8:06 Real talk though, imagine you open a piston door and the whole mechanism just leaves, only for a bridge across the gap to pop up
That would be pretty dope
Cool scene.
Imagine an entire Howls Moving Castle esque base made with these things with functioning piston doors, since it can move redstone and pistons.
maybe a flying machine bridge that comes up from the pit
coo
I'm pretty sure at 2:33 it stole the obsidian because, it stopped for a moment, becoming blocks, but then the Redstone wire was still active causing it to activate again. Flotater turns all the blocks into the state they were the moment it started flying so buttons stay down and redstone wire stays on.
yep exactly what I wanted to comment! good catch
oh geez thst means it's near unstoppable
In case you’re curious, the floatater’s push limit is based off of radius instead of number of blocks. I think it can push all connected blocks within 30 blocks of the floatater.
Edit: it is actually a size (as in volume) limit of 32x32x32. Thanks for correcting me
Acrually, it is not a radius at all it's a size limit, the floatater structure (pushed blocks + floatater itself) can be up to 32x32x32 in size, any block larger than that and it doenst work
@@guilhermerafaelzimermann419632x32x32 is a radius…

April fools snapshots tend to add things mojang has been testing, so I think in the future we might get some thing similar to the flotator block in a future update
Definitly shouldn't be as strong.Add this thing and the entire flying machine community(using slime and honey) dies
@@juliocesarfernandesrodrigu8110 yeah obviously it wouldnt be that op
Idk man it feels way past op no matter how rare the item that makes this block is it will still be considered way past op
@@juliocesarfernandesrodrigu8110 it would be cool to even just add it as a creative-only-item. People who want to create smooth contraptions can do it if they want. And, until the dev team figures out a way to add it to survival, it is available for use.
Unfortunately not, if this was an item they were testing before the logic would have been way better. Seems like it was just rushed in a few hours for the update.
This block looks like something that would be perfect for an "End Update". The ships of the end are a transport that will probably work.
I think you just called it a couple years in advance. That’s gotta be it.
Fuck that would be so cool!
That would be awesome!
that would be sick
@@recursiveslacker7730 I dont think a couple of years. I honestly feel like Mojang has been working on an end update since Caves and Cliffs was released, and has been conceptually been working on it since the nether update.
With a bit of luck, 2025 will have an end update. Like, caves and cliffs had some minor tweaks it needed, and I am 99% certain they did the end first for 3 dimensional biomes, so they could change the overworld next with those 3d biomes while playing around with blocks below 0.
If the End isnt going to have caves, and not really going to have ores. It can have 3d biomes, increased building limits, more structures, and since the End also basically is the inventory dimension (ender chests and shulkerboxes both come from the end), it might also be an inventory update. Basically you having a standard inventory, because thats all you need to defeat the dragon, and once you kill the dragon, you can reach ways of expanding your inventory.
Here are a couple of things you should know about the floatater:
using multiple in the same direction will increase it's speed
it only sticks to things it's making direct adjacent contact with, so a top slab will not stick to the side of a bottom slab.
Flotatoes can be placed in the air and are very useful for stopping a floatater.
No not really
You can use, command /tick freeze and / tick unfreeze
It's really funny I made a twin tower flying 😂😂

Now you can officially make a flying 3x3 piston door!
And without flying machines too!
Although, I just realized that MythicalPingu already made a moving 3x3 door without floataters
8:06
3x3 door nah don't you mean a 32x32 door - floatators max push limit is 32x32x32 by radius and not in a line like a piston
Bro you just made a headless piston
I have learned that using pottery can effectively stop the flotator and prevent it from sticking, and I'm pretty sure it also works with non-full blocks (such as soul sand) as well.
Yeah, I just realized that fences, slabs, stairs, etc. will prevent floataters from working
I don't think it's as glitchy as you're thinking. you're thinking of it as a piston when you should be thinking of it as a thruster and you're forgetting that it's from an april fools update, thus making it immune to any molding within minecraft's standards for things like this.
1. it can move things pistons can't because it isn't a piston and it isn't seriously intended to account for normal minecraft's insurance rules
2. I have to assume it can't move tile entities because that is just something mojang can't figure out how to do with whatever they code in or something, so it logically breaks them so they can't impede the rest of the structure that it is moving
3. I'm not certain but I think its limit is dependent on distance rather than block count, so it couldn't push that long line because some part of it was basically a wall
4. I'm pretty sure with the elevator, it just yoinked the obsidian because the redstone line was still powered so when it came to a stop, the floatater was repowered and the redstone was able to turn off in that same instant, which allowed the machine to stop once it hit the block limit ( no clue why some of it got atomized and others got saved)
5. Before assuming the tnt looked glitchy, I would recommend what it looks like pushing other entities to see if it looks similar (I feel like I should make sure that this isn't interpreted as me sounding upset or anything, it's just an observation I made and thought I would mention, but I'm often bad with word choice so sorry if it sounds mean at all :) )
6. the final piston door was being moved because the pistons on the left were connected to the floatater's structure, thus connecting the entire door to the floatater
That's all the things I can remember right now. It's important to remember that not everything has to fit within the preexisting molds, especially when it isn't made for the base game. The copper bulb, for example, wasn't bugged or glitchy when it had a one tick delay, it was intentionally made that way (unfortunately they changed it to 2 ticks for reasons i'm unaware of). I find that it's best to assume everything is working as intended; that makes it easier to understand the rules of the individual feature and judge them accordingly instead of judging them based on what similar things we have already because that can lead to viewing the thing that makes the feature special and different enough to be its own feature. Ofc it definitely isn't perfect -- it decapitated a piston after all -- but it seemed like you were viewing its rules and features as bugs simply because they differ from the norm, not because they are necessarily game-breaking or literally broken.
TL;DR: the floatater isn't as broken as you think, most of the things I saw you point out as bugs seemed to be features to me, and some of the things that went wrong reinforce what I saw as features.
ok, but how was it moving air?
There is a bug that an activated button is permanently activated if it is moved after it has been pressed! As a result, the flying machine only came to a stop when the button was gone!
bro relax
@@HahnKreis it could still stop when it comes into contact with a wall thats outside its influence
tile entity ability to move is entirely dependent on 1 singular line of code that mojang can easily change and yet they don't

Since April Fools generally add stuff Mojang is testing, it looks to me like the custom dimension means there's gonna be more support for those and fog = more support and well there's quite a few things which might be actually added in some way
from my limited understanding of the flotator, it doesnt have a block limit, but it has a radius limit, if the blocks exede that radius it will not push, that is how they made sure it wouldnt push the world to
wouldve been funny tho if you could basically move an entire chunk from world height to void and just watch that chunk slowly disappear
Actually the way that it works is that as long as all the connected blocks (floatater included) is no bigger than 32x32x32 it will move, the wiki incorrectly states that it is a 30 block radius, but i tested it out rigorously for myself, the position of the floatater does not affect the max size of the structure
Floatater will actually push a structure, which is 61x61x61, assuming that the device is right in the middle of it. You can also use chests as rails for the door to prevent the moving part of the door from sticking to rest of the mechanism.
Wrong, the floatater will push a structure that is 32x32x32 regardless where in the structure the floatater is.
The floatater is included in the size of the structure so keep that in mind when making your floatater ships
I believe there's actually a gamerule for the push limit of the floatater! Couldn't find anything online about it, but I remember going to the gamerules when making a new world in the update and seeing something about the floatater near the bottom of the list. Pretty sure the listed value was like 12x12x12 or something??? not too sure though
Time to move my desert wells then!!
By the way, decorated pots are the Terracota-counterpart to the Floatato block.
The thing is people think mojang put more effort in april fools updates than real updates but in april fools updates almost NO testing goes into it and its unpolished. Thats why theres so many bugs in the snapshot. Also, look at the new snapshots, the new mace looks pretty good so far.

that thing, I tested, is able to push EVERYTHING in an area of 32x32x32 (beginning from layer 0 that has the floatater in it). Adding anymore blocks in any place blocks the floatater activation.
The blocks MUST be connected, and I think the floatater can be able to push two objects that are separated side-to-side 1 block apart if the initial pushed object has a slime block in "contact".
Don't know a lot about that last part, I didn't test much. I just observed a floatater pushing 2 objects with a slime block and was amazed but didn't go further.

yes @@joelfahlberg6839
I tried to make a block like this myself 2 months ago. It was really hard, and I was able only to make it work like piston. Push limit was 8. So, i think flotator was really hard to code, and Mojang spent like 3 weeks to make it work like this
Seems like a few of these things that were described as glitchy behaviour were just different or misunderstood mechanics. Like the radius of effect instead of a fixed number of blocks as that piston has, or the way different blocks are movable or 'sticky' with the different mechanic.
The coolest potential part of a block like this is, it seems like it can move actual working redstone circuitry. You could fly a section of a circuit into position to complete a redstone contraption. The possibilities for something like that are massive.
Finally, they added Create mod to vanilla.
They should add this in the end update to allow us to make moving airships in vanilla 😩🙏
*8:06* The funniest part in this video has to be how it uses the song called ''Morning'' all the whilst the Minecraft sun is setting... On top of just how hilarious the horizontally sliding piston door is.
The gameplay features I want them to add to minecraft are those reminiscent of old school platformers, since minecraft lends itself well to the platforming playstyle in a 3D environment. you can use it to move tnt, just put a repeateronto the platform and activtate it along with the floatater. the redstone freezes while it's moving. when it stops moving, it unfreezes and the tnt ignites
I believe the floatator has a push limit of a 32x32x32 square, as long as all the block are within that area it can push them, the position of the floatator does not matter, it can be in the middle, or on the corner it will still push. Also it will push any blocks that are already attached to it, once a new block is added (by for example flying into it) it will stop and the more floatators you add the faster it goes, and it can go extremely fast, like really fast

It can push up to a 32x32x32 cube (it must be part of the cube as well.). You can also very easily make headless pistons with it to break bedrock. Plus you can dupe redstone, pistons, repeaters ect with it.
You can also push nether portals and the potato portals with it. End portals will break if you try to move them but you can move the frames.
2:57 He wasnt asking, he was ordering us :D
I couldnt refuse it
it moves everything that it touches before it starting moving, including immovable blocks. thats why the obsidian didnt move the first time.
I don't know if it's because I play modded mc a lot, but the floater is very intuitive to me. It sticks a collection of blocks together, and that's it. Tile Entities like chests break immediately. The reason the floater kept stealing obsidian and the whole mechanism was because the mechanism was connected with non-air blocks. Glazed terracotta only works on slime and honey blocks, floaters can connect everything. As long as the redstone doesn't touch (even indirectly) any part of the mechanism other than the floater, it won't move.
Mumbo's gonna have a field day with this
They could make a skulk goop that you can add to blocks to make the blocks being pushed by it not interact with it. This would also help with a consistent stoping point.
I think this block is more for a mobile base than anything tho.
I love that the first thing every redstoner does with a floatator is build an elevator. I love this community.
I love him seeing the floatator defying the laws of minecraft
You've actually only encountered one glitch, being that it destroys tile blocks. Also, it cannot stick to some non-full blocks when faced correctly (I like the pot the most).

with this snapshot, you can theoretically build a bedrock upside down "T" in your friends base
I think the explanation for it pushing air is like how pistons work with quasi-connectivity but i'm not a redstoner so i don't know, just the first thing that comes to mind
2:12 its moving active redstone which is activating the moving block
This can work in Vanilla Minecraft using copper and phantom membrane. My suggestion is that it could push only specific blocks and you can enable and disable it on the fly so it won't cause problems
I love the create Mod and this reminds me so much of it
5:31 it was moving the tnt entity forward
Use a fence gate insted of the concrete block above the floatater, it will work flawlessly
I get it.
The block moves a particular mass, and when the mass of the thing it hits is greater than the mass of the flotater, it will come to a halt. If the mass is smaller, the mass will join the flotater.
Haha, the bugs here were amazing. I'm not sure if the disassembled piston or the runaway door was funnier.
Use the pots to stop the elavator from taking the blocks on the side it doesn’t stick to them
I swear it may not work here but we need this I’d love it personally imagine though the things you could do with it
minecraft may add this block with diffrent name textures and mechanism so you can break the flying machine and also dont be crazy weird at pushing unmovable blocks
if you use pots on the floor and wall then it doesnt move it
also in world options there is a setting for how much it can push
imagine using a flotator piston door and when u finnaly test it out it jsut flies away never to be seen again
So I just built an elevator that works... You can only have go up and down 2 floors though. The way you do it is you create the elevator cart and then put a floater on the bottom facing up and one on the top facing down. Next use levers on the floor and roof of the cart to activate the floatato (buttons get stuck for some reason while levers are only stuck while the floatato is activated and can be changed back once it stops then reactivated again). When you're creating the shaft for the elevator the starting positions can not have any blocks touching the cart. To stop the elevator cart put a flotater in the path as even just 1 block will stop it no matter how big the structure is. When the shaft is in motion it can move past blocks that are right next to it without picking it up so even though the starting points need to have a one block gap (except the corners) the shaft itself doesn't. I can share the world if anyone wants it although I don't really care to upload a video since I doubt anyone would be interested in seeing it nor would the algorithm have it pop up on anyone's feed seeing as I have never made a real video before.
