Playing with Minecraft April Fool's 2024: Floatator Powered Ship

- One of the neat things in the 2024 April Fool's update (The Poisonous Potato Update) for Minecraft is a block called the "Floatator," which literally just pushes a group of blocks along slowly. It's pretty impressive, in my testing I was able to push a block made up of over 30,000 blocks, and you can stand on it and walk around while it pushes along smooth as butter.
While exploring the "Potato Dimension" I noticed a shipwreck, and thought it would be fun to attach a floatator to the back of it, and this is the result. Thought it was worth sharing, so I made this quick video.

Imagine something like archimedes' ships but as a vanilla feature... 🤯🤯🤯 maneuverable block built ships.

If they do add them, they'll be nerfed quite a lot, as they are in the april fools update they can push tens of thousands of blocks with a single flotater, and that's just too much. But even limited to moving something the size of this ship, I would absolutely love if they put this into the actual game.

@@CurtisJensenGamesI don't think a single floatater pushing 30,000 blocks, or the fact that it can currently even push bedrock, is gonna work no matter how hard the boss is. But I absolutely think there's a compromise possible.

Right? But to be fair, when they are doing a real update they have to make it work on bedrock too, the features in this update are java only, and they are still kind of buggy!
it's interesting what good ideas actually come out of these april fools snapshots sometimes, the lashing potato, the floatater, bit sized blocks (the cheese in the voting update), stained glass literally originated FROM an april fools snapshot, it's just amazing and honestly i think they should have more april fools like updates/snapshots just like this, the developers just have fun for like a week or two, create a cool idea with some interesting blocks, and people get to sort of playtest new features that can potentially if received well enough get actually added to the real game with some major tweaks of course (the lashing potato is obviously overpowered).
Testing new ideas is definitely one of the things they use these halloween updates for, and I'm all for it. I love that they implemented things with almost no restrictions - the floatater will actually even push bedrock, and the increased speed you get from stacking more of them together - with my testing - appears to be essentially infinite. This is one of my favorite april fools snapshots yet, I will be playing with this one for a long time. It will be interesting to see what carries over for sure.
The lashing potato is balanced, consider we already have the elytra
This is a lot like the Mod Eureka! Ships! for Valkyrian Skies, which lets you build ships and airships out of blocks. Gotta agree it's ridiculous that they can add something like this for an April fools joke, but not in an actual update. Hopefully after seeing the response to this fake update, it will convince Mojang to stop holding back so unbelievably hard on the content
I would absolutely love to have this in minecraft for real! I just watched Pixlriffs video where he, Ulraf, BrunoDanUy, and ibxtoycat all played with it and they did the same with an end ship... And then they did the entire end island. Great video, you should watch it for sure. These things are fantastic.
I'm a big fan of Eureka! Ships. I need to try these out!
This block got me excited. With it, we could buile proper boats and also proper trains
tears of the kingdom type beat. would be amaizng to see them add this into vanilla, even if it’s nerfed in some way that doesn’t make it exploitable
God, I hope they actually make this feature as well as the sky Island generation and the grappling hook. Those are some of the coolest things that could work in vanilla
I haven't managed to make/find any floatators yet. Looking forward to playing with them though!
dude they need to just add something like this into the main game if they clearly already have a way for it to work

Bedrock edition?
Mojang doesn't really make bedrock editions of the April Fools updates, they are pretty much exclusive to Java because many of the features may not work on consoles and mobile and such. That said, this year they did officially endorse a free Poisonous Potato Add-On that you can get from the marketplace, by Jigarbov Productions. It's not the same as the java update, but has some silly fun stuff nonetheless. ibxtoycat did a video about it if you want to go look for that.
