Jean Louis Rassinfosse on bass, laying down a great feel with the piano player, (I wish I knew his name) they don't need drums. and Chet getting the most out of the dreamless vibe. Absolutely beautiful
He was just putting it all together his voice+Trumpet and not too long after the end of the story came to a close. We are very fortunate to have him alive when we want to reminisce his the book.RIP
the sad thing, as an artist, as a musician you strive so hard for perfection, and never truly know when you arrive there. This group I believe got there with this track. I wonder if they knew?
@@thomasnorman9536 As I knew nothing about this, I just listened and loved what I heard. I heard Baker "take" the solo back to himself. He was very easy to follow. All you needed, was to trust him; and enjoy where the trio took you.
No disrespect intended, but chet didn't play high or loud on this recording. I think that's why you can "get away with it". Have never seen lead trumpet players sit like that.
Gazell, you do a great job making this video, but also a great show of disrespect to the players joining our "star" by not even mention their names. I see this often on RUclips, and it is shameful. Please correct this abuse of talented artists...
CHET BAKER (trumpet)
MICHAEL GRAILLIER (piano)
JEAN-LOUIS RASSINFOSSE (bass)
@erictuditk435
Wow. We lost Michel graillier in 2003. I like his stuff. Different than Harold Danko. Just as good in his own way.
You know when you see anyone playing jazz/funk music with that FACE ON 2:00 , he will KILL THIS BEAT !
It has a 70’s funk vibe to it. I like it
That bass is groovy!
Proof that PERFECTION exists!
This guy was too cool for school 😎 His albums with Paul Desmond were pure gold.
Yep!
А со Стеном из платины.
I love this like my first born child. It heals the soul.
The best ever! Chet Baker!

An icon of West Coast cool jazz, Chet Baker rose to fame in '50s with his lyrical trumpet lines and spare, romantic singing. 5:41 [AllMusic]
Very smooth. RIP Chet, you pushed the bar!
Very before Tiny Desk!
I'm living for those moments
Only a few years before his untimely death, but he was at the height of his sophistication.
Like an intimate home movie! So different from the highly overproduced stuff now dominating music. Very pure. No gimmicks. Straight from the soul.
I don't know if this track could be better palyed, the emotion when I'm listening to it is so strong.
Look up Chet Baker at Onkel Pö’s Carnegie Hall. Love for Sale has never been played better than on that album.
I am not posing this as "better" but this is a great performance: ruclips.net/video/Ye9IM35Fppo/видео.html
@@Demazzi2ithe bass on this recording (carnegie) is really not that tight. In this one it’s really clicking well with the piano + trumpet
Thank you, Gazell! What a session. And fantastic to experience in good sound and picture quality 35 years later
Sublime
i don't know who the Bassist is, BUT MAN he had a fucking GREAT TIME playing that truck.
Jean-Louis Rassinfosse is the bassist.
Absolutamente fantástico 👏👏👏
3 years later = 13MAY1988...Chet is now OffWorld! Thanks for everything Chet.
Grandiose concert 🥰😎👍

Michel Grallier : Piano from Paris, great Pianoplayer!
Musicality from the center of universe!
That moment you realize you’ll never be the coolest cat while Chet’s around
That was fantastic!

chet kickin back on a nice chesterfield chair with drinks, cigarettes, and mellow tunes. All while wearing flip flops lol

Jacek R yes the blue Bridge that makes Idaho to Washington
Yep. They probably predefined how many times to stay on that pedal ...nonetheless a quick check is advisable you know

That's a terrible posture for a brass player, but it never seemed to affect his breath control.

That bassline tho…
This is so smokin' hot. Ouch!!!

Any idea what brand of bass Rassinfosse playing?
It could be a Jacky Walraet, luthier in Belgium. Incredible sound!!!
@@carloalbertorassaval3275 I agree. Awesome.
Nice arrangement. And Chet really kills on a funk vamp. But the other players should not remain nameless.
Oops, left out the "not" (edited to correct). The other players were extremely good.
The bass line always reminds me of Chameleon.
