When I read this comment I heard it with Mumbo's voice in my head…
Should I be worried that I watch too many videos with him in them?
Its actually really simple. First you just click this button and then really cool stuff happens.
"It has 1 game tick, I have wanted this for years." (Mojang proceeds to remove that for "consistency" reasons.)
consistency with bedrock's horrendous redstone
Ah yes, consistency for a block that has yet to be added in both versions... Screw you microsoft
this just gave us:
-quadrupled screen resolution
-gave precise timing options
-car sound tick tock
-1 block memory
The third one is clearly the best 😂
And cop flop
well, technically the screen resolution only got 2x smaller, but yeah, still awesome
@@Stab.a_Saurus No, wrong. Screens used to have 4-block pixels, now one. So a reduction of 4x.
@@theforg0ttensorcererarea taken up goes up with the square of resolution. If you ¼ the area, you 2x the resolution
So Redstone Lamp screens would be like the old CRT screens back in the day, and Copper Bulb screens the new modern screens
kinda counter intuitive, the COPPER bulb is better than the redstone lamp (electricity in mc)
@@Carma281 and electricity irl is carried over copper wires. theyre giving more advanced redstone functionality to copper blocks, to sort of bring this fact into minecraft

this is the kind of genius design i love about vanilla minecraft redstone. you have one simple block and yet it can be used for so many different things.
they really could have just made this a reskinned redstone lamp, but nah its a revolution
hi electra
Likewise, I love how instead of making it just a t-flip-flop, it's also a lamp.
@@mkks4559 A really damned ugly one. The copper bulb has an aesthetic, it has style, but that means it doesn't go with most things. Also you need to oxidize even more copper if you don't wand it standing out like hell.

Fine. Have it your way.
Until the new snapshot. Yeah that can go away, we need this back.
F to the copper bulb and autocrafter, we will miss you
It was one feature for each they aren’t useless now the crafter had 2 massive ones and the bulb had like 10 smaller ones
Still people were wanting something with odd game tick delay for so long and Mister Copper Flopper came in and everyone loved it's 1 game tick delay but Mojang saw us having fun and said "We can't be having that now can we" and nerfed it to be Instant, people loves that block because of this feature, sure it had other uses, like i was gonna use for all my Piston doors going forward
A good compromise and to make it greater than ever (this isn't my idea i saw it on reddit or RUclips somewhere)would be make the difference oxidation levels add 1 game tick of delay
It just sucks and the only reason this happened was because someone reported it and said "it needed to be consistent" (i don't even know if that's the full story or not
It was nerfed because it’s not possible to run Redstone components at a single gametick in bedrock
@@masonaxenty4869 while that's understandable there is already a bunch of differences in-between versions why did java have to suffer
2:50 This feels kind of like the transition from cathode ray TVs to LCD and OLED
You are the best
I'm not a Redstoner, though I love watching the creations.
To me, though, it's two very useful things: 1) FINALLY a use for copper! We had, what, four blocks? I can't even remember because copper is so useless except as an orangey-teal addition to the color pallet. 2) A light-source that is adjustable! I can finally have an alley with sketchy overheads without pulsing a redstone lamp. I'll still pulse a lamp for a couple but a few dim street lights - yes please.
Technically those 4 blocks counted as 32 because of the 4 oxidation levels and the waxed/non-waxed state. (But really there were only 4 and I’m just being pedantic)
i hate people saying copper is useless. it’s one of the prettiest blocks in the game and those same people are never on the ass of like, mossy cobble or podzol. i love copper. it doesn’t need to have a lot of redstone or crafting uses to be an important and good addition to the game
@@seguayePeople have this reaction to copper because it was so ridiculously abundant compared to podzol or mossy cobble and would clog your inventory when you mine
@@styrus3164 you cant build with something you dont have. Thats why iron is not so used on buildings, but now a bunch early survival buildings after 1.17 used copper consistently
This is going to be extremely useful for us bedrock users particularly for the t flip flops 😊

I didnt even realise the fact that these are 2 additions Mojang nailed with the introductary snapshots. So far i have heard no serious flaws with these blocks that people want changed. Damn, Mojang aced this time.
plus the tick command
They hired a modder that's basically including their most wanted features into the game 😂😂 that'd do it
The bulb needs to soft power blocks next to it like a solid block. It needs to interact with pistons, droppers, dispensers, hoppers, dust, repeaters, crafters, etc. If the community was smart and had a good heart we would be rallying for this as it is I can't find 3 other people even aware of it
@@kevinjamesmartin4307 No that would be terrible
@@kevinjamesmartin4307 that's the thing. The block should not soft power stuff.
This is the entire reason bulb displays work. With redstone lamps, hard powering the block soft powers adjacent ones and messes things up, so the contraption gets bulkier to prevent this.
This block doesn't do so. And it's good.
I especially like how the sound for this block seems to be specifically designed to make redstone machines using it have a cool background sound to break up all the piston noise
the mumbo skin at 3:10 goes crazy
5:34 That didn't age so well...

I really hope they don't "fix" the odd delay, I feel like they'd do something like that.
a dev said on twitter that it was intentional so dont think they will :) they know what they're doing
About that...
@@Andrew-is6jb yeah ;-; why would they do this
I really hope the 1 tick delay comes back
I guess pixels in redstone displays have declared independence from each other, quadrupling the screen resolution, oh i cannot wait to build some stuff with this!
finally more redstone lighting options
It's now I realise, the 1 tick delay on the bulb is going to be AMAZING for note block songs, since now we can basically double their tempo, in theory!

@@GD_Jeff18 floopin floppin flibbity flop fliping?
i feel like i should put my redstone idea here: a 3x3 display of copper bulbs, each with a button on them, choosing the slot that an autocrafter puts the item in, and there could be a clear button that switches the material, between wood planks, iron, diamond, gold, or other materials that you want, it could have an optional addition where it displays the item your using with a block of it at the top, switching out with a piston conveyor of blocks behind it with the item options. (i dont know the auto-crafter well enough to know if this next part will work or not), again this may or may not work but have dirt/sand or something as filler for blank spots when submitting a recepie, but removing them before trying to craft. then you could submit a recepie, have it memorize the data for it (material and item slots filled), and have a repeat button on the side to repeat the craft, if it runs out of rescources it could spit out a paper that says "Insufficent rescources: iron" or whichever one you dont have. the memorize feature will need to be cleared because we cant really make more buttons. this will be a big project but i think it would be cool to see how small we can make it with the new copper bulb.
Purplers: This is what I always wanted.
Mojang: Ok, lets make it more consistent/same with Bedrock (for those who are unaware, a suspected reason for the bulb and crafter issue is because of Bedrock)
So its shit edition fault for the crafter and the bulb get nerfed?
A few remarks about redstone computers:
1. If you are able to build a reasonable 1×1 copper bulb display (without requiring 3D wiring), you could have used trapdoors as well, and transmit this to 1×1 pixels for a redstone lamp display, powered using redstone blocks and observerclocks.
The reason why computer redstoners didn't use this, was because this is just laggy and impractical. Also, it is impossible without pistons or observers.
2. It is still relatively hard to contruct a reasonable 1×1 copper bulb display, especially when not allowing observers or pistons, but everybody is probably going to copy a standard design.
3. This has little to do with redstone computers, but bells are the laggiest block in the game, and should never be used to replace hoppers in redstone.
With this Copper Bulb, we can *FINALLY* have XOR lighting setups in our builds!
was originally planning to build a lighting system with buttons that activate a copper bulb with a comparator output to activate a light only to remember that a copper bulb already does that...
I love this new block. My redstone Lights Out game just shrunk down to half the size it was before, thanks to it! :D
RIP 1 tick copper bulb...
I wonder what implications this has for Minecraft Bedrock specifically, since a LOT of Redstone machines (like flying machines) need one tick pulses, which can't happen in Bedrock

1.21 will be the best update for us :)
copper is now slightly more useful :)
no matter how much or how little theyll add, how bad or how good the other features are, how much or how little the community hates this update, ill be happy with it no matter what because of how damn useful the copper bulb and crafter is. briliant features, 10/10 minecraft
It sounds like a relay which were actually used as bits in the first computers. Car indicators still use them.
2:00 I already had a 1x1 pixel screen display in 2017.
And someone made a better one in 2018/19.
In my opinion, that's not going to change, since the signal going to each individual pixel is the problem, not the screen itself.
Little did he know, he would change his mind completely after less than a month...
pros: incredibly versatile redstone component
cons: the crafters texture was made worse
Small price to pay for salvation, it's barely even a drawback since it looks less like 1.14 work stations now
@@user-tzzglsstle585e38 fair point

I love how since Mumbos vid looking at this, everyone is now calling it either the 'cop-flop' or the 'copper -flopper '. Well done to mumbo. Great explanations of these btw
Just the simplicity in a t flip flop not needing pistons will be huge. Any amount of simplifying functions will allow more to be done.
Someone's going to make an optimized piston sugarcane farm with the copper bulbs somehow, I'm envisioning the bulbs being able to trigger individual pulses to the pistons, because a lot of sugarcane farms just push half or all the pistons when a piece of cane grows to 3 blocks
We can already do that with note block/rails
@@Purplers Ah

0:50 No, that's not just you. It really is a car turn signal.
a neat functionality to flesh out this "redstone update" would be to make the copper grate "waterloggable" with redstone dust, with the property that it only powers a comparator, thus compacting circuits even further...
Can't wait for the screens with this. Faster refresh rate and response time and beter resolution
copper bulbs make a very pleasant sound too
"Its a flop flop!" -Mumbo
i've been able to make certain redstone computer base parts absolutely TINY using the copper bulb, which is amazing. like a RAM bit that takes up only a 3x3 space, and absolutely tiny program counters. today i just made an absolutely tiny (and fast) 64B ram module using copper bulbs.
The copper flopper, I love how this is actually gaining traction 😂
That Mumbo Jumbo character reveal had me rolling on the floor. 🤣😭
0:52 my gosh this is so satisfying
I hope more of the other copper blocks (i.e. copper doors, copper trapdoors) also get the same properties of being a cop flop also
i was pretty sure you would upload a video with this block soon
I got so happy when I saw what this block did. No more bulky flip flops. Best block in this update in my opinion.
**Everyone saying crafters are going to revolutionise redstone.**
Meanwhile copper bulbs:
Don't forget, we even have the Breeze, the first mob that can interact with redstone components
Yeah, this is totally shaping up to be the redstone update lol
this block is revolutionary for the fast piston door community and the compact piston door community.
this block has changed computing mc, farms, piston usage, design, and lots of redstone work for years to come, this is the equivalate of moving from vacuum tubes to transistors, catode screens to led, all in one small change.
This may also be great for programmable piston feed tapes.
lmao "cop flop"
I'm glad that stuck.
I decided to replicate the car you made at the start but I ended up just make a double observer thing for the headlights so I could fit more stuff in the inside instead, making the car completely out of copper items
3:11 Mumbo jumpscare
Tiny nitpick: It's a lot closer to cauldrons than redstone blocks
A cauldron gives a comparator output depending on how much liquid is in it
Honestly, I’m my opinion this is good because it’s time saving, instead of having to spend 10 minutes building a toggle, you can just use one of these! I already see much potential, don’t understand why people hate it
I really feel like Gnembom is watching over the community on this one
I'm so happy to see mumbos name being used!
Seeing mumbo's skin scared me, I don't know why
2:58 CRT to LCD TV update
You can also replace the noteblocks/trapdoors/rails by wither skulls which give update when they are powered now, and they don't make any sounds
Yeah i saw that was a really weird change lol, however wither skulls are a lot more annoying to get large numbers of unless you've gone out of your way to build a giant wither skele farm
@@Purplers I was also really surprised to find this out. But yeah I was mainly saying that from a creative point of view
the new minecraft 1.21 update with all the new redstone items should be called the industrial revolution update. ( dont have the name be 2 rhyming words together. then it sounds less bold )
