* Sorry guys, I forgot to mention arguably THE most important feature of the Saramonic Blink 500 Pro -- you can choose to record in either Mono (1 track) audio, or Stereo (2 track) audio. Recording in Stereo allows you to separate the audio tracks in post-production and fine-tune each one in editing. This is a HUGE upgrade over the old Saramonic Blink 500 which only allowed you to record in Mono.
thank you @Gemini Connect for this crucial info! I am an owner of previous generation Blink 500 and it was huge let down to discover this fact after my purchase. Not being able to separate audio tracks makes this whole concept useless. In spontaneous real world situations both audio sources talk simultaneously quite often - especially when they don't talk to each other, but with someone else (in group, etc.). And even if Audio person A talks directly to audio person B, it's a natural human tendency in non-interview situation to not let other person quite finish her/his sentence, but start your own. I shot amazing BTS footage with Sony ZV-1 and old Blink 500, but due to overlapped talking mixed forever into one track, audio was, most of the time, basically unusable. After that sadly I had to ditch device, also I was too far and too late to ask for a refund.
Suzi, this video is what sold me on the Blink 500 Pro! Smooth, thorough, informative, professional...while at the same time...casual and friendly. You guys rock and I'll continue to watch what you're doing. Thanks for your honest reviews on many things in which I'm interested.
I personally have used the Rode Wireless Go set up for a while now and haven't had any issues. In conjunction with the Deity Duo or a splitter, I have the flexibility to do two-person audio when needed. However, Saramonic seems to have done a great with this package. If I knew someone who had no external audio solution I would definitely suggest this package to them. Saramonic has always offered good value solutions for creators. Great review guys. I would be interested in seeing a long-term review in the future.
Rode + Deity is a great combination. That was our go-to for a 2 person setup until this Saramonic came out. We've been using it for about a month now and still really love it. Great idea to do a long-term review too 😀
The Rode wireless go receiver has an audio meter, wich shows you the clipping while the Saramonic shows only the waveform, but the Saramonic's advantage over Rode is the microphone's gain control.
Been avoiding the ride wireless go but I was going to get it out of convenience, and honestly I’m so grateful that there’s a solution!! Thank you for this review!!

@@Gemini_Connect I'm always excited to see your new uploads and your channel is a big help especially like me, I admit, I know very little when it comes to softwares, and trouble shooting in potential editing problems and sorts. Much thanks to you guys!
The first version was pretty good and is still a viable option. The upgrades are very nice though, especially that LCD to verify settings. The old version drove us nuts when we were trying to first pair the mics and control levels.
The hardest part of audio for two people for us is trying to cancel each other’s audio , it’s a lot of work in in post. We would consider this instead of our current setup as it will get rid of the wires. Larry
The drawback on the case not having a pouch for the cable. If you look up on amazing those sticky wallets for the back of phones some have a "lid" and if you stick that to the case it could work.
Still i would prefer my Comica Boomx D2 which have 2 mics and all simillar functions like the LCD screen and the ability to plug in Lav mic and monitor audio through headphone jack. Plus they have a very secure Deadcat (wind muf) system. Only draw back that they only have mute buttons on the transmitter and not on the receiver. They are pretty small in size as well. My Comica Boomx D2 can record audio in Stereo also which i can split into 2 separate tracks in post and delete anyone later in case someone messes up the audio.
We have the Comica Boom too and will be reviewing that mic system soon. It has some features that are indeed better than Saramonic. FWIW the Saramonic Blink 500 Pro can also record in Stereo audio with 2 tracks -- the non-pro version only recorded in Mono.
Rode just released the new version.... You should do a comparison between the 2. It's so hard to find this video. People need to know about this product before the buy
I bought the original Rode Wireless Go when it first came out, and I've used it constantly (though just for casual vlogging). I've had a very good experience with it. Some time after I bought it, however, other companies came out with their versions that had two microphone transmitters, such as the Comica and the Saramonic. These competitors also seemed to be better value, because a lot more accessories were included in the box, such as 2 lavalier mics. You had to buy these accessories separately with the Rode Wireless Go. But I stuck with the Rode. I really liked the sleek and elegant form factor, and the audio quality. To my ears, the Rode sounded quite a bit better. The ability to have two microphone transmitters was appealing, but it wasn't something I absolutely needed for simple one-person vlogging. So, the Rode Wireless Go suited me perfectly. But I did keep wondering when Rode would release the new version of the Wireless Go. I assumed the new version would also have the ability to pair two transmitters with one receiver. They had to do that in order to compete, and I was puzzled why it was taking them so long to release the Wireless Go II. But as you know, I'm sure, Rode just announced it. I'm looking forward to your review. I've checked out a bunch of reviews on RUclips and elsewhere so far, and I really like what I see. Based on the features it offers, I think it will take the market by storm. A lot of people have been waiting for it. After watching these reviews, it is making more sense to me why it took Rode so long to release the new version. They didn't only add the ability to pair two transmitters with one receiver. It seems they changed and improved a lot more than just that. For example, I really like the ability to record audio internally right in the Rode. I'm not quite sure how that feature will work in real life, but it sounds interesting. The technical features seem to have been improved greatly as well, with lots more bells and whistles that will appeal to pros and audiophiles (such as the new app controls). And they reworked some of the physical features, too, which should appeal to casual users like me. The wind muff is now screwed into place and held there firmly. I really like that. And they even changed the cord's design, which I really like. And it looks like they managed to do all this while keeping the units roughly the same size and with the same simple but attractive form factor. I hope Rode sends you a unit in the mail so you can review it for your viewers. 🙂👍
We agree with your sentiments 100%. Rode has been and still is our go-to microphone brand, but the competition has gotten fierce. It wasn't long ago that we would laugh off brands like Comica, but their new releases have not only been Innovative, but really really good. Rode says it will be sending us a review unit soon. We are very excited to test it out and compare to Saramonic, Comica, and Hollyland. Stay tuned!
Hi Gimini Connect, Thanks for taking your time to make this review. I was (bought the Blink 500 Pro B2) in the market for a wireless audio solution and some affirmation I did good is always nice. You need a lot of affirmation as a newbee :-) Some other reviewers wisdom that might help. You can dim the display after 10 seconds so that should help. The death cat can be fixed secure, a reviewer shake it holding the furry no problem. As far as the branding, something like black electric tape could help?
Thanks for the tips, Lex. Yes, the screen can indeed be dimmed. The windscreen attachment, however, is very flimsy. It's the same attachment system as the Rode Wireless Go, which is also not very good. Gaff tape could be used to cover the logos, but that shouldn't be necessary--better if they omit the logo from the clip as Rode, Comica, and Hollyland have done with their wireless mic systems.
Saramonic seems very good !! there is a lot of products now where you can use 2 transmitters. One of them is the Hollyland LARK 150 that seems to be pretty good too... but that is for a another review :-) Thx a lot, great videos and recommendations from you guys like always.
It's amazing how many new wireless mics are on the market now. That definitely was not the case 2 years ago. We've heard of the Hollyland Lark and *might* be reviewing it. Stay tuned!
That's a nice mic rig, you should check the Hollyland LARK 150, maybe they can send you an unit. In my opinion it has better audio and recording features. 😁👍
My Rode wireless cuts out when I'm recording weddings and walking around the ceremony or if someone stands in front of the subject wearing the mic. How is the distance on the Sararmonic?
Thank you for this video. I'm just beginning and looking for my first mic for the GoPro 10, It looks a bit complicated. I'll try not to be intimidated. .
Thank you so much for this review! It was really helpful, as are so many of your videos (will be donating soon). : ) I'm wondering if the cable needed to use this with the gopro 9 is included in the saramonic blink kit or if a cable purchase is needed?
Yes, it is included. It is a standard TRS cable for connecting to any camera. Just note that you'll also need a mic adapter or Media Mod to use with the GoPro.
Thanks for the video. How quick is it to turn on and get started. I interview people in the street and so it’s important that I can just clip it onto a person and begin filming
Love your videos! So informative. All killer, no filler:) Question, how does the battery life on the Saramonic compare with other "2-person-wireless-mic" brands you've tried out thus far?
The battery life has been great for our filming style. We usually film 3-4 hours at a time. We can keep all 3 units on the whole time and the batteries aren't close to dying.
Hi, Gimini thanks so much for your review really I was searching for a such wireless mic. 👍👋👋 but I have one Q : its working and compabtabl with Android mobile ??
It can work with Android phones as long as you use the included TRRS cable to connect the receiver to the phone. It is important to use the correct cable (TRRS for phone, TRS for regular camera), otherwise it will not work correctly.
Thanks for your vid, now I got my Saramonic Blink Pro, works great with my studio camera, however, with my GP7 and 5, the audio does not have stereo, it is only from the right speaker...am I missing any accessories? Blink was connected with GoPro using the GP audio adaptor. Thanks!
Check the Saramonic settings -- by default it records to Mono, so you have to change it to Stereo. On the GoPro, go to Preferences -- Mods and set it to Powered Mic.
Have you ever had an issue connecting it to the gopro? When I plug the Saramonic receiver into the gopro media mod it is not picking up sound. I am using a hero 11 and have tried all different mic settings but nothing is working.
Your killing me Suzi! Went to get the Rode Go and it's sold out in the USA everywhere, and I checked everywhere. I do have reason to pick up this Saramonic unit even with the extra $100 because I do have a partner I can mic up also. But similar to the Rode, it's not available for a month to two months.
@@Gemini_Connect yeah im not sure why it was showing it that way, cleared browser on mobile and desktop and they showed the same situation with the Saramonic units. Local vendors - Kenmore Camera said they had them when I got their email this morning. But I had already pulled the trigger on the Hollyland Lark 150 at that point. Will arrive via Amazon tomorrow.
@@PNW1441 That's so strange! Sorry it didn't work out with the Saramonic, but that Hollyland Lark looks pretty solid. We're waiting for our unit to arrive and will do a review once we get it.
Thank you for this review. Trying to decide between this wireless system and the road Wireless Go 2. I have seen some reviews with the blink 500 pro where they experience frequent dropouts. Have you guys experienced this?
We haven't had dropouts with either mic system. But we have been using Rode a lot longer (over a year with the original Wireless Go) and can attest based on that experience that no dropouts happen in the long term either. But it also may depend on your distance from the receiver.
Need to know the actual latency of this device. The previous Blink 500 also states 12ms but is a flat out lie-upwards of 60ms+ in tests. What exactly are the upgrades of this system besides being a little smaller and having an lcd display? Big plastic case that charges everything? Please, spare us...is the sound any better? Are there better chips, better mics, better latency/delay? Seems like the range might be better-but what else? Latency was/is the killer of their last system and is infuriating.
It can be, yes. The kit includes 2 cables for connecting the mic system to your camera. One cable is a TRRS (for smartphones) and the other a TRS (for cameras). Use the TRRS on your phone if it has a 3.5mm mic jack.
great ... what is a decent vlogging system for my daughter . for in and outdoors . , small yet with long battery and memory thanks guys keep the vids coming
Honestly, a modern smartphone is probably best if you're vlogging indoors and outdoors. GoPro is great, but only if you have enough lighting (sometimes it can be lacking indoors).
@@Gemini_Connect thanks .. i reckon i could sort a lcd screen out for indoors . i have tons of stands for lighting heads etc, i figure its got to be cheaper than new i phones , they must have the thinnest crappyest screans going .
I think so, if you have the right cable. We don't use iPhones, but have heard they no longer come with 3.5mm mic jacks. If that is true, you'll need an iPhone cable.
Which one do you prefer, the OG of blink 500 b2 price in my country is $150 while the pro is $300, do you think it’s worth of that price ? Does the improvement justify that price tag ? I wanna use it for gopro 8, because when i used any 3.5mm mic in gopro it record every step i take, the sound like i rub the mic, sry it’s hard for me to describe my experience since english is not my native language.
We prefer the Pro because of the physical interface and the fact that it comes with windscreens. The older model lacks both, and that's a deal breaker for us.
Hello, thanks for this useful video. For some reason, my Saramonic receiver (Rx) does not fit on either of the two shoe mounts on my Media Mod (GoPro Hero 8). Has anyone come across this problem? Can you recommend where to put the Rx if it cannot be mounted on the Media Mod? Thank you.
What adapter do I need for my gopro 9 to hook up hook up the saromonic blink 500 pro? I am new to all of this and your video have helped tremendously but, I cant seem to find the adapter that I need.
You need either the Media Mod (works with Hero 9 or 10) or the GoPro Mic Adapter. If you get the latter, you'll also need a cage (Ulanzi makes great ones) to properly attach the mic adapter to the camera.
Can you plug a flute into it? Jk 299 is a little pricey but they did make a lot of improvements and you get two mic's instead of one! I can see myself buying this and using it for a while.
We're not experts at mics for music, but the Rode Video Mic Pro Plus (geni.us/nCOJ) is a really fantastic all-around mic. It's what we were using to film most of this video.
Please help me I been trying to fix this with my go pro hero 9 and no audio is coming in I’m trying to fix wit the settings and if I do get audio it’s very low how can I fix this?
Saramonic if you need 2 mics, Rode if you only need 1. However....Rode just came out with the new Wireless Go II, so that might be a good 2 person mic option. We will be posting the Wireless Go II review soon.
@Gemini Connect, how did you get these mic’s to sound so good with the Gopro 9? I hooked them up to mine and selected “line in” on the Gopro and the audio level was way too low and had a bit of random static then I selected “standard mic” on the Gopro and the audio level was where it should be but there was a lot of noise noise floor noise. Even editing the sound I could not get it to sound anywhere as good as what you have in your video or any other video I have seen for that matter. Is there something I am doing wrong? I also connected it to my computer and the sound quality was poor and had a lot of noise floor.
On the GoPro, you should select "Powered Mic" when using the Saramonics. This is our exact audio post production work flow - ruclips.net/video/4-DqPIkMUZg/видео.html
@@Gemini_Connect I was also getting a buzz. I did set the Gopro to "powered mic" and I tried a new TRX to TRX cable and the new cable got rid of the buzz but I was still getting a lot of "shhhh" sound in the noise floor. I then tried hooking it up to a Cannon 80D and the "shhhh" was even louder. Then I turned the pre amp on the 80D all the way down and then up one click and set the mic gain to 4 and that was much better but there was still "shhhh" that I had to edit out but I still couldn'tget it all out without ruining my vocals. But It was still unusable with the Gopro because I can't turn down the pre amp on it. I spoke to the company I bought it from and they told me that they have had some of these Blink 500 pro's come back for this kind of problem. But they have not had this kind of problems with other brands. They are going to send me a replacement because they said any time they had this problem sending out a replacement fixed the problem.
In my experience Saramonic has lower audio output, high frequency noise and perceivable audio delay comparing to Rode when I used with Gopro hero7 black.
Have you ever had issues with the Media Mod that it doesnt record your Sarmonic Mic? I have had a couple of instances where the Mics are def working because the receiver shows them connected but then when I go to listen back to my footage later it bypassed the mics and was recording from the media mod mic. Def frustrating for sure.. just wondering what would be the best way to check to make sure things are working right before I start recording. Love these mics.. not sure I love the Media Mod. Other than that, do you know of another good audio recorder I could use with the mics, and then I can sync later into my editing software? Thanks!
Whenever we have had any issues recording audio with Saramonic, it's been our fault (not having one mic on, the cable not being plugged in all the way). For an external recorder, Tascam and Zoom are great options, or you could use your phone with sn external mic plugged in.
@@Gemini_Connect I ended up going with a Sony ICD UX560 and I’m very impressed with the quality and size. After doing some testing, bringing it out for its first recording tonight! Thanks for all your content! Your tips have helped us with our ride-along vlogs! Your content has been an amazing guide for us!
Did you fix it? I remember having problems with trrs cables. My brother helpfully informed me (or I researched) that there is no universal protocol for the way these are wired. Again my memory might fail me but I think Apple wiring is the least conforming. So unhelpfully, that can mean that source and output may be wired two ways, with the cable between them conforming to neither. The result is usually one side sound only.
I took our Blink Pro 500 B2 out for a test yesterday and the video has no audio just a flat audio track. i was using GoPro Hero 8 on mediamod with powered Mic selected and both the TX's powered on and off mute. Im using Davinci Resolve 17 as my editing software. Any idea what i might have done wrong?

How does the wired mic compare to the built-in mic?
Do you know if the mic signal interferes with flash signals? It looks like both are using 2.4 mhz?
Nice video. The audio needs a deesser
@@Gemini_Connect great news
Is this Mic set compatible with the new DJI action 2? The new Rode Go II is, just curious?
Hi Can you show us how to edit audio for the videos ?
Thank you 😊
Yes, good topic idea. Will work on that video soon.
Thank you I love you guys.
The most important question remains: Does it record 2 separate audio tracks? Or both audio sources are inseparably mixed into one track?
You can record in either Mono (1 track) or Stereo (2 tracks).
@@Gemini_Connect perfect, so it is possible to separate both audio sources from each other in edit (I guess). Thank you :)
@@matt.winklerez Yes, it is. Will be making an editing video on how to do this soon!
@@Gemini_Connect Rode makes a 3.5 mm splitter to separate stereo signal into two channels.
thanks for the awesomeness test review
You're welcome! Glad you enjoyed it.
@@GeminiDiscover thanks a lot for that clarification 👍🙏🌸
Any special settings with this for the GoPro Hero 9 Black?
Great question! The main setting is to go into Preferences - Mods and makes sure Powered Mic is selected.
Wow mam really nice camera
Thanks for watching!
The Saramonic isn't available in the USA? Last I checked it was...
Your affiliate link says its not available for 30 to 60 days. And other online locations say not in stock
@@PNW1441 might be a regional issue. I just checked the link and it says it's fully in stock for me.
So time to try out the new Røde Wireless GO II.
Yes! We have one on the way. Review coming soon.
So how would I use this or Rode go 2 to communicate with a friend while on a bike ride without being RIGHT next to each other?
You'd need a walkie talkie too to be able to hear what your friend is saying.
Sorry, don't have the in-depth audio knowledge to answer that. To us, the benefits are as stated, plus the ability to record in stereo over mono.
Awesome ❤️...nice video👍.
If possible can you pls compare with Comica Boom X-U ?
For sure! Review of the Comica will be first, then a comparison.
@@Gemini_Connect 👌👏
Thanks for the review. Do you use the included lav mics? Or do you use your own?
We use the built in mics the most, but when we use lavs, we use the included ones.
may question is blink 500 compatible smartphone? thanks love it
It can be, yes. The kit includes 2 cables for connecting the mic system to your camera. One cable is a TRRS (for smartphones) and the other a TRS (for cameras). Use the TRRS on your phone if it has a 3.5mm mic jack.
thank you
great ... what is a decent vlogging system for my daughter . for in and outdoors . , small yet with long battery and memory thanks guys keep the vids coming
Honestly, a modern smartphone is probably best if you're vlogging indoors and outdoors. GoPro is great, but only if you have enough lighting (sometimes it can be lacking indoors).
@@Gemini_Connect she keeps trashing her screens . i thought maybe a small camera with a tough housing
@@tomhughes5123 You can try GoPro, but again, it may not perform well indoors.
@@Gemini_Connect thanks .. i reckon i could sort a lcd screen out for indoors . i have tons of stands for lighting heads etc, i figure its got to be cheaper than new i phones , they must have the thinnest crappyest screans going .
Is it plug and play or need extra apps ? I am asking this coz gimble req apps which need Bluetooth .
Should he plug and play. I've never used a Saramonic app.
Is this compatible for iPhone 11?
The older model lacks both, and that's a deal breaker for us.
yep the game has changed with this one
HOW MUCH YOU BUY THE SARAMONIC SRMXI ?
It's $25USD. Pretty affordable and great value.
Android detects it (USB-C) as headphones! Mic works but no sound in phone because it thinks that headphone is conected. Any solutions?
Hmm not sure. Might be a setting in your phone.
Good job friends.
Thank you Sean 🙏
▪
I wonder if you could effectively put some kind of little net around the wind muff and mic transmitter...
🟥
Possibly, bit you'd need to make sure that neg doesn't make any noise as the mics are quite sensitive.
▪
I must hunt down the most stealthy NEG possible, then ❗
🟥
I was looking at the Rode Wireless Go to Split audio fr my
computer direct out
Into GoPro Hero 7 black
Would this work instead?
What would your exact setup be?
Can you plug a flute into it? Jk
299 is a little pricey but they did make a lot of improvements and you get two mic's instead of one! I can see myself buying this and using it for a while.
Lol! Yeah, it costs a lot, but you're getting 2 mics and a ton of other features so it's arguably worth it.
Good 👍
Hey brother please suggest a mic for record songs .
We're not experts at mics for music, but the Rode Video Mic Pro Plus (geni.us/nCOJ) is a really fantastic all-around mic. It's what we were using to film most of this video.
I hear less hiss. Any post-processing applied?
Just a limiter.
Please help me I been trying to fix this with my go pro hero 9 and no audio is coming in I’m trying to fix wit the settings and if I do get audio it’s very low how can I fix this?
Reach out to Saramonic tech support.
which mic would you like to get rode wireless go or blink 500 pro ?thank you
Saramonic if you need 2 mics, Rode if you only need 1. However....Rode just came out with the new Wireless Go II, so that might be a good 2 person mic option. We will be posting the Wireless Go II review soon.
@@Gemini_Connect i will be waiting for rode wireless 2 review and comparison with blink 500 pro thank you
how to use saramonic blik 500 pro on gopro 8 setting?
Need a media mod or mic adapter and also to select Powered Mic.
@@Gemini_Connect oic.. ill have mic adapter already but ill try all setting and still cant work properly..
How well does it work when you turn your back, any dropouts?
No dropouts as long as the lav mic or built in mic is clipped securely to the subject.
Have you seem Hollyland Lark 150 to compare. It has case that hold everything and charges?
We're trying to get ahold of a unit and will likely do a review video here soon. Stay tuned!
No wonder there's a wireless go 2 coming out because this blows the current rode out of the water. It all comes down to audio quality.
Thank you for your video! I just received my Saramonic Blink 500 Pro B2. The sound is only coming out of the left speaker. How do I fix this?
Change the settings on the reciever to mono instead of stereo.
@@Gemini_Connect Thank you for replying =)
Did you fix it? I remember having problems with trrs cables. My brother helpfully informed me (or I researched) that there is no universal protocol for the way these are wired. Again my memory might fail me but I think Apple wiring is the least conforming. So unhelpfully, that can mean that source and output may be wired two ways, with the cable between them conforming to neither. The result is usually one side sound only.
Did you apply any noise reduction to the audio in post?
About 10% noise reduction, plus Limiter.
Not sure what you mean by flat audio track?
@@Gemini_Connect no audio detected. no wave bouncing just a flat line audio track like it didnt pick anything up
Maybe check that the cables are fully plugged in? Everything sounds like it should work with those settings.

$300? I’m good for now.
It's a good price for a double wireless mic, but definitely not cheap.
It’s way out of my budget
Sorry to hear that. It's not cheap, but very good price for the quality and features that you get for it.
