 😃
Sure, and there was also Bil Evans I am sure
Chet lost his teeth in a fight, during the depths of his heroin addiction, and had to completely remake his embouchure, and he could still play as evidenced in the video.
Love the way Chet is watching Red in those first couple of minutes. Beautiful piano playing, and from somebody so well known for double bass makes me admire it all the more.
Is that Red Mitchell? OMG! I'd never have guessed. Amazing.
Thank you, Shaun.
'Red Mitchell use to gig & record with the great jazz pianist, Jimmy Rowles who, I used to catch at LA Jazz supper clubs back in the day when LA had Jazz venues all over the LA basin, Once upon a time
Ficou lindo.
.... Un grande
he honestly is so adorable
Thanks that’s Red Mitchell by the way and Chet’s perfect ear !
1:42 i love this moment,perma loop :)
Amazing video. In every way. Thank you! One correction: the song was written by Rogers and Hart, not Cole Porter.
Thanks to Gazell for these gems. So intimate!
It's amazing! Thank you so much for all of this videos.
5:00 "Oh yes". THAT SMILE!
Admirable estética musical de Chet! El piano sublime hasta que se encuentran!
So nice and sweet ! Thanks !
Rodgers and Hart…ahh
He is amazing ... a lot of spirit 😔😔😔
I so love this... Tack för delning!
THANKS FOR THIS AMZING PIECE OF HISTORY!!!
couldn't agree more
And Red Mitchell is known mainly as a bass player....
When it’s magic ... it’s magic ... 🤷🏻♂️
Was this dude on tweak towards the end of his life? Serious question. I know he wouldn't give up the H and moved to EU, I learned that in the doc on Netflix.
Hermosa melodía, profunda
4:24-4:40 magic;)
Maravilha!!!
simplemente baker
This is priceless
Just gorgeous.❤️
Wild aesthetic
Whats this type of jazz called?
Ballad
Or mellow jazz
I'm fascinated by how Chet thought about music. My understanding is he didn't know how to read music or understand chord changes?
As someone who has transcribed him I’m not sure if he can read music, many jazz musicians can’t because it’s an aural art form. I do think he understands chord changes because of his note choices. If you don’t understand changes you play lots of notes that make no harmonic sense and everything he plays has a purpose and makes sense within the changes.
@@londonduszynski3518 Chet played in army bands and according to those he worked with he could read music. He wasn't a good sight reader and didn't usually nail it the first time through, but he could read apparently, contrary to some of the myths about him.
